I’d been drawn towards the benefits of TM for some time and took the plunge in attending one of Chris’s Zoom Classes last year. His reassuringly calm manner makes TM practice easy to get into and there is always time for whatever questions you may need clarifying. I took the training course from Chris via zoom in August 2021, and it was one of the best decisions of my life. Chris is an excellent teacher who immediately put me at ease. Since taking the course, I have read Jack Forem's book on Transcendental Meditation, and the process by which Chris taught me is exactly the same as Mr. Forem's description of the process. So if you are concerned that you may not be getting the "authentic" experience, have no fear- this is the real deal.
About 6 months after learning the technique, I went through a very stressful period in my life. We were in the process of moving into a new home, and at the same time my work schedule became way more demanding than usual resulting in long hours, late nights, and weekends. I was drowning and let my practice slip. After a couple of months, and seeing how much more stressed I was, and how poorly I was dealing with these challenges, my wife looked at me and said "you need to start meditating again". As usual, she was right. I have since resumed my twice daily practice, and the results have been fantastic. I no longer feel stressed. When problems arise, I can meet them with a smile. I am sleeping better, and even have the emotional energy to not only maintain my relationships, but invest in them. I cannot recommend this class highly enough. If you are considering it, do yourself and those you love a favor, and go for it. It is a small investment in yourself that yields benefits far greater than the time and money you put in!

I have meditated for decades but only since joining Chris' online groups have I really finally cemented the process and started to get amazing benefits. I felt the power of meditation became particularly strong when joining the online group. It's thought-provoking how there can be an energy connection even over the internet!
One day I came to the group while still in shock at the news of the rapid loss of a good friend through Covid that afternoon. For the first ten minutes the emotions and thoughts rambled round as usual. And then that miracle of inner nature took place yet again. Chris taught me TM a few weeks ago over zoom, and It's seamlessly become a key part of my daily routine. I've never before found meditation to be so effortless and natural as TM is. I always feel a sense of deep rest with each session, and i'm feeling that restful alertness flow into my day to day activity too.

I did my original course of TM with Chris 11 years ago in Wigan.I can honestly say that I have never looked back since.The course has immeasurably improved all aspects of my life since then, my wife can definitely vouch for that as well. I would say that, apart from the many health benefits, the practise definitely improves your outlook, helps you overcome problems and gives you a much more relaxed view of life. My yoga teacher had been on one of Chris's TM courses in Ringwood and mentioned it to me as she thought I might be interested. To be honest, I would have hesitated had she not assured me that there was nothing weird about TM (or Chris!) and I would not be drawn into some mysterious sect. She was absolutely right. Chris is a really straightforward guy, sincere and pragmatic. As for TM itself, I've no idea why, particularly given that in essence it's so simple, but it really works for me. I was taught to meditate by Chris 30 years ago.
The effects of the first meditation for me were astounding - so much so that I meditated twice a day for ten years without missing a single one, and have meditated regularly since.
Chris is wonderfully calm and clear teacher, and the technique he teaches is both simple and profound. There is a good follow up program to ensure that you're doing it right (the only thing you can do wrong is to put effort into it) and to give you an overview of how it works.

I learned TM with Chris Greathead about 10years ago and wish it had been 30years. It makes a large difference to everyday life even if one does have lapses in application. Calmness in mind leads to calmness in matters physical in so many ways. I was so happy to find such an accessible TM course, both in terms of the price point and Chris' focus on bringing this meditation to the masses. I had previously been put off by the esoteric and elitist nature of the TM 'brand' yet intrigued by this ancient method of meditation touted by many inspiring people as being so effortless and powerful. So I was excited to find Chris who stands as an independent teacher and understands the baggage that TM carries in the West. Having trained through the official channels and with heaps of experience under his belt he is clearly a trustworthy teacher but is also really down-to-earth and presents the meditation practice in a totally secular manner.
I was also pleased about the ability to learn online during the pandemic - having done it this way I can't see that there is anything extra that would be gained by doing it in person - aside from the obvious that almost anything is better in the real - but learning 'through the screen' honestly didn't have many drawbacks and the method is so simple to grasp with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. I also really liked being with such an international group because of our ability to connect online, that felt quite special.
I've been practising every day and can honestly say it's the easiest meditation practice I have ever done having dabbled in mindfulness, vipassana, the metta bhavana and kundalini meditation in the past. It feels like a warm bath for the brain and I look forward to my practice :) I've felt generally more balanced, creative and laugh more easily since starting. I hope if you're on the fence about giving this a go that you give it a shot - Chris also offers concessionary rates and I feel it is money well spent. I hope this method becomes available to those who most need it as a free therapeutic tool one day as well.

Chris taught me TM in York eight years ago. Although retired fro work I was still carrying a sack full of stress over my shoulder. A group of about eight of us trained together at the York Clinic near the racecourse. After an explanation of the technique we each had an individual short ceremony (now optional, I believe) paying homage to the founders and subsequent lineage of teachers down to Chris. Most people will know that TM is a mantra based system of meditation. We were each given our mantra on a one to one basis and asked not to divulge it then the group based training continued. I cannot claim to have meditated for 20 minutes twice a day for 8 years. I have longish runs then lay off for a while until it becomes clear I need to restart. I sometimes feel I'm like the guy with mental health issues who takes his meds regularly but stops when he feels good - if only I could keep it going all the time! But, I am what I am and do what I can. My wife says that I'm a nicer person when I meditate so that will do me.
The new website is excellent and easy to negotiate. Highly recommended.

In August 2019, I found myself becoming stressed with work. I was struggling to sleep, found it difficult to switch off, became easy to anger, it’s fair to say that this was having a negative effect on my relationship with my wife
I stumbled across a YouTube video about Transcendental Meditation (TM) in October 2019 and became interested in the subject. Initially I was sceptical about the whole thing and it sounded far too good to be true, although I remained curious.
In December 2019 I took the decision to learn Transcendental Meditation with Chris Greathead in Manchester, after speaking with him at some length over the telephone.
The decision to learn this technique was one of the best decisions I have ever made, the fee to learn the technique is worth every penny.
I had a very strong experience the first time I mediated; I immediately knew that this was something I wanted to keep doing. Closing my eyes, repeating my mantra until my thoughts stopped, I then drifted into a profound sense of calm and felt at peace.
This technique works.
Chris is an excellent teacher, he’s very approachable and able to answer any questions you have. I felt immediately at ease when I first spoke to him on the telephone. Chris is also there for any further guidance you may need after the initial 3-day session is complete, with follow up sessions online and in person being available. There is no pressure to attend these, but the support is there if you want it.
I meditate on most days, at least once but usually twice a day for 20 minutes. This small act has been incredibly beneficial and I’m a better person than I was 4 months ago:
• I’m a better listener and find it easier to empathise with other people
• I have enthusiasm about doing new things, whereas previously I lacked motivation.
• I am more patient and not quick to anger
• I sleep better and am generally more relaxed
• I can focus better at work, I’m making better decisions
• I don’t get tired in the middle of the day anymore
• I have more energy and have lost almost a stone in weight
• I read at least a book a week, whereas previously I’d not read for pleasure in years

I learned TM with Chris a few years ago and it's had a profound impact on my life.
I was pretty stressed at the time and thought learning TM in Edinburgh might be a relaxing way to spend a weekend, away from London. I've always been very cynical towards anything with any kind of spiritual element and I'm pretty bad at keeping to good habits. I also thought my brain was just too busy to ever be any good at meditation. But I was desperate enough to give it a try.
Even as I was walking down the street to meet Chris for the first time, I almost just ducked into a pub instead. But I made it.
Chris understood my cynicism and embarrassment but had a warmth that immediately put me at ease. And when, after some chatting, he taught me the very simple technique that is TM, it had an impact straight away. It's not that my negative thoughts disappeared, but the anxiety attached to them did. TM doesn't ask you to shut out negative thoughts or empty your brain. You just focus on a word you're given by your instructor for 20 minutes and don't try to control what happens next. Ridiculously simple, but somehow very powerful.
I've kept it up every day since (much to my surprise). It's helped me control my stress, but it's also had other effects - I've reduced my drinking, my concentration's improved, my sleep's improved. These things just incrementally but noticeably changed over time - without any particularly concerted effort on my part.
I'd recommend TM to anyone. And Chris was a great instructor.

Having used the Calm app for around 9 months, I thought I'd try Transcendental Meditation (TM) due to the number of positive reviews online. I'm not spiritual or religious in any way whatsoever, so was quite sceptical prior to undertaking the course with Chris. Regardless of my scepticism, it certainly appears to be working for me. If you are finding life a bit challenging or just interested in this type of thing, I would certainly go in with an open mind and give it a go. The technique is very simple but you need someone like Chris to take you through the nuances of it. Doing it via Zoom was no problem either. In fact, probably a lot easier!

I have only been practising the meditation for 3 months but have noticed very definite positive changes. I am calmer, more centred and my thoughts no longer spiral out of control. As someone with a Science background and general focus on evidence-based decision making, i took my time and did some research on TM before taking the plunge. I also decided i didn't want to learn from the formal TM movement, given the history and general controversy around fees and (lack of) access to those on the lower end of the economic spectrum (who often need it more than anybody!). I'm very glad i did pursue this however, even more so with Chris Greathead as teacher, because it has been the single best investment i have ever made in my life. That's quite a statement to make, i realise that, but i feel TM is the gift that keeps on giving.
After learning and sticking at it regular for about 3 month in 2016, the changes in me were very noticeable. I was calmer, relaxed, but at the same time very focused and able to function much better in often stressful circumstances.
More recently, i endured several big life events where i lost my father and my job in close succession. I am absolutely convinced i handled this situation far better than i would had i not had TM to fall back on during this time. Moreover, i was able to interview and take another job shortly after, to then be promoted to a more senior position within a relatively short period of time.
In closing, TM keeps me grounded to the 'real'. That being, connected to Nature around us. When i meditate, i feel i become absorbed into it all and appreciated the insignificance of my troubles in the grand scheme of things, and recognise that the ups and downs are all part of life's great tapestry.
Chris provided the access way to this way of living for me. He done so with great experience and care, and continues to support me whenever needed. I therefore cannot recommend him enough and hope that this review will inspire you to take the plunge.

I learned TM with Chris Greathead in Newcastle. Chris is very down to earth and has a calm and welcoming manner. I have practiced TM daily (sometimes more) for more than 10 years now and I find it works in different ways on different days but always has a positive effect. I feel it gives my brain time and space to do what it needs to do-whether that’s have a break or work something through without being distracted with outside stimulation. A very important part of self care for me which helps keep me balanced-it feels like a treat for my mind 😊

Attending Chris’s refresher course was the best decision I have made in a long time.
I first learned TM in 1979 in Broadstairs, alas over the years I meditated less frequently forgetting the huge benifits of the practice. Now thanks to Chris I am back on course having deep beneficial meditations.

My dad practiced TM meditation and swore by it. Through his stressful job it made him a calmer more positive person. It was always something I was very interested in doing, but life gets in the way and I never got the chance until a few yrs ago.
Chris taught me TM meditation and it’s one of the best decision I’ve ever made. I am now back to doing studying, something I would not have taken lightly previously with having 3 kids and a job. I feel when I’m getting overwhelmed with it all, I put it all down and go and meditate. I also do it first thing in the morning before everyone gets up ‘me time’. I think it’s good for my kids to know that I meditate as it’s such a natural way to take some positive time out for yourself to feel better.
My daughter is going to University next year and we are going to book Chris next time he is up in Edinburgh, as I think this is a gift to her that will last a lifetime and help her through her studies.

I had read and heard a lot about meditation, but what's the point of hearing good things and never experiencing them yourself. SO.... I enrolled with TM North East with Chris Greathead. I initially didn't feel anything noticeable and so after about 4 months I stopped. Then...WOW! suddenly I was plunged back into a state I had prior to TM. In those 4 months there had been a gradual change but because the change had occurred gradually, I hadn't realised. Now after stopping I could appreciate the benefits TM delivered. We are attracted to what we perceive as pleasurable.
Now my attraction to TM has been 21 years. And the benefits have never ceased. I describe the TM state as, 'a consistent blissful high'.
But what's the point of hearing good things about TM and never experiencing them yourself? Do yourself the biggest favour of you life...Go find out yourself :-)

I learned TM in May 18 in Edinburgh and found it helped me to better cope with a very stressful and anxious period. I can’t claim to have meditated for 20 mins twice a day every day, but I have kept it going fairly regularly and I have noticed my blood pressure and resting pulse rates are both reduced. I sleep better and friends have noticed I am a much calmer person. I went on a weekend retreat last November organised and led by Chris and found it an extremely rewarding experience. I learned so much more and got a lot out of it. I only wish I had learned from him when I was in my 20's and not in my 60’s! Still, better late than never and I recommend it to anyone.

I have been practicing TM for over forty years - on and off. While 'ON' - I have found a peace of mind and a purpose to my days, without being consciously aware of it.
It is in retrospect and during my 'OFF' periods that I realise how many benefits I get from regular practice, and then it is back 'ON' again.
I personally have not always found it easy to develop and strengthen my practice, being easily distracted and also life, all to often, interfering or appearing to be more important.
However, it is definitely worth while to try and maintain the practice.

Many years ago, must be nearly 30 now I joined a meditation course run by Chris at my work, Boulby mine near Whitby more out of curiosity than any desire to become a better person something must have worked because I’m still meditating and enjoying the experience, I think because it is such an easy thing to do requiring no effort, and just 20 mins twice a day is probably the main reason I’ve kept it up even to the extent I now include 15 mins Yoga and 5 mins pranayama (Yogic breathing) before meditating. Is it doing me any good, well I used to be on blood pressure medication and now im not, worth doing for that alone.
