Came today to see the Prince of Wales Warship and was not disappointed, what a spectacular sight , from port to stern , plenty of people around taking pics and helping to take photos for the people who couldn't get good enough pics including me ,weather was spectacular too ,very cold with blue skies but didnt deter the crowds from coming out in their droves.

Promised my dad we would take a trip down to see HMS Prince Of Wales. It was so windy & cold down there but well worth it just to see dads face and hear him telling stories of delivering beer to the ships in dock in the late 50's/early 60's & his 2nd hand man going on board to sort out the bill and getting lost and being invited onboard for a hearty meal. Imagine, security today would not allow this.
I think he enjoyed his afternoon and all the memories it brought back.

Great place to view the ships, and take in the sunsets too

This is a nice area to watch the boats and big ships come in. It was once also the Liverpool railway station called "Riverside Station" started 12th June 1895. It was originally opened as a train service for liner passengers from America to connect directly non-stop with London.
It was unusual as the trains in and out of this station would run not on normal rail lines but on rails like old tram lines along the dock roads. You can still see the last section of the original train lines at the top of Princes Parade opposite the tall building Alexandra Tower (change your Google map type to Satellite view). Also the trains had to be small locomotives that were light enough to cross the dock bridge, which had weight restrictions, and they would go to Edge Hill station, with the train carriages that would then be connected with the larger special intercity trains that ran a few times a week called the "American Special"
Written in 1898
And now for a word or two about the actual running of the train . It must be borne in mind that the run (from London) is practically at an end at Edge Hill, and that the quarter of an hour from that station to the Riverside must not be taken into account in reckoning the speed especially as a man walks in front of the train with a red flag part of the way.

First time visiting here. Came to see the Carribean Princess as my little one is Disney mad. Had a big screen up playing Disney films everyone was sat having a picnic in the sun was a lovely day. Lots to do and loads of catering vans. Unfortunately not many toilets, for some reason they had closed the portaloos in pier head village so over near the shop had around 80 ppl waiting in a queue.
