I shop for cycling - it's a nice store with great choice. Staff are friendly and always go out of their way to help, but the cycling side is severely understaffed - waiting times can be over 30 minutes and the only person working on the cycling side often has to skip lunch to help people. Hence i rate it at only 3 stars. Message to the management - get your act together and employ more specialists or give proper training to all of your staff, so every staff member can advise customers on any shop level.

I visited this store twice this week. Once for a very urgent bike repair and the second time for some more bits and bobs for the bike as I was so impressed from the first visit. I can’t find the words to say how great the staff at this store were. They were so busy and clearly under staffed but they dealt with my bicycle repair with kindness, humour and professionalism. This team - especially Haroon, John, Chris and Alan are fantastic and a credit to your company. Please give them a pay rise lol. I've visited Halford Balham branch on several occasions over the past few months and have always left satisfied. Went to have my front brake tightened and left with both brakes adjusted, handle bar tightened and gears adjusted (7th gear has inactive for some reason) Be sure to ask for Quincy or Aian. I went with the intention of finding out about a dashcam and wanted some advice re which model, price and fitting etc. I spoke to Nick who was extremely helpful. He was very knowledgable and explained the best options and showed me the current deals. He had just finished fitting the same model I had chosen to a car outside so he took me outside to show me it as well as showing me where in my car it would be positioned. When I had a couple of different vouchers to use as part payment he helped me with this too as I needed to download codes online first. I bought the dashcam and the required hardwire kit etc and am booked in for Nick to fit it for me on Monday. I couldn’t be happier with the service I received and can’t wait to get my dashcam fitted and start using it.

Took a bicycle in to be assessed as part of the Government Bike Repair Scheme,John at the bike hut counter talked me through all the service options.He has a very methodical approach,I never felt under any pressure to spend more than the voucher was worth (£50) Decided on a Gold Service for £80 at £30 cost to me.My concerns over the safety of the bicycle to ride were allayed after an inspection.It’s booked in for the service next month as the bicycle service depart are quite busy due to the aforementioned Government Repair Scheme.I have no issues waiting a while for a reduced cost service as the bicycle is roadworthy. He recommended a GB40 1000A NOCO Jump Starter. Charging jump starter took 3 hours. Car started immediately.

The reason I really disliked my visit is the reason I really appreciated it and will go back. I needed a new Battery for my car I queued up and requested a new battery, the assistant looked up my Car reg and told me what battery I needed, He asked if I would like it fitted I said yes this cost an extra £25 and said the fitter would be 10 mins this ended up being 40 mins (the reason i disliked my visit) While I was there I got to see the assistants serve / help 4/5 other people What I really liked was when people came up to the till with a product they checked they had the correct part / product and in 2 cases changed the item for the correct part (really good) And the reason I had to wait so long was the fitter trying to replace a light on and Audi which turned out impossible as it was LEDs and glued in . He then started on my battery, The whole time he was pleasant and helpful even though replacing the battery in my car was not easy. I also liked the way the whole store team helped each other and worked together. I must say it was far above what I was expecting from a Halfords store.

I had my front blubs changed, on Dodge caliber. If you have a dodge you know changing head light bulbs is really awkward. Really tight space. The gentleman changing the bulbs had to move water bottle, coolant and steering bottle to get to bulb holder. He had never done a dodge before, he was not fazed. Can't thank him enough.

I'm really pleased with the service I received here especially from the fitting team and the store manager. I have a Peugeot 208 which has a notoriously lll thought through and difficult to access fuse box, and so took it to Halfords to hardwire a dash cam that I had already bought elsewhere. I also had to leave my car with the guys in store who did not kick up a fuss about this and had a very Can-Do attitude which is rare to find these days. So far the DashCam is working as you would expect, the fitting is very clean and neat and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Halfords Balham to anyone considering visiting in the future. Thanks guys

I recently visited Halford, Balham to purchase a Blackvue 900s 2 ch dashcam. I discussed the purchase and fitting with the store manager (Mark) as I had a number of reservations about Halfords fitting the camera in my brand new car. Nothing personal, just that Halfords are known to change bulbs, wipers etc and not really known to be experts more widely. Mark assured me that his fitter (Nick) was an experienced professional. He was certainly right, Nick fitted my cameras with diligence and took his time, no shortcuts and really took pride in his work. I couldn't recommend these guys enough, Mark and Nick are both outstanding and an asset to Halfords. On a separate point, I sincerely hope that Halfords would invest more on their headcount and support in store. Every store I visit around London just does not have enough staff forcing customer to have a poor experience in waiting to see someone, even though in my experience they were very competent people once I could find them available. Thank you Mark and Nick for great service! Im a very happy customer.
