Choosing Tony and his team as our designers was critical to the success of the Beechfield project and we remain delighted clients. The house is spectacular. We had commissioned another architect prior to Tony, who threw planning and design blockers in the way of what we were seeking to achieve whereas Tony’s approach was to design our dream home and then manage the planning, which went through without a hitch. Tony was able to immediately visualise how we could take advantage of the south facing opportunity enabling us to enjoy solar gain in the winter and shade in the summer which has been a huge energy saving bonus. He was sensitive to our budget and adjusted the initial design to ensure that we never felt that we were compromising. We’ve been living in the house now for three years and there is nothing that we have, in retrospect, wish we had done differently. We love it and engaging with Tony was the key to this outcome

He also helped us get planning permission on both properties and steered through the approvals with authorities that had a reputation for being difficult. During the build process Tony and Chris assisted our Project Manager with any queries. Met Tony and Chris at Grand Designs London about 5 years ago, we had just purchased our 2 acre plot in Dorset on the top of a hill with 360 degree views. Planning was a long 2 1/2 year fight with countless plans, meetings, emails and phone calls. We started our build in May 2018 and hope to move in before Christmas next year 2019. The house over 400sqm, upside down has large open plan areas with over 90 sq m of balcony's facing south just as we asked for. I am project managing this complicated build myself, I have no previous building experience so I do need help, lots of it ! Tony Holt Designs have designed exactly what was asked for, within our budget and have managed this project through planning and construction design to date. They spent months working on construction drawings and designing out expensive problems with the cantilevers and large glass openings. We have 5 sets of Italian triple glazed lift and slide doors on the upper floor each weighing over 700 kg so lots of steel. I have called them hundreds of times over the last year or so and always talk with Tony or Chris, any problems I have are dealt with straight away, plans or detail queries are emailed as we speak. They have helped us with design consultants, materials and suppliers and are now designing our ceilings ready for our lighting scheme. They will site visit just to see if things are OK and if I need any help. In short, I could not have got to this stage with out Tony Holt Design and both Tony and Chris have become good friends of ours. For the service we have had and are still getting they are worth far more than I have paid. If I was to self build again I would not hesitate to use Tony and Chris, you would be hard pushed to get a better service. Gary & Susan Hughes

We engaged with the team back in 2016 to remodel and enlarge the 1940's house we had just purchased. Tony and Chris visited the property and after a few weeks came back to us with an amazing design. Apart from a small number of tweaks the first draft is what we ended up with. They understood our brief perfectly and we are complimented by everybody that visits the house on how incredible it is.

I switched to using this company from another architectural firm following the initial design stage because the quote for the subsequent stages from the initial firm was significantly higher. The technician, Chris, has been extremely good throughout the whole process and provided me with very detailed drawings which the builders said were far better to work from than many others they see. He made some suggestions regarding the initial architectural design/plans which definitely improved the build and there has been prompt responses to any queries I've had along the way. I highly recommend them to anyone thinking (or in the process) of a self-build, extension or conversion.

We spent 3 years looking for the ideal house in the ideal location and just couldn't find what we were looking for. Fortunately, we had the ideal location with our existing property, but it wasn't what we needed or wanted for a growing family and bigger ambitions. We asked Tony to come up with some design proposals to convert our existing property into something that would meet our needs. From the first draft it was clear that we had made the right decision and over the next few months we tweaked the design with Tony's guidance until we ended up with exactly what we wanted. Tony's designs have a distinctive style, but he is sympathetic to the customers wants and practical requirements. We asked Tony to take control of the whole process from design & planning to finishing specs; as part of this he helped keep things on track with the builders throughout the process. He was also a good sounding board when those extra costs started rolling in to sense check things! 11 months after breaking ground we moved back into our new 'forever' home and couldn't be happier with the results. I would highly recommend Tony and his team for any of your architectural / design needs.

After seeing loads of Tony Holt designs and project images online, in self build magazines and on Pinterest we decided to call him up and have a chat about our upcoming project. We were new to self build and weren't really sure where to start but after our initial meeting instantly knew Tony's creative and insightful ideas were a perfect match. We worked with Tony and Chris for approx 18mths, the standard of work was exceptional, the support throughout was always there and many times they went above and beyond when we encountered challenges along the way with the various suppliers and manufacturers. An estate agent popped in today for an initial valuation and was so impressed with the design, the proportions and WOW factors we have incorporated into our house that he thought it worth about 10% more than a similar sized new build close by. The design fees are an investment and in our view worth every penny and some! In short we couldn't recommend Tony Holt Design highly enough.

Having bought a single story detached Arts and Crafts house in Eastbourne in 2018 we did a lot of research and really liked the design concepts Tony had developed on similar properties. We initiated the design process in September 2018 and went through planning fist time in May 2019. We are now developing Phase 2 of the renovation and hope to start building in the spring next year. This is our first renovation project and always we felt that our ideas and design requests were considered and implemented if possible. The design team came up with different creative options and were very supportive through a challenging planning process. I would recommend Tony Holt design, and we look forward to the end result.

I used Tony and his team to undertake a very challenging self build project. The designs options tabled were well considered with full justification of the pro's and con's. Tony and his team helped developed my preferred option into a stunning self build design which was also well considered in terms of structure and technical details. Planning was granted with very positive comments from the Local Planning Authority. A full set of technical plans were produced which my project manager used to deliver a building with stunning results. I also asked Tony to attend site to check on the works and assist the Project Manager in order to achieve the architectural finish we wanted to obtain.
