Reviews of Parc Slip Visitor Centre and Cafe

What an amazing place! Parc Slip is a must visit place for everyone, the views are incredible, especially the bird viewing boxes.
The memorial is lovely, and perfectly captures the need to remember our miners.
Dog friendly and a great cafe too!

Absolutely love taking the dogs walking here, different walks such as the fox trail and pretty carvings as you walk by. No fee but at the end you can give a donation towards the up keep.

Lots of rugged wilderness to explore. Mostly wide stony paths but there are narrower trails to get lost on. Didn't see any foxes or plovers on the fox or plover trails, but did see some butterflies, so... Result!

Great wildlife area, easily marked paths and a decent cafe at the end of a walk. Car park is free but accepts donations.

Nice place to walk around and viewing the Parc, visiting the 4 hides. It is a,shame someone had been sick in one and it had not been cleared up, smelt rather bad. The visitor centre was closed, even though the sign on the window said, owing for winter on 7th November, i visited on Sunday 16th October and the days and times said Closed Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday open from 10am till 4pm, bur still closed and no one around, rather disappointing!

The most idyllic walks and running routes in the Bridgend area.
Only down side is that to many dog owners leave the their dogs of the leads and with no intention of putting the dogs on lead when you approach them. This can make it very uncomfortable and a little frustrating knowing that there are some irresponsible dog walkers.
But that is the only criticism of Parc Slip Nature Reserve.

Nice friendly cafe with large varied nature reserve with long walks. Get your steps in! Excellent access for all site.

The park is obviously great, but the café, whilst claiming on Facebook to be open, is not. We were disappointed, having driven from Pontypridd to meet family and had to go to nearby Bryngarw, which was open. The café was well staffed. Maybe the Awen Trust who run Bryngarw could send some of their staff to run Parc Slip.

Great for walkers,, push bikes of all ages,, educational. Cafe is partially open,, serves drinks,, cakes,, watermelon. Toilet facilities. Car park available.

Lovely park cafe closed even though their Facebook page said open and opening hours on door stating likewise couple with person in wheelchair were not amused.

Had a very good day birdwatching from the hides set up here. Also admiring the wild orchids in bloom around the pathways.

Lovely walk and there has been lots of work done around the slip since my last visit. Bumped into some Highland cattle that were roaming freely.

Lovely place to go for a walk and explore nature. Tom Baker brownies at the end of the walk at the visitor centre was also a lovely treat! They were delicious!

Absolutely gorgeous place with stunning walks and always so quiet been their a couple of times now and definitely recommend but we did encounter some on the loose huge bulls with massive horns one Tuesday afternoon and they were blocking the path and were collosal and scary. So we decided to go a different route and it was fine but they were on the main path with no one around and not controlled in any way, which could've resulted in a big Danger if their was a dog or young children. I definitely think this was just a one of and maybe the were farmers moving the livestock to another field but just thought I would say this.

Loads of walks . Lovely coffee shop that sells fab cookies.
T. L.
I love this place, the cafe has amazing food, and the walks are so nice, must see place if u like nature and walking.
C. M.
Get away from the madding crowd and take a peaceful walk with nature. The trails are easy to navigate and information pillars explain the local wildlife.
On a warm day you will need to carry your own drinks with you as it could be a long way back to the cafe.
S. O.
Lovely place for a quiet time and a good walk plus there is some historical information around regarding the mine and those who died during a disaster which took place there. I haven't actually been in the centre itself but that is because when I go there I usually have my dog with me, I'm sure it will be very informative and interesting.

Had a lovely walk through the woodland, saw ducks, moorhens a goose, a Robin and half a dozen dragonflies. Stopped then for coffees in the cafe and the ladies serving there were really friendly and make a good cuppa. A nice day and the kids loved it.
J. P.
Lovely walk and new mobile coffee shop. No toilet facilities whatsoever and we had young children with us.
D. C.
Some lovely walks - shame you can't get food anymore ( sandwiches etc).
J. T.
Free parking
Cafe there that does food & drink
Not the biggest walk but we enjoyed it. The hide was nice to relax in and the Highland cattle were a nice surprise
l. m.
Lovely little cafe and nature reserve - also worth a trip to nearby Bryngarw country park if you are in the area

Brilliant morning walk.

Really like the cafe at PSNR, but today the poor ladies behind the counter were worn out! It was quite busy, and only 2 of them there, which resulted in nearly an hour wait for coffee and a sandwich! OK if you have plenty of time to spare! My wrap was very tasty but arrived half an hour after my friend's! I appreciate it's difficult to forecast how busy it's going to be, but just be prepared to wait!
