We were disappointed when visiting today. We were greeted by someone telling us there was no chef today so no hot food, which was actually OK as we only wanted hot drinks & a snack. We saw promoted on the tables that if we downloaded the app we could save 20% off our order so decided to do that but were told they might not have what we wanted, before the guy walked off. We then said OK we'll just order at the table, from the table menu, which we still couldn't get a plain scone. We paid £11+ for 2 hot drinks & 1 piece of cake. The customer service wasn't good and the toilets were smelly & nothing special for a patisserie Valerie. All in all, the cafe doesn't live up to it's reputation at all, but the cake & coffee were tasty.

Such an amazing little place. I immediately fell in love with the ambience. The desserts are amazing! I cannot get enough of their hot chocolate!! So creamy yet rich but not overpowering. Their chocolate eclair was amazing and not overpoweringly sweet.

Excellent place! For those unaware, it's not just pastries. They have sandwiches and other food. We got the Afternoon tea for two and there was plenty of food for us to eat. Everything tasted great and the staff were really nice. Highly recommend this place.

We arrived at about 2pm and the was plenty of seating. The staff cane and took out order quickly but it was about a 15 minute wait for the drinks to arrive and a further 10 minutes for the cakes. It was all ok... I've heard people rave about this place but I'm not sure what the appeal is if I'm honest, the cakes are ok but a little too sweet and really nothing special. In terms of this branch the staff were friendly and the service was ok..if a little slow.

What a nice little place on Rose street in Edinburgh. They have tons of vegetarian options and some egg-less cakes too! The coffee is amazing. I am from Seattle and I have tasted some good coffee and this place definitely is one of the top coffee places that I have visited. We tried cheese cake and it was mind blowing. Not too sweet and very creamy. Strawberry cake is one of their most popular ones and when you taste it, you will know why. They have outdoor seating where you can soak in sun if the weather is nice. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for good pastries and coffee. I am going to try their tea experience next time.

We had 2 poached eggs with bacon and a pot of tea. My husband had the same food with coffee. I am sorry to say,that I was very disappointed, as I have always been a loyal customer. The we're over cooked and the bacon was very hard. The waitress was really lovely 😍. Disappointed 😞

Considering this is a busy cafe on one of the most touristique streets in Edinburgh service was remarkably friendly. If not speedy! A fair stab at a patisserie experience, but it is a chain so don't expect blue riband pastries, just something with a French flavour a little different to your average Scottish cafe.

Everything looks great but the mille feuilles wasn't anywhere as good as it looked. Creme pâtissière was something all together different from what is expected in France. Some thickening agent was included. Eggs and patience are required, not cornstarch, agar agar or some such thing.

My sister and went for a last minute afternoon tea, which was delicious, and the staff were lovely. It was very busy but they fitted us in. The disabled toilet was very clean and easy to get to. Will definitely go back again.

Amazing place! Feels cozy, comfortable and a friendly atmosphere adds to a great experience! We did have to wait a little longer for our cappuccino and a smoothie, but I totally understand that as we came in at the same time as another 5 or 6 other tables along with already filled restaurant, one waitress had more than enough work, so we didn't mind waiting a couple minutes longer. Fantastic service, delicious dessert! We would rate our Strawberry Delight 8/10, Black Forest cake 9/10 and your fabulous cappuccino 8.75/10. I'll remember to come back again!

Had a gorgeous breakfast and one of the best flat whites ever here, such lovely service from all the staff and in particular our waitress Ashleigh. She even gave us a sample of the French toast with mixed fruit which I had seen and thought hmmmm not sure about sweet and savoury, I have to say it was delicious and I will definitely be ordering it next time I visit patisserie Valerie.

This is a superb patisserie shop and restaurant on Rose street. If you decide to eat in the breakfasts are delicious and the menu has good choice without being overly long and complicated. The cakes which are available to eat in or takeaway are amazing, brilliant presentation as well as tasting great. The hardest part is choosing a cake! The staff are very friendly, polite and the presentation of the takeaway boxes is a lovely touch . Highly recommended.

Magnificent breakfast as always. I came to Edinburgh for the first time and when I go to à new city I always suggest a patisserie valerie for breakfast with my friends. Didn't disappoint. Lots of tourists so service was a bit slow but that's understandable.

I had a very, very good Mixed Berry Tarte with an espresso. If I happen to be in Edinburgh for more than a few days, I would be back for more! Good service as well - another customer left a bag behind when she left, and one of the employees sprinted after her with the bag! You don't see that every day.

Was having a nightmare trying to get a cake delivered within Edinburgh the same day till I got hold of Chris, the manager on the day. Chris was very accommodating and arranged swift delivery after suggesting a cab company to drop it off and ensured safe delivery to the car and advised the driver not to eat it on the way. 5 Stars for customer service and the cake being amazing was the cherry on top. We enjoyed a very relaxed Saturday afternoon here. The restaurant is not busy until 12nn but some seats has been reserved. Recommend Full Scottish Breakfast which is served all-time, as well as the tea set which is perfect to share.

It is the best Patisserie Valerie which I visited in the UK and Scotland.Two floors, a corner building in one of the most beautiful streets in the new town. The staff is very kind and helpful, the cafe is very clean, the cakes and food are always fresh.

Along an avenue of touristy pubs, Patisserie Valerie offered us a more inviting bistro, sit-down service with great food, but at a high price. The salmon salads we had were great, but a bit pricey for what it was. The coffee was excellent, but we had coffee macaroons with our coffee that were 2 pounds each for a teeny tiny cookie. Pretty much a rip off.

Obviously renowned for their fabulous cakes but I come here regularly for the all day breakfast and I can tell you they have the best Eggs Benedict I have ever sampled and my friend that I took along agreed, (she opted for the Egg Florentine with Spinach.) I always ask for an extra slice of Broiche to mop up the egg yoke and hollandaise sauce – simply delicious.
