I have been practicing Astanga yoga Mysore style for 4 years at the Finnieston Yoga Shala and I could not recommend it highly enough. Cathy and Gem are excellent teachers- their knowledge of the traditional practice and understanding of individual needs and bodies is just unique. Yoga is a marvellous practice to improve physical and mental health, but it does reach incredible results when in accompanied by high quality teaching such as the one you get the Finnieston Yoga Shala. It is a blessing to have Cathy and Gem and the studio just in the hearth of Glasgow West End. It is perfect for all the levels.

Started going to the Finnieston Yoga Shala 6 months ago (a step up from doing the odd yoga class in my local gym). It has a good range of classes across the week within a very welcoming studio attended by likeminded yogis.
The top quality teachers (Cathy & Gem) deliver instruction and assistance with a confidence and enthusiasm that teases your best practise to the surface.
Whether you’re starting out or want to move your practise up a level this is the place to be.

Whether you are looking for a place for your early morning practice, a more relaxed & slow paced Yin session or some sweat in a Vinyasa flow, Finnieston Yoga Shala has it all. And much more! The studio is run by Cathy & Gem, two wonderful teachers with years of experience, along with loads of enthusiasm and passion for the yoga practice. Cathy is an authorized KPJAYI lev 2 ashtanga teacher, her Ashtanga classes follow the traditional Mysore method, but always with help and modification where needed. Gem teaches Hatha, Vinyasa and Ashtanga too, she has a great knowledge of human body and her Yin classes are a great complement to the Yang Ashtanga practice. The studio also offers regular workshops which are very helpful in developing your own practice. I have started my yoga experience with Gem & Cathy and I am so grateful to have found both! The Finnieston Shala is an important part of my life now, they are such a warm community, always eager to welcome new people, of every level and experience.

Finneston Yoga Shala is a great studio with lovely friendly teachers. Cathy is a knowledgeable and encouraging Ashtanga teacher, always happy to help with poses.
The studio is based just off the main road is a nice quiet area and easy to get to from Exhibition Centre train station.
It's a warm and welcoming studio with a lovely feel to it, especially in the winter months when you could easily fall asleep at the end of class! :)

I've been going to Finnieston Yoga Shala almost every day for pretty much two years now, starting as a beginner to Ashtanga (or any yoga practice). Cathy is my main teacher and it was good to know in advance that her years of dedication to the practice is verified by KPJAYI - you know you can feel assured of her experience before you even set foot in the place. Teaching is in accordance with the tradition, therefore you will not be given a posture in Mysore style practice before your body is fully ready for it - which is reassuring!
The instruction really is great and I trust Cathy's guidance completely.
I have also attended classes with Gem and Rose whose teaching is exemplary too. Their technical knowledge of asana for all bodies is superb. You just know that you are in really safe hands with these people.

I started off in this studio a number of years ago as a complete beginner to yoga, and Gem has helped me to cultivate a regular practice. It’s a bright, welcoming studio with classes for all levels, a relaxed atmosphere and a lovely community feel.

From morning mysores to hatha, vinyasa and yin classes, The Finnieston Yoga Shala truly is a wonderful studio. Cathy and Gemma are 2 fantastic teachers and we are very lucky to have them in Glasgow! The studio itself is lovely and peaceful, a real gem hidden in Finnieston.

Not just about 'fancy' postures.
A friendly and welcoming studio offering a range of classes. Notably, a 6- day traditional Ashtanga morning Mysore programme run by KPJAYI authorised teacher, Cathy Moran, and Gemma Maryan. Both are fantastic teachers who bring an incredible wealth of experience, grounded in common sense, that encourages students to explore and develop their own practice within a patient and nurturing environment. Highly recommended.

when it comes to yoga, this studio is truly the hidden gem of glasgow!
you are instantly welcomed with the smell of incense which gives a comforting warmth and focus, no matter what your day has been like so far. the class sizes are small meaning you get a more intimate, authentic experience with more personalised guidance. the teachers are very knowledgable, friendly and keep you inspired to come back! I would highly recommend to yogis of any level, whether just starting out or very advanced.

The best Ashtanga teachers in Glasgow. Cathy and Gem are truly inspiring yoga teachers. They are very knowledgeable in Ashtanga practice and support their students to achieve their maximum potential. I am very lucky that I found them and hopefully practice Ashtanga with them for rest of my life.
