Reviews of Union Jack Club
D. P.
Had a meal with my wife and son as guest of a good friend who is now a Chelsea pensioner. Absolutely first class food, service and surroundings. great price as well. Friendly staff - we were served by Klara ( I think that's the correct spelling) - nothing was too much trouble. I stayed here once on the 80's as a RAF trainee - why have I not been back? Joining today - well worth it
C. A.
Very conveniently situated right next to Waterloo Station with great views over London. Good food, nice bar and everything kept very clean. We were only able to stay here as the friend we were with is ex Navy.
C. W.
The last time I'd stayed was back in the very early 80's when I was in the RAF, just recently acquired my membership again and wasn't disappointed! It's had a good refurbishment since my last stay and the place looks fantastic, great food ,drink and service! What's not to like? I've no doubt we will be returning numerous times over the coming summer of 2022 unless Doris has other ideas? Cheers!
S. G.
The most reasonable priced hotel with great facilities for service men and women, their families and MoD civilians to stay. And within a short walk from Waterloo station. But use the Waterloo Road exit, not the Waterloo East Bridge as you have to use a massive staircase to get down to the hotels level. Which with cases can be a major pain.
C. T.
A great hotel with outstanding food at really good prices, you won't get a better location for the price, the all you can eat breakfast is outstanding. Staff are very professional and friendly and provide excellent customer service. Rooms are spotlessly clean with great views of London.
A. P.
Great stay and excellent facilities. Can be a little noisy due to the proximity of Waterloo station but didn’t bother me. Good bar area with good service and food
M. C.
Held a reunion dinner, great room, great atmosphere. Food was very good, too much for me, but everyone around me seemed to do well
M. J.
If you're eligible to stay here do it. Fantastic facility in great location. The fish and chips sandwich from the bar is to die for.
S. B.
Held a conference at the venue, staff were absolutely fantastic, assisting with enquiries or requests. The catering was exceptional and then the use of the bar after was greatly appreciated by all delegates.
Highly recommended

Me and the family spent 3 nights here in a family room. We were looking all over london for somewhere to stay and I totally forgot about this place. Excellent prices and you can park your car here as well. So easy to explore London from here just walk through entrance two at Waterloo station and you can get to anywhere in London. The staff are really polite and efficient. Excellent place to stay.
F. G.
Very strategically located opposite Waterloo Rail Station and a few minutes walk to the South Bank. Accommodation is ample for single occupants and bathrooms tend to be spacious and clean.
Breakfast is a typical English fry up and usual fruit, cereals combination.
The staff are generally very friendly and helpful.
There is a good but limited food menu in the bar. I tried the beef burger meal and the burger appeared to be homemade ie not heated up frozen rubbish. Accompanying salad was tasty.
S. N.
Lovely hotel, 2nd stay here. Nice fish & chips meal in the evening, great view in the morning 🌞
J. H. J.
Amazing place breakfast worth buying, excellent food and bar prices very good. We were in one of the flat accommodation for 6 people
A. M.
Decent place to stay and reasonably priced. Nice food, burger is good. breakfast is well organised. Staff professional. Well recommended
D. P.
A very convenient hotel within a stones throw from all of London main attractions. Room was immaculate however difficult to find.
Only draw back to the hotel is the parking facilities. Be careful when opening your boot as the ducting above can leave a nasty dent in you car when your partner doesn't look. Also be careful where you park as a mysterious substance can drop into some of the bays which can strip top layer of lacquer off your paintwork.
J. W.
Great place to stay in Central London for Serving and ex members of the armed forces.
Good bar & restaurant. Make sure you book early if you need a room.
C. T.

What a lovely venue. Unfortunately only for ex service/service personnel and guests...I was a very lucky guest.
J. S.
Great place to stay in heart of London, just round corner from Waterloo train station. Good prices, quality food and house larger 2.80 a pint, yes in Central London! Need to be a member to use club and to be a member, current or retired military personnel.
A. R.
Really good hotel really good price for service personnel the bar was good great location
S. W.
Great location, comfy room, good food.
D.
Great place to stay. Polite, attentive staff, quality rooms and a good menu.
B. L.
Good rooms, good food, good facilities and all reasonably priced - only let down is the noisy and obtrusive cleaning staff that have almost no consideration for guests and seem to spend more time talking loudly in corridors than actually working.
S. P.
Very nice clean place. Food and service excellent.
I. H.
Great weekend in the UJC, staff brilliant very busy due to football .
However great evening and atmosphere. Full English for breakfast great value

J. C.
Food is always the best here.
Friendly, polite staff.
R. H.
Great service, as one might expect. Central for local amenities, good food and bar. Rooms very comfortable and competitive rates.
F. W.
The staff and service is exemplary. The rooms are very pleasant with excellent facilities and ensuite. The hotel is filled with fascinating displays and tributes to the armed forces. The breakfast is fantastic - continental, full English, fresh fruits and cereal, toast & pastries. The evening menu is compact and average but reasonably priced. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
A. R.
The only place I feel as relaxed as I do at home
T. B.
Very clean , good price for central London.
P. B.
Very clean and comfortable rooms. Lovely friendly staff..
B. J.
Top rate, as ann Ex Serviceman, I had not been before, was very pleasantly s uprising with the place
M. D.
For serving or Ex military only. Very good hotel well located in London.
G. H.
Good clean reasonably priced rooms, Bar prices cheap by London standards
N. P.
Great place for ex forces men and women. Very clean and welcoming. Only downside is that the menu only changes very occasionally which was fine for my visit but harder for the person I was visiting who been staying a couple of weeks. It would also be nice to have at least one vegan option (there were vegetarian ones). Generally very well run with charming staff.
C. P.
Always a good stay, recommend to anyone
D. “. O. S.
Lovely place although found it strange they don't use veterans coffee
s. e.
Loved staying here last time, but we were a little disappointed this time. I have arthritis and I could not because of the high sides of the bath get in to have a shower or a bath. We only stayed one night so had we stayed longer we would have asked for a different room. The toilet also was very low so I struggled to get up to straighten my knee.
Staff was pleasant as always.
I was a little disappointed not to find Greek plain yoghurt for breakfast. I like eating this in the morning. The fruit ones are not really suitable as I have diabetes also. The food is awesome if you have no ailments. I do recommend for anyone to stay here though. Like I said this time we only stayed the one night. I will ask in future though for a room with easier facilities.
D. R.
Stayed here for 2 nights in a double room & en-suite on the 15th floor, very comfortable and practical room. Nice clean and functional en-suite. Good value breakfast with quality food & cooking. Had one evening meal, plenty of choice, we'll cooked and again good value. Ideal location to get round London.
M. H.
Well prepared room with fresh linen. Very clean throughout hotel with friendly helpful staff. We had a superior double room on 13th floor
. Not sure what superior rating provided but room was adequate. Would definitely recommend and contemplating full membership application.
J. O.
I have stayed at the Union Jack Club several times over the years and it is a fantastic place to stay in London. If you are a service member, or like me a foreign service member, they will look after you so well.
The location is simply fantastic...I walked to Buckingham Palace, from here and Waterloo Station is just across the road. This hotel is totally and utterly recommended.
J. A.
Stayed here several times. Great atmosphere. Good food
J. T.
Absolutely fantastic place very well run
S. G.
Good location next to Waterloo train and tube station. 10 minutes casual walk to the London Eye. Great value for money hotel. Rooms good, plenty of hot water for showers with towels and toiletries provided, plenty of tea and coffee. Breakfast amazing value all you can eat. Bar menu and restaurant menu varied and very well priced. All staff helpful and polite. Thank you 😊
G. D.
Exceptional service, immaculate rooms and friendly atmosphere. Good central place for a meeting.
B. C.
Superb value for money in the centre of London. Safe & reliable. Rooms somewhat spartan but if all you need is a place to crash then it's hardly a problem.
Evening meals are not perhaps the best. I'd eat out. Breakfast is excellent though and a very reasonable bar.
Staff are excellent - efficient & totally professional.
C. M.
Our first visit, ( husband is ex-RAF) location is great, staff are really nice and helpful. We were in a standard twin and had great view of the London skyline. Breakfast and dinner were very good, and it was very njce to just sit in tne bar at the end of a hard day being a tourist! Our weather was really windy and rainy, but being so close to Waterloo we did a lot. We'll come back when the weather is better 😊.
G. M.
Great club.lovely food and drink.
r.
Very well run accommodation for serving and ex-forces personnel. Check-in was quick and smooth. Jumped straight in the lift to the room which was excellent in all aspects. Good view out of the window too. Top class buffet breakfast and a decent sized bar with TV and plenty of sitting areas. Good craic from fellow residents. Only let down on this visit was that some of the restaurant and bar staff are somewhat surly. They obviously are not enjoying their jobs and are less than helpful at times. No escuse for it. Very well located in Central London.
S. R.
Love staying here the members flat was amazing
P. C.
Excellent all round, cannot fault the place.
2. P.
The best place in London for ex-Servicemen & their guests. Service is top notch. Food is first class - breakfasts are excellent, dinners are one of the best. All extremely well priced. Very good library if you want a bit of peace & quiet. A variety of meeting rooms available for corporate events.
G. G.
Reasonably priced accommodation, although it's a pity; no air-con, but fans are supplied in every room.
Fantastic breakfast and lovely dining and conference facilities. I love the coffee bar in the foyer!
The staff are, friendly, personable, very professional and helpful. Always a pleasure staying here....
S. J. H.
You must be a member to get in here, Yourself or partner must have served in any of the forces. Having had extensive refurbishment this place is a home from home. Just over the road from Waterloo station. Comfy bar area. We had a king sized bed with an suite. The mattress was heaven, no problems sleeping. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. If your serving or ex forces don't hesitate to become a member.
J. M.
Good central place to stay. Staff efficient and friendly
J. G.
Al la Carte good small portions.
J. S.
Enjoyable place to have a meal and a beer
M. M.
Love visiting the Union Jack Club. It is so convenient for Waterloo Station....mainline and underground. Lots going on in and around the hotel.
Always made welcome here as a veteran. Likely to bump into an old comrade too!
The restaurant is beautiful as is the food, always a great choose and presented perfectly by lovely service.
The rooms are great value, I choose single with shared facilities if staying alone, it is half the average price of a city hotel. There are en-suites available, both single and double.
I can thoroughly recommend the UJC for veterans, service personnel and families.
Did I mention the lovely bar...oh and the coffee shop in the foyer.
F. A.
Great club with a breakfast that took me back to my service days, highly recommend.
C. N.
Good size clean rooms finished to a high standard. Bathroom well maintained, clean and also to a high standard. Staff very friendly and helpful and the food is excellent served in an elegant restaurant. Security at a high level too with and in our present climate in London it is very welcome. Highly recommend will now be the place to stay when visiting the capital.
S.
This hotel has a lovely warm atmosphere. Its safe and secure Immaculate and tidy. It really is a home away from home.
Always feel chilled and relaxed, especially in the bar.
Offers many features to help you really enjoy your stay. The hall walls tells the stories of all the VC winners and is a most interesting study.
Plenty of places to sit and rest in the lobby area. Very much geared up for the older residents without over coming the appeal to the younger visitor. So caters for all generations.
Excellent food offered in the restaurant and over the bar.
The breakfast is one of the best you will get in a London and great value for money. It will set you up for the day.
Beverages are of good quality and tasty.
The rooms ,which have been recently decorated are comfortable and clean.
I will always stay here when I visit London.
L. D.
Love this place. It a warm and welcoming environment for Forces & Veteran personnel 👍🏼
A. A. T.
Fantastic silver service but Inexpensive restaurant. Terrific accommodation, I think with 27 levels it must be the largest private club in London. Great games room with showers and lockers, huge bar with comfortable seeting. Library, and a dozen private hire rooms scattered around. Great coffee machine with good coffee in reception area. Internet room and large balcony on Upper level for smokers! But, you need to be in the forces, or ex forces, but officers cannot join as members.
g. g.
Quite possibly the best hotel in London. The new reception area looks amazing, the new rooms are very comfie. It's so clean there and you feel very safe. The food in the restaurant is always 1st class (Jacek needs to acquire some people skills though) the only real down side to the hotel are the 3 main lifts, they are a nightmare and need updating, 1 was out of order all weekend, 1 was working when it felt like it and so the other was constantly telling people to get out. I wish they would invest in some new lifts 😞
C. D.
Excellent meal, good beer and ultra helpful staff . Loved it
F. B.
Always stay here. Opposite Waterloo station so very handy for trains & underground. Hotel rooms always clean and tidy. Good size restaurant. Nice bar area with tv and bar snacks and decent selection of drinks . Can get busy.
Hotel great location for Embankment, London Eye, restaurants, Westminster & Big Ben. All walking distance.
B. N.
A decent pint for a decent price. What's not to like?! A safe haven in the big city. You also get the feeling that the place is there for the right reasons & whilst my fondness for the military may have diminished over recent years, I can say the Union Jack Club retains all the best bits of that life, and none of the bad. Well worth the membership.
P. D.
Great place to stay and catch up with old friends or visit with family members, excellent food and drink. Staff are very professional. A big gem in the heart of London.
P. C.
Stayed here for a few months! Great pricing for ex-forces staying in London. Friendly and efficient staff. Rooms were what I'd describe as no-frills comfortable - clean and well maintained. Good restaurant, decent prices, nice bar, and also games room, reading room and internet cafe. Free access to a local gym if needed. Recommended.
J. G.
Not seen much. I had a training course on the 23rd floor for 2 days. Old building. Small meeting room where we could hardly walk around the table. To open the door and exit the room you had to push the chair of the delegate sitting there. Out of the 3 lifts one was out of order and the remaining 2 could not take more than 4 people even though the SWL was indicating 5 persons ! We had therefore to queue at then end of the day to get to the lobby (16 people by batch of 4!!!). However the view over London is stunning.
N. T.
A marvellous place! It is a club, so use is restricted to qualifying members. This was my first visit. The room was small but was all i needed. The view from the top floor was spectacular. The food in the restaurant was very very good. I could not fault it
L.
This was a great place to stay, especially after being at a hostel the night before.
The breakfast was amazing, the 3 bed appartment was perfect for the 5 or us. Had a kitchen, lounge, shower room and toilet, all very clean.
We felt the bar was a bit formal and quiet, but we just went to the outdoor garden space (which you probably need to ask for directions to).
Our only issue (and the reason for 4 stars and not 5) is when we first went to bar, my sister enquired with the bar man about a cocktail menu, and his response was extremely rude. He asked, very loudly, if she knew where she was, which we were all very taken aback by, as we had no idea a cocktail list was so difficult to come by.
We had just picked up a friend as a surprise and was about to treat her to another surprise, in the bar, that she was off to see pink that night.
This did put a bit of a downer on things, but we didn't let it bring us down for too long, we drank the one round of drinks we'd bought outside, deciding to then go elsewhere for the rest.
Apart from that, the rest of the staff were lovely and very helpful.
C. L.
Excellent food, hospitality and location. Bed was one of comfiest I have found in a hotel. Room was clean and well. Equipped and to top it off there were shortbread fingers on the coffee tray not the usual boring biscuits used in other hotels.
C. R.
A group of around 40 of us had lunch here, it was a veterans reunion, and the food was excellent, well presented, staff were courteous and helpful; just wish they had put the condiments on the table before serving the fish & chips. Nevertheless it is a beautiful and clean venue.
B. F.
Took my wife there for her birthday.excellant food and beer, great value for money.
I. B.
Another excellent visit to the Union Jack Club. My good lady and I spent two nights B & B at the club (18/19 March 2018) in one of the newly refurbished double rooms. As expected the room was spotlessly clean, and on a par with the best London has to offer. The staff were friendly and no request was too much trouble. The dining and lounge bar are first class as are the numerous other facilities and are recommended unreservedly. This has to be one of the best places to stay in the city, close to major attractions and transport hubs. See you next time.
R. B.
Very nice hotel and restaurant for people who are or were in the services and their families. Food was lovely and very reasonably priced. The decor is moving, a reminder of those who put their lives on the line so we can enjoy ours. Some great views over London from the rooms, there seems to be 24 floors.
S. B.
Visited club to attend a seminar that was hosted there. Staff were all very helpful and welcoming. Venue clean tidy and well equipped. Toilets clean and healthy. Tea and coffee served throughout the day and buffet lunch was varied with vegetarian choices, fresh fruit and various cakes and biscuits. Numerous touching memorials to the fallen.
T. D.
Great place for veterans. During my stay, I didn't see any families. The location was perfect; restaurant food was delicious; service was great; and my room was just fit for a single traveler. The single rooms did not have a fridge. Also ensure you have a universal plug. I had to purchase one at front desk for 5 British Pounds. The WiFi was not good and I really needed it for my work.
P. J.
For an ex servicemen/ or service women. This is the place to attend, become a member and get the benefits that the UJC Club offer to ex servicemen/women a meeting club to meet ex comrades, join.
S. W.
This a private members club for HM Forces, Veterans and Families. It offers extremely good value offering high quality food, a bar as well as a gym. There is also a wide variety of accommodation from single rooms to families flats. Facilities also exist for meetings and conferences. Its location in Central London gives easy access to the capital.
A. K.
Only open to current and previous members of UK armed forces and their guests. Good value budget hotel. I found the room comfortable and the full English breakfast mostly acceptable. Located opposite Waterloo Station so some noise but I found it tolerable.
S. F.
I hidden gem. Great central location straight out of Waterloo station. Good value for money. You can even use the facilities if you don't have a room booked. I will definitely be using this again.
A. C.
Use whenever in London. Great service and good food.
A. W.
It's also educational and had the privilege to read about an old VC freind of mine.
M. W.
Great club - modern with simple but comfortable rooms, a good restaurant, a pleasant bar and an interesting library. A great place to stay if you are/were in the armed forces (and police) but were never an officer.
B. P. S.
A great location just a short walk from Waterloo Station and Underground. The Gascoigne Suite, with bar is for hire and makes an excellent venue. At the event I attended the club provided an excellent buffet with an assortment of cold foods.
D. P. C.
Excellent Hospitality, efficient check-in and check - out, extremely clean with good services. Restaurant and Bar recommended. Security team on door and Staff very friendly and informative. Excellent location by Tube and Mainline railway in central London.
S. L.
What a great hotel. Super location. It really is across the road from Waterloo Station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is wonderful if you're not plant based. This was the view from our room.
P. A.
Good food and relatively cheap beer in the bar and restaurant. However, it’s located in a prime spot opposite Waterloo Station and within a short walk to the South Bank of the Thames. A good London base from which to explore the capital.
A. S.
Another fantastic stay, at this gem of a hotel in the centre of London for serving and ex serving personnel. Great service, clean rooms, good food and a fabulous lounge bar for chilling. See you soon.
M. B.
The Union Jack is my families favourite place to stay when we visit London. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The family room is very comfortable and the kids love that they have their own bedroom and TV. The bar and restaurant are both very reasonably priced and the menu offers a good range of food. The Club itself is in a great location and only a few minutes walk to the South Bank and across the road from Waterloo Station.

It's impossible to rate this place more highly. Clean and spacious and run with a soundless, discreet efficiency that would be the envy of the most prestigious of hotels.
This club, offering accommodation, food, drink and entertainment and other services, for serving and ex military personnel, is an ideal stop for those members visiting the capital.
There's an unapologetic array of past British military accomplishments on almost every wall and a multi-panel glazed display of every VC awarded in the reception area.
The establishment, quite fittingly, is run with well oiled military efficiency.
C. U.
My favourite 2nd home. I absolutely love spending time here. Rooms clean and tidy. Staff friendly and the food extremely good and a good quality. Love it.
J. H.
Had a chance to visit this club as a guest of one of the members. All I can say is the atmosphere there is very special. Just the simple fact of limited access makes everyone inside very relaxed and you can definitely feel the silent connection this community has. Sometimes, however, you might even get into a rather unique discussion over a breakfast table.
J. C.
A great place to stay when visiting London. An affordable, comfortable and relaxing venue. It is lovely to see that the Union Jack Club is going through a period of renovation to further develop the club for future generations.
M. W.
Fantastic room rates and a cheap bar full of like minded servicemen and women. This is definitely the only place I'll be staying in London in future. Friendly, helpful staff too!
K. B.
Good service good standards with attentive staff
C. D.
Fantastic place to stay. Safe, secure and well looked after. Great location, very clean and tidy and great staff. A home from home.
b.
Excellent location next to Waterloo Station. Restaurant is very good value with very good food. There is a games room, bar and library. Great views of London from the higher floors.
W. S.
Been a member since 1958 and stay here when I visit London. Best place to stay for ex-service personnel, especially during Remembrance Weekend meeting up with old friends, but these are getting fewer now
Y. F.
The Union Jack has very a very calm and clean atmosphere. As to be expected security and access is tight. Visiting guest must be met and signed in by resident/guest.
It has great views although you will hear the trains.
B. K.
Great place to eat drink and stay over night. And it's a great place to meet serving and ex serving members of our proud armed services. I highly recommend the Union Jack club just for that. And it's a great way to say thank you to all those who have served.
3.
My husband and myself stayed here for 2 nights and had the most wonderful time. The room was lovely and clean with everything we needed in it, the staff were very helpful and polite and the food was excellent. We will definitely be coming again!Thank you.x
I.
Always a great place to stay when in London. Facilities are great, rooms are so comfortable and always very clean and tidy. Staff are great and the food is really tasty. Always stay here if I can.
S.
Good standard of service. Some staff struggle with English and misunderstand food and drink orders. Food is mostly good standard. Prosecco is 150% profit over price on internet. Despite all this it's a great place to visit.
J. C.
Always a pleasure staying here.extremely comfortable hotel and the staff are very helpful and attentive at all times.nothing is too much trouble for them.security is top notch aswell which means you can always rest easy and enjoy your stay. Looking forward to our next stay already. See you all soon staff of U.J club
L. S. (.
I experienced the restaurant, the bar and a quick look in one of the guest rooms here.
Quite a place, they've got plenty of military photos and interesting bits on the walls.
The chicken supreme was LARGE and the pints were reasonably priced.
It was really quite quiet around 6pm, the atmosphere was very relaxed and club like.
D. R. L. P.
Attended a set meal with other Freemasons, ex-military as well as civilians, and we were all very pleased with the whole experience. As a retired SGT, I have now applied for membership so as to enjoy the facilities again.
M. S.
Excellent facilities for Ex-Service and UJC members. Good selection of food, drink, rooms & accommodation. Great security and very warm welcome to family & guests. Easy access by train and bus directly opposite Waterloo Station.
M. M.
Great place to stay. Central to everywhere in london. Spotlessly clean. Staff are polite and helful. The bar is well stocked. Can't praise it enoigh. Oh and all guests have something in common, so you are never alone
N. P.
We enjoyed a fabulous first stay here this week. The rooms are cosy & spotlessly clean; staff are polite & helpful. The food is absolutely first class, the best I've had in a long time. Highly recommended.
G.
The top, non-commissioned, Armed Forces Club in London. Good value, excellent food and drink and staff are most welcoming and courteous.
Update May 2018. It is two years since we last stayed and just as welcoming as last time BUT, the lift from the street to the Club entrance is still out of order: requiring members to manhandle their luggage up the flight of steps. Also, the two security staff at the front door are not fit for purpose and basically a waste of space - their supposed monitoring of visitor access is woeful.
T. P.
I attended a large function at UJK .
Staff were excellent the 3 course meal was well presented , hot and very tasty .
Good friendly well trained staff .
Clean, spacious interior .
r. h.
Have stayed at the UJ club many times (back there later this month) and in my opinion it is the only place for serving or ex military personnel to stay when in London. Conveniently placed for rail and bus access, excellent staff, great atmosphere, cheapest rooms in London, good deals for attractions first class food, great bar, what more could one ask? My only complaint is that because of demand you have to book at least 12 months in advance for a stay over the Remembrance Day period, still I try to remember the old adage, PP&PPPPP avoids disappointment.
J. G.
Fantastic place, very welcoming and food was exceptional. We were staying at a different hotel but stopped here for lunch. Next stay in London no doubts about booking here
P. W.
My oasis in London service not the best but food usually very good. I am a Guinness and rare roast beef sandwich guy. Someone is eating the beef before I get it. Filling less than 25 percent of a year ago that said rooms in hotel are clean and well appointed great price too. I fear yet another case of Ill trained staff training others. The environment is civilised and very pleasant. Is it supervision the issue?
B. B.
Great private members club for the armed forces. It is open to non members for meeting and events or as a guest of a member. Prices are unbeatable! Great location and really good service. Everyone is friendly and helpful.
S. S.
It is the premier place for service personnel or veterans to stay in London.
The staff are attentive, friendly and make you feel at home.
Certainly extremely good value for money.
M. A. W.
WhiskyOscarNovemberDeltaEchoRomeoFoxtrotUniformLima!! WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL ! Cant fault it. Everything that a Serving or Veteran could wish for. Clean, Basic but extremely comfy, even if just a tad noisy, depending upon where your room is located. Meals are tasty good portions and, if not on an Expenses refunded budget, may be a tad bit expensive, but fabulous compared to other surrounding London prices, of that quality.
The wall pictures and thus enclosed history of the building and its past occupiers are very interesting to look and read about. Keep up the great work
B. L.
I am the chairman of an organisation which has an annual lunch in London every year. We decided to have a change from our previous venue this year and were recommended to the Union Jack Club by a member. We could not have been more pleased with the outcome. 81 of us sat down to lunch which was delicious and the service and organisation were excellent as were all the facilities. We are booking again for next year.
b. A. B.
I stayed there with my 2 grandaughters: we had a very comfortable room and an excellent breakfast. We could leave our bags which was useful.
Booking the room needed patience but it was well worth it.
A. 8.
Always a great attentive service and very clean and tidy.. amazing staff.
K. C. (.
This is where services members and ex members can find reasonable prices for hotel rooms within central London. That dont go up to stupid prices when an event in central London is being held. And a stones throw away from the hotel (literally), is Waterloo East tube and railway station. Function room facilities for members outside of the armed forces. For membership prices and benefits. Phone the Union Jack club or mail them. The restaurant attached to the hotel is top rated. And very well priced. Ex serving members need to acquire a temporary membership which will be sorted for them when paying in advance. Serving members of the armed forces are automatically members.
D. H.
This accommodation is provided for serving members and provides a cheap place to stay right across the road from Waterloo Station.
The room I stayed in was mess-like with a single bed, sink and shared amenities. There is a restaurant downstairs with fantastic food at an affordable price. WiFi is also provided, and unlike most hotels is fast and reliable.
Of you're in the military, this is the place to stay in London.
A. A. T.
A fantastic club for "other ranks" serving free, retired £17 a year. On 27 Levels, with a huge bar lounge, silver service restaurant library, dozens of conference rooms, singles doubles and suites available by the night, a games room, coffee area, showers and lockers free for travellers who want to clean up and change. Cancelled my gentleman's club and now save about a grand a year.
C. R.
I have stayed at the UJC many times over the last three years and I cannot fault it. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable, the restaurant and food are superb, the staff are friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. But best of all is the price of accommodation - well within anyone's reach for the high standard on offer!
A. H.
A special place in the heart of London. Exceptionally reasonably priced beverages and a really superb restaurant.
The staff at the club are always friendly and engaging.
L. O.
Was there for a cheap leaving do...but what was more comforting was that this place has the cheapest drinks in London. £3.05 for JD and coke...can't go wrong! But I don't think everyone can get to in s it's invitees only! We had our IDs checked.
T. W.
A relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Extremely high standards of service delivered by professional, knowledgeable and helpful staff.
The facilities on offer are top notch.
If you are not a member yet, I highly recommend you should join.
H. W.
Lovely welcoming staff. Great location. Very comfortable and clean rooms. Excellent food. Very good value for money.
p. g.
it is nearly 40 years since I last set foot in the UJ club.
to say it has come on a bit would be an understatement.
The staff have got to be the most friendly and efficient I have come across in many years of travelling
The room was similar to a travelodge / premier inn and the breakfast was fantastic as was the evening meal.
drinks were very reasonably priced at both the bar and the new cafe in the foyer.
The only thing i would say would be do not travel by car - I had to due to unavoidable circumstances but the 3 mile journey from the M1 takes at least an hour - 2 lots of congestion charge at £11.50 a time and £15 to park (again very reasonable for London) it makes much more sense to travel by train as Waterloo is just across the street
Highly recommended
A. B.
I have stayed at the Union Jack Club on several occasions, I have always been made to feel very welcome, respected and valued as a person. The overall experience has always been, first rate in it's price range. Truly excellent value for money.
M. B.
I really like staying at UJC.
Location is excellent and prices for a central location such as this are incredible. Staff helpful and friendly. Restaurant and bar menu also good and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend staying here.
W. H.
I have been staying in the UJC since the 80s. It is what it is, a place for soldiers and ex serving members to meet, conduct business and sleep at unbeatable prices. The facilities are great depending upon what you want, this is the most secure place in the area to stay and you are right next to one of London's busiest rail terminals. Fantastic selection of books in the library,( military of course) steeped in military history with a member friendly feeling that only a serviceman can appreciate and understand.
O. A.
Great facilities, friendly staff. Loved it. Sadly don't use anymore as despite 15 yr career in full time military I don't make the grade. Sad times. Looked at other places, hmmmmm. Stopped going to London.
M. D.
An excellent place. Makes me want to join the army. As my good pal the RSM said to me when we were drinking at the bar, what better place to have a beer than somewhere you can take a sip and turn around to see a picture of an Apache helicopter on the wall. Hurrah! (But be warned - this place is frequented by an astounding amount of people from the regiment, causing serious congestion on the stairwells of the Iranian embassy)!
c. c.
Former military of the Foreign Legion (as French), several years ago, I had to take an exam next to London (NEBOSH Certificate) at my own expense. A colleague told me about this hotel. I stayed there a week. I was not an officer nor an NCO and I was very well received. I was able to review quietly my course document , go to my classes every day because the hotel is very well located. I met very nice people and the cost for a week was perfect for my budget ..What a shame we do not have a hotel like this in Paris. This is a very good example of Military solidarity ... Cdtl Jeff (Ps and I passed my exam;))
B. (.
Love coming to stay here with Dad very nostalgic military feel, staff always polite and professional and just a nice place to escape London from within London, rooms could be a little bit bigger but you get what you pay for and the quality is very good
C. P.
Very welcoming. Clean, but meals are overpriced when compared to Edinburgh. Would have preferred to have gone to an Italian restaurant.
D. G.
Great place. Had a nice relaxing lunch with my better half. Love the new entry system.
S. E.
Loved it. Comfortable room and great location. And the best breakfast I've had for years (brilliant kidneys!)
J. L.
Great place to stay. Can't wait to get back to visiting!
N. G.
We have stayed at the UJC more times than you can shake a stick at and never had nothing but the best of treatment from all concerned; from security, reception, bar, restaurant and room staff. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The restaurant offers a superb buffet breakfast and the menu for lunch and dinner along with the bar snacks are competitively priced and varied.
Long may I be able to enjoy my visits to London knowing that the UJC is there.
p.
First stayed here back in the 70's with a WRAC girlfriend and have been coming back regularly since then. Great location, very clean basic rooms just what I want. Highly recommended. Must check out the library next time
R. H.
Just had a family evening meal here. First time inside. Was excellent food & an easy place to find when arriving by train into Waterloo.
A. D.
Had a grate time at the Union Jack club.
staff amazing very helpful carnt wait to stay there again.
rooms very clean and as my little Girl is Ciliac they had plenty of choice
for her.
J. R.
Great location in central London. Accommodation and facilities such as bar, restaurant, and events. Very reasonable prices. The Union Jack Club is for serving and veterans of the Armed Forces.
A. Y.
We have stayed here twice now it is so central to everything.rooms are nothing fancy but are clean and have everything you need.staff are always very nice food is ok and reasonably priced especially for the centre of London will no doubt book again 😊
L. A. T. C.
Great hotel with reasonable prices. Serves mainly ex service personnel and their families. Great restaurant and bar with reasonable prices for central London. I will certainly go again...... and again..... etc.
T. B.
Stayed the week before Christmas service good room comfortable but above all something unique that you cant get anywhere else is that bond amongst the people staying there the present serving and ex srevice personel. You cant beat that comradeship born whilst srving in HM forces . Great week will be back
X. P.
Great little rooms right near Waterloo Station. The bar is always full of old sailors with great stories to tell. A friendly welcoming place in the heart of the city.
H. H.
Amazing hotel, great food at low price stayed for two nights and felt very welcome and valued. Definitely recommend.
K. P.
Just right for serving and ex military, clean rooms, really good food, good bar. Everyone there has the same shared experiences, struck up a conversation very soon after entering the bar.
D. P.
Very comfortable hotel. Friendly and efficient staff. Great central location. Would happily visit and stay again. Bar excellent value.
L. R.
Great place to stay. A place to feel safe and secure. Love staying here when we see a show in London. Rooms, food and people are excellent.
R. P.
Safe and secure, superb private club and hotel right in the middle of London 20 steps away from Waterloo station. Spotlessly clean rooms and restaurants, excellent food, great prices, excellent staff (attentive, caring, responsive, friendly, helpful). UJC is our home away from home. Cannot say enough good things about UJC.
I. C.
Good selection of room types.
Single rooms are good value, shared facility rooms do have a sink in the room.
North facing rooms can be noisy with the rail tracks right outside.
M. M.
Excellent meal and excellent service.
E. M.
Nice friendly atmosphere. A very nice place to relax and both the staff and members are really nice. The toilets by the way are the cleanest I've ever seen.
J. S.
Excellent service and superb standard of cleanliness throughout. Delicious breakfast, am looking forward to a return visit 👌 👍
J. B.
Great location, keen prices, clean rooms with good facilities. Staff can come across a little abrupt at times & breakfast service procedure just needs simplifying otherwise I would of awarded 5 stars.
G. B.
Superb. Gotta be a member, so a serviceman past or present. Restaurants, big bar, function rooms and hundreds of rooms at far less than commercial rates. History drips from every wall, prints, pictures everywhere.
M. H.
Great value for money staff super friendly and helpful. Would recommend membership to any service military or veterans.
e. t.
Lovely environment, but why are all the catering staff eastern European or from 🇪🇺 🤔 🙄 😐 😕 ?
Kinda makes me want to learn Polish!
P. S.
Great place for forces, ex forces personnel and their families to stay. Great location, ideal for weekend breaks and other reasons to visit the capital. Highly recommend the place, and lovely staff, always willing to help you
e. l.
Location location location!! It's right outside Waterloo station and a short walk to all the attractions. It is club and not a "open" hotel and requires either you be current serving British armed forces and family or a veteran and family to gain membership to stay.
T. M.
Excellent place from friendly receptionist to the room cleaners. Breakfast has a good selection. Restaurant in the evening is also excellent.
J. E.
Excellent Club with excellent Food & Accommodation and friendly staff. The bar prices are the best in London. I have used the Club for many, many years and hope to use it for many more years to come.
G. R.
Had the pleasure of staying here on two separate occasions. Staff was fantastic and the location is great! If you are eligible to stay at this facility since it is an Armed Forces hotel, I recommend you do so.
T. a.
I live in London but it's still a good place to meet up with my old army mates. I also just pop in for a brew or a beer with a bite to eat if I am in town for a bit.
r. b.
i have stayed in the U J CLUB many times over the years only time i struggle to get in is for the rugby ARMY V NAVY and Remembrance weekend its handy for the south bank and museums food good beer prices not to bad and service excellent
V. H.
Attended the Remembrance day parade 12/13 Nov. 2016. Absolutely brilliant! I first used the UJ club in the 60's, long ago when it was the 'Posh NAAFI of London'. Things have really changed. The club now could easily outsmart ANY 5-Star hotel in the town. The restaurant was superb, and the bar's entertainment on the Saturday night was fantastic. Already booked up and looking forward to next year.
A. S.
Staff were brilliant couldnt do enough for us. Food fantastic, room clean and very comfortable we will go back
I. P.
Awesome experience every time ,cant knock it , Accommodation ,food and drink are the lowest priced around London.
Friendly staff and banging atmosphere.

Friendly staff, clean room, lovely decor, cheap price. More importantly £2.50 got a pint. I'll 100% stay again.

Always a friendly crowd of all sorts. Union Jack ale is well priced at £2.50 when escaping the hustle of the big smoke. Good central position just across from Waterloo station.
A. G.
Great location, rooms were nice and super cheap for either veteran or current serving members of the Armed Forces.
B. M.
Had a great time in London, Union Jack Club was Great, the staff will do all in their power to make your stay memorable, I would recommend joining for any ex and serving NCO
K. H.
For all UK Service Veterans, a good base whilst visiting London. Also offering a full programme of entertainment - from talks to Assoc. dinners.
B. H.
Reasonably priced, only a walk to most central locations, very cheap beer/lager and within a few yards from Waterloo train station

R. W.
As a inner London hotel is was reasonable. However as a serviceman I would have thought that there would be better discounts; we'll probably stay in a b&b next time due to the costs.
R.
Came all the way from New Zealand for the 2013 300YEAR anniversary Dinner of the Royal Hospital School at Greenwich. Merchant Navy man myself so became honorary member of the UJC. My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the club and would recommend it to all ex service personnel and other ex MN members. The centre of the city is just a stones throw away and close to stations for further afield. Loved it and would stay again if we make another trip to UK.
