New the problem with car right away as soon as I pulled up. Told me I might have damaged some sleeve thing in the clutch he would keep parts and show them to me. Price quoted was price I paid. I am very happy with the job and would recommend him to anyone.

Knowledgeable and honest staff. My wife's car is 13 years old and the staff at James Allan & Sons have serviced the car and put it through its MOT in the 9 months we've owned it. Because of the age of the car it's had a lot of major service items needing doing to it and the quotes we've had from them have always been competitive and the work has been first rate. Following the car's recent service, where they replaced several worn suspension components and fitted four new tyres, all for an extremely competitive price, the handling of the car was transformed and it was a huge improvement. The owner doesn't mince his words and that can take a little getting used to but so far they've not steered us wrong.

Same day I called I got my motorbike MOT done

Received a quote to fix my clutch and job was completed by the following morning. Other garages had quoted £200-£300 more which probably included changing the flywheel also, but James Allan told me it didn't need changing which proves their honesty. Speedy, efficient service AND an honest assessment&fix, couldn't ask for more. A clean and tidy workplace also, which is usually a good indication a business is being well-run. Can highly recommend and will be using again.

A fantastic, well established, honest family run business. Having been a customer here for many years and put several different cars in for a service and MOT I've never been disappointed. You always get an honest run down of the work done and for a fair price. Service is always punctual and the place is always busy. Ideally located in the city centre just off Leith Walk this place is an independent diamond in the rough and the only garage I would take my car to.

have used this garage for years, efficient and very good value and the integrity of the staff has never been in doubt. it is a busy garage which says it all. the owner is a car enthusiast and your vehicle is treated with the same respect he treats his own. i suspect he does not suffer fools gladly.

These guys are superb. I took my old and visibly dinged and dented BMW to them because it had an oil leak and they did a thorough job of cleaning up the engine bays and analysing properly where the leak was coming from and despite it being a long bank holiday weekend they sorted out my car with new oil and a new filter plus replacing the sump gasket and all for £215 only! I will tell ALL my friends about these guys because they really did a great job for very fair money and so I can keep my old and otherwise OK Bimmer on the road now. :)
