Reviews of East Bristol Bakery

Excellent bakery. If you appreciate the quality of croissant you can often buy in France then you won't be disappointed by their's. Bread looks fabulous, friendly service and the only reason it's 4 not 5 stars is that they only offer filter coffee. Recommended!

What witchcraft is this? I just moved up the road, heard good things, thought I could handle it—how wrong I was.
I ate what can only be described as the most bloody amazing almond croissant ever. A hefty boy, a nice weight to him and sporting a good tan, it was flaky in all the right places, ever so buttery and crispy and fragrant, topped off with perfectly toasted almonds and dredged in powdered sugar. Inside, a decadent almond dream—not the sickly sweet artificial garbage you usually get fobbed off with. This was the real deal.
Just to blow my own mind, I adulterated the poor sod with a streak of almond butter—which if you haven't done before you must immediately, but sit down before you do because it's next level stuff.
I need to move house again or I will quickly become an almond croissant myself.

I visited East Street Bakery and got an aubergine sausage roll and an apple crumble danish... My word, I've been to a lot of bakeries around Bristol and London, and that danish is definitely near the top of the list. Need to go back again to try more!

I don’t do reviews habitually but i felt compelled to come on here and announce publicly that their cinnamon swirls make all other cinnamon swirls seem pointless.
I also tried their passionfruit, pistachio croissant pudding (like a bread & butter pudding, but more highbrow) and it made me want to weep. The flavours were so perfectly balanced. It was art… this is some clever shiz!

Good sourdough, I love the thick caramelised crust and the crumbs was moist and tender. I bought the large white sourdough. Don't hesitate to grab the large ones as it would be gone before you know! It was so good with just simple good quality of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Very friendly staffs with lovely smiles!

Fantastic bakery, nice staff and delicious bread, pastry and selection of basics like milks (vegan and not), eggs, fresh juice, etc. Feel very lucky to have them in the neighbourhood!

Lovely people in this shop... Came today to see if I'd be lucky to find any of the little Italian almond lemony biscuits - know only made few times a week, possibly more a weekend thing. They were not but got a aubergine sausage roll instead. It was absolutely delicious!! What a wonderful thing they have created with these new savoury treats. I'm a payed up canivore but these aubergine sausage rolls are every bit if not better than porkies IMO. Would give 5 stars but for the gluten free sourdough> it is nice tasting but a bit to dense for me. If it could be made lighter & fluffier instead I'd buy it all the time & would give 5 stars. All the same great bakery, always a nice chat with lots of drool worthy bakes on offer + now with the wonderful aubergine sausage rolls.

AHHHH as a Danish person living in Bristol I felt like i needed to review this place, and I tell you, the cinnamon swirl IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Lots of cinnamoney sugar and butter, what more can you ask for! And this is with years of experience eating cinnamon swirls growing up in Scandinavia... also don't even get me started on the Pan Au Chocolat or the DELICIOUS specialty sourdough bread (with sesame seed on top) it was still WARM when I got home like Oh MA GWAD! My partner asked if I wanted it toasted, like WHAT! Such sacrilege!! I luckily changed his mind. Only sad thing is that they are closed Sundays, so due to my Mon-Fri work hours i can only go Saturdays... Which probably is for the best for both my shape and wallet anyway! If you come this far, just go there already. If you are looking for a sign, this is it. Treat yo self.

Smashing out some of the finest sourdough in the northern hemisphere. With steep and rich local competition. Much chat about their vegan take on a seasonal classic, the hot cross bun. It's a beautiful thing, but does it beat the Bristol Loaf? Jury's out. Eat them both.
A.
The best sourdough, and so many treats. Always a queue at the weekend but it moves pretty quick so don't be put off, it's worth the wait!
M. E.
THE best bread in Bristol! I don't know how it's so much better than the rest, but it is bloody amazing.
S. M.
Absolutely delicious pastries, I bought 2 for t'other half and I. I've eaten both.

Absolute gem of a bakery. They have different type of sourdough (only good type of fresh bread you can get in Bristol) which are miles away from the other sold across bristol. Small selection though. Only 4 to 5 selection. They do amazing pastries. Best I have had in years simply. Sweet patries (your standard croissant, pain au chocolat, almonds croissant) and other savoury pastries are all great. They also sell fresh milk and eggs. Highly recommend

Great sourdough, if not best in town. I’m by no means a bread-connoisseur, but had my fair share of sourdoughs in my life and we’re always back to get some more here. Small, not over complicated shop, friendly service every single time.
A. C.
Such a great bakery. The almond croissants are the BEST in Bristol (solid 6/7) and there's also lots of other delicious pastries and cakes here. The sourdough and rye loaves are super tasty too. Quite expensive but seems to be on par with other similar bakeries in Bristol.
A. Y.
Great selection, don't go in Hungary you will buy the whole shop! Super friendly staff, everything made there, super clean & tidy
S. D.
The croissants and sourdough bread tasted amazing, maybe the best I've ever had, however I gave 3 stars because they forgot to put us the cinnamon swirl and the pain au chocolat which we paid for, and didn't realise until we got home, which is a bit far from the bakery.
s.
Super friendly local bakery with incredible selection of loaves and sweet treats! My favourite is the 5 seed sourdough and tiramisu brownie. They also sell staples like milk, eggs, butter, coffee etc
J. J.
Best almond croissant in town, transports me to France with every bite. Amazing bakers and very lovely staff!
C. F.
Be there before 9am on a Saturday morning to guarantee being able to buy the Cinamon Swirls.
Warm them.in the oven for 10mins and you will have the best breakfast you've ever had.
Very friendly staff, fantastic pastries, and the Sourdough loaves are spot on!
P. T.
Sourdough heaven!!
What a gem of a find.
An artisan bakery tucked away in little India.
You can get over 8 different kinds of sourdough bread here. Different varieties available on different days too!!
Try them all!! If you have a favourite, you can order in advance to make sure you don't miss out.
They've also just started making pastries and savouries like a tasty focaccia!!
Saturday morning it can get busy, with queues outside the door!!
All in all, try it. You won't be disappointed.

Great bread, but everytime I go they try to charge me after I ask for each item. It would be great if they'd ask "is that all?" Before they tell me how much is the bill. Have to keep saying "one second, I also want..." almost after every time.
M. T.
A tasty variety of bread and pastry options. A little on the expensive side
L. R.
Love their brown sourdough bread. Really friendly staff and good prices. Delicious treats, some vegan and gluten free. Sometimes they have day old bread on sale which is great for soup. Highly recommended as the local spot for bread... if you get there in time!
A.
Used for the first time today, sourdough whte loaf was amazing, although the seeded sourdough had no trace of seeds, unless they are milled into the loaf...? Very good taste though! The chocolate croissants and cinnamon roll were so good! Very pleased I found you, thanks to an instagram ad btw :-) Looking forward to my next order. Super friendly service and really well socially distanced service during these difficult times. Highly recommended.
B. I.
Friendly people who make fantastic bread day in and day out. You can also get great coffee, preserves and pastries. Everything is served in a paper bag, so no plastic given out here. You can also place orders and engage with the bakers themselves.
G. J.
Best Bristol bakery, makes the others look like fakeries. Spelt flour sourdough is best in show, but croissant and cake are a must take. Free range eggs and organic milk, butter so good it tastes like silk. If you want life to be a bit more serene, make this place a part of your morning routine!
G. P.
They bake bread
... And they sell bread 🍞
Lovely
J. H.
I love this bakery, the bread is excellent, we tend to just go for the large white loaf but it's all awesome. The best thing though is knowing it was all baked there that day. When you go in you can see them baking; smells of baking, bags of flour on the floor etc. it's well worth paying a little bit more (and it is only bit more) for this kind of quality.
V. B.
The white sourdough is the best in Bristol!
R.
I go here a lot for bread. Its good bread. However I recently ate a spiced tahini cookie and it changed my life. Gone are the days of not having eaten a spiced tahini cookie. This spiced tahini cookie reaffirmed my faith in humanity.
Staff are very friendly, and the saturday morning queue out the door is generally very polite.
E. B.
Nice Staff
Great Selection
Everything is Fresh
I imagine this is what Heaven smells like.
Avoid if you are on a Diet!
Faultless

Just what Easton needed a brilliant bakery! Love the Sourdough and the Malt Brown loaf - yum! Farm fresh eggs, jam and lovely cakes and muffins. Friendly happy staff too - no reason to buy rubbish bread anymore.
A. L.
Great bread baked fresh, and wonderfully warm and friendly staff.
How great to have such an awesome local bakery in the hear of Easton!
Truly a little gem in this vibrant community.
5☆ all the way.
L. W.
The best almond croissant I've had in my life. It was huge too. Staff really friendly too.
I. W.
Went there after found out from Este Kitchen that they supply their bread from East Bristol Bakery.
The lady behind the counter touches their products with bare hands and later cash the money (they dont have card reader)!
Not very hygenic!
I mentioned that and she said:
"We are small business and we dont have time to wash hands after each client"
It was so ridiculous that I just left without saying anything...
Very good advertaisment for small business :-)
A. M.
Vibrant, busy (queue) bakery. Really interesting breads, I bought a polenta + rosemary & it was gorgeous. Will be going back. Advise an early visit before they sell out
W. M.
Often get their sourdough and it's delicious. Lucky Easton to get this place. They were happy to give us a bit of their sourdough starter which worked well at home. Not going to stop coming here though!
I.
Delicious, innovative bread and pastries with clever covid-secure procedures. Right up there as one of the best bakeries in Bristol, without doubt
S. C.
A great selection of home made baked goods. From breads to bakery. Go early cause most of the goods tend to run out. Yeah, i'm so serious about that 😊
B. G.
My favourite in Bristol! That seeded sourdough is such a winner. I think their rye is also my favourite ever, which is quite the statement, I've eaten alot of rye!!
M. A.
Absolutely amazing... My kitchen is starting to smell good like their bakery. The fact they close late a very big bonus for those with busy schedules and a destressor walking in the bakery.
S. C.
You could buy your sweet pastries here instead of buying them with your coffee at high street coffee branches. They don't do coffee here, you take your cakes away in a paper bag. 😀

Great bread made in store . Many other healthy options on essential daily products . Its top dollar but worth it .
S. G.
