I have been attending classes at Leith Pilates for about six months and they are fantastic. Andy gets to know everyone individually and is able to tailor exercises so that you get the best out of each session. He offers alternative exercises depending on problem areas or tightness for each individual. The studio is lovely and the small class sizes mean that you get to know other people so it is really friendly and welcoming. My other half had back problems prior to us starting pilates and he has seen a huge improvement since attending Andy's classes. Leith Pilates is competitively priced compared to other centres as we did a large amount of research prior to signing up for a block of classes. We definitely made the right choice and would highly recommend Leith Pilates to anyone looking for classes and one to one sessions.

Leith Pilates is fantastic. From the start, they take an interest in you, and what you need. Though I can understand some comments complaining of the cost of an induction, it’s so important for the guys to understand your needs and get you in the right class. I was constantly amazed at how well Andy would remember those details, and would suggest alternatives if some exercises in class would cause me issues.
Having now attended for 2-3 years, my constant back pain is a thing of the past. I honestly put choosing Leith Pilates as one of the most important decisions in terms of fitness I have ever made. The classes are a great size, and the tutors are incredible - so knowledgable and so friendly. I can’t recommend this studio highly enough.

Just had my induction session and after years of back pain and visiting doctors, physios and 'specialists', I have finally been given an explanation of my issues and ways to remedy them. There was no hard sell to continue with classes. The team at Leith Pilates really know their stuff. The induction and classes are excellent value for money. The studio is lovely. Well laid-out, bright and welcoming. They have been very accommodating already with my schedule. I was given some 'homework' to do and already, after a week, I feel a difference. Can't wait to start the real hard work at class!

I've been attending Pilates classes at Leith Pilates since early spring 2014 - I highly recommend them. Andy is professional in every way and gives utmost importance to each individuals ability and learning. Classes are small - never more than 10 - 12 people. It's a studio to grow with - providing a community feeling and a real passion and understanding of Pilates. Helpful in every way, both Andy and Ruth work flexibly and aim to accommodate - I'm the worst culprit, often needing to reschedule make up classes, due to work pressures. A friend referred me and I've gone on to refer two others - it's that type of place. Love it.

Great studio and fantastic staff. Andy is an excellent teacher, extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to work out exactly what your needs are. He and Ruth are incredibly welcoming, the classes are a great size and the whole experience is brilliant. I would highly recommend Leith Pilates to anyone, in fact I rave about Andy and the studio to my friends as it is! Great place, you won't be disappointed.

I'm 41 and never thought I'd be into Pilates. Prior to meeting Andy, I had a number of long-term injuries from climbing and various misadventures, and having seen various physiotherapists, chiropractors and osteopaths, had pretty much reached the point of accepting my various aches and pains. My partner was already a regular attendee at Leith Pilates, but my perception and previous experience was that Pilates would be somewhere on the same spectrum as Yoga - all full of chakras and other pseudo-spiritual nonesense.
I couldn't have been more wrong. Andy is an absolute gold-mine of knowledge and takes an honest, pragmatic and evidence-based approach to his one-to-one sessions, and rather than simply delivering an opinion and a prescriptive treatment plan, helped me understand the physiological mechanisms behind my issues for myself. This meant that rather than struggling on with a single painful or ineffective treatment exercise, I could attend classes, experiment with a variety of movements, and identify those that worked for me. The old adage about giving a man a fish has never been more true...
Not only did Pilates help me cure my initial knee problem, but its also taught me how to minimise future injuries in the face of a fairly gung-ho attitude to self-preservation and given me a toolkit of exercises to fix minor niggles as they occur. Added to the fact that the classes are fun (in a way that the gym or traditional excercise classes simply aren't) and leave you feeling 2" taller with springs under your feet, the whole experience has been little short of "life-changing". My climbing, which I was on the verge of giving up, has improved; I'm remotivated to general exercise/training, which had become uncomfortable and frustrating; I've saved a small fortune in marginally-effective oesteopathic treatment; and, most importantly, feel like I can do the (probably ill-advised) things I want to do with less fear of injury.

Leith Pilates is a great place to follow Pilates. Andy is an excellent teacher with great knowledge on pilates, not only offering enjoyable excercise but also helping people with different kind of injuries to recover.
I followed Leith Pilates classes after an injury in my back and the recommendation of the physiotherapist. Andy managed to help me and teach me the right movement of our body and I managed to completely recover from my injury and get out of pain. The classes are not bigger than 10 people and Andy pays attention on each person individually taking care of the specific problem that we face. I was surprised that he remembers the problem that each of us face in every single class each time!
Unfortunately, I need to leave my pilates class in Ediburgh and the enjoyable class of Tuesdays. However, I will keep doing pilates for the great advantages that you can offer to your body. Thank you Andy for your valuable help and lesson about listening our body!

This location has recently separated and been renamed Leith Pilates. I have only joined since the change so cannot compare but I am really enjoying my classes so far. The location is lovely and the studio is calming and also welcoming, due, in part to the lovely people and in part, to the beautiful home made cushions. It is early days for me in attending classes but I am already starting to feel a difference and would recommend them to anyone who was interested - I am trying to get my husband to join the next cycle already!

The Pilates Attic is a real gem of a place. The classes have a relaxed atmosphere and their small size means that everyone gets one to one feedback on how their progressing week by week. The instructor, Andy, is an excellent teacher and has a genuine interest in helping others to feel the benefit of Pilates.

Just a note to say that, thanks to your exercises, I now have what I will call a greater “muscular resilience “ when doing physical jobs.
I have recently renewed a work surface in our utility room, requiring lifting, drilling, screwing and generally mauling about on the floor on hands and knees etc. and have survived in a much better shape than usual - more strength in arms and legs when doing the job and able to recover quicker afterwards with fewer aches and pains than usual the next day.
With this added confidence ( a day or two later, I should add) I similarly set to to demolish an overgrown ivy - requiring extensive sawing of multiple trunks, and I was again pleased with my ability and quick recovery compared to a few months ago.
"Beginners and Backcare" classes are certainly working for me.
Keep up the good work !
Something else I have noticed, having attended a number of their Zoom classes over the last twelve months:
The constant encouragement to “be aware of the muscles” and “firing on” a muscle group - has led me to be more able to avoid over stretching and over lifting in day to day activities. I think more about engaging muscles first before exerting them.
Many thanks are due to Carrie for her patient encouragement in Zoom classes.

I want to say a HUGE thank you to Andy. A year on, you’ve no idea how all you’ve taught me has infiltrated my life – I rarely have a sore back now and am working on lots of little things in daily life – I can truly say you have changed my life for the better – loads!!! Thank you so much!

Not your average Pilates class. Not too big, friendly and excellent if you have pain anywhere.

Has done wonders for my back! The instructor is very knowledgeable and a great laugh
