Reviews of Worcester Cathedral
k. m.
Free to enter place of worship. Worth going to see the tomb of King John alone. On this visit certain sections weren't open due to repairs , which did spoil the visit a little. There are some great tombs and a wonderful carved wooden triptych. Also a lovely cloister area to walk round which is where you will find a cafe, toilets and gift shop. We'll worth a visit. Most days the cathedral shuts at 5pm

Beautiful cathedral, would love to have gone inside for a look round but there was an event on. So went into the gardens at the back which has lovely views over the river towards the city. Managed to get some pics as the sun was setting.
S. L.
Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Worcester. No admission fees but donations are very much appreciated. So much to look at- from the stained glass to the intricate carvings and painting on the ceiling and altars/ tombs.
J. U.
Stunning Cathedral and so well maintained. Spent over half an hour in there, interactive info on King John's tomb which was really interesting and lots of descriptions and museum artefacts showing the abundance of fossils both in the Cathedral and the surrounding areas. Well worth a visit.
S. S.
Stunning, vast, an overwhelming space. Personally, I could have done without all the posters and educational displays in the crypt which, to my mind, subverted the atmosphere of the place but that doesn't really detract from what is an astonishing, humbling experience. And the café is pretty good too...
p. b.
This place is enormous inside and lovely to look at.
You can go on a guided tour into areas that the normal public can't get for about £7 at the time of this review.
Or you can simply go in and look around most of it for free.
There's s little cafe inside as well as some colourful artwork from various schools in the Cloister which brightens things up a lot.
Well worth an hour or more for a family on a budget.
G. A.
Amazing Cathedral with fascinating history of England. Worth spending a few hours here and a tour if you can. Great setting on the river bank.
S. F.
Had a lovely visit, having met up with friends we hadn't seen for a very long time, due to Covid restrictions. Beautiful cathedral 🙏
M. M.
Fabulous Cathedral with welcoming staff and volunteers. Really interesting history and quirky features, including the pink giraffe!
P. H.
I have visited this cathedral many times and always find it to be a fascinating place to visit. The staff are very helpful and there is a handy leaflet, freely available which shows the highlights of this wonderful building.
Unfortunately, due to recent storm damage, not all areas are accessible but I would not let that prevent a visit to this historic building.
Highlights to look out for are the tombs of King John and Arthur Prince of Wales.
S. M.
Such a beautiful Cathedral. Free to enter. There are little posts that you can pay 6 quid contactless which seems underpriced.
T. D.
Absolutely loved going around the cathedral. I down loaded King John who was very entertaining. The quiz was good fun. Lots to see. There were interactive portals for you to use. Staff were knowledge and happy to answer any questions.
There were toilets and a cafe if needed. Wheelchairs can access the main floor of the cathedral but not the crypt.
I think children who can read would like King John.
G. H.
£6 donation via contactless at entry or a donation to help running of cathedral .thanks to the staff I met .easy to get to once leaving Worcester foregate station .left coming out and keep on main st till you get to Elgar statue with the cathedral straight ahead .well worth a visit as part of a day out in Worcester especially if the horse racing is on at night ( 5.50pm start time when I was there )

Worcester is a magnificent cathedral. Built between the years of 1084 - 1504, incorporating several building styles including Norman & Gothic. Two particular features to look for are the tombs of King John who was the brother of Richard the 1st (Lionheart) & of Prince Arthur, eldest son of Henry the 7th, he should have been King instead of Henry the 8th, but, died very young, before being crowned. There are fine examples of stained glass as well as the majestic stonework, an enormous central tower, also an open ornamental garden which is surrounded by the beautiful cloister. Within the cloister you'll also find a cafe/tea room. There is also a gift shop. I thoroughly recommend a visit to this lovely cathedral when visiting the city of Worcester.
L. J.
Visited with the family
Its a huge church
Very calm and soulful feeling
Need atleast 4-5 hours to go 5hrough the architecture
Will visit again soon
J. M.
Wow....what a truly amazing experience! Went to see and experience the 'Space' Spectacular Sound and Light Show, so beautiful calming and informative and gave people the opportunity to really LOOK at the amazing architecture of our wonderful cathedral. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there this evening 😀.
B. M.
This is such a beautiful cathedral, which really honours its history and continuing duty as a place of worship and reflection. Make sure you don't miss the crypt!
K. F.
Another beautiful historic cathedral ticked off my list, definitely worth a visit, was a shame couldn't see everything due to storm damage but we will return when we can
K. H.
A very special place to come and spend some time contemplating or looking at the incredible architecture or sculptures etc. If you have children, there is normally some activities running during school holidays with fantastic guides leading them.
R. V.
Cheerio! This place was absolutely smashing! I have never seen anything of the sort. The beauty of the place still has me in awe 2 months later!
a. v.
Stunning and inviting at the same time. Very helpful guides and a real surprise was the café in the cloisters. We don't see that in France.
S. G.
Beautiful cathedral. Stewards were very friendly and helpful.
Lots of interactive screens and boards to help explain the history.
M. M.
Beautiful Cathedral whose origins go back to St Wulfstan in 1084 with major remodelling in the following centuries. Strong Gothic influences throughout, but this place of worship incorporates many architectural styles.
The Crypt houses a collection of information boards providing alot of detail on the history of the Cathedral and the influences of St Wulfstan and St Oswald.
Lots to see here, don't miss the beautiful Cloisters and Chapter House. The Cathedral Shop, Caffe and Toilets are all accessed from the Cloisters. A number of tombs reside within the Cathedral most significant of which is that of King John.
You used to be able to access the Cathedral from College Green on the South Side. But this access is now closed, and all access is from the entrance on the North Side.
P. G.
As cathedrals go, I loved it! Could have spent all day there! It's calm and peaceful. One day I'd like to return and hear the organ in all of it's glory!
S. L.
Beautifull place.well worth a visit. You can go there to relax and take in its history
S. W.
It was free entrance, but you can make a voluntary donation, if you wish. Free map, reasonably priced guide book. Very informative. The wheelchair was able to access most of the Cathedral. Tours are available if you want. There is a cafe for refreshments. The choir was practicing while we were there, it was lovely to sit and listen for a while.
P. S.
Wonderful building to look around with helpful staff .choir was practicing for a concert which was a bonus
P. L.
Amazing font, stained glass windows and the ceiling is just stunning. Outside beautiful huge trees and a monument to fallen soldiers. Very moving experience.
A. O.
Beautiful peaceful place. Whether you are religious or not you cannot fail to be impressed by the nearly 1000 year old building. It's so impressive. We went during a heatwave and it was a relief to walk inside as it was lovely and cool.
Nice Cafe on site too!!
M. B.
Lovely experience and stewards very helpful and full of knowledge and ideas where to walk about.coffee shop does a good choice of stuff and good prices history amazing too.Had family member in the 1915 Gallipoli campaign and found a window of a sad mother and father who had lost there son there.my grandad lucky came home or I would not be here..
P. S.
Beautiful cathedral. Well located just next to the city centre hub. The leaf sculptor as a reflective memorial of all those people died due to covid is mesmerising. Such a creative idea and definitely worth a visit .
S. H.
I'm not a lover of religious places as a rule, but I can appreciate great architecture, art and music.
It was the music that drew me in. A choir were singing some hauntingly beautiful tunes, they sounded like ancient scores. It was mesmerising and so peaceful.
I took the time to look around me and whilst it was like a typical Cathedral, it felt welcoming, not so austere or exclusive.
There was a cafe, and a very pretty, small cloistered garden, and at the back of the building is a garden overlooking Worcester and the River Severn.
S. B.
Absolutely stunning building. Storm damage repairs were almost complete when we visited. Take your time to wander, and I recommend doing a tour if you're there at the right time. The volunteers are really knowledgeable.
It's worth going down into the crypt, very atmospheric. Lovely tea shop too.
C. S.
A place of awe and reverence, ancient history, huge dimensions - yet not lacking a friendly face. It's a place where you can eat and it has decent toilet facilities. We went to see an embroidered display depicting the Genesis period. It was big, moving, intricate, challenging and fun. Well worth the effort of the visit.
A. S.
Stunning building, free entry, some leaflets for the kids to fill in and a nice cafe. Tied into a stroll along the river made for a very pleasant morning
G. G.
Wonderful cathedral, free entry but please donate, it's worth it.
V. M.
It was amazing," The Leaves of the trees " were beautiful. It was also free ,so you could relax and light a candle for your loved ones. Just walk around at your own pace in peace as God intended.
p. b.
A truly monumental place to visit, a lasting legacy to our forefathers. Even if you are not of a religious persuasion, one can only marvel at the construction of a building that has seen so much history
A.
Beautiful cathedral in the heart of Worcester. Well worth a visit.
J. C.
A great, historic cathedral with plenty of very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Has a very nice cafe where you can have a tasty meal, ice cream or a cup of tea or fancy coffee. and some great history to enjoy all over the cathedral and in the crypt.
J. B.
Well, it’s absolutely huge & a testament to wealth, architects & the incredible skill of stonemasons. A veritable rabbit warren of walkways, the crypt being my favourite location where tourists were wonderfully sparse.
S. P.
Knowledgeable people there. Amazing experience and breath taking architecture. I would recommend this a must see
D. J.
The cathedral is both beautiful and spiritual. My visit coincided with a choir rehearsal that added to the atmosphere. Lots of interesting things to see including King John's tomb!
S. A.
Nice Cathedral. Well kept and with a group of helpful volunteer to help one appreciate the history of it and enjoy the visit
C. L.
Never been and would glady go again. Structurally amazing building, some real feats and fantastic architecture...really makes the mind wonder.
Staff were quite helpful and left me to it. I found the catacombs at the bottom to be very interesting and the grounds are vast.
Well worth a visit and donatin also as these things although free entry we know won't stay around for long with out help. Good cause as its a building ot real history and marvel.
P. H.
A must visit spot for Worcester. Beautiful architecture and interior design
B. S.
It's an incredible place to visit. Besides the original and well conserved church medieval architecture, it's possible to visit the tomb of the King John (1216), as well as the fossils that were found in part of the limestone blocks of the chatedral. So, definitely it's worth visiting.
S. W.
The cathedral is very pleasant to look at. Although I feel the inside is vastly spoiled by a tsunami of school children decorations.
We got turned away from main entrance of cathedral at 4' o'clock, despite last entry being 4:30. Not very Christian is it, considering we travelled far to specifically see the cathedral in all of it's splendour. Won't bother returning in future.
D. C.
Lovely visit to Worcester Cathedral. Gift shop has so much to offer and the cafe has lovely snacks and cakes. I am disabled and couldn’t access King John’s Tomb perhaps I’ll research before another visit
Also re disability, the main door was not accessible but the sign was a long way to walk before we realised we had to go back. A guide who was taking a visitor round helped me and agreed there should have been a sign earlier
Hopefully this will be resolved before I visit again
A Radar key is needed for the disabled toilet. This disabled toilet is one of the best I have visited.
The cafe has spaced out tables ideal for wheelchairs and mobility aids
R. P.
If you have time, soak up the atmosphere and history, you will find your quick visit to the stunning Worcester Cathedral lasting hours. There is just so much to take in. If the tower is open you will be able to take in the whole City and surroundings with the Malverns as the most English back drop you can imagine.
A must visit when in Worcester.
R. (. N.
Beautiful cathedral to visit highly recommended.
K. C.
A stunning place of worship free admission donation boxes available guides throughout the cathedral were very helpful and knowledgeable a lovely tea rooms offering a good range of snacks delivering some lovely food. Well worth a visit.
D. W.
A very beautiful cathedral which is a worth a visit. We went specifically to visit the cathedral and it did not disappoint. Covid guidelines followed with hand sanitisers dotted around and the staff were very helpful
M. B.
Had a nice walk to the cathedral at the end of the main shopping street. They do ask for a donation I looked it was set to £6 there is a cafe next I'll buy a coffee I'm sure that'll go towards the cathedral donation. Lovely cathedral and very nice lady at the entrance explaining everything. I'll be back ....
D. B.
Nice cathedral. Didn't realize King John was buried here. Beautiful stained glass windows (look out for the link giraffe). The remains and story of the pilgrim, I found particularly interesting. Well worth a visit.

Magnificent cathedral with lots of history and plenty to see
S. M.
Lovely cathedral. Very informative inside. Great for pictures and a picturesque small garden in the middle. You can't go to Worcester without visiting the cathedral.
a. v.
Really nice to see part of local history
D. E.
Beautiful church. Lovely staff. Could have spent a lot longer visiting but was short on time. Allow a couple of hours to really get the most out of your visit.
B. H.
The real centre of the City of Worcester and its principal tourist attraction.
a. b.
A gorgeous building rich in history. The remains of King Arthur (brother of Henry VIII) and King John lie here. King Charles II used the tower to watch the civil war slaughter whilst the halls stabled the Royalist horses.
A. H.
This was a wonderful cathedral with a lovely coffee shop where we had lunch.
Would love to go again!
S. J.
We where very impressed with the Cathedral there was so much history and we went into the crypt and there was a pilgrims remains fascinating The artwork from the local schools was amazing they did an exhibition.
a. p.
Worcester cathedral is beautiful even with the covid restrictions in place and a one way system .you couldn't get as close to some of the beautiful stained glass windows as usual and you could not get close to king John and prince Arthur's tombs which was a bit disappointing but it was still wonderful to visit .
The cafe and cathedral shop were still open . It is still free to enter and walk around but a voluntary donation will help with the upkeep of this gorgeous building. The staff who are dotted around inside the cathedral are very friendly and informative and will help you if possible with almost any question concerning your visit. Make sure to visit the crypt during your visit it is the oldest part of the cathedral.
O. L.
It was fascinating including the gift shop-the music related souvenirs! The Cathedral was just beyond description. overwhelmed.. Don't miss the beautiful canal behind the cathedral.
A. T. S. (. G.
A really interesting place. We saw King John's grave, who happens to be in my husband's family tree. I would recommend visiting this place.
G. P.
Stunning cathedral, packed full of British history and one of the most important in the UK. Beautiful at Christmas and certainly worth visiting and they have a brilliant display of different Christmas trees designed by local organisations and businesses. Make sure to visit the crypt where you can see some of the earliest elements of the cathedral including how the walls and floors would have looked in its early years.
T. M. P.
Full of religious and royal history, being the resting place of many kings of England including King John of England, dating back to the year 680. A beautiful piece of awe-inspiring architecture steeped in history and religion. Walking through this building certainly evokes many emotions, whether religious or wonder, it is worth the visit!
C. H.
Such beauty!
I have been at the cathedral several times, to discover something I haven't seen before.
Amazing!
K. F.
Amazing cathedral. Always popular with visitors. On this visit we saw the cathedral's christmas tree display, lots of trees built and decorated by Worcestershire businesses and community groups. It is nice also to walk out of the back of the cathedral and see the swans on the river, so many of them!
J. p.
Worcester cathedral is beautiful. I was easily lost in its atmosphere. I visited right before Christmas and saw the Christmas trees donated by different local businesses and groups. What impressed me the most aside from the sheer beauty of the building is how wheelchair accessible it was. There was only one area inside that couldn't be visited by me (wheelchair user) and they had a touch screen picture and history display to make up for it. Overall a really great way to get in some history and beauty in a wheelchair friendly way!
R. M.
Beautiful Cathedral and always a nice place to visit, lovely views from the top of the tower, but a bit of a climb up all the steps. Half way up is a resting place for you to get your breath. Riverside location and walks down to the river.
D. B.
A beautiful historic building, hosts many excellent events and is a quiet place to sit, relax and meditate on your memories. We visited 27
12.2018 to see the many Christmas Trees decorated by businesses, Schools and charities within the community.
R. G.
If you're in the area it is definitely worth seeing. Parking is just opposite so easy to access. It's a huge cathedral with lovely decor, large stained windows and a few things to look at including tombs. Entry is free but a donation is recommended for entry. The "staff" we're friendly and offered me a free little booklet on entry which guided you around. There is also a well kept gift shop at the far end for some souvenirs. A beautiful place!
H. I.
We had time to kill while the car was serviced and decided to go to the Cathedral. It is a fascinating building and we had lunch there, sitting in the Cloisters.
p. b.
living piece of history, I sence God still dwells here, it feels warm and alive, unlike most cathedral's, beautiful inside and out.
B. M.
One of my favourite places to go in Worcester. Definitely worth going up the tower to get views of the city and definitely go to the crypt so silent you can feel it through you whole body. Beautiful building
t.
Beautiful cathedral, an absolute must see with King Johns and Prince Arthur tomb inside
A. S. -. P.
Visiting this inspirational cathedral will provide an awe-inspiring experience.
Upon entering you may be fortunate enough to be greeted and welcomed by a kind, knowledgeable, helpful chaplain and/or docent.
The soaring ceilings, spectacular stained glass, admirable, ageless architecture, mausoleum and crypt only hint at the relevance of the institution and are merely a sampling of the fascinating history within.
There are ample instructional exhibits and in particular most insightful, are those describing King John, and perhaps the most influential document arising from the History of England - the Magna Carta.
M. R.
A wonderful example of medieval architecture. You'll need at least a couple of hours to drink in this historic behemoth. Staffed by helpful and knowledgeable volunteers you can immerse yourself either with the colourful history of the Cathedral or simply marvel at the craftsmanship of generations gone by. Enjoy.
P. L.
A beautiful cathedral with many interesting features, including the tomb of King John.
Many areas for quiet prayer and reflection including a crypt.
The cathedral is a short walk from the city shops and just behind the cathedral is the river Severn. There is a ferry there and also a lovely walk with benches placed along the Riverside to rest.
Overall, if you visit Worcester the cathedral is a must see.
N. M. (.
I love Worcester Cathedral. Best place for Worship regardless of religious. I believe only one man upstairs. All the people in the Cathedral very loving and caring nature also will give us warm welcoming.
A. B.
Christmas tree walk around the Cloister is wonderful! Seen it before, but not to be missed when in the area.
The Cathedral itself is beautiful. I particularly enjoyed seeing the Tombs of King John and Prince Arthur and reading abbot Queen Elizabeth 1st visit to see these tombs.
C. C.
Great to see, well organised, superb architecture. Nice restaurant. Well worth a visit.
S. W.
It was a beautiful place to see magnificent .stained glass windows I had never seen the likes before kept up very well
H. R.
One of the cathedrals on our 'must visit' list! Made to feel very welcome the minute we entered. Many memorials around the cathedral, and plenty of guides to give information. Coffee and cake very welcome at the cafe next to the cloisters.
J. L.
Beautiful cathedral, always something of interest. Lunch at the cafe was great.
L. P. l.
Beautiful building. Free entry, pay and display car park 5 minute walk away. Staff are super helpful. Dripping in history. Well worth a visit.
E. S.
Wonderful peaceful cathedral. It has the tombs of King John who did the Magna Carta. Also of Prince Arthur, the older brother of Henry VIII. Climb up the tower is lovely but very steep towards the top. Amazing views too. Lovely cafe there too.
N. H. A.
Worcester Cathedral, is an Anglican cathedral in Worcester, England, situated on a bank overlooking the River Severn. It is the seat of the Bishop of Worcester. Its official name is the Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Mary the Virgin, of Worcester. The present cathedral church was built between 1084 and 1504, and represents every style of English architecture from Norman to Perpendicular Gothic. It is famous for its Norman crypt and unique chapter house, its unusual Transitional Gothic bays, its fine woodwork and its "exquisite" central tower, which is of particularly fine proportions. The Cathedral contains the tomb of King John. The Cathedral Library at Worcester, located since the 19th century in the loft above the South Nave, contains nearly 300 medieval manuscripts, 55 incunabula, and 5500 post-medieval printed books. Of particular note are the Worcester Antiphoner (the only book of its kind to survive the Reformation), the will of King John and a 1225 copy of Magna Carta. The large scriptorium at Worcester produced many manuscripts and was a place of work for many famous scribes, such as the chronicler John of Worcester and the unnamed monk identified by his distinctive handwriting as The Tremulous Hand of Worcester.
A.
Amazing place, rich of history! I recommend highly to get ticket and go to the tower - stunning views!! Be careful as the stairs are becoming very, very tiny in the end ;-)
H.
Sublime. One of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world. The interior is unique.
A. R.
Amazing experience ancient history of this cathedral. Helpful member of staff and smart touch screen info screens . Highly recommended. Near main town centre & river.
A.
The Science Sound and Light Spectacular was excellent!
S. G.
Beautiful bell ringing for Sunday morning worship, must return for evensong to hear more of that fabulous-looking organ. Need to get those old 32 foot pipes going again..
J. K.
Informative guides. Amazing history. Impressive architecture.
J. S.
A Totally Beautiful place. Amazing Building with Architecture that marvels the eyes. Totally worth The visit and a good few hours will be lost.

I don't believe in religions
But I do believe in what people can achieve if they try their best. This is a fine example.
D. S.
A wonderful lesson in history from a fine Cathedral. Visit the Crypt, admire the stunning ceiling art or just catch it at the right times around sunset or just after dark for a truly amazing visuals.
H. P.
What a wonderful place to visit, friendly staff to guide you, lots of different areas to visit, atmospheric, worth an hour of anyone's time.
A. E.
Beautiful. Simply one of a kind. The Jesus chapel is my favorite place inside the cathedral. Also, staff is very nice and friendly. And their services are beautiful.
H. W.
Beautiful ceiling and windows.. Interesting memorials to men who died in the Boer War (outside) and Sikh wars (inside). It is also the final resting place of King John (most of him - believe his heart went to abbey somewhere) and of Prince Arthur ( elder brother of Henry VIII). Very helpful and knowledgeable guide.
M. B.
Great palce to visit, it's free but donations and welcome and really needed to keep the place running. Very peaceful, has a cafe in the cloisters which has charm all of it's own, the place oozes history.
P. R.
There is tons of history here and the inside is very regal. A new treasure hunt means the kids are entertained whilst you research the history. Free to all but a donation hoped for. The acoustics are great so no doubt concerts etc are fantastic. Look for The King John buried here and the pink giraffe.
L. B.
Very pleasant cathedral though disappointed they don't allow dogs as we've never been turned away before from others such as Wells, Bury St Edmunds, Norwich etc. Stained glass windows at East and West Ends are beautiful and the cloisters and the crypt were quiet and interesting. Tombs of King John and Prince Arthur are unique. There's a coffee shop which of course we couldn't visit as we couldn't bring the dog.
G. S.
Amazing cathedral. The leaf sculpture was very moving and well labelled to explain how it had been created and why to reflect hope in these times.
N. W.
Beautiful Cathedral inside with lots to walk around and see
C. T.
Just gorgeous. Beautiful cathedral steeped in history. Free to view but donations welcome. Stained glass windows were just lovely
J. H.
Beautiful cathedral. Well worth a visit. Coffee shop inside and toilets inside .
K. M.
Lovely afternoon in Worcester, visiting the cathedral and walking along the river.
J. M.
Lovely cathedral and the guided tour was very informative.
A. G.
Excellent exhibition of creation depicted in fabric. Found crypt and the cathedral's history interesting. Donation as opposed to entry fee.
J. D.
Beautiful building especially the ceiling..very impressed. Worth a visit!
G. S. C.
Incredible place to visit! Now done the tower twice although I'm terrible with heights. You've got to face the fear to soak in those incredible views of this beautiful city. Tiny bit claustrophobic just before you reach the top but once there you're standing in the footsteps of Royalty. King Charles the 2nd watched the battle of Worcester from the top of the Tower during the English Civil War. Also the burial site of John King of England.
E. B.
The cathedral is peaceful and full of history. With a 6yr old i think the only thing worth doing is the tower climb (235 steps I think...). The views are fantastic and worth the climb even for adults.
P. B.
Beautiful cathedral and completely free. So much to see and a lovely tea room with two of the nicest ladies. 😄☕🥞🎂🍰
N. B.
Typical English catherdral. Well maintained and quite impressive. Tombs of King John and Prince Arthur.
Great views from the tower, especially with recent floods , the worst in a significantly long time
D. J.
Beautiful cathedral with guides available throughout. Good information around the tomb of King John and Prince Arthur extra special treat with a rehearsal of the evening concert
J. A. S. A.
Edward Elgar's birthplace, Worcester is a lovely city with it's own grand cathedral... full of history complete with tea room and shop...
J. S.
The Knife Angel in Cathedral Square, Worcester. There til end of March 2022.
P. C.
Found king John's tomb also found a possible relative of mine on the war memorial
T. B.
Stunning cathedral with a long history, worthy of viewing. The tomb of King John, along with the grave of Prime minister Stanley Baldwin.
v.

A. C.
The stained glass is magnificent. Also a great tea shop.
J. W.
Really well worth a visit so much to see, and when you have enjoyed the cathedral, go and enjoy the delights of the cafe.
J. C.
A beautiful cathedral located close to the river and the shopping area. It is well worth a visit.
A. L.
Just a wonderful building architecturally, fine religious experience and seriously historical. Go and visit, even if religion/Christianity isn't your thing.
W. E.
Historical cathedral with much to see. Free admission but small charge for photography. Gift shop and café. There is a helpful free app available on Google Play and Apple.
S. H.
Very interesting morning, such a lot of history a beautiful cathedral.
Well worth a visit.

Great place to spend a hour or two. Calm and quiet. Free to enter but always give a donation for its upkeep

The Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Mary the Virgin, more simply Worcester Cathedral, displays every style of English architecture from Norman to Perpendicular Gothic.
The first cathedral was founded in 680 but of this nothing remains. The oldest section of the current structure is St Wulfstan's Crypt, built in 1084. This Norman structure features simple groin vaulting and many columns. Another Norman element is the huge circular chapter house.
As the nave was built and rebuilt by different architects, some bays are unusual transitions between Romanesque and Gothic. Near the crossing, buttresses can be seen piercing through the nave's triforium to support the weight of the central tower.
The cathedral's East end is home to a pair of important tombs. King John, of Magna Carta fame, is interred in the centre of the chancel. His sarcophagus and effigy date from 1232.
The second resides in the ornate chantry alongside the high alter, the early 16th century tomb of Prince Arthur Tudor. Arthur was the first son of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York, and died before he could become king. His place was taken by his younger brother Henry VIII. Arthur's tomb helped the cathedral escape the worst of the 16th century's iconoclasm.
Extensive restoration took place in the 19th century, undertaken by Sir George Gilbert Scott and W.A Perkins.

Excellent interpretation of the significant history and do visit the cript.
No entrance fee but voluntary donation.
L. C.
Such an interesting building. Shame it wasn't open when friends wanted to go....how can a whole cathedral be shut on a Sunday because of a wedding?
J. W.
A splendid place full of grace and atmosphere. Just sit in there and chill. So peaceful.
D. R. G.
One of the most beautiful and lovingly preserved cathedrals I have ever seen, and by the lovely River Severn.
S. O.
I love visiting this Cathedral, you can feel the history all around you. If you enjoy history this is a must see, it is the final resting place of King John, he of Magna Carta fame. The Cathedral stands on the River Severn and is a truly ancient and impressive structure. Entrance is free but you can make a donation to the Cathedral if you wish. There are guided tours available or you can wander at your leisure there are services listed for those who wish to participate. There is a gift shop and a cafe, toilets are available and the Cathedral is disabled freindly.
M. F.
I have seen many cathedrals in my life, and their beauty never ceases to amaze me. It was no different with the Worcester Cathedral; its sheer size, the architecture, the stained glass in every window, the view from the tower - everything was breathtaking. The effort you have to put in to climb to the top of the tower is definitely worth it because the view you get is magnificent. I highly recommend it to everyone, it is a must-see for everyone visiting Worcester.
n. a.
Beautiful historic cathedral rare to find in uk such place like this well maintained all service are intact.
M. D.
Serene and beautiful. Walking over the cobbled streets toward this stunning structure adds to its reverence.
R. G.
Nice Cathedral, the choir were practising which was nice to hear. Parts of the cathedral were closed off which were a shame.
S. B.
Great place to visit full of historical architecture ,if you get a bit peckish you can visit the cafe for a good cuppa and something to eat.
G. B.
Did the Tower Tower with Jenny and Caroline and can't recommend it enough. A unique perspective to explore the cathedral and the views from the top of the tower were incredible.
Jenny and Caroline were both excellent tour guides.
Z. M.
A wonderful cathedral swarming in history. Beautiful architecture throughout and the crypt is brilliant. The views from the top of the tower are breathtaking with the surrounding ‘Cathedral Gardens’ having a wonderful view of the Severn and the bridge
C. H.
Magical and Peaceful rolled into one. Definitely give this place a visit when in Worcester .Say a prayer for those you have lost.
L. H.
A very impressive landmark to pop in and see. I was fortunate enough as well to be there when the choir were practicing. Very impressive.
M. K.
A lovely visit. Beautiful stained glass windows, some interesting memorials and a lovely little tea room in the under Croft. However, as cathedrals go there is little to explore, limited outside spaces and I was somewhat underwhelmed.
M. R.
Stunning cathedral in a lovely city, definitely worth a visit
S. L.
You cannot go wrong when visiting this place of beauty. It must be one of England's most stunning examples. Everyone should go at least once.
C. M.
Beautiful cathedral, knowledgeable and helpful staff
P. R.
A wonderful ancient cathedral which has been tastefully maintained and restored. The history of the site is fascinating and the tour guides most informative.
The tomb of King John is worth a look, as is that of Prince Arthur.
S. M.
Just amazing! Love love loved it there. A must see cathedral with really lovely guides. If you go now there is a really beautiful Christmas tree exhibition. We will go back very soon.
M. M.
A large beautiful cathedral and a place of Christian worship and prayer for over fourteen centuries. The present building was begun in 1084 and is dedicated to Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Inside the building also details the history of the connection with King John. Open during Covid times but please wear a mask. Located directly opposite the square with bus stops also next to main shopping area.
J. B.
Beautiful building, especially on the inside. Running communion too.
T. C.
Worcester Cathedral is a stunning building in the heart of Worcester. There are lots of great events running regularly and it's doors are always open. There is so much beautiful architecture and history to enjoy and the stain glass windows are in pristine condition. Most of the cathedral staff are very friendly and willing to chat.
M. R. P.
Saw the installation 'Space' wonderful, awesome ( and so was the cafe, really helpful friendly staff)
S. H.
We experienced the Space light and music exhibition being held within the cathedral which our son and daughter-in-law treated my wife and I to, accompanied by the obligatory grandchildren aged 10 and 11, both of whom were enthralled by the sights and sounds as were we all. A fantastic evening of slowly wandering through the various areas of the cathedral, including the crypt, where further sights, lights and sounds were being displayed on the walls and sound was all around. Really, really enjoyed the evening with plenty of video footage and photos were taken.
M. L.
A quietly magnificent place full of history and people who have travelled through. A place of facinating tales. A place of good and poor connections which have shaped England, The British Isles and beyond. Lots I would not know.
A. D.
Beautiful place, definitely worth a visit if your in the area
J. F.
An impressive gothic cathedral. I had the pleasure of going up the bell tower, to use the bell ringing practice equipment and then have the bells rung for us. Followed by a visit to the Belfry.
E. W.
Really enjoyed my walk around the cathedral such a lot to take in lots to see can't fault the place
R. S.

Stunning piece of architecture that invokes necessary awe especially when inside. Well maintained with good polite volunteers and workers. Catching the evening sunshine transforms the front to a piece of theatre and living art

Stunning Cathedral with helpful staff giving plenty of information and glad to have a discussion and share their knowledge .
A. H.
Worcester Cathedral is a beautiful building, which features a 12th Century Norman crypt and the Stained Glass Windows are exquisite. I was also impressed by their ownership of Amplification! 😆
K. K.
Went to their carols by candlelight concert yesterday evening. Very organised re COVID. Lovely concert. A bright point in an otherwise uneventful Christmas
P. V.
Loved it
O. G.
Climbed to the top of the tower on a beautiful spring day could see for miles! History and beautiful cathedral! History lovers, king John is there, they sometimes have Magna Carta visiting
A. D.
Gorgeous light show. I was with my elderly mum and mu only complaint was the signage. Not in the cathedral. The staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful. Let us go round twice. The signage outside was misleading - from the carpark we were signed into the exit and then had to walk all the way round. My mum had to use her inhaler to get back.
M. W.
Well worth a visit. "Leaves" art installation thought provoking. Great sense of history and spectacular architecture.
J. N.
There is a lot of history here. Many placards telling you about what you're looking at. Access is a bit difficult if you don't know where to find the doors. This is because the church is surrounded on two sides by other buildings.
R. D.
Lovely place to walk around with some wonderful architecture and very covid safe in the current climate, well worth a visit 👍
L. T.
Very pretty.
It feels comfortable being in there.
Definitely worth a visit!
C. H.
Amazing cathedral, really enjoyed my visit & would recommend it if you're thinking of visiting Worcester. What made it all the more special is my friend who passed away, loved her trips there with her sister
M.
Enjoyed the tour of Worcester Cathedral. Very informative. Honouring sacrifices people made in past wars to protect our Liberty is inspiring. Never forget! Cafe inside the cathedral to finish off the day, and reward guide for their efforts is lovely

A beautiful ancient building with many exceptional stained glass windows. A Café is available. It has a lovely quadrangle. Don't forget to visit the crypt. A real touch with history seeing King John's tomb. Altogether a very worthwhile visit.
S. B.
A beautiful cathedral. We were so lucky to witness a choir rehearsing there whilst visiting. Although that meant some of the cathedral was blocked off it was wonderful to hear and made the experience even better.
H. D.
Stunning Cathedral - so much history
p. b.
A beautiful medieval cathedral with some named people buried there. Not the biggest cathedral I've had the privilege of walking around, however, some unique intricate carvings inside
J. D.
Lovely place to visit.

Nice cathedral. seen better ones though
B. C.
Amazing view from the roof, just amazing! worths that £5 !
C. S. P.
Beautiful Cathedral with plenty of written history to read on the way around. Well worth a visit, I am I no way religious but I always stand in awe at how such structures were built back then with such limited tools and education.
Go see for yourself.
It is covid secure in there, hand gell everywhere and plenty of space to keep a safe distance from others.
M. C.
Lovely Cathedral. Very helpful volunteers with good knowledge.
R. H.
It's a beautiful building, steeped in history, and beautifully decorated. One of the few cathedrals you don't have to pay an entry fee for. Lovely crypt recently restored, cloisters with cafe and gift shop.
J. D.
Not religious but appreciate the work gone into the cathedral. Stain-glass windows are wonderful. Places like this will never be built again. Plenty to see, well worth a visit.
S. W.
Only seen it from the outside but as breathtaking as you can only imagine
J. P.
Well worth the visit, among other items of interest, to see King Arthur's tomb who died at 16 after one year married to Catherine of Aragon, she then became Henry the eight's wife. To see were Elizabeth 1st came to see her uncle's tomb....
M. S.

R. J.
Fantastic visit, with an expert guide. A magnificent building.
L. K.
Amazing visit for daughters graduation. Very impressive building.
J. E.
Forget stuffy cathedrals, this is history and architecture combined to give a splendid aura, giving a real sense of the countless generations that have worshipped here, and the enormity of the process of building this giant edifice.
A. F. C.
Just a fabulous space to visit... beautiful isn't strong enough of a word to describe it
A. 5.
Lots to look at here. Interesting. Beautiful and calming
K. G.
Omg it's absolutely gorgeous inside and out makes a stunning photo
A. R.
I've been here twice before, during my younger days, but going as a mature adult, I saw it in a complete new light. Worcester Cathedral has plenty to offer, stained glass windows, caskets, and cloisters, but the Norman Crypt was certainly my favourite. Energy resonates, through the walls, through the ceiling, through the pillars, and through the prayers, of the old monks, whose spirits continue to roam the crypt. This area certainly still belongs to them, so please be as mindful and respectful as you possibly can, if/when entering their 'home'.
I. L.
Impressive, with early crypt, and lovely chapter house
F. C.
Outstanding church, highly recommended for everyone who loves English history.
A. W.
Went on a guide tour well worth it very informative well worth a visit.

R. B.
Beautiful building lots to see, worth a visit
J. D.
Many interesting things to see including some magnificent stained glass and several most impressive bells. We then sat in its quiet cloistered yard and rounded things off in its little cafe with a lemonade and orange poppy seed cake.
J. R.
Visited the Christmas Tree exhibition in the cloisters which was very enjoyable .
Decorations in the Cathedral itself were lovely as was the short service we attended.
L. H.
Very interesting cathedral. Unfortunately the choir was closed due to damage caused by falling masonry. Spoke to one òf the guides, very friendly and knowledgeable
G.
Took a tour with guide Richard. It was very interesting and whetted the appetite for a return visit. Surprisingly pretty cathedral given that it was built by the Normans. Much history attached to it.
T. W.
Very nice grade 1 listed cathedral got loads of photos in there.
N. m.
Beautiful and Staff were very helpful.
J. F.
One of the great cathedrals of England, but certainly not one of the biggest. My first time here - been meaning to visit for years. It's had a chequered history and was apparently in a very poor state when the Victorians did an extensive 20 year renovation. They did a sympathetic job in my opinion and left some evidence of the pre- renovation state for comparison. The impressive vaulted roof also shows changes through the ages.
Various tombs, including that of King John.
I found it a much less commercialised place compared to some other cathedrals and a quite refreshing visit. A small café and a small shop, but otherwise unfussy. The volunteers on duty when I went were very helpful. Well worth a visit.
P. B.
Really attractive, interesting cathedral. Free entry, no prebooking. Friendly volunteers helping you with information and the history. In origin it's possibly the oldest cathedral, not be his building but it's predecessor.
P. W.
Amazing visit to the Cathedral. Crickey, so much history I have never learnt. Terrific building whether you are church attender or not.
E. B.
Wonderful cathedral, well worth going up the tower on a good day to see the view and the bells!

G. T.
Beautiful Gothic architecture - cathedral, cloisters, undercroft.
T. T.
Spent a lovely couple of hours here, staff and clergy helpful and informative, pointing out things we would otherwise have missed. Calm and relaxed atmosphere, coffee and cake in the tea shop went down a treat.
D. N.
Church... I visited Gloucester Cathedral, not too far from here... I would like to visit Worcester Cathedral, at some point, in the not-too-distant future, maybe for Orthodox Christmas... This isn't strictly-speaking a review, but with the limited access to points for freedom-of-speech, I am expressing my intention to meditate here peacefully... CDN
K. J.
Well worth a visit and stop for a cuppa and a piece of cake. Steeped in history and very welcoming

B. K.
Royal Tombs, the first round Chapter House, Architecture through the ages, beautiful Norman Crypt. One of England's loveliest cathedral's. It stands majestically overlooking the River Severn, close to the city centre. It has been a place of prayer and worship for fourteen centuries. We hope that you will enjoy your visit.

P. F.
Beautiful building full of history and stunning architecture at every turn. Lovely coffee shop too.
D. F. (.
Beautiful building and moving experience
A. J.
The Cathedral has welcoming staff/volunteers. There are amazing stained glass windows, ornate stone masonry and wood carvings. Money is being invested in maintaining the cathedral to a high standard. It is free to enter but you can donate to support conservation or if you are taking photos.
J. B.
Fabulous cathedral. The outside wasn't particularly spectacular whereas the in side really was.
A. C.
Absolutely beautiful private funeral for my cousin during this difficult Pandemic time we are living through. So very special. What an amazing Cathedral. I will revisit when it is safe to really explore all its history.
M. B.
So moved by all the leaves I bought one from the gift shop. £25 each.
P. S.
Beautiful 14th century cathedral with stain glass windows, cafe is open wheelchair friendly, entry is free, donations accepted, good place for history.
E. R.
One of the best cathedrals in the UK 👍
R. L.
Visited for a light show,🤩 great
M. L.
Impressive place, lots to look round, cafe and shop as well. Great views across Worcestershire from the top, lots of stairs and gets very narrow but worth the effort l think. Also have to pay a donation to go up but as it costs nothing to get in I think that's fine. Also nice Riverside walks and city centre close by.
M. B.
A beautiful Cathedral close to the city centre, on the left bank of the River Severn. 🌅
Its official name is the Cathedral Church of Christ and the Blessed Mary the Virgin. The present cathedral church was built between 1084 and 1504, and represents every style of English architecture from Norman to Perpendicular Gothic. ⛪ It is famous for its Norman crypt, its chapter house, its fine woodwork and its exquisite central tower, which is of particularly fine proportions. The Cathedral contains the tomb of King John. 👑
There is also a very good choir, I have been here several times for the choral evensong and sometime for a concert. 🎼
T. S.
One of England's greatest Cathedrals. It has two royal burials, a wealth of history and some of the finest architecture in the country. The guides are polite and knowledgable and able to discuss a wide range of issues without having to go back to script.
P. W.
Lovely building, good interactive touch screens to provide info about some aspects. Would be nice to have info in more places or perhaps guided tours although I appreciate covid might be limiting that. Could launch an audio tour as a podcast that people can get through their phones as an alternative?
M. S.
A lovely cathedral to walk around peacefully. It has a lot of history dotted around and you can walk up into the tower at the top, while going down as well visiting the crypt. The cathedral looks magnificent from a sunny day, especially the herb garden. The gift shop has many memoirs from Elgar souvenirs to many pieces of jewellery. It doesn’t get busy and you can enjoy walking around at your own pace.
J. L.
We went to a service with carols on Christmas Eve. It was magical. We have visited the cathedral many times before but this was special. The lighting, floral decoration and Christmas tree set the scene and the singing was superb. We arrived half an hour before the service started and were lucky to find two seats towards the back of the cathedral. People coming in just after us were so lucky. They were directed to seats in the side aisles where visibility is restricted.
I. H.
Very nice history and three choirs festival partner
M. B.
Beautiful building with so much history. Beautiful setting on the bank of the river.
J. P.
So impressive! Had the joy of watching a lucky bride walk to the altar, such a fabulous atmosphere in this historic and beautiful Cathedral.
J. C.
Fantastic cathedral. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Coffee shop had a lovely staff too. I will be visiting again soon!
L. M.
Free to visit, was nice viewing the catacombs
P. J.
Worcester cathedral is a fantastic place to worship. If you are visiting Worcester, be sure to go up the tower. 7
S. W.
Beautiful cathedral
W. D.
Just visited the Cloister Cafe today. Lovely sandwiches. Coffee OK. Chose a table out in the cloister rather than in the cafe itself. Friendly service and reasonably priced.
E. W.
A different viewing angle.
J. B.
Stunning architecture, great history. There is an ambience around such buildings, and this is no exception. A kind volunteer on the door to welcome you in (they like a donation, but entry is free, and there is no hard sell). Guided tours are available, or you are free to wander round at your own pace. Cafe and toilet facilities on site. Worth a visit if you are going to Worcester, for sure.
J. C.
As well as being a place of worship, the cathedral is steeped in history. Especially from the medieval period. Includes the tomb of Prince Arthur the eldest son of Henry Vll. Also King John, who apparently has been moved around the cathedral to his final spot. Friendly and informative volunteers are at hand to answer questions. Don't forget to look in the crypt. Good access for disabled with two lifts to access the Lady Chapel etc. Cafe onsite and open, good Covid procedures in place. Open 11am till 3pm except Sunday when open from 1pm.
If you are in Worcester visit one of England's top cathedral.
C. W.
Stunningly beautiful and interesting, well worth a visit
J. M.
Wonderful cathedral will beautiful cloisters. Bonus on my visit the bells were in full peal
M. L.

A. R.
Long time since I'd been to Worcester.
Great little English City.
Worth a stop off when your heading down south.
A. K.
This cathedral has the tomb of Arther Tudor, the brother of Henry 8th. That is big, big history. It is also the place where Charles the 2nd viewed the battle of worcester over looking fort royal, that is big, big history. Considering the stuarts and tudors place in English history, it is a must to visit.
I might also mention it is right next to the river, and one of sir Edwards elgars homes. If the history is to much for you, you can visit cathedral plaza and have a bite to eat.
J. B.
Wonderful, welcoming, atmospheric place, and free to get in. Also benefitted from an organ recital, fantastic !!
P. B.
This place is not just for church goers. Inside is loaded with incredible history and on the right days the view for those brave and fit enough from the top of the tower is incredible. The gardens surrounding this cathedral are well maintained and peaceful with easy access to the river Severn for tranquil walks. Few steps so not all accessible to mobility users but they try to help as much as possible you only have to ask someone. Wonderful place to visit and send photos back to friends. Enjoy
A. D.
Well worth a visit. Entry is free. See King John's tomb.
L. R.
Visited the Christmas trees as I have wanted to for a while. Beautiful displays especially the nativity from the Guide dogs charity.
G. B.
Lovely cathedral with lots of history. The visiting experience has been massively improved with the addition of interactive information boards. Entrance is free of charge, but donations are welcome, which go towards the upkeep of the building.
M. E.
5 Different styles of architecture from Norman to late 14th Century Cathedral was first built in 608.
F. P.
Stunning! One of a kind!
R. B.
Such a beautiful building steeped in British heritage and religion. We were lucky to walk around whilst rehearsals took place for a Mandel concert. Very moving. Information about the venue us well marked, including interactive information points about some of the artefacts. Well worth a visit.
G. “. H.
Wonderful building with great detail to take in, there is a cafe on site and a gift shop. This is where you can find the tomb of King John. Lots of helpful people around to help and inform.
J. D.
Very nice cathedral, don't miss the view from the river
M. B.
Part of cathedral closed due to collapsed roof from storms . Guides very helpful and knowledgeable. We'll worth a visit
M. H.
A great Cathedral to walk around - or even be guided. Extremely nice volunteers to welcome you and give a few pointers. Very much worth paying the £3 or £5 to take pictures. There is a cafe on site as well as toilets.
M. C. S.
Beautiful! With a geat little bookshop, too.
m. s.
A beautiful, peaceful place.
H.
Wonderful place to visit, amazing preservation of history, a true gem with a number of reasons to visit. Very welcoming and helpful volunteers, be sure to take the trip up the tower if you can manage, amazing views of the city. Cafe was very good too and decently priced.
B. L.
We went to Worcester and visited the Cathedral, magnificent, beautiful building enjoyed the history behind it.
J. S.
Such a beautiful place of peace and calmness
B. W.
Fantastic opportunity to walk around the cathedral. A must if visiting the area. Masks where asked to be warn which is to be expected under current circumstances.
T. A.
Very interesting, spectacular building with amazing history, older than most. Very good tour by Janet, found out a lot more than when walking round on our own. Visitors need to find shop first and ask what is on and buy £3 photo permit. Not obvious when entering.
M. C.
An awesome cathedral that was briefly visited. Partly due to. Covid restrictions, as well as finding a suitable parking place. Was most surprised there's that there weren't any disabled spaces near the venue.
E. R.
Beautiful building with amazing history. Worth visiting. The crew thought of everything - attractions for children with 5 different tables and activities.
D. G.
A very magnificent cathedral. So imposing inside and out. A vast interior and lovely stained glass windows. Lots of scaffolding on outside in different places as work in progress. Lovely situation by the river. Crypt was interesting to visit but didnt hv the energy to go up the tower
J. P.
Highly recommend Worcester cathedral is a beautiful place.
You will find the tombs of both
Prince Arthur and king John
There is currently a lovely free art exhibition
By local schools. Very spiritual atmosphere
Full programme of events. Knowledgeable guides. Lovely cafe too.
P. W.
Currently doing covid tests with very quick response. Very well organised and safe. Not too many people when I went there. I got my results before I made it back to my car. Very pleased they are testing people without symptoms as it meant I could attend a funeral without worry.
M. W.
5 of us went on a guided tour yesterday and it was excellent. Nigel the tour guide was first class and answered all our questions. We are all locals and he pointed out so many things we’d all missed on previous visits!
Two of us then made the climb up the tower which was worth it for the wonderful views. Not for the faint hearted!
Thoroughly recommend the guided tour, especially if you get Nigel.
R. C.
The cathedral was a stunningly captivating, with a bonus at Christmas of a beautiful display of locally decorated trees on three sides of the cloisters. The cathedral is full of history and fabulous carvings and a lovely cafe and shop. We were visiting from Warner hotel at Holme Lacy & lost a hat. The cathedral staff were great, locating the missing item and replying to my email so the lost hat could be reunited.
S. H.
The location for King John and need to allow several hours to do it justice
H. B.
The walk up the tower is not for the claustrophobic or easily nauseous.... or heavier set. It has amazing views of the city that can’t be found elsewhere. We were there the Monday after Easter and was treated to the bells ringing nonstop for hours.

Amazing. Beautiful architecture there were several interesting places e.g catacombs, art displays from the nearby school, and historical displays. You can also travel up the clock tower to the roof and look out over the town and there's an interesting clock structure (halfway up to the roof) from the 1800s

Visited Worcester Cathedral to see the tomb of my 24x Great Grandfather, King John. As a direct descendant of his it was a humbling experience to visit with my two young children. The guides were very informative and the cathedral is magnificent. Worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing, it's a wonderful impressive Cathedral and the Christmas Trees were fantastic 😊

A pretty solid cathedral, definitely nice to wander about if your visiting the area. Like all cathedrals it’s architecturally breathtaking to look at and relatively interesting historically too.

Amazing cathedral, and very lovely café attached. All the staff and welcomers were eager to tell stories and explain the cathedral architecture. They even had a little, fun game for kids!
Toilets were really dirty though.

Beautiful place to visit, highly recommend a trip to the top for spectacular views!

Stunning cathedral. Never been round it before. Easter theme was out as visited on good Friday. Volunteers really helpful and all information interesting and fascinating. Must go up tower next time

A very interesting building. We were greeted by a very pleasant guide as we entered the Cathedral. There are helpful explanatory details as you walk around the building. The café in the cloisters provided a very good, reasonably priced lunch.

Do take a guided tour, ours was excellent and gave us insights about aspects of the cathedral which we would have otherwise missed completely.

The cathedral is such a beautiful place with so much story in it and not just the stories that people tell you but also from just looking at all the wear and tear that time has given to the place. Every chip and dent in this place makes you wonder about their origin. I love this place!

A magical place and seemed very large compared to the loom on the outside!. We saw king John's tomb and the tomb of Arthur Tudor was a pleasant surprise. The general facilities were good with the toilets immaculate.

Amazing inside and a church that actually encourages you to look, without having to pay too. The sign outside states you can visit for free. They have a king John buried there, Prince Arthur brother of Henry the Viii and queen Elizabeth the 1st chaplain to name a few. The interior stain glass windows are fantastic. I am not normally the kind of person to go on about a Cathedral, but this one is a gem.

Amazing place, and amazing garden, and friendly staff!!!!!!!!

From the moment I entered this beautiful cathedral there was a sense of peace. My friend and I were greeted by a lovely lady who gave us a leaflet and gave a very brief description of areas of interest.
The skill of the people who made wrought iron gates to the magnificent carving on the stonework is totally amazing. It is impossible not to be enthralled by this astounding cathedral.

Wheelchair accessible, lively atmosphere, beautiful chapter house, the Holly-hocks in the cloister garden were the best I've ever seen. Oh, and the architecture. We just wandered over from the excellent Museum of Royal Worcester across the road (5 mins walk).

A beautiful cathedral to visit. Very knowledgeable volunteers on hand and a good teal room adjacent the cloisters.

Staff/volunteers were lovely so kind and helpful. The Christmas Trees are absolutely beautiful I would recommend a visit.

The cathedral is lovely without a doubt. We had the opportunity to climb the tower for free, as I am told there is normally a charge. I would like to point out that it is a very steep climb and becomes extremely narrow the higher you climb, so much so that I felt very claustrophobic (which I don't normally suffer from) and had to abandon the climb.
Had I been told this and the number of steps involved beforehand by the member of staff at the door to the tower I would not have chosen to go up. I think people should be more informed.

Absolutely beautiful with so much history inside it and a cute little shop too, the stained glass windows are mesmerizingly beautiful and the colours. I'm not religious but they don't stop until every surface is immaculately beautiful and I always appreciate the effort that goes into making these monumental places of worship

Thoroughly special construction with magnificent architecture.
Only recently did I graduate from the University only to find out the ceremonies were held there. I arrived a little tentative but the ceremony was marvelous and a real credit to the staff.
The organs' acoustics in the cathedral are great and the building is spacious enough easily to accommodate huge numbers of guests for any special occasion. The foliage outside makes a nice break from the high street and with the cathedrals position close to the river it can be admired from miles around.
Overall I cannot think of a better place to graduate and feel proud to say that the cathedral hosts ceremonies in such a prestigious way.

Well worth a visit. The Hope Leaf Exhibition is a very thought provoking display.

Nearly 1400 years of history involved within Cathedral. King John's tomb before high alter. Food and coffee available in cloisters.
Beautiful river walks behind building.
Worcester is an ancient, attractive, friendly town filled with many old, small and unique shops.

Amazing place to visit, so many interesting things to see.
Just remember that its a place of worship and be respectful

Tranquil, beautiful and open cathedral. There was a wonderful choir conducting lesson going on today and the music made the place even more unreal and outstanding. Thank you again, Worcester Cathedral. You never leave this place without uplifting inspiration!

Wow. Fantastic cathedral. There was an organ recital on whilst we walked around which was great. I always love a good crypt to descend in to. Cafe had great food and drink with lovely staff.

The most amazing tapestries being displayed this week. Awesome

It was wonderful to hear the choir at Eucharist. We had a look round after and saw the impressive architecture, stained glass windows and burial place of King John. The peaceful atmosphere of this beautiful historic place of Chrristian worship make this an inspiring place to visit.

In a lovely setting by the river. Plenty to see and explore. We were lucky enough to hear the choir practising which filled the space with uplifting sound. Nice little cafe in the Cloisters. Parking nearby.

Beautiful and historic. Best view is from cricket ground on the other side of the river, but good to see King John's final resting place!

Wonderfully peaceful. To worship where other Christians have worshipped for over a thousand years is awesome. Beautiful building with so much to see. Good cafe in the cloister.

Wonderful historic Cathedral, essential visit while in Worcester. Lovely cafe in Cloisters area and toilets available too. Could spend several hours exploring the Cathedral and grounds, discovering the history and of the locality.

I gave 5 stars because of the Easter celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ that I attended while visiting. This is foremost a place of worship. But in addition, is a beautiful, historic building that is worth seeing whatever your faith or world view.
J. W.
I visited Worcester Cathedral this afternoon to attend the Lights of Love service organised by St Richards Hospice. It was very moving and uplifting experience. The cathedral is a beautiful building. There is always a feeling of quiet and reflective peacefulness at this particular service.

An amazing Cathedral which is spectacular to wander round. You can see something different every time. Love the detail on the sculptures and tombs. I especially love the Christmas Tree Festival which is currently going on.

Very nice cathedral, excellent cafe in wonderful surroundings (cloisters), very friendly staff, good entry policy (donations) and good car parking nearby.

Fantastic, just love this place all the history and the lovely views from the tower and grounds. Live the stain glass windows and mosaic tiles and statues. The coffee shop and gift shop is perfect too
n. c.
Free to walk around and we'll worth a visit. Only marked down because they wanted £5 each to go up the tower. Not worth it, £5 for a family maybe. If you want a similar view go to fort royal park plus it's free.
J. P.
Beautiful building & interiors, good information about history & very helpful & knowledgeable volunteers. Great seeing the place used for Shakespeare plays, concerts & exhibitions. Good guides tours & occasional opportunities to visit the clock tower.
