Lovely green space to walk the dog or take a stroll. Has a few little trails, a cafe, childrens play park and pond with a casade. Entrance to the gardens is free. I specifically went for the camillia festival and perhaps my expectations were too high but left rather underwhelmed. While the paper guide to the trail was very helpful and the camillias I did see were nice, there was only 1 bush/area of each variety. With some varieties only having a couple of open flowers. There was a camillia competition in the centre of the conservatory in which people had brought in a head of their home grown camillias which I thought is a good way to involve the community. The wings of the conservatory were barricaded off so we were unable to go further than the main circle which in all fairness was mentioned on the website. In all nice to have a look around Chiswick gardens but won't be rushing back to the festival.

The dog friendly grounds are real pleasure to explore, (especially with energetic grandchildren), with many intersecting paths accessing water features, formal gardens, shady glades, meadow flowers grasses and architectural follies.
There is a good "no dogs allowed" childrens play and activity area. Great coffee at the stylish cafe. (Fresh produce from the kitchen garden was on sale at the shop when we were there.)
O. S.
We visited on a very rainy day when the main house was not open to the public so we were unable to view.
The grounds although small when compared to other Grand House's were well maintained. There is a very large Greenhouse, a fairly large Topiary area and the grounds have a number of features such as an Ionic Temple and a lovely small Bridge.
Certainly a great place to visit and stroll about the grounds.
T. L.
Beautiful gardens to explore. It is also historical too. There is a cafe with outside seating and toilets too. Lots of paths to walk down.
M. U.
Amazing place. I have to see this park. I visited in winter but I would like to see this park in all seasons. Absolutely great park.Everywhere is like a painting.😍
S. G.
Enjoyed visiting the House and the Gardens earlier today. A lot of history and learnt quite a it too. Gardens were great to visit too, especially the Kitchen Garden.
C. C.
It's so beautiful around this area. A wonderful place for both children and adults. I could spend all day looking at the scenery.
J.
Surprisingly small but historically important. Worth a visit even just to enjoy the gardens.
D. P.
Charming historical gardens. It’s good place for an evening stroll or coffee with family. Not huge enough for a run unless you keep going in circles you won’t be able to get much exercise. It’s popular among dog walkers so if you don’t mind getting interrupted by random unleashed pet dogs 🐕 you will like it.
R. M.
Chiswick House itself is small and interesting, but has no wheelchair access.
But the beautiful gardens are extensive, and full of leafy paths and unexpected cute summerhouses and obelisks. It was was worth the walk in the heavy June rains.
C. A.
This is a wonderful place and hidden gem. Fantastic gardens, wildlife sanctuary, museum, café. Great day out.
H. R.
The only place Squirrel approach me asking for my sandwich, the place is vibrant and lovely, dogs friendly, a lot of duckling is the pond, lovely walking and relaxing place .
T. A.
Attended for my friends wedding ceremony. Beautiful grounds. Loved the waterfall. The building was lovely with very regal decor. We spent time in various parts of the grounds throughout the day and into the evening. A really beautiful venue for events!
M. B.
Beautiful place, nice for a
Picnic. Not easily reached by public transportation
J. T.
One of the best public parks in London. Plenty of space to have a picnic and good routes for the daily walks. There is a cafe and public toilet also. Paid parking on site but there are also ones round the many entrances to the park.
L. S.
Nice day out- gardens and pond is lovely to go on a walk (even with a dog). The house is small but nice and I would say it’s good to go just once. There is a cafe onsite so good for coffee and cake after your walk.
S.
Very beautiful house and grounds with a lot of scenic diversity (lake, rose garden, maze) in a small space - and a large park cafe.
J. J.
Always a joy to visit this beautiful park. The house can be visited and is part of the National Heritage. The rest of the park is free entry and very pleasant. There is a cricket pitch, a cafe, a small playground, toilets and lots of spots where to have a picnic.
T. H.
Incredible place, beautiful in the house and also lovely grounds and gardens. We'll worth a visit and I would highly recommend the guided tour. Very interesting and funny.
P. D.
I really enjoyed After Dark! It is such a fun way to spend an evening, walking a bit in a beautiful setting while enjoying the lights. Would definitely recommend going. It's like an enchanted forest type of night! LOVED the moon it was so awesome. And the food was also nice.
J. H.
I took my daughter to the lantern festival within the grounds and it was amazing. It Was raining heavily which was one of the down sides to it being an outside display but it was so worth it. Lovely area at the end of the display to eat and get something hot to drink
E. W.
The lights at this year's Magical Lantern Festival (held at Chiswick Gardens) are.... well, truly magical. Walking along the trail is absolutely mesmerizing and also very calming. The bright colours and the beautiful reflection of some of the displays in the lakes definitely cheered my friend and me up (after a tough day at work and a tricky journey from the tube).
My only two suggestions would be an improvement required for directions on the website/sign posting and there were a few light displays that were partly obstructed by trees or statues.
Overall a lovely evening for couples, families or friends :)
E. S.
Nice park with good looking building cafe is nice has some good events always on their check their website out for them Chinese new year one of the best in the UK by far their
S. L.
Excellently appointed garden.
We had a beautiful wedding in the conservatory. The staff team was most helpful.
Romantic English garden where Beatles recorded their Paperback Writer video there.
M. M.
A beautiful estate with country house and extensive gardens located in Chiswick in the West of London.
They have hosted the Chinese Lantern festival photographed here but other times of the year, you can explore the beautiful gardens and stream and imposing country house quintessentially English.
D.
I visited when special Garden was open. I was lucky that day. Big pumkins, kiwis, apples, tomatoes, herbs etc. I could see many plants and saw new things. It was an interesting experience.
C. c.
Love this place such a great walk lovely cafe really dog friendly and a nice playground so something for everyone and if you are making a day of the house and gardens it self is well worth a visit
P. S.
Pleasant place to visit with glasshouses and gardens, further down past the house is a river, at the back of the house there are lots of statues. The only downside is the cafe where if you sit in the metal seats they are difficult to get out of.
l. k.
One of those places which feel outside of London..Quiet,lots of trees and birds. Also very artistic statues.Definetly worth a visit.Good for families. And the gardens are free:)
E.
A hidden oasis just 10mins from Chiswick high road. The house wasn't open but walking around the grounds is a great way to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon.
H. P.
Spent Saturday in October here for a guided tour. Met by Margaret who is quite a character and although not being in the best of health (cold) she gave us a brilliant tour of the house with stories and facts interwoven that grabbed your attention and gave you pause for thought. The house is quite small, however Margaret didn’t let the size of the house diminish the large history of the place. I would like to thank Margaret for a wonderful tour and knowing she does this voluntarily makes me even more enamoured with her service. Definitely worth a visit here and there’s some beautiful grounds to while away the time. There’s a cafe to grab some food and refreshments, but the highlight for me was the tour by Margaret. I hope you’re fortunate enough to have her on your tour here.
A. A.
Wonderful open space in middle of London. Superbly kept grounds and wildlife in abundance. Dog free family area is great
J. T.
Beautiful building and gardens
M. A.
Wonderful park and grounds. Worth a visit even if you aren't from around here. Very historical, lots to explore.
R. Q.
Beautiful gardens. Lots and lots of dogs off leashes.
B. W.
I really enjoyed my visit to Chiswick Gardens on Fri 21st February to see Lightopia with some friends. I would definitely recommend this event to anyone.
R. B. -. E. k.
Wonderful place to visit for walking and the camellias in the Conservatory are exceptional and some are very rare.
The Inigo Jones gateway is fab and not seen inside the house yet.
Apparently the CHGT or Trust have taken back control of the grounds and house from English Heritage and are going to spend more money on everything which is great news.s
A. H.
Large park with many paths and gardens. Historic house and monuments with pretty lake
J. V.
We go every year to Lightipia and love it! Its a definite must if you have young or old kids in your family!
R. V.
Lovely area in Chiswick, great to spend some time with family and friends. Good facilities, including a nice café.
F. G.
Incredible Palladian Villa built in 1729 in one of the greenest, most beautiful areas in West London
D. C.
Great event at Tom Kerridge Pub in the Park, Chiswick, we're introducing the locals to our Nil By Mouth, hottest chilli sauce you'll find from us to date. A truly wonderful location for the food festival to be held.
Daddy Cools Chilli Sauce

J. K.
Love it here, funky circus going on lately.
M. N.
A beautiful venue for an afternoon wander and the food in the canteen was great tasting and good value
A. L.
One of the most beautiful historical houses and amazing garden in London. If you are around Chiswick, give it a try and see especially in the summer time. Closest tube station is a bit far though. Still worth!
E. L.
A very Peaceful park to be in.
G. P.
A lovely, well kept garden. So tranquil for a quiet seat or slow stroll. Definitely helps the relaxation.
A. P.
Beautiful place with wonderful walks and grounds free entry and super cafe
P. M.
Lovely park with lots of garden space to enjoy with friends and family.
S. M.
Serenely splendid and not too crowded
A. H.
9the gardens are lovely and well used by locals and visitors to the house well worth a visit to both
C. J.
Such a beautiful place in the heart of London. Just the right place to relax and meet friends for a chat.
A. S.
Would highly recommend Chiswick House & Gardens. Attractive flora and wildlife. You can park for free on the side roads at the weekend and it’s big enough that it never feels busy. Cafe does takeaway brioche bacon baps as well. You can visit again and again and still have more to explore.
E.
Had a great visit and enjoyed having a wander around the gardens
M. K.
Amazing views and lovely cafe with a playground
A. W.
Magnificent Palladian Villa in beautiful grounds with small lake and cascade, orangery full of camellias in flower in spring, lots of walks, autumn colour, expensive cafe with lots of outside seating. A great place to visit.
M. C.
A very pleasant place to spend some time with a nice cafe.
k. f.
Beautifully designed garden, massive amounts of wild life, ponds, mini waterfalls. Feels a bit like Versailles 🤭 but in British edition. Loads of space to walk, picnic and enjoy outdoor.
D. B.
So beautiful, many different areas, formal gardens, wild areas, nice benches with lovely views. A beautiful afternoon spent! 🌿
P. C.
First time inside the paladian house. The interior is beautifully restored.
M. B.
Lovely garden and house. Worth a visit
D. C.
Amazing gardens and house is beautiful
M. C.
Beautiful grounds, with spectacular ornate gardens and authentic Victorian glasshouse. Cafe is a little on the expensive side, but well worth it just for the pleasure of relaxing on a lovely summer's with a nice plate of fish and chips and a cold beer, or if you're not a beer drinker, treat yourself to an ice cold glass of homemade lemonade. These gardens are definitely worth a visit!
E. L.
House was shut but gardens were nice and cafe nice
B. H.
Extensive grounds with plenty of walks. Enjoyed the individual views and unique features.
K. S.
I just love this place! Wonderful garden with sculptures, flowers, lakes, everything!
Perfect spot to relax, take photos or enjoy a picnic. A real English Garden.
Even better - it's free!
£5 to enter the house (comes with an audio guide) and it's well worth the visit.
J. F.
Great place for a family day out.
We were there to see the open air production of Wind in the Willows which was great.
Nice Cafe with a children's play park nearby. So we enjoyed a coffee at the cafe while keeping an eye on the kids.
B. S.
Great parkland to walk around and enjoy the views. A historic landscape, well worth a visit. For west London a quiet oasis. Can be busy at weekends with families and dog walkers.
There is a great cafe but service is slow and haphazard at weekends in particular.
The house is a real gem with an interesting history and architectural precedent. If visiting London, don't miss this. If you live here, come often.
a. b.
Lovely place . I enjoyed myself huge amounts ..
K. D.
Excellent park for walking especially if you have a dog.
The gardens are free (we didn't go in to the house). There are a lot of dogs in this park especially down by the lake. We took our small dog there and he loved it, all the other dogs were friendly as well under control.
This is definitely more of a local place to visit than a tourist attraction and I think it will become a regular stop for me and my dog.
m. M.
After dark was lovely and the staff were really helpful.
H. M.
This isn't a simple park, it's part of history.
M. P.
Very beautiful rooms particularly on the upper (main) floor. I especially liked the red and blue velvet rooms with wonderfully decorated ceilings. The introductory videos are worth seeing. I found the audio guide didn't work for me, but in many rooms there are A4 sized portfolio's describing the pictures and furniture in that room. Much easier to use. I think only the ground floor is accessible for wheel chair users and also buggies and prams. There is a narrow steep staircase to the basement and a narrow spiral staircase up to the main floor. No photos can be taken in the house. Overall a worthwhile place to visit and the gardens are a splendid place for a picnic.
T. J. A.
I loved it. Couldn't get enough. Best place to be on lovely sunny and day off. So much for relaxation and it's free. There's a Cafe too. For picnics it's a great place. Just make sure to clean up after yourself.
R. R.
Beautiful, peaceful place with scores of friendly dog owners willing to stop and chat to my dog obsessed girls, a wooden play park with sand, swings, rocking and climbing. We always round off our trips with good coffee. Pushchair friendly but you certainly don't need children to enjoy the surroundings.
B. D.
Not so much a house as a gallery. The free Sunday guide was well informed but concentrated on the mix of architectural features rather than the paintings - many of which were copies.
Just be prepared not to see any homely touches - nobody ever lived here. Duke of Burlington officianados will find satisfaction, the rest of us will probably be disappointed.
The park and gardens will lift your spirits, so save the house entrance fee and try an excellent bowl of soup with a crusty chunk of bread in the cafe.
R. L.
Chiswick house is o.k...not really worth the £7:50 entrance fee.
However the grounds are fabulous.
Extensive and reasonably well kept, the place is inhabited with many birds and other wildlife.
Lots of walkways and statuary. Many peaceful little corners.
Very pretty place .
S. A.
One of the bestest park in London. Not too cosy and not so many tourists around ❤️❤️ perfect for chilly out or simple having a lovely picnic area surrounding by the tranquility of the nature 😍😍😍💌🐾🐞🐞🐞 🦆🐦🦆
T. H.
Great space nestled away in Chiswick. Great for kids, playground with cafe close by. Lots of space to run around. Greenhouse and Italian garden were ace. Car park not the biggest but plenty of space if it's not the weekend. Pretty great that it's council run and free to visit
K.
Love this place- I walk the dog here at least twice a week. There is a great cafe/restaurant, a playground and usually some show or exhibition happening. I love sitting by the waterfall, so peaceful.
O. S.
Little gem in West London with the beautiful Palladian house and sizable park around. The park has gone slightly wild apart from the immediate surrounding of the house and the camellia house (green house), but it actually makes the walk around more interesting as if in a wilder forest. Newly built café makes it a perfect place for an afternoon tea after a walk.
The only things to note are that the access is not quite as tranquil the estate being surrounded by major motor ways; that the park is beloved meeting spot for local dog owners and clubs, and beware of any number of dogs often let free running around in case you're not a dog lover yourself.
S. R.
The house itself is ok not as well maintained as other historic homes. The grounds and park are excellent very pretty. Lots to see and do. Good cafe and children's play area so suitable for all ages
h. b.
great place. loads of spots to explore, little lakes, swans, wooded areas, a cricket pitch. kids will love it. there's a playground, although it's not that great. good cafe and clean toilets. you can play tennis there too.
a. a.
Beautiful grounds! Very Alice in Wonderland. Our four legged friends had a great time, and our dogs loved it too!
V. D.
Such a lovely place! I enjoyed having a beautiful morning in Chiswick Gardens. ❤🤗🌷👍
r. L.
Beautiful place; have known it for 30 years. however, i echo the comments of three others (doubtless others have not reviewed ) about the large and fairly dangerous dogs, especially near the lake by the house. I saw dog aggression. Dog owners obviously love the grounds but couldn't they be on leads and then have a lovely space to run free in. I can see efforts have been made to protect young children, but more care and give-and-take is needed.
R. R.
Nice gardens to relax and a nice cafes and restraunts to have some food.
j. b.
Much to note, admire and enjoy here.
The historical gardens, burdened with a legendary pedigree and reputation, have been vastly repurposed, improved and transformed over the last few years.
Although very much still a 'work in progress' this remains a unique setting with much to discover and explore.
An essential outing.
a.
Fascinating place. Take the free guided tour. The guide was very informative and easy to listen to.
Gardens will be lovely on a warm sunny day.
C. C.
beautiful house and green house, lots to see and very peaceful
P. P.
Great Palladian house with fantastic interiors and really excellent well informed guide. If I got it right this is one of the first if not the first house built in the Palladian style. Beautifully refurbished with lovely grounds. Well worth visiting.
V. P.
Not well known for tourists but worth a visit. Beautiful park with lake, bridges and coffee /restaurant. Check their website as they organised different events - summer open aid cinema, theatre play for children, etc
C. K.
Beautiful surroundings and a very impressive house with some fantastic interior decoration ! Gardens are great to stroll around and excellent cafe on site - good for families
A.
Chiswick House is nice, peaceful and picturesque. Great for a relaxing walk to destress. I grew up being taken to Chiswick House often as a child by my Grandmother and today, many years later, I still enjoy going there.
T. F.
Attended the Lantern festival 2017 and it was beautiful. Tearoom was serving the best mulled wine I'd had in ages. A bit muddy, beautiful installations, gorgeous gardens and easy access.
C. N.
Beautifully kept Gardens. Nice cafe with good facilities.
D. D.
Amazing grounds, can't believe it is free to wander round looking at the lake and great buildings. Tea rooms are reasonably priced for London and great WiFi too. Looking forward to Summer Sessions in June :)
W. K.
Well preserved Stately Home with beautifully ornate rooms. Very friendly staff
J. S.
Beautiful Arcadian architectural avenues and follies. Statues galore. A great favourite with the locals. Mahoosive majestic trees, cricket pitch, conservatory, ponds, lake with bridge and waterfall grotto and grand house.
F. C.
Enchanted Place. Green, flowers outside and inside a beautiful and lush greenhouse of roses. Benches, ponds, tree-lined avenues and a large space dedicated to our 4-legged friends!
B. B.
I absolutely love this place.
It is a haven for dog-walkers, the vast majority of whose charges are, in my experience, impeccably well-behaved, but I confess that I speak as a dog-lover with much tolerance of and devotion to our furry friends.
Beautiful gardens of historic importance - inspiration for New York's central park and cradle of the English Landscape movement - with one of the largest conservatories in the country, housing possibly the oldest camellia collection outside of China and Japan. Beautiful lake with enchanting classical bridge built for Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire in 1774 and with a stunning neo-Palladian villa thrown in that was only ever intended for throwing parties and showing off Lord Burlington’s art collection. Eighteenth century decadence at its most impressive. It really doesn't get much better than this.
Check it out and enjoy!
A. P.
Chiswick House is an 18th-century stately home with signature Palladian symmetry. Once the residence of the third Earl of Burlington, this Chiswick gem has interiors with lavish jewel-tone wall coverings and historic paintings.
Chiswick House is surrounded by impressive gardens, too. The English Landscape Movement was born here, and there are follies and lakes dotted around to prove it.
There’s also a Grade I-listed conservatory with rare camellias brought by ship from China in the 18th century. It’s one of the oldest collections under glass in the Western world.
R. C.
We visited the house with Italian friends who were staying in London, so the short journey from the centre of the city allowed plenty of time to see the house and to fully experience the gardens.
Whilst the house is a relatively small example of a Palladian villa, it is beautiful and so impressed our friends, who of course have many examples to compare it with in their home country.
K. S.
Nice gardens, benefitted from taking a guided tour with a well informed gentleman whose is a "friend" of Chiswick House, tour free. Great cafe. House not worth visiting as not much to see
D. A.
My favourite London park
G. K.
Very good food and drinks.
T. l.
Nice garden with a dog-friendly cafe
A. B.
The sound and lightshow was interesting, but felt too stretched out without having enough to view. More music, more installations, more variety of foods and drinks would have been better.
F. G.
Lovely Walking space and good picnic areas but if preferred cafe is also there
T. C. H.
Lovely place to walk, exercise and relax. Lovely cafe that sells food and drinks.
E. B.

After a walk around the idyllic gardens and a tour of the palladian masterpiece, Chiswick House , the cafe in the grounds is a lovely place to have lunch or a tea and cake.
Highly recommended.
You'll forget you're in the heart of West London!
G.
