Having recently moved house Kat undertook the converyancing process from the outset. Her hard-work, commitment and diligence in dealing with some very unyielding ‘road-blocks’ and difficult people along the way is a credit to herself and to DWS as a company, even going so far as to cancel her planned leave on 21st December in order to get our house completed prior to Christmas. We were recommended to use DWS via the selling estate agent Fine & Country. Although initially apprehensive in using a firm not local to us, the client service received from Kat, from picking up the phone to responding swiftly on emails has put DWS in very a good light with reference to us using you again going forwards or recommending you to friends/family.

I would like to say i am so grateful to Mr Christopher Johnstone of DWS Solicitors Leicester branch for helping me today. Before meeting Mr Christopher i was in a very difficult position with regards to my employment matter against a company who had deep pockets. I was not able to afford the costs involved with my case from my previous solicitors. I was left in a really bad position because i had to either find the money to fund my case to continue or handle my case alone without any legal support. I rang around many firms so that i could get some sort of help. Unfortunately after over two weeks of trying i had no luck until i had a call from Mr Christopher Johnstone from DWS solicitors who agreed to review my employment case for free. I had other solicitors agree to review my employment matter but for a fee which i simply couldn’t afford. Mr Christopher Johnstone reviews my case and told me the truth on what my case looks like to him. Luke Shipley is such a kind person and he is the one who made the honest efforts to get through our house deal. Following the death of my mother, I had an issue with the distribution of her estate. I had to find a solicitor & was recommended to use Douglas Wemyss by a friend. This was almost 3 years ago. I had an initial chat with one of their legal advisors & arranged a meeting with Austin Ogbata. I explained the situation, the reasons for the dispute; that my sibling had kept my mothers cash assets & was claiming ownership by survivorship. We considered the options & set out to prove the funds were my mothers & should form part of the estate. I drafted a number of my own letters, so that I could make specific points & they were then edited by Austin, after discussion, to a more legal & professional approach. I found Austin, to be friendly, professional, good humoured & above all the support I needed when it looked like we were going nowhere and I wasn't going to succeed. I think we were both frustrated by the situation, but agreed not to give in.Long periods of silence after we sent letters was extremely frustrating & didn't help matters. Thankfully after almost 3 years, my sibling final made a compromise offer & the estate has finally be distributed. Without Austin's moral support & DWS, I doubt I would have achieved a compromise agreement. Over the last 3 years, all I can say is that it has been a pleasure working with Austin, I have certainly learnt a lot from his knowledge & experience. Advised me on a house purchase. The team (Chaz Thandi and Luke Shipley) were professional, responsiveness and flexible. The house completion was pushed to a completion date that was 2 months earlier than anticipated, the group prioritised and met the date having had only 3-4 weeks to complete.

I have used Douglas Wemyss Solicitors (now called DWS Legal) twice over the last 4 years. The first time it was Bruce Turner who represented myself against a car insurance company. My car had been hit from behind by a seemingly careless driver in Leicester. The case got a bit complicated due to unexpected damage elsewhere to my almost new car. The whole case was handled very well. What I was really impressed with, and I must testify it here, is that, initially after the accident, there were other formidable solicitors whom I happened to get in touch with but, unlike Bruce Turner, they were wanting me to make my claim look bigger (damage/injury) and when I hesitated in responding to that, suddenly they went quiet - that's when I happened to speak to Bruce. I think Bruce steered a balanced course and I very much hope he will keep it up. In the end, I probably got same compensation as what an online company (who advertise 100% compensation) or another large specialist solicitor firm might have achieved. Thanks to DWS Legal for this good show. The 2nd time, Jonathan Green helped me with my case. Jonathan worked more or less on the same philosophy as Bruce. The other side had a young, sharp solicitor (in fact a top barrister) but, in the end, Jonathan and I managed to fend off almost all of the difficult challenges. Thanks again DWS. One constructive criticism I would offer is that DWS ought to try and ensure that, in case of Family court cases, where Form E is being completed, a common software should be used between the client and the solicitor. This would prevent potentially critical delays when the client reviews the solicitor's paperwork (I had received documents in unreadable format).After the case had ended, DWS returned to me £350- which I had overpaid earlier - they did alongside ask me to leave a review at Google (understandably) which I would have done anyway.
