I have been doing Pilates with Russ for the last few months and became aware recently that the permanent ache in my upper back I had been living with for over a year had gone. A physio, gym attendance with a PT and acupuncture could not offer the relief that Pilates seems to have done.
I have osteoporosis in my spine and Russ has been so knowledgeable and supportive with his teaching and advice. I have gained so much confidence in my own physical capabilities since attending his classes and I’m thrilled with the outcome. Thank you!

I've been a hairdresser for25 years and over the last few years my shoulder had grown stiff and I could only lift my arm half way. After doing Russ regular pilates classes my arm is now free and have full range of motion. Even after 2 years of no classes the arm is still free. These classes are slow, precise and really ,really help. Also never had a bad back. Highly recommended The Pilates Guy. X

I never thought I’d like Pilates as I’m a yoga lady but I’ve been doing Pilates with Russ for nearly a year now & it’s helped my back pain tremendously! I can walk for miles now.
My confidence wasn’t great at the start but now I’ll happily go along to classes on my own. I’ve also recently started his online classes & they are fab, you can join the zoom classes or enjoy the on demand content which fits in if you just want a quick one in the mornings or any other time.
I’m also finding I’m able to do more core based exercises now too which is great 😊

Highly recommended, Russ is very friendly, all the exercises are explained in a straightforward way for newbies like me and Russ always gives different options for different levels of ability. Easy to book and participate from home. There are in person sessions as well.

If I could give 6 stars I would! Always great sessions, simple but really effective exercises. Very knowledgable and progresses exercises well so everyone in the class can complete them at the right level for them. The sessions really help to teach you the correct form and posture to continue through into everyday life and training which has really made a difference to lower back pain I was having.

I began Pilates with Russ at the beginning of the year and have really enjoyed it. When we went into lockdown I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to continue but Russ quickly set up his classes through Zoom so I was pleased to be able to keep going albeit in a slightly different way. Russ has a calm, fun and professional approach to his teaching and shows extensive knowledge on how Pilates can help with your general health and also with problem areas. As a beginner, I very much appreciate the clear instructions Russ gives throughout the classes and the prompts of keeping your core engaged! He will also give the option of taking the basic exercise to various levels of intensity for the more advanced clients - something I look forward to achieving in time! Russ always has time for everyone in his classes to discuss any issues you may have and will ensure he can provide a level suitable for a particular condition you may have at the time. Russ shows great commitment to all his clients and sends out a weekly email which are very informative and always gives us an opportunity to get in touch with him with any queries or feedback we may have. I also find it helpful as it reminds me to book my sessions for the following week! If you’re thinking of trying Pilates then I would, without a doubt, recommend The Pilates Guy.

I have always wanted to join a Pilates class, Russ and his classes have impressed me so much. He is clear in his instructions and always encourages you to work at your own level and then gives options when you are ready to take your session up a notch.
I play golf and struggle from time to time with lower back pain. And have to say that since attending the classes with Russ my back has improved as we work on Core Strength and Spinal Mobility.
I highly recommend Pilates with Russ for everyone, just try it and I am sure you won’t regret it.

I started doing Pilates over 2 years ago with Russ. He’s an amazing instructor & always keeps it fresh and interesting. I do a lot of running and cycling - yet rarely get injured - which I’d put down in no small part to Pilates & working on my core & all the other exercises he takes you through. In lockdown and since then I’ve made full use of his excellent Pilates Guy online service. Cheap at only £8 a month & access to what must now be over 60 videos of varying lengths and challenges. Very easy to fit round the working day & my weekly activities. It really is an excellent service.

Russ's classes are relaxed and informal, and are suitable however experienced (or not!) you may be. Russ starts each exercise at 'entry' level to ensure you are set up correctly and then builds up a range options to enable you to work as hard as you wish - Russ never pushes you to 'go harder', instead offering encouragement for you to challenge yourself when you feel ready. Russ offers any individual guidance or correction that may be needed quietly, clearly and sensitively. I find that the hour goes by very quickly 😃
Russ also offers PGOD, a large (and expanding) video library of a variety of Pilates sessions, which is handy to dip into if you miss a live session or are able to fit in an extra session inbetween classes.

I was advised to take up Pilates after a stress fracture in my tibia and I must admit I was quite sceptical at first.
Russ is a really good teacher. All of the classes I’ve attended have been via zoom and work really well. Russ gives good guidance and instructions and ensures he offers different levels per exercise.
Thoroughly recommend and if you’re new to Pilates his lessons would be a very good place to start

For the last year I have had issues with my hips, particularly if doing impact exercise, especially running. I began pilates with Russ and his sessions have really helped. He is very clear in his instructions and always provides varied levels throughout to suit everyones needs. Russ's pilates has taught me the right way to do exercise, strenghten and the importance of my core! I have less hip pain and see a difference since starting his lessons. I cannot recommend Russ highly enough and I can't imagine my exercise regime without Pilates Guy!

I joined Russ's Pilates sessions after developing issues with my back which was impacting my whole lifestyle and making me miserable.
Several months on my back issues have improved as has my whole body motility.
Russ's classes are aimed at all levels, you can decide which suits you as you go along giving you the opportunity to push yourself at your own pace.

I started pilates with Russ as a beginner just over a year ago and then continued during lockdown with the online classes. These have been great and part of my routine this year. Russ is a passionate professional and his classes suit people of all levels because the instructions are very clear and there are choices for different abilities. He is very committed to help all his clients and to make sure they get the most out of the classes especially if there are any queries or aches and pains.
As a golfer pilates has helped me tremendously with understanding how strengthening my core can help with balance and posture which in turn is beneficial to my golf swing. I often have lower back stiffness and pain and now know which pilates exercises can help with this. I use some of these in my pre-golf warm up – especially useful on colder days!
I would thoroughly recommend pilates with Russ for anyone interested.

In the last four years I have had two L5-S1 lower back operations. I have tried many therapies, including Yoga, Craniosacral, Physiotherapy, sports massage to name but a few. I came across Russ at a local gym and was taken by his style, consideration and knowledge. For me Russ has provided a regime that works. I have more flexibility, strength and balance than I had before. The simple pleasure of doing up shoe laces is understating the changes he has enabled me to achieve. I met Russ when he was training to be a Pilates instructor. He told me his story of how he suffered intense back pain, I think through rugby (forgive me Russ if I am mistaken). I remember feeling his pain, a young man who couldn't get out of bed due to the pain. Then he found Pilates which solved his problem. When you find something like this, that helps you so much, passion is born. You only have to look at the "guy" to see that it works. You only need one conversation with him to see that all he wants is to spread the Pilates word by helping people. If you are in pain, or want to avoid pain - and want to know you are being taught by a true professional.. Just call Russ. If you don't like him - fine. But I bet you will.

I injured my back badly playing rugby in 2011. The injury was debilitating, I couldn’t walk 10 minutes without pain, let alone run or play any competitive sport. I underwent surgery to repair a slipped disk, together with multiple other procedures and spending a fortune on a chiropractor, but to no avail.
Then a friend recommended I took up Pilates. Russ was recommended to me by David Lloyd. I am now a regular! Although sceptical at first, after a month of regular sessions the pain started to ease, together with gaining a general energised feeling. Although it is still a work in progress I have started to really feel the benefits, including less sciatica down my leg, stronger core and less noticeable chronic lower back pain. I’m now able to play 9 holes of golf relatively pain free, which 6 months ago seemed out of my reach. If like me you’ve had to give up sports because of back pain then I’d throughly recommend paying Russ a visit.

Ive been meaning to do this review for some time. After the last few weeks and Russ has been off on well earned Dad duty, we have had a couple of stand in instructors. I feel this has given me some context as to what it is specifically about why I like the class Russ offers.
As a mid 40s desk working powerlifter i arrived at a point many many years ago that told me that my longevity in my lifting was fundamentally enshrined in how well i could move. I have tried many many different variations of Yoga, Pilates and Mobility classes over the years all with varying levels of effectiveness or indeed resulting in my being injured.
My requirements are simple, I need to be supple but not bendy and capable of bracing for all my compound movements.
Russ sets up his classes at a pace that allows me to follow the instructions and make my own decisions about how my body feels on that day as to how far/hard i push myself. There is absolutely no need to push yourself to copy others doing advanced movements if you simply are not in the same place as those around you. Critically Russ positively encourages you to work at a level you are comfortable with and offers many variations on the exercises used in the class.
I know my own future has already benefitted from taking the classes Russ does at Titan Performance. I see week on week improvements in my ability to continue to train at a relatively advanced level in powerlifting while simultaneously being capable of getting out of bed without all the old aches and pains.
The last few weeks have shown me that Yoga and Pilates come in many forms, instructors all teach based on their own preferences, find one that works for your needs. Im pleased to say having found Russ and his Pilates coaching I wouldnt hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
