I knew very little about Somatics when I made an appointment with Liz, after coming across her instagram page, but I am so glad I booked a one-to-one with her! It was fascinating to have Liz observing how I walk, sit and stand and to hear her feedback and expertise during our session. The way she explained things and applied her technique was so revealing, not to mention it left me feeling absolutely wonderful and relaxed. The word “melting” comes to mind and describes well how I felt at times. I also felt a real difference in my posture and the muscles that had been tight around my neck. Somatics would be valuable to anyone and everyone, no doubt. It is very gentle and easy but also incredibly revealing and nurturing. I wholeheartedly recommend Liz to anyone looking to improve movement and posture or to ease pain. She is an absolute find!

Liz has been my Somatics teacher now for approximately a year. I do a job that causes muscle tension, stiffness and pain and since finding Liz's Somatics class and then 1:1 tuition my body has become pain free and increased flexibility /range of movement. Liz goes above and beyond with the tutoring she provides and without her I believe I would struggle to carry on with my work. She is passionate about her work and it shows in her teaching and continued support. I thoroughly recommend the practice and her tutoring.

Liz's teaching, encouragement, patience and understanding are nothing short of wonderful. Wow - what an impact Liz and Somatics have had on my health and well-being! After only 6 sessions, Somatics (and, just as importantly, Liz's approach to teaching it) has done more for me than ten years of Chiropractic appointments (seriously!). Liz is an amazing teacher and I can't recommend her enough.

Liz is fabulous and through Somatics she has helped me enormously. When I first went to see her I could barely move my arms and had a lot of pain in my shoulders and neck. Somatics is now very much part of my lifestyle and I am playing tennis again which is great. Liz is extremely knowledgeable about her subject matter and knows exactly what the problem is and how to help. I highly recommend her, she knows her stuff and is a lovely person too!

Liz has a passion for Somatics that is evident immediately. Her inclusive, patient and compassionate style of teaching is always refreshing. Somatics now plays a vital role in my life, initially only finding it by chance after a sudden stroke. Liz has played a key role in my recovery and gently encouraged me to read and practice this movement therapy, which I continue to do with multiple benefits. No matter what stage of the journey you are on with Somatics, whatever your age, health, size or shape, I highly recommend Liz to support you along the way. Ronnie.

I have been attending Liz's online Somatic Classes for some months now, I first started with some personal 1:1, but then attended Liz's beginners course that then help me move to the weekly online classes. Liz is an excellent teacher, her communication is clear and precise I never have any trouble following her instructions. I feel amazing after each session and this has brought me much clarity and understanding of my own body and where I hold tension, i am more equipment now on how to release this on a daily basis though this mindful approach to movement..... I highly recommend Liz's classes and personal work to everyone.

I can’t recommend Somatics with Liz highly enough. Every lesson is so enjoyable and, without fail, I always feel better at the end of a session. Liz is passionate, very knowledgeable, patient and so enthusiastic about imparting her expertise of Somatics. I have especially enjoyed doing the ‘Red Light’ class recently, I’m so amazed at how at the end you feel so much taller and opened out - probably my favourable lesson to date. Also hugely enjoyable is the monthly Nidra night, a guided relaxation class which is a fabulous way to unwind. Thanks Liz, long may you continue to help us all with your gentle exercise.

I would totally recommend Liz Underwood from Somatics - she is like a magician! I have had chronic lower back pain for so many years, I was visiting a physio nearly every month, but with her incredibly specific and gentle interventions which include contractions as opposed to stretching, I have now been able to gain a much greater understanding of my own body and I can now recognise what I need to do to get rid of pain and prevent pain. I have not been to the physio for over two years and I am NOT in pain. We live in a world where we are brainwashed into thinking everything needs a tablet or a medical intervention but in fact, if we take the time to learn how to get in tune with our bodies, we are able to know what we need and how to deal with it. Somatics is not as recognised as it should be because it is not a 'money making machine', it is simply learning a set of exercises that release tension and help us live and move in a healthier, more INTELLIGENT way.

Somatics delivered with Liz’s expertise and inclusive approach are incredible. I have practiced somatics with Liz for some time and I always finish a class feeling taller and unravelled, with less tension in my body and mind. Liz’s positivity and calm manner flow through. For anyone feeling uncomfortable in their body, I thoroughly recommend somatics with Liz.

I love my weekly Somatics class. Liz is a great teacher, she ensures that everyone understands and teaches in a calm and caring way.
Somatics is completely different to any exercise class I've done before, I'm so glad I've found it! The movements are gentle but make a real difference to the tension in muscles we all have from poor posture etc.
The class also helps my mental health, especially during the Pandemic. It's been lovely to see familiar, friendly faces very week. The class is really an opportunity to take 'time out' from the world for a while. I would highly recommend to everyone.

Liz Underwood, is very professional in her manner and her explanation of the movements. I went to see her because I was suffering with heaviness and numbness down my right leg. It was even affecting my sleep at night because I just could not get comfortable. I am unsure what I did to aggravate this unusual feeling.
I had been to Liz before when she was able to hold classes. I had continued to do many of the exercises I had learned there, but I needed something extra for my problem.
Luckily I still had Liz’s contact information so I emailed her asking for help,
I had a reply within the day, and we set up a zoom appointment. Liz also sent me a video of the exercises I would need to be doing. With in two sessions of exercises and a discussion about being mindful of how I sat and carried shopping etc, it was amazing how quickly the numbness and heaviness was resolved.
I would definitely recommend visiting, calling Liz. I will also go back if I suffer muscular pain issues again.

Liz’s Somatic classes offer a wonderful and gentle exercise which releases tension, aches and pains. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and each class is fresh and interesting.

Quite simply, Liz has changed my life! I’d been to her yoga classes in the past and then received an email from her promoting her classes to help get rid of pain and stiffness, a thing called Somatic Movement - I’d never heard of it but as I’d suffered constantly for many years from aching muscles and joints and a permanent ‘bad back’ it seemed worth a try... It works. It works brilliantly and beyond anything I could have hoped for. I have been largely pain-free since her very first class four years ago; it was like being given a new body, one that worked and fitted me properly. I’d always enjoyed Liz’s teaching style in yoga classes and I have loved experiencing how she has developed her knowledge of Somatics and has grown into an expert communicator of the process. If you want to feel calmer, more comfortable in your body, heart and mind book a class. You really won’t regret it.

I have been one of Liz’s students for a few years now and I can honestly say that without Somatics I would not be as mobile as I am now. After every class I am totally amazed how much difference such small movements can make to my body. Some classes make me feel taller, others give me more freedom and fluidity when walking and certain classes will give me a much wider range of movement of my head, neck and shoulders.
Somatics has made me much more aware of my body. When I wake up in the morning and I feel stiff or some discomfort in a certain area, I now understand which exercises to do to relief this.
Due to the Coronavirus, classes are now held via Zoom, but this has not affected the quality or results of the classes at all. Liz can still see you and is therefore still able to correct anything you might not be doing quite right. She is a great teacher and is always there to offer advise when you need it - in and outside of class.

After having become frustrated by going to yoga classes and being asked to take up postures which literally made me felt ill, what a relief to find a skilled teacher who makes me feel better by the end of the session rather than worse. Simple, gentle movements following Liz's calming and clear instructions have helped me manage my chronic back pain as well as improve my posture.
