The staff at this branch of Halfords are always helpful and knowledgeable. I just feel sorry for them though as they often seem understaffed. The last time I visited the store there was one poor guy all on his own just trying to deal with everything. He really did his best to help us though and was very polite and helpful so I would give him top marks for effort. Great staff. The managers just need to look after their staff better though and employ more of them so that the existing staff don't become overwhelmed and stressed.

Went specifically to browse children’s scooters and collect an order. The range of scooters on display were limited (all were stunt scooters) so we were unable to find something that we wanted. The staff member who helped us with our click and collect order was friendly and the collection time was quick. Although no bag was offered and we had multiple items. The atmosphere was quite dull, very quite but it was in the morning on a weekday. They could benefit from better lighting in order to make the store feel more inviting and bright.

First the experience started online, when I was able to use the Halfords web tool to find the correct coolant for my car. I was clueless and the emergency coolant light had turned on on my dashboard that day. I then managed to buy the right item ready for free collection the next day with ease (and at a discounted rate that was going)! Collection was just as straightforward and smoothly facilitated in person as the experience had been online. Have been recommending friends and family since!

It is strange visiting shops as they begin to open now in 2021. Halfords on old Kent road have done well. They have a strict policy of 9 people upstairs and 20 downstairs currently. A friendly man on the door is there to keep count and let people in as others leave, and ensure masks are worn. Hand wash is available as you enter, and when I visited the door man read cleaning the door handles continuously. Distancing lines at the till help as well.

Excellent service! I have to say that after being twice disappointed by a different Halfords store, I was pleasantly surprised to get my bike fixed within 2 hours by Chris, who accepted it even though it was booked in for assessment (it had been already assessed by the other store). So, Chris, the mechanic was brilliant; I am enjoying riding my bike again after almost a month of waiting for the appointment. Tuffayl, who handed me the bike when I went to collect was also brilliant. I was in hurry and he speedily did the final checks and receipt; he also gave me very helpful advice. Overall, excellent service from my preferred Halfords store. I always get good service from this store. The staff are very knowledgeable and always go out of their way to help customers.

Staff should be better trained to check order details when customers call to ask about it. I received this Saturday an email saying that my bike would be ready to collect the next day (Sunday 08/08), which was strange to me as my order was planned for next Sunday (15/08). I called the shop twice to check if it was really the case (once on Saturday afternoon and one Sunday morning at the opening) and twice by 2 different ladies I was told that my bike was indeed ready. When I arrived the male staff I talked to said that no, my bike wasn’t ready and I had to come back one more time on Sunday 15/08 as first planned. I have no complaint about him as he took the time he needed to check everything and to confirm that my bike wasn’t ready, unlike the 2 female staffs I talked to over the phone and who wrongly told me that my collection was ready. Email alerts should be fixed as well as they are the starting point of the issue that happened. Customers shouldn’t receive collection emails with date and time of collection when the items aren’t ready. Won’t take me much time to come back as I live quite close to the shop anyway but still, staff should be sure of their answers especially when they were told by their clients that the collection time they received by email was different from the time that was written in their order confirmation.

Went to Halfords this morning to basically ask for help with fitting a roof box to the car which I’ve been lent for a weeks holiday in Rye I had issues installing and was hoping for some assistance but realised Monday morning first thing could be very busy ! Until I came across a gentleman called Noel who worked there I’ve just got to say even though without an appointment and a vast number of customers already waiting is was able to help and provide me the assistance I needed Which in turn has made the beginning of my holiday with my family much easier. They have a friendly staff at the Bike Hut I really liked how they allowed us to try the bikes to see our size like when I was buying an Apollo Radar 17 the staff really explained how the gears worked and how dangerous they are when you change them before you ride the bike. He also explained how the bike helped you and how the Care Plan can help you and your bike. Also in Vets4Pets they have everything you need for your pets like the food and the treatment. They also have cute rats, rabbits, Syrian hamster and hamsters.

He arranged for all the parts to be ordered and delivered to the store and then he booked the appointment for me to return to have the stereo fitted by him. On walking into the and looking at women’s bikes as I was not aware of the difference with some of them, I was approached and greeted by a customer service assistant called Tuffayl. Walking into shops now-a-days sales assistants often stand around chatting with each other until a question is asked. My experience and mindset were changed today in exemplary show of professionalism, empathy, knowledge and customer service that I have not experienced in a very long time. I have been into a number of cycle shops looking for a bike in a very wide area and have not had anything as close to the customer service experience that I received from Tuffayl. He answered all of my questions with confidence and cleared my head of doubt as well as explained calmly and confidently the things that I did not understand and turned my negatives into positives. I know where I wanted to be using the bike, but had no idea as to what would be good for me, hence I had been looking at women’s bikes thinking that they were men’s bikes. That all became clear when Tuffayl explained everything. His approach was friendly and supportive and after explaining what I wanted the bike for most of all, I was guided towards for me I felt was the perfect bike. Tuffayl showed me the features that I did not know and I felt comfortable enough to ask questions that I felt were stupid and did not ask in other shops. With full professionalism Tuffayl answered my questions and explained things that I had yet to ask. I had no hesitation in wanting to purchase Tuffayl’s recommendation as he knew exactly what it was, I was looking for, a gift that is lost with many people now-a-days. I also purchased a number of other items including the Halfords Cycle Care without a thought of doubt in my mind. Tuffayl recommended it and I bought it. To have a good customer service experience is nice. However, to have a great customer service experience is wonderful. I wish that there were more people like Tuffayl who are happy in doing their job and are likely to create a long-lasting legacy with everything that they do. Thus, making a Halfords shopping experience one that will be talked about for a long time. I sure will be recommending Tuffayl and where to find the shop that he works in. Thank you for all of your guidance, support and such a great service. Tuffayl is the kind of person that every Halfords should have in all of their staff. Riding home this evening with the best and most comfortable ride that I have had in a long time and the best bike that I have ever purchased. Thank you again.

I popped at this branch to have a health check for my B-Twin bikes for free today. I entered the store and told a member of staff that we've come for our appointment and he was very helpful indeed! So much so that he offered to carry two of my bikes up the stairs! Wow! What a very strong man! I was going to tip him but didn't see him again unfortunately. We had both bikes checked and asked for confirmation that it was a free service as this was my first time here! I've had my bikes for two years which have hardly been used in that short space of time. The only time we really used them was for the most part during lock down in the summer of 2020. I was surprised when he told me that I will need a new bracket priced at £10 and the wheel true x2 at £12 plus a labor £30. The other bike just needed a bottom bucket at £10 and again £30 for labor. I was shocked to hear about how they charged for labor to be honest. I feel the labor is more expensive than the actual parts for the bikes! Wow! When lock down is over in April, I will go back to Decathlon (where I originally bought the bikes) and inquire if they do a labor charge. If I was going to have anything fitted I wouldn't have been able to anyway as the mechanic guy was not there for some reason. I feel they need to sort this out! They need more members in their shop! In the end, I was told I would have to go to another branch to sort this out which was really bad! It's a very quiet store at this branch with hardly any cycling clothing for women. They need to sort out their stock especially in the cycling department as I was really looking forward to looking at the clothing in person rather than online. I will give this branch a 3 star, I think.

They adjust the seat according to my son’s height and they they advice us to get care package which was only £10 a year I case anything happen to it they will fix it for free. Although my bicycle (and the previous one that I ordered) was delayed, I was kept informed of the progress. When I arrived the bicycle was still not ready, I was told it would take about 15 minutes, which it did and a full apology was made. I totally understood as the store is very busy. It's hugely understaffed but Mario, who works in the bikes section, was super helpful and managed to help me order the exact bike I wanted using vouchers after my previous bike was stolen. I was having problems using them on the halfords website but he went out of his way to ensure I could get the order in, during a time when it seems impossible to get new bikes elsewhere. I hope he is valued by the store but unfortunately it seems the management are not employing anywhere near enough staff so they may lose the good eggs they have.

I was on a long commute home. My chain broke. I was near Halfords and popped in expecting to be told I needed to book the bike in. Instead Vaidas in the bike department took a look. With the speed of light checks my broken chain was usable, relinked it with a quick link, checked ok, adjusted my gears then charged just for the link. Whirlwind excellent service. I could not have been more impressed by Vaidas as a representative for Halfords. I am not easily impressed but this was exceptional. I don't normally write reviews, but I really do owe it to Mario for his out-of-this-world service when I visited this week! Mario guided me through purchasing my first ever road bike for work after my old one had got stolen. He went out of his way to alert staff in the shop to the theft, advised me on the best locks and lights for my budget, and was even honest enough to admit that I'd mistakenly been advised to get a different, too-small bike by another colleague when I'd first visited the shop. I had to order another model into store to pick up a couple of days later, but I trusted the advice I was given and I'm glad I did because my new bike is perfect! Really felt taken care of and will be sure to come back to Mario whenever my bike needs servicing. Thanks so much, and see you soon!

Hands down one of the best Halfords for bike maintenance. I took my bike in as the chain was making some funny noises - the mechanic was more than happy to take a look on the spot and made all the necessary adjustments (even tightening my breaks). After 10 minutes he handed my bike back to me, good to go, and I was in shock that I wasn't being charged. Top notch customer service - really makes you feel like you're in good hands.

I can't say much about the store just yet but a gentleman named Afjol (hope I spelt it correctly) was super helpful over the phone. It's not very often Halfords even answer their phones let alone call you back TWICE to help with updating your order. Basically, I ordered two bikes but realised one was too big (even though it was labelled medium. watch out for Carrera sizing) so I called this store to see if I could change it for small. This is where Afjol told me he would speak with the manager and call me back (I wasn't very hopeful at all). Lo and behold, Afjol called me back within 5 minutes to explain that they didn't have the bike in stock but I could cancel and re-order for another date so they could have both bikes delivered. I didn't want to cancel as bikes are hard to find these days so I just told him to leave it and I would try the medium for size anyway. That was the end of it, or so I thought. Then, about 10 minutes later, my phone rang again with the same number so I answered it and it was the legend Afjol. He called me back to ask if I wanted to cancel half of the order but he would then order me the right size bike and get it delivered to store for me as a direct swap (no fussing with cancelling and re-ordering). I was pretty shocked that he even bothered to call me back to help me but I really appreciated it and hope he gets a nice bonus or raise this year. Thanks Afjol, you made Halfords look good for a change😊.

Initially another boy started helping me telling me I should sign up for one of the care packages and then also pay for parts. Mario overhead and intervened - he told me there was no need to pay for the care package all that I needed was my tyres pumped and the chain etc. oiled - I was so pleased to have not been ripped off as he could easily have done, and as the other boy almost do. He did this there and then so I could cycle home with a good as new bike. We had the pleasure of being attended to by Dinh at Old Kent Rd on 11/12. We have a new car and needed a new car seat for our daughter who is 4, has special needs and is a wheelchair user. Although we had already done our research and chosen the Joie Bold for its extended harness option, Dinh spent time making sure the seat would be right for our daughter by allowing us to sit her in it on your in store seat. She demonstrated how she would be positioned in it and showed us how the features would work as she grew. Our daughter was visibly happy and calm. We also have 2 year old twins and decided to get the same seat for them as their existing seats were no longer fit for purpose. We had seen the Joie Bold at one of your local competitors cheaper and produced evidence of this so Dinh was able to price match for us which was great. On a rainy, windy day she took her time to fit all 3 seats for us and again showed us how to do it ourselves in the event we needed to change vehicles or otherwise. She made sure all 3 of our children were seated correctly and safely. Dinh was knowledgeable, compassionate, warm, friendly and patient throughout. She genuinely went above and beyond to ensure we received the best service and is a credit to your organisation. Please pass on our compliments to her.

I went into the cycling department to buy some new pedals and some other bits for my bike. David was on shift and helped me with the fitting on my new pedals, tighten my brakes and gave me all the answers to my questions. I also needed the chain replaced which he quickly booked in for me after explaining to me how the chain system works. This was complete the very next day when the mechanic was in. I have been in customer service for over 10 years. I like to think I have gained excellent customer service, but I find it very difficult these days to come across someone who offers excellent customer service. David however was way up there! He was very professional, helpful and friendly. It's employees like David who will bring a shop more business due to his great personality and work ethics. He also offered me other products I wasn't aware about which I also ended up taking... I.e. Halfords cycle care plan and some green jel to prevent flat tyres. Not good for cycling gear. Not only is the shop poorly stocked, but the cycling facilities are next to none. There are a couple of racks next to the door for parking bikes but the pavement is not wide enough to do so. Sure there’s a couple of hundred car parking spaces but I’m not sure people would approve of cyclists taking up whole spaces.

Great service! Partner had dash cam fitted on cab. Sean done a great job! Had booked in for front camera & Sean had time to fit a rear one also, all done in 1hour. Took time to show him how it worked also. I took mine to Orpington to be fitted & was told when booked it would take a few hours, guy fitted it in 1 hour 20 & just handed me keys not showing how it worked. Think I will be shopping at Old Kent Road in future. Much better service. What I did notice was Orpington had it done under a canopy cover that is just outside shop, while old Kent Road didn’t have this. This is a review about the radio ( pain in the neck) and the efforts Halfords put into it to get it to work (excellent) I recently bought a Sony Mex-N6001BD radio to replace my old one (2004) whose CD player wasn't working well. Afterwards, travelling to Suffolk, reception was 30% clear, 30% garbled and 30% silence, but the CD player worked well. Before I had a perfectly good, if limited radio and a lousy CD player. Now I just had an expensive CD player. I went back to Halfords who painstakingly installed an aerial. They got it to work but once I'd driven away and changed the station, I couldn't get back to where I was. I have nothing but praise for the efforts of the Halfords staff but the radio is too clever for its own good. I could go on about it but that will do for now.
