Reviews of Beigel Bake Brick Lane Bakery
J. G.
Probably the best place to get bagels. Opening hours are definitely a plus and prices are so affordable for London. I personally prefer the salmon cream cheese bagel to the salt beef but if you were to get them salt beef bagel I’d highly recommend you ask for less mustard (unless you LOVE mustard)
K. P.
Obviously I visited the place because I've heard so much about the salt beef bagel and it didn't disappoint me
I'm not a fan of mustard but decided to order it as I should (pickles and mustard) and the result was delicious
Needless to say that the prices are very good
Don't be scared of the long queue, it goes fast
Girlfriend tried the chicken bagel, not as great as the salt beef one.
Definitely going back
A. S.
The salt beef is honestly elite, the English mustard do be spicy though. The fact its open 24/7 for night workers is fantastic. Their cakes and pastries, I would recommend them as well tbh. To finish it off the prices are not unreasonable they're actually very good also. So overall get yourself a bagel with salt beef and a pickle
H. Y. W.
Beigel Bale is a spot serving Salt Beef Bagel with super reasonable price that’s recommended on tourist books. They open 24/7 and there is always a line by the entrance.
However, their bagel is different from what we have in New York or Montreal and it's really not our type. It's not bad and decent for a quick fix, especially the portion of beef inside was great to share. We think this is a place worth trying for local people but not special enough for tourists to detour.
P. C.
I'm so glad I accidentally discovered this super amazing Beigel place where even the Royal family has been to! YES, even Princ3 William and Kate have been to Beigel Bake.
This beigel bakery is based 4 mins walk from Shoreditch highstreet station, is open 24/7 and does absolutely amazing beigels with tons of exciting fillings and the best part is that the prices are shockingly reasonable for the quality you get.
They have vegeterian and halal options. I had a chicken and avocado beigel and I think it was divine.
The place seemed very famous as it was jam packed with loads of people with a huge queue however, nobody seemed to have to wait too long which was really good. The staff are very nice, friendly and quick to serve. I was given my beigel and brownie in less than a minute of ordering despite the long queue.
Definitely a must try!
林.
Highly recommended the salty beef beigel, and cheese cake.
Plain beigel very tasty for breakfast.
You can find a stand up table to eat inside.

Bagels don't disappoint!
Got the classic salt beef bagel. Still affordable, but apparently the price has gone up over a pound in recent years due to its popularity. Still a great deal for London though.
Mustard has the slightest of a kick to it, only noticed at the end. I'm not a pickle fan, but got this with pickles and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
It comes on a plain bagel (my favourite is probably a sesame).
I think the saltiness and flavor of the meat and extras overpowers the bagel so it's hard to speak to the bread itself. But they seemed to come out hot and freshly boiled, and had a nice brown and toast to them. Great vehicle for the fixtures and flavour.
The portioning was perfect, not as large as some reviewers would say - just perfect. Balance of heft - meat to pickles to bread to mustard was also done perfectly.
Great. I also wanted to grab a treat from the baked goods section as they were fairly cheap and looked good. The cheesecake was quite a disappointment. More of a cheesecake bar, but kind of hard, devoid of most cheese flavour, plain-ish. I am such a purveyor of the cheesecake so I still scarfed it down. But I'll say this was worse than most grocery store cheesecakes - so minus one star for that.
Alas, they are a bagel place. I'll be back for the cream cheese and lox, or a sweet bagel, or buy some plain ones for home! And I'll try a different baked good... maybe the bagel's sweeter cousin - the donut - next time. Although I hear Crosstown right next door is good for that.
J. W.
Tried so many times.
Never disappoint me.
I have to grab a bite every time I visit.
A two-horse race between them and the yellow bagel shop.
And I vote for them.
Their bagel is perfectly chewy and better.
R. T.
A very famous and iconic place on the map of London. Beigel Bake is worth visiting because they have the best beigel in London. Lots of versions. Everyone will find something for himself. Most famous for "Salt beef beigel" I highly recommend !!! In addition, the neighborhood of Brick Lane is another attraction.
L. 4.
I’ve been thinking about this bagel for well over a week… 🥯
There is NO finer place in London to be buying salt beef bagels from!
An East London institution!
H. L.
Great deal. Lots of items priced below £1!
Recommend doughnut, salmon & cream chess bagel and tuna & sweet corn bagel. Some cakes or fudge are just too sweet to fit my appetite
C. O.
Tasty salt beef bagel. Get it with mustard and pickled. Pickled could be more evenly cut so the bagel holds together better.
A. H.
The difference between the white one and the one next door are:
① This one established at 1974, much younger than the next door.
② This one sales kosher food.
③ This one has a selection of traditional Jewish dessert.
④ This one add gherkin to salt beef beigel is 20p.
⑤ This one's salt beef is chunkier and juicer.
S. K.
The famous salt beef beigel! Nothing really special in it but the taste is good😋 Have to get in line in the weekends though..
R. C.
Small queue when we arrived but served within minutes. We bought a smoked salmon & cream cheese beigel and a Nutella beigel and they were really tasty and not stingy with the fillings. Will definitely visit again.
A. B.
This is the most known beigel place in LDN and has been there for decades. The beigel are made as they were by ashkenazim jews populating East London. If you are used to different fancy recipes, you might well be disappointed here. There is no fancy stuff... A bagel, mustard, gherkin and thick slices of salt beef! For £5.80 you'll be happy!
S. O.
OMG 24hr 7days a week and always queueing out the door ....... and now I know why 😊 Super fast service although a bit abrupt (but wouldn't you be if you wanted to serve as many people as possible) but the best prices there is. Great value for money.
Watching them make the bagels in the back was intriguing to say the least, they are like lightening with them and hundreds and hundreds stacked up ready to bake 😳
I had Salmon and Cream Cheese Bagal while my better half had the Salted Beef Pickle and Mustard Sandwich ( way too much to eat by one person) but the were both delicious and definitely recommended 😋
Its in such a cool area too 😎

Mid September 2021 travel to East London for our love for food. Most search options recommend this food outlet in their "things to do in London" list. Was the experience worth the long arduous journey? Kind of.
We did see quite a few walking food tours making a pit stop at this bakery on a Thursday afternoon.
We ordered the Salt beef beigel(obviously!) and the Salmon cream cheese beigel.
Pickled cucumbers, mustard, salted beef, salmon, cream cheese and bagels.
Realised that simple ingredients assembled together can create such flavours!
We enjoyed the salmon beigel more as it seemed to have more substance and packed a punch. Don't go by our word. Try both.
The wow factor is the beigel. It's flavourful and chewy. One can never gobble them.
The biggest plus point, the bakery is open 24*7, so one can never go hungry in London.
H. M.
The biggest slab of beef you'll ever have in a takeaway. Fills you up and leaves you ready for sleep. I was a happy man eating the Salt Beef Beigel and it's open 24/7 so they are doing the world a fantastic service. Bagel was quick and tasty and amazing and easy to hold cause it was well built.
Got a dessert too and it was amazeballs.
The shop smells amazing from down the road.
Everybody outside is just stunned standing around talking about how great the Salt Beef Bagel was.
If you are near here go here.
Do it.
Do it.
S. E.
Salmon and cream cheese beigels are a must have when we visit!
Our bikes get so much compliments outside too :)
We're at 60 The Highway, Wapping, E1W 2BF
A. B.
I first came here in 1992 and it hasn't changed a bit. Good food and good prices. Seems to have become a tourist site now but food is still good. But..... today the server handled the food and the cash with the same gloves which is very off-putting!
J.
Actually preferred the pastries to the salt beef bagel with cheese and mayo. But all in good experience. Friendly staff with smiles and fast service.
R.
The salted beef bagel was amazing! The line was long but we didn’t have to wait too long.
J. A.
This is a great place to come for traditional beigels, they have the entire range salt beef, salmon, other baked goods and sweet buns. I love them, the price has gone up but they still have very large portions and if you got two to eat you would be so full it would hard to walk. Been coming here for the last 21 years. Enjoy. Please like if you enjoyed my short review. Thank you
B. D.
Took the trip across London just to visit to try the Salt Beef Bagel and it didn't not disappoint!! Met a lovely lady who owns a plant shop round the corner who recommended this over their neighbor, and she was so right. Absolutely delicious and so fun to try a new food and flavour combination. Definitely get the pickles! Will have to return to try some of their others
G. D.
Loved this place since i was a kid. First time off introducing my eldest to genuine salt beef and she was blown away. Must remember a bib next time as i ended up with mustard everywhere but it was all worth it!
D. H.
While in the area, we popped in for three bagels what a treat and tasty snack. Between us, we had the salt beef with gherkin and mustard and cream cheese bagels. Would definitely recommend and will re-visit if and when we’re back in the area.
O. H.
The salt beef beigels here are unbelievable. So tasty, melt in your mouth, huge portion of filling! Made fresh in front of you and available around the clock. Amazing food.
T. A.
This was by far the best bagel I have ever eaten. It's crazy how such simple ingredients can go a long way! We tried the salt beef bagel and the portion is SO generous! It was chunky and full of flavour. We took some at night on our way home to have for breakfast the next day and it was still so soft and fresh. This place is the best!!
K. H.
Well worth the visit. I had a tradition salt beef beigel with Pickles and mustard, was lovely, and not badly priced. My husband didn't initially like the look of it, but ended up stealing it off me and scoffing half if mine. He loved it too! Loads of beef too!
M. R.
This is definitely the place to try for a Salt Beef experoence. Always popular 24/7. Very good value for money. They are also a bakery providing wonderful bread, rolls and pastries.
R. B.
Absolutely worth a queue! Staff were friendly and helpful. Tried their beef this time and hoping for salmon next time. It would be even better if the begger wasn’t standing right next to the entrance.
O. M.
We were attracted by a huge queue in the middle of the day, and decided to get a bagel with salted beef. The queue moves fast, and the bagel was very good.
I. W.
Got the salt beef beigel in a few minutes (only one in line at 3PM on a Wednesday). The lady was nice and pretty much knew what I was going to order before I could finish saying it (Cash only!). The salt beef bagel wasn’t quite as exciting in the mouth as I expected but I may revisit it at another point if in the area. The beef was super moist but I personally would have enjoyed more bite and tanginess from more mustard and pickles. Walked to a nearby park to enjoy. Will try and request that next time and report back if that changes my opinion.
R. W.
Iconic place in London for a quick and tasty bagel at any time of night. Salt beef with mustard and pickles is most popular but my personal favourite is smoked salmon with cream cheese
D. F.
Decided to queue for one of the famous salt beef bagels and it was delicious!! Queue moved at lightening speed so don’t be deterred.
Only concern was the ladies serving food without hairnets, touching their hair and then people’s food was really disgusting. Thankfully the lady who made my bagel was bald headed 😂 I think they should at least ask staff to pull hair back but hey it’s Brick Lane.
P. B.
This is a great place to get some nice, cheap bagels. They are open super early and so perfect for an early breakfast. I got their egg and cheese bagel. It would be nice if they had some vegan options. But other than that - this is one of the best places to get a bagel especially in terms of pricing.
A. V.
Frequented for 12 years, 24 hour Beigel Shop that doesn’t disappoint. Salmon cream cheese bagel is my favourite, I usually get two of these to go. But the beef bagel looks so lovely and blows mind. I will visit again soon!
F. G.
The shop is known for its bagel and I have not had the chance to come here. Ordered Nutella and salt beef bagel. The salt beef was cooked perfectly, it was hot and tender and loved the taste of it. The bagel goes well with the hot beef, mustard and pickle. There are lots of other pastries in the shop which I would come and try again in future.
L. J.
Always a queue here. It moves along very swiftly. We always have the salmon and cream cheese bagel. Its loaded. Also had almond croissant and pain au chocolat. They are huge. Excellent value for money. Its a must place to check out when you're in the area.
L. W.
amazing. i’m american but i live in dublin and have sorely missed bagels (good ones at least) and beigel bake filled a hole in my heart. i got to london at 22:00 and as soon as i checked into my hostel i took a 30 minute bus ride to beigel bake because i have been craving this bagel since i learned of it a couple weeks ago. it was so worth it. i loved it sober, it must be heavenly drunk — and they’re open 24/7 !! their chocolate chip cookie is also ridiculously good. they accept card which was very convenient because i forgot that youse are too good for the euro and i didn’t have any pounds on me. and the employees were very kind and efficient!
long story short: fantastic bagel, would go again (and probably will)
Z. F.
Feels like you are going back in time when you walk into this place. It is bagels at their best. Soft, warm, chewy and delicious. The salt beef bagel was intense and amazing and so many things all at the same time. The smoked salmon and cream cheese was also really good. Super authentic bagel shop. Open 24/7 is also seriously impressive!
S. Y.
Salt beef beigel with mustard and gherkins is the best thing from here, also just the beigels in general are cheaper than from the supermarket. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, excellent for a snack at 3am or 6am when the choice is limited.
A.
After seeing this place recommended, thought we would go there for some bagels on our trip to London. My cream cheese and salmon bagel had little filling in it, and the bagel bread was very chewy and hard to eat. However, my girlfriend had a salt beef bagel which had lots of filling and tasted very good. Can't complain too much as they were generously priced. Felt a bit uncomfortable being served by one of the staff as she made it feel quite rushed and came off unintentionally rude.
S. B.
We done a 74 mile round trip, starting at 4am.. yep....
Loved it, told all my friends.
Lady in shop was brilliant...
5 stars ?...how about 50...thanks
J. H.
Always an amazing bagel from here. Haven't had a salt beef bagel in far too long and it was amazing being able to treat myself to one yesterday. Thank you! Just as good as it has been over the last several years! 😍
M. C.
Love it every time I go here. Prices are still fair and the food is simply incredible! The bagels are heavenly soft - highly recommend the salt beef bagel and the salmon and cream cheese one
C. L.
Great salt beef bagel. Very good quality and reasonable price. Also bought a bag of beigels to take home. My favourite bagel place!
T. D.
This is probably the best salt beef ever.
I've been coming to brick Lane since 1967, great atmosphere, good food and drinks, tea and coffee plain, inexpensive and satisfying. Great selection on cakes, pastries smoked Salman and cream cheese.
H. S.
This is no-contest the best beigel shop in London. Always long queue's and rushed staff, but the food always makes it worth it! Highly recommend the Salt Beef beigel.
M. S.
They get the credit of serving 24 hrs, but their food is average and the filling is not as the pics at all.
I got a dash of tuna and most of the bagel is mayo, same as cream cheese and salmon!
Add to it, owners are not friendly kinda rude! She served a group after me and I took it, but once I started giving my order she screamed saying”can’t you see I am in a middle of something here” I don’t know what is that but definitely this is not a place that I will be encouraged to go to again.
J. a.
Beigel Bake in Dalston is one of the best and most famous bagle 🥯 bakeries in London and the UK, the beigel's/bagles 🥯 are truly awesome 🙌🏽 yes I have tasted them and can high five to their awesome taste 😋 you can always count on them to give you good food 🍽️ wishing you yummy bagles / beigels beautiful people 😘
R. P.
Delicious salted beef! In the bagel or in the sandwich, go for it! Don't get scarred with the queue outside, it goes quick.
s. l.
Great bagel, had many salt beef bagels from here. Probably the cheapest breakfast in London, an absolute bargain but great quality
N. R.
Run down looking place out of the Early 1980s . Crude but friendly ( mostly good humoured & jokey - jokes are weird though ) . One boasted she'd been working night shift for 37 years ! Always running out of New green cucumbers so had to go with the Picked ones in my Salt beef bagel - served in a paper bag . Very good value for money . Plain Bagels were 30p each (Nov 2021) !!! Always eat there when going past , once or twice a year ! Two doors down is the original shop - a bit cheaper - the same fair from there .
V. A.
Waw !! I've just tried today the breakfast bagels and it's so tasty and so yummy. The bagels is so fresh and the cappuccino is exactly the way I like ! I high recommend this place !
A. A.
I strongly recommend for people who wants quick bite for late night it’s open 24/7 in London.
Cheese cake,Cookies,Brownies not to forget classic cheese bagels basic but best.
Cheers !!!! Thanks
P. M.
I've been going to this shop due beigals since I was a baby and my dad was going years and years before that. The bagels are incredible every time, prices are amazing and the staff are lovely. A long que goes super fast. I come in before I go back to my dad's and being him a dozen every time, he's always very grateful ❤️
A. K.
Salt beef bagel was on point! Don’t forget to grab a napkin or 10 because they put so much salt beef on there it’s slightly tricky to manage without getting mustard on your face. I also got a dozen for home, sliced and froze them to enjoy toasted later.
J. B.
Being in my hometown for the weekend and being quite fond of bagels I found myself driving past the new Brick Lane Bagel shop. I decided to check the reviews on Google and found a one star review from a former school friend deconstructing the greasy and unpalatable schitznel bagel awarding it a solitary one star. Red rag to a bull I'm afraid. It may be that my fellow reviewer simply had a bad day or a particularly oily chicken but I find myself fervently disagreeing with the review and feel a need to right a mischaracterisation of the humble schitznel. In mine I found neither grease nor unpalatablity. I will say to comment on a plain bagel being plain is a waste of one's word limit. A pleasant combination of lettuce, mayo, Swiss cheese and flattened breaded chicken. Not going the full five stars and I think a little seasoning or a bit of lemon in the mayo would cut through what is essentially fatty carbs.
M. B.
Their plain beigel is really good.
Beef beigel 7/10
Salmon cream cheese 6/10
Cheesecake 1/10
2 beigels w toppings + 2 plain + 2 cheesecake was 18. Cheap
D. D.
Salt beef bagel is consistently delicious after many years. The service is very fast and efficient, perhaps not the most polite.
n. p.
As well as curries, the salt beef bagel is a famous treat at Brick Lane.
There are two competing with each other and right next to each other.
I go to both all the time but have not really posted about them.
This tine I went to Beigel Bake for a salt beef bagel and the lady was really nice to slice it for us.
The salt beef bagel was consistently good as before with meaty beef in the middle balanced by the mustard.
It is hard to say which one is better I always go to both every now and then.
J. H.
I live in SW London so don't venture over to Brick Lane that often and because of Covid it's been 3 years since I have got my Salt Beef Beigel fix.
Still as good as I remember and it's great to still see it busy, I will not leave it so long next time.
Make sure you get the pickles and mustard 👍
M. P.
An iconic place and worth visiting for a quick fix. Huge portion of salt beef, can't be compared to New York style bagels, but lives to the London expectations
P. K.
The must Beigel shop visit in London. Try the Salt Beef Bagel and you will not be disappointed! The meat is tender. Absolutely delicious. Definitely get the pickles!
G. H.
Salt beef bagels sent straight from heaven made in the shop from scratch so they are super fresh. The staff alway have their hands full serving costumers as the shop is always busy what is expected from the best bagel shop in town
Best bagels in London I never eat anywhere better.
c. c.
I like the cheese cake, the price is so reasonable with high quality , £1.1 with each one. No wonder why there is such a long queue outside.
N. W.
There are very few things as beautiful as a Beigel Bake salt beef Beigel with mustard and pickles. As I type this I'm really struggling to think of anything as good. That soft, savoury, melt-in-mouth quality of the salt beef, paired with the tangy warmth of the mustard, crisp vinegary sweetness of the pickle and pleasing chew of the Beigel. It's the stuff of dreams, it's pure alchemy, and it's affordable.
K. L.
Most amazing bagels in London. Especially thd smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels. The salt beef bagel with mustard and pickle was delicious and food on another level. The fresh bread was also delicious. All extremely reasonably priced and so fresh and soft.
L. K.
I visited this place a couple of times. And every time there was a queue, however it moved really fast and I spent nearly 5 minutes to get my beigel. The beigels are very tasty with really good beef! Strongly recommend to visit!
C. G.
Best bagel place, so rustic and authentic
A. W.
Delicious! Got both the salmon and the beef bagel! Great value for money
B. K. (.
Small beigel and more bakery. Make in here "normal" sized 1 kg breads, donuts, pastries. Very fast service, I give order and we finish everything less then 30 seconds. The beigels is very simple, but very good, tasty and rich in stuffed things.
A. X.
Best salt beef bagel in town and they’re open 24h!!
o. p.
Very tasty authentic beigels.
We had a smoked salmon and cream cheese and a salt beef with mustard and pickles.
There is always a bit of a queue (very well managed by the staff ) but the wait is totally worthwhile 👌🏼
E. D.
I went for the Salt Beef sandwich with mustard and gherkins on Rye Bread. Pretty good value and you get a lot of meat.
H. A.
One of the oldest and best bakers... I've never seen this shop quiet... Its always busy.. Which means they always producing fresh bread, fresh cakes etc..
Keep up the good job guys!
R. B.
Simply the best bagels in London and mega mega good value. Customer service is gloriously abrupt but in a strangely charming way. Every time I'm there I load up on bagels and freeze them, works a charm.
M. G.
Great famous salted beef bagel in fact lives up to its legend. Service isn't too polite true, but it's a manufactory. I feel like either good service or short wait and I prefer the latter.
Go and get it while exploring Brick Lane!
A. M.
The best bagels in the UK.
I have been coming to Beigel Bake for over 20 years now and their food and service hasn't changed - and that's a good thing! I no longer live close but I would still make the trip.
You haven't experienced a good bagel until you eat one from here
J. K.
This is THE ONLY place in whole London I would ever go to for salt beef bagel. It's so good I have met man in the que who came with his wife just to get a bagle and he lives in Chingford. They taste amazing and you will always get decent portion. They also have great apple strudel and other bakery stuff. MUST try at least once.
S. V.
Their bagels are so good I think it’s the best I’ve ever tasted. It’s so chewy and the beef was also very good
B. M.
Always the best place to eat. Excellent, fresh bread, and soft salt beef.
E. S.
My favorite bagels in London! Typically get salt beef or peanut butter bagel and always good. Also try the pastries as the apple turnover is amazing. Eccles cake is also good although this last time it didn't seem to have the normal amount of filling and tasted a little stale. Otherwise as good as ever.
J. G.
Open 24hrs, this beigel shop is a staple of London food culture. Make sure to stop in and grab the salt beef which is perfectly paired with spicy mustard and sweet pickles. The cream cheese and smoked salmon is also excellent. Finish your carb load with a 50p incredible jelly filled doughnut. (Make sure to bring cash as this place is cash only)
S. P.
The salt beef burger tastes really good but the reason why I gave this place an average rating is because after all those times I have been going there it was only that one time were they haven't been rude to me...which means they are very rude most of the time.
s. q.
Compared this and beigel shop at the same time today.
The beigels at beigel shop are softer and and the meat is more tender, it's almost shredded but the flavour isn't as good.
I prefer more of a chew to the outside of my bread and more bite to the to meat. This one you get hefty chunks. so this one is the winner for me
N. R. R.
The beef baguel was great.
Customer service terrible. Female staff eating while serving and not paying attention in what I was ordering for a group of 12 people. Two females were not friendly and service from them was poor, really poor. I will not return.
S. B.
Great Bagel can't complain would not recommend the chicken Bagel it was dry and plain bland like bland bland! But the original cream cheese Bagel was great!
F. E. D.
Had to try the salt beef beigel and it didn't disappoint...it was delicious...the dougnuts were also good ...the only downside is that it gets too overcrowded
M. T.
I had a salted beef beigel & an apple slice, with a generous cup of coffee. It was so good that I had to return the same morning for some to take home to my family.
The lady at the counter was great, a breathe of fresh air. I will be back :)))
A. P.
Well what can I say 🤷 after 30 years from the first time my wife and I visited this place it has changed staff but the attitude and welcoming you get from the staff and the quality of the food/coffee/tea is still there 😉 I've always loved this 24/7 beigel shop in the heart of the East end my boxing gym the Repton bc is just 10 minutes walk i have brought lots of my friends here my favorite is the salted beef beigel . you have no need to rush to get there supplements and stock pile always there to feed everyone it's never empty ther's always people from late night party or working nights or early shift to have a friendly chat with and also asking about why this shop is so special and full of history we love it love it love it 😀 ❤
J. D.
Used the app for delivery, I think it needs a little more tweaking, but customer service was great and we sorted the issue I had. Food is top notch as always. It’s awesome that they expanded the delivery zone and I can now get my favourite bagels in Croydon! 👍

Honestly, one of my favourite place in London despite being terrible little dive bakery with only one food item I enjoy. Why? Beigel Bake is pure East London heritage, outrageously authentic in a sea of gentrification, and stubbornly serving as a cultural anchor in the face of who-knows-how-much economic pressure. Right on Brick Lane, perhaps the coolest spot in East London, to boot. Hell, Guy Ritchie could make a film about Beigel Bake and it'd work. Plus, the Salt Beef Beigel is an experience ever meat eater must try.
I can't believe I don't have a review up already! From what I understand, this famous joint hasn't really improved ingredients, modernized recipes, nor even increased prices in fifty years. For all it's fame and history, Beigel Bake could be selling 15 quid kombucha-seeded brioche breakfast baps... but they refuse to and I love them for it. Chewy bagels for 50p. Cases of pastries that are not mouth-watering for under a pound, and loaves of non-artisanal, gluten-loaded, old-fashioned bread at outrageously low prices. Hell, they were only forced to start accepting card payments towards the end of lockdown, otherwise it'd still be the only cash joint around. From what I gather, some of the staff have been around for decades too, and I think they deserve little blue circle plaques outside their homes for it.
Flickering neon lights and old signs. How do they stay in business? They way they always did, I think: by running cheaply, 24-hours a day, and now instead of serving poor dock workers returning home they serve drunks and tourists. Customers often line up around the corner yet proceed with incredible speed through the queue? Why? Because if you don't know what the hell you want and have cash in hand by the time the bakery ladies ask 'What you want?' then get you to the back of the line again and ponder why you're bad at being prepared in life.
What choice? There is one choice to make: Do you want spicy mustard and a gherkin pickle on you massive helping of salt beef (think pastrami) in your white bagel? Sober or drunk, an incredible, messy helping of salt beef bagel at Beigel Bake is what any non-vegetarian needs to understand the soul of the neighbourhood, I'd attest.
Beigel Bake, thank you for holding on to your ways and keeping your staff happy. I hope you never modernize.
B. I.
Must visit when in Shoreditch and Liverpool Street area.
Salt beef. smoked salmon and pastries galore
B. H.
Good bagels although the prices seem to increase way above inflation. Service is terrible but I guess that's not why you go there. Over the years I'm less and less inclined to visit.
G. G.
Salt beef beigel with pickles and mustard. First time I've tried. Went on a recommendation. Definitely going back.
J. C.
Great bakery in Brick Lane. Salt beef beigels/bagels are fantastic. As with any bakery they do a plethora of baked goods which are really tasty. As they have a similar shop a few doors down it keeps their prices and quality in check. If you have never had a salt beef beigel, then I would suggest you give it a try.
C. M.
Absolutely amazing salt beef bagels. Melt in your mouth soft! One star off for the incredibly rude older woman with black hair who spoke quite sternly to customers, as well as rolling her eyes for no good reason.
J. J.
Stunning salt beef beigels
r. c.
I love coming here and smirking at the crazy queues next door (what's that all about? am I missing something?) Recent visit I had salmon bagel and an eccles cake (a proper one!) One suggestion though: have some avocado to go with the salmon - I'd go every day then !!
C. N.
Brick Lane once a rough part of East London is now a picturesque narrow street full of restaurants take-aways and little market stalls. I first went to this place in 2002 when I lived in Wapping. It was superb then and is now. The bagels and salt beef are made on site. The bagel is soft and creamy in texture whilt the salt beef is full of flavour and just melts in your mouth. There can be long queues but they move very quickly. This is one of the places that has stayed true to its roots not simply pandering to the tourists. Definitely give it a try.
R. A.
I had the salted beef sandwich with mustard sauce. It was really good the meat was seasoned just right and had the right amount of firmness, the bread was nice and soft....try it
J. L.
Truly authentic experience, you can tell this place has been here for ages! Quick but friendly customer service, extremely reasonable prices & most of all beautiful beigels freshly baked. A must try if in & around Brick Lane!
B.
Always a classic. Price has gone up a bit in the last few years, but it's still a steal. Go for the salt beef sandwich on rye if you want a huge heaping of meat. It's 50p more than the bagel but so worth it. And remember to always add pickle.
S. W.
Great Bagel place. Have been going there for years. Great thing about the place it stays open to the early hours of the morning.
Roast chicken bagel with salad mustard and mayo, sausage bagel, carrot cake and a coffee. £6.70.
Bargain. Plus great fast service.
Highly recommended.
T. T. B.
I love Beigel Bake, I've been coming here for years because you cannot beat the value for money, and the taste is to die for. The salt beef is so soft it melts in your mouth, the pickles are crunchy and fresh, and the mustard has a real kick! The staff are always lovely, at every hour of the day or night! I cannot recommend this place highly enough, I recently found out my dad used to come here when he was a chauffeur back in the 80's! There aren't many businesses that can maintain a reputation like this for over 40 years!
R.
They always have fresh, tasty & reasonable options. I like their chunky bagle sandwich‼︎ :))
C. C.
been wanting to come here for the longest time and it definitely did not disappoint! the beef was so tender and so yummy. added gherkins with mustard. Also tried the apple strudel - good, but probably best straight out of the oven. Quick and efficient service - only a couple minutes wait! Great meal for just £4.90.
N. F.
Best salt beef I have ever had! Fresh ingredients and fast service. Worth the wait. If you go on a Monday or Tuesday there is no queue :)
S. G.
Best beigel in town I been going there since I was 5 years old and it taste like first time
K. C.
Came back for few times! Really delicious and very cheap too😋 highlight for the salted beef beigel with mustard and pickle😊
S. R.
Tastiest #bagels ever!!!! Very loyal customers we are and we really enjoying them always. Also the staff kindly offered many times to my little girls lovely muffins❤️👌🏻
I. C.
It was lovely to be in the famous Brick Lane again, great atmosphere in that street and of course the Beigel bake is awesome, very busy but well organised so no long waiting to be served. I had the traditional smoked salmon and cream cheese Beigel and it was generously filled with the salmon and cheese. Very filling and very tasty. 🌟
K. I. (.
We especially came here for the bagels and they did not disappoint. We had the salt beef bagel and it was so good! Porton was huge! Definitely coming back again.
S. L.
Quick and friendly service. Great beigel, super tasty. I'll be heading back to try some of the other goodies on offer.
J. M.
Categorically the best salt beef bagel you can get in London. Also the cheesecake is top tier. Worth the queue every time!
m.
The Beigel Shop is actually serves quite good Bagels. Only ever ordered the Creamed cheese with egg bagel sandwich and some of the desserts. All perfect for snacks. Nothing here is expensive, in fact actually good value for money. Sadly, the shop is unfairly compared to it's more illustrious competitor 2 doors down. It's just as good.
M. H.
Love the salt beef with mustard and pickle, it melts in your mouth! Maybe the pickle was a bit too big for me, and the only little annoying thing is that they only take cash... but if you’re used to carrying cash on you, you definitely need to try those salt beef beigel!
W. X.
Great spot a bit of queue, but worth the wait. The queue goes quickly. Beigels are fresh and the food is a large portion of meat.
G. S.
It's only the best beigel shop anywhere, always open and always serving there famous salt beef. No messing No fussing go, place your order and you out, knowing you have a great peice of eastend.
S. B.
Don't have words for their salt beef bagel! Please try
J. C.
THE BEST!!!!!!…
Please try their cheese cake as well, omg wonderful
A. B.
If there was a 6th star, I would give it to this place, yet I dither to give it it's 5th. Firstly, if you want one of those true to grey, dryly stoic and yet once in a lifetime experiences that London offers, you have to have to haaaaave to come here and have the salt beef bagels. Anything else that precedes or follows that bite of heaven is your own fate.
The ladies across the counter are dry, curt and they will slap your bagel up and hand it to you in a manner as cold and damp as a wet evening in London.
Yet, it's all on you, to choose to overlook this, bunch your shoulders up and bite into a sandwich experience that makes people trek mile up a visibly packed, serpentine queue of salivating, foaming gluttonous melee of people.
Eat here, feel belittled, and then go back once again... hopefully it will get better soon..
The bagels are legendary and absolutely a must have London experience. The rest of the stuff is great too, but it's the Salt beef that steals the thunder ⚡!
E. C.
A very interesting place. Food is good, can't say it isn't. Had the (obvious) salted beef bagel, as well as the salmon and cream cheese one. Both very tasty. Probably a tiny bit smaller in real life than you'd expect them from pics and videos, but they feel you up for sure. However, while there's nothing wrong with them, the reality is they're simply nothing special. It's definitely good, but the reputation is bigger than the actual taste. I probably enjoyed more the salmon & cream cheese one, than the beef, despite it being the one which most people go for.
Very interesting how fast paced it is, and the bagels are fresh and tasty, they're baked there. Props also for being open 24h, that's pretty remarkable. Also in terms of filling they're definitely generous with the meat, which I thought was great.
Cool experience for sure, might even go there again if I'm in the area and I can show it to people. But there's nothing to give it full 5 stars
S. B.
Freshest bagels you will ever try. Salt beef bagel insanely good- could have eaten 3. Simply the best, mit mazal !
a. a.
Of course you must try this!!!! The best salted beef bagel in London. Don’t skip out on the pickles or the mustard. You won’t regret this, hands down.
A. U.
Good selection of takeaway food. Always good Beigels. Good service and friendly staff.
G. C.
My favourite place to pick uo a Beigel in London! Defintely great value for money and super tasty!
M. W.
Good generous portion for the salt beef bagel (£4.70) busy store, although one of female staff members was a bit rude.
江.
The beef is magical. So simple yet so delicious.
J. K.
Hyped place. Good taste! I would not come here only to get a beigel, but if you around the corner it's one of the best choices for quick bite!
K. S.
This is our go to pleasure,I'm south of the water, and travel here just to get a Salt Beef Bagel,no one does them like they do,if your ever in the area make sure you check this place out, always busy but you get served really quick the staff are lovely to.
L. C.
best salt beef bagels in town! all through the pandemic the place has never closed, keeping our hungry bellies fed and happy
C. T.
What can I say its the best beigel shop in Brick Lane.
S. H.
Historic bakery - at the junction of Brick Lane and Bethnal Green Road - beloved by Night Owls - the only problem? Is it bay-gull or buy-gull? I'm with the first, my friend is in the second camp. Either way, we love 'em.
S. H.
Best salt beef beigals in london and great value for money. Salmon and cream cheese beigal also great and at £2.40 it's a bargain! Definitely one to visit if your in the Brick lane area
J. H.
Oh dear I've been coming here since 1987 and have always been nothing but gushing about the quality of the produce. But the last two days, I ve bought 1 dozen beigals, only to find that when I got home they are very dark in colour - burnt in fact. It seems as if you are wrapping up the second rate stock to sold as the dozens and half dozens and the good ones to be sold as singles. Rather sneaky!
K. B.
Enjoy beigel from there always. But the woman who was serving was not friendly at all. She was almost throwing beigel towards me - but funny thing was she wasn't doing that to some other customers there. Thought she was a kinda racist.
P. B.
What an amazing place! The bagel taste amazing and are really cheap. Genuinely worth a visit - really tasty and filling!
S.
Very tasty salt beef bagel yet very rude staff.
R. M.
Lovely bagels but portion size has gone down over the past year. They give less salt beef in their bagels.
C. L.
This place is awesome on so many levels. The bagels are really nicely baked and have a lovely subtle flavour. The herring filling had a perfect sour taste. The queue looked incredibly long but the efficiency and decade-long experience of the place ended up making it a short wait. No wonder it’s a known Brick Lane institution.
l. S.
After over 20 years coming here the taste of the salt beef and freshness of the Bagel has not changed. Just did not like the amount of rubbish by the front door
A. H.
Not been to this place in about 15yrs now that I live in Derbyshire, still taste the same.
A. A.
If you like bagels and beef cooked in salted water for hours (very tender meat), you'll love it.
NOTE: bring cash as credit cards are not accepted!
B. W.
Delicious bagel. Not cheap but well worth it. Staff were fine, but none were wearing their PPE when we went in (most had their masks around their necks). Not great given they are breathing over food and in close contact with each other...
P. S.
Fantastic authentic bagel bakery with great tasting bagels and cakes etc.
Well worth a visit anytime you're in London!
M. W.
Wonderful Freshly Baked Beigels and other Jewish Breads, Rolls, Cakes and a Plethora of fillings and beverages. The staff are very cheerful, polite and courteous. I will continue to return as often as possible.
S. B.
We had the salt beef-filled bagel and the soup, it was absolutely delicious! It's a must, definitely! I appreciate also the family type business.
H. D.
Love this place. My choice is the salt beef.
Grab a bite, take half a dozen beigels to go with a cup of cream cheese. Happy days.
Highly recommended.
Make an effort to visit.
T. M.
Worth the hype! Got a smoked salmon bagel and the cheesecake. Was happy with my purchase and the price was great too.
T.
Great salt beef bagel. Must try one if you're in the Brick Lane area.
J. L.
I was jet lagged from the USA and woke up starving at 4am and this was the only place open. The salted beef bagel with spicy mustard rocked my world. I can’t wait to go back again!!!
M. C.
Absolute love this place have used it for over 20 years and still as beautiful as it is now than it was 20 years ago highly recommend
R. C.
Fantastic salt beef bagel (probably the best in London). Always fast service, even with the huge queue. Massive portions, lovely chewy bagel, and great price
N. M.
Love this place inexpensive Beigals and desserts, open 24h too
G. P.
I only go for one thing and that is the salt beef bagel. You get generous portion of delicious salt beef at a great price. It is a destination sandwich shop as I live in south London and I go out of my way to get here!
P. O.
Best bagels ever! Don't forget to taste the salty beef one 😍
A. K.
WOW!! So good salted beef bagel, the best one I have had so far
D.
My favorite spot in London (Shoreditch)
The best beigel in the whole Lonodn.
My suggestions:
- smoked meat with pickles and mustard
- cream cheese beigel
N. D.
Best place to buy biegels ever. It's become a Christmas Eve tradition for us. Buying biegels by the sackload and the treating ourselves to a hot salt beef Biegel with slabs of beef like kerbstones. Even my teenage kids get up at the crack of dawn to come along. Finished off with Jewish cheesecake with a cup of tea indoors. The best.
A. S.
Best salted beef beigel. The portion is generous and worth the queue.
A. P.
Finest Salt Beef bagel I have ever had anywhere. Reason why they have been here for so many years. Loads of filling with beef, goes so well with mustard and pickle, and I don't normally like pickles. We come here every time we are in the area. For the price they charge, we'll worth it!
Z. M.
Amazing beigels, have been coming here for yrs. Beigels prepared instore and prepared. Very popular spot on nights out.
J. L.
You can’t go wrong with the salt beef beigel. But to be honest, Beigel Bake next door is better. That’s why the line here is often shorter.
J.
It's not fancy and always busy. But it is this type of down-to-the-earth vibe that is unique to this place.
Plain bagels were warm and soft. They became more chewy when cooling down. But the filled bagels were prepared and became cold when served.
I. U.
Salt beef bagel is amazing. Strudel is another thing i go there! Delicious!
T. S.
This place lives up to it’s reputation! Amazing pastries at jaw-dropping prices. The salted beef bagel is astounding. The cheese cake is so nice. I could go on and on. Make sure you visit. But beware it is cash only and you might have to queue😉
l. j.
Croissants as long as your forearm. Chomp on one of these baadboys with a veg based soup on a dank winters eve. Briefly the spirit levitates then pow , warp speed to the stars and beyond.
C. G.
According to others, not quite New York style, but still a nice chewiness, softness, sweetness and brownness that make them delicious.
B. C. S.
Busy but the long queue moved quickly. The salt beef with mustard and a pickle was very tasty.
J. J.
Good value for money, the salted beef is a lot compare to the begel. Place is very busy.
J. O.
Very unhappy customer on this occasion. Customer service was unfortunately very poor. Missed part of my order despite paying for it. Had to repeat myself more than twice. Very disappointed ☹️☹️
H. T.
THE bagel place to go to in London! Salt beef,l and the salmon and creme cheese bagels are the must have!
Fast, no BS service and amazing value for taste, size and quality!
I. R.
The most typical bagel shop in London and certainly also the best one.
Salt beef with mustard is clearly the all times classic but the brownie and other things are equally awesome!
24h Open for you to try it at any time you want!!
M. B.
Always fast, always tasty, always a must visit!
Get the salt beef bagel and a half dozen to take home with you.
A. M.
Stayed in Brick Lane overnight and just had to have a bagel in the morning. Really didn't have to wait until morning as this place has been serving bagels 24 hours for years. Friendly staff, a great selection I need to come to this part of London more often. Thank you the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel was delicious
T. V. D.
Stalwart on Brick Lane. Shame they had to increase the salt beef beige price to £5.80 !!!!
Apple strudel is worth the visit alone.
X.
Salted beef bagel.
Nice and firm bagel, savoury salted beef, crispy and fresh pickle and the mustard is just right.
D. L.
Beautiful bagels/beigels! Salted beef is just amazing.
c.
amazing bagel love how they r rude to u it adds to the ambience and vibe i luv this place its gr8 and cheap and lovely for my walks around lundundundun
K. N.
Holy Mother of pearl this place is fantastic. Salted beef beigel with horseradish mustard, finished in 2 minutes, enough said. And damn, with a crisp pickle.
C. C. T.
The salted beef bagel is yummy but i was very thristy after ate it.
S. N.
Unmatched. Cheap, delicious, satisfying salt beef bagels. Don't expect customer service just expect a yummy treat.
m. g.
Worth a visit & revisit!
Super tender salted beef & soft bagels.
L. S. (.
Good salt beef beigel, fast service, a bit crowded, but I would eat here again.
B. H.
I renember coming here in the early 90s when a good ole plain bagel was 5p. Same fresh delcious bagel being sold today as it was 30+ years ago! Keep on going Beigel Bake you are a most loved London Institution.
A. D.
I only ever get the salmon and cream cheese bagel and it’s lovely. Not toasted but the bagel is so fresh and delightful it doesn’t matter. Nice amount of filling, good prices - although they only accept cash which I’m not sure how to feel about
N. S.
Only when you crave a salt beef bagle and you're willing to stand in que, rain or shine... :) Do it at least once.. one hard to bite bagel and salty beef, sharp commercial mustard and a pickle, and it's all very delicious!
K. A.
A local institution - people travel just to come here, and well worth the queuing to get in. The salt beef bagels are ridiculously large - and for £4.90, very good value. It's all very simple. Cash only which can be a bit irritating, but you'll have some change to give the polite homeless guy outside. If you're in the area and need something to eat, you wont regret dropping in
S. P.
Food good and plentiful for what you pay too!!
A. M.
I love this so much especially the ham. This one bagel and you would feel full. This is a to go list in east end. Very recommended and would love to try its other food next time. Bring your friend to this 24 hour place for very amazing bagel. Cheers
G. G.
Best beigel in town!! Salt beef.. yummyyy!!!
B. B.
Great beigel. Relatively unfriendly as everyone says - but who cares? It's good food at a good price, and quick!
Z. Y.
This is a well established shop in Brick Lane that has been around for such a long time. For me, this is my favourite bagel sandwich shop in this area.
The bagel itself is really delicious - a firm, chewy bite which never overstays it's welcome with a subtle sweetness which always comes across with their fillings.
From what I've tried, there is a consistent generosity with each of their fillings which always ends up bringing satisfaction.
No matter how rough the look or the preparation of the sandwich is, there is always more than enough filling to allow a great sensation with each bite.
My last tasting was the smoked salmon with cream cheese. It not have any lemon or black pepper but it did not need it at all.
The thick serving of creme cheese (especially when biting into the inner edge) becomes enveloped with plenty of smoked salmon which is supported well by the bagel and wasn't toasted to have a hard edge. You start to chew and notice that the bagel doesn't overstep the filling. Having the spotlight was never the bagel's goal, it only wishes to be the vessel to present your chosen filling desires.
It was truly delicious. Each and every bite was bliss with a deep satisfaction at the end.
The best part of this experience was realising that this is still an affordable price and for an equivalent at any supermarket is simply a complete joke.
If you're in the area, say hello, take a chance and then understand why it's been with us for so long.
j. E.
Why did my beigel taste sooo good.
Staff move quickly and provide an efficient service. Really enjoyable beigel.
R. A.
One of the best fresh bagel shops in the east end of London. Open 24 Hours you can get the finest salman and cream cheese bagel along with other delicious bakeries such as fresh cakes and biscuits. Customer service is a little poor.
S. B.
Wow, the salt beef was a slap in the face! An overdose of authenticity, this place really mastered the art of bagels and tasty smoked meat. This is a must visit, cannot miss this if you are around brick lane!
R. C.
Heard about the Rainbow Baigels and wasn't disappointed... Very reasonably priced for London too!!!
D.
Every time it's 3am in East London, straight after the bar you have to come here, it's heaven on earth!
C. Y.
Super cheap and delicious! I had salty beef beigel and cheesecake. Hardly believe you could get something nice with this cheap price.
J. C.
This is what you get when you combine the most delicious salt beef with the freshest, homemade beigal. All this can be yours for £4.50!
An absolute must visit.
M. C.
Legendary place. No better way to end a night than a salt beef Beigel with a enough mustard to clear nose for a week
C. L.
The best bagel shop, simple and delicious.
H. G.
The salmon bagels are the best but they also do good pastries of all sorts.
D. L.
I know this is controversial... But I think the Beigel Shop is better than Beigel Bake-- the flavour of the salt beef is a bit more seasoned and gherkins come with (unlike Beigel Bake where you need to buy them separately). Service is also a bit nicer here. Bagels have generous servings of salt beef on them and the bagel isn't too chewy (although I know this comes down to personal preference). Cash only-- so be sure to come prepared! Also great value for money (£4.60 for a salt beef bagel).
K. K.
Difference from Montreal and NY Style. Unique with the salted beef... long lines but moves fast and efficient.
D. P.
Delicious salted beef bagel. The beef is flavoursome. The bagel had a great flavour. The mustard is nice and spicy. I recommend asking for extra gherkins.
D. B.
Great bakery, cheesecake for less than a pound, good beigels and salt meat!
L.
Nothing special. I was super excited to try it. Queue was long but moving fast. Got the classic with mustard and pickles. Didn't taste special. It was ok at best. Am I missing something? Staff was pretty rude probably because it was busy
K. T.
Amazing 24 hour bakery in east London. You cannot beat the price at all anywhere else in London. It's a simple place and cash only.
Highly recommend it to anyone visiting London.
A. A.
👑👑👑👑👑
King of salt beef
Best bagel ever if you are in London its must to have must eat must go for it 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
J. G.
First time trying it last night when I was around Brick Lane. Best bagel I have ever tasted in my life.
J. B.
A traditional bakery/bagel place. Always a queue but worth the wait, especially for the salted beef option.
A. O.
Just ordered a Peanut Butter Beigel and some plain Beigels for lunch. The taste; Amazing! the combo peanut butter and beigel; out of this world. Am still smiling! That’s going to be my lunch all week peanut butter and beigel! and Yes I ordered a lot of Beigel because one Beigel is never enough.
T. O.
This was an absolute revelation. I could not recommend this place more. Salt beef beigel with mustard and pickle. It was delicious.
W. W.
Best salt beef bagels on Brick Lane in my opinion. The bread pudding is also fantastic. Guaranteed to be a queue but worth the short wait.
D. R.
This is absolutely the best beigal shop in london, the smell alone is enough to drawer you in , dont be put of by the queue as the speed in which you get served is outstanding, these people are professional, polite and and very fast, so have your order ready to be taken, all the food is cooked fresh on the premises.
W. F.
Best Salt Beef Bagels (Beigels) in London - try the salami and cream cheese or buy some bagels or bread to take home.
Open 24hrs so you’re guaranteed the baked goods are fresh.
R. B.
The best beigel shop in London! Delicious range of beigels, cakes and other bakery foods. Been going to this spot for years, as recommended through family. Their beigels are great value, salt beef one is the best! I like how they can be stored in the freezer and still taste as good!
M. A.
Beigel Bake was packed and understandably so. Service was super quick even with the long queue. Ordered the salt beef Beigel with pickle and mustard and it was delicious. Hot doughy bread with amazingly moist salt beef with sweet dill pickle and mustard that packs some heat to top it off. If you’re in the area, make sure to give it a go, oh and bring cash!
A.
Packed inside but its to be expected! Enjoyed the pickle salted beef bagel for the first time and almond croissant. Affordable for the amount you pay. Will return to try the other items
A. F.
Omg, take me there over any fancy restaurant anytime!!! I'll be back for more. Delicious!!!
E. C.
Great salt beef sandwich and excellent value for London. Try it if you are around Brick Lane ! Open 24/7 and cash only !
M.
Never a bad beigel and always friendly.
This is the ONLY place to buy a salt beef 'with'.
Its a 84mile round trip for me and always worth it.
А. D.
AMAZING! Good music, awlays open and food is beyond healthy and delicious for the time frame! Get a bike late at night and eat a bagel in the center of London! Worth the try :)
S. D.
Loved it! Amazing bagels, bread & cakes, staff helpful 😊
R. B.
Highly recommend the salt beef bagel with all the trimmings ( mustard and pickles). Oh so tasty!
D. B.
The classic salt beef bagel sandwich with pickle and mustard was great.
4 stars only because the front entrance had on the left a homeless person chasing for money all customers, and on the right, an unbelievably tall pile of black leaking garbage bags.
K. H.
This is a Gem, and I know why it is so very popular. The perfect bagels with more than a schmer of cream cheese and the tasty of fat lox-salmon. Brownies, Carrot Cake, and sweet slices of almond squares disguised as ambrosia. Get there for your reasonably priced breakfast bag, and eat it with your favourite posh coffee brand. Lish!
G. A.
Decided very impromptu drive up to get salt beef and mustard in a beigel. Well worth the visit to a piece of history. Parking was easy as well which was a bonus. Both beigel shops had the traditional ranges. Masks still required, which was good to keep everyone safe.
J. C.
It has the best salt beef and pickle Beigel. Absolutely love it here
N. b.
Excellent food very good value. The salt beef bagel is the best.
T. D.
A quick servicing beigel shop, great food 24hrs a day
R. H.
I love the bagels and the salt beef, but their delivery system is way off the mark. The app quoted an hour's wait, Google says I'm 30 mins away by bike, but delivery took nearly 2 hours to arrive. Disappointing.
T. D.
Good beef Beigel with mustard and gherkin in a good serving at <£5 - but why cash only? Why handle infectious cash/coins? What's is your justification beyond avoiding paying tax? How are you part of the local community? No seriously - I look forward to an answer here...
M. B.
Nice bagel with salt beef, but a place has massive hype, but taste wise it missed something. They only accept cash, so be prepared and they is a line, so you will need to wait for approx. 10 min. Good bagel, but dis miss something
G.
Friendly warning: cash only 💵 and definitely go for the bagel with the salt beef!
M. L.
Have not been there for years, took my family along to taste the east end bagels.
Was a bit disappointed there was no chopped liver and no challah.
Ordered hot salt beef bagel and cream cheese and salmon. They were both absolutely amazing, can never go wrong even after all these years. Well recommend.
C. E.
The MUST try Beigel in London 🥯
F. P.
Awesome bagels. Pickle and mustard please!
C. W. J.
Absolutely brilliant salted beef bagel. The mustard variant will hit you straight.
L. P.
Best salt beef beigel i have had, open round the clock its great
A. O.
The original and still the best. Been coming here for years, would obviously recommend the salt beef bagel with mustard and pickle, it is amazing, completely worth the £4.70 price tag. The bagel is got the perfect amount of bite and the salt beef is so tender it just falls apart.
k. b.
Great Beigels, been here for years, always busy but worth the wait.
N. M.
Constant queue no matter what day you go. Bagels, pastries, freshly baked bread and chopped herring.
B. W.
Fresh and tasty Salt Beef Bagel for under a £5... Friendly service. Clean.
G. T.
Everything is fresh and the Salt beef bagels are hot and tasty, great place friendly staff open 24hrs
B. H.
Fantastic beigels. Open 24-hours 7-days a week large selection of fresh breads bagels sandwiches hot drinks coffees teas hot chocolates doughnuts cakes birthday cakes hot snacks clean and hygienic and very helpful friendly staff and a pleasure to go there atmosphere is upbeat and there is a wait.
E.
Legendary. I'm lucky enough to live near this place so when I went to New York recently I didn't bother trying anything salt-beef related knowing Beigel Bake was waiting for me when I got home.
S. P.
Great Fresh bakery fast food, Live bread making & salted beef burger is the specialty.
L. M.
I can't say enough about this place. The best beigels in London! Fact!
A. C.
Authentic East end 24 bagel shop. Super cheap for London.
k. t.
This place is open 24hrs. Do try their signature salt beef bagel that has generous portions of beef and is very affordable. Do expect a snaking queue but it moves along pretty fast.
A. W.
Always worth a visit the best salt beef bagels in London back open 24 hours now too
a.
Great, authentic salt beef beigels here. The bakery is open so you can see people working hard in the back, and it all looks and smells great. The lines can get long but service is fast and succinct. The pastries are no joke either! Definitely try one of the doughnuts.
G.
Really rude staff, you're like a ghost in this shop. Would definitely not recommend this shop I really don't understand the good ratings
Edit: I updated my note, decided to give another try and this time the staff was kind. The bagels are good and cheap.
G.
Best Bagel shop in London although last night the pavement outside the shop was lined with bin bags. Also lots of motorbikes, quad bikes parked up with people blocking the pavements and having no consideration for other pedestrians.
The Beigel bake shop is always busy and my personal favourite is the cheesecake, but then so are the apple slices and most recently I have tried the coconut and almond slices which are also very good. Prices have increased slightly but are still very cheap. Salmon and cream cheese beigels are delicious. I have never eaten the salt beef beigel so cannot comment. Hot tea and coffee also served here. Queues are always long but don't let that put you off as staff serve very quickly.
Note: New restrictions apply to vehicles entering Brick Lane on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 11pm. Check road signage before entering.
G. R.
Manages to stop here twice during a week stay in the area and both times got the salt beef bagel with mustard and pickle. Staff is quick and friendly. Be sure the bring cash and know what you want when it is your turn to order.
W. N.
The salted beef bagel is one of the must try food in London, but don't miss out their pastries as well! Both the cheesecake and carrot cake were amazing.
F. H.
This is the place for Bagels! Freshly baked bagel with hot chunky beef slices. Absolutely the best salt beef bagel you can get. Get the soup to go with it. Amazingly they open 247 and people just kept flocking in. Very affordable and great location. Well recommended. 👍🏻
N. P. B.
This place is a London institution. Amazing food. Wonderful staff. They don't mess about so try not to be an arse. Love them all.
D. “. t.
Cant go wrong with the bagel ,staff come across a bit rude didnt seem happy even though the shop is full also dont take card payment is annoying
S. S.
Don’t expect over the top friendly service. It’s a no nonsense experience. Reminds me of NYC delis. The bagels are soft and fresh, the salt beef is tender and flavorful. The spicy (from wasabi or horseradish) mustard and pickle slices top it off well. Good value.
Cash only so go prepared; though there is an (fee charging) ATM across the street.
M. A.
Best salt beef on the planet, worth every penny.
The original and best!
S. T.
Salt beef bagels here are hands down the best! Add a pickle and don’t worry about the line - can be long but fast moving!
M. B.
This was one of my favourite bites in all of London. Fast, affordable, damn good. Keep up the great work.
B. C.
Brilliant bagels and cakes, definitely worth coming for the salt beef bagel alone.
Y. S.
Fast and efficient service. My friend got the salt meat beigal and I got a sausage roll! All tasted good
A. L.
Opened 24/7. Went there after drinks with friends. Bright and retro interior.
Ordered the tuna bagel which i found to be really dry. I should have gotten the popular salt beef one instead. Oh well, would have to return to try it another time.
A.
No queue, easy and quick. Can never fault the food here travelled 50 minutes just to get a salt beef bagel and cheese cake 😍
J. A.
Always good, sometimes with a long queue, but it does not take more than 4 minutes to get your bagel and go 😀
R. S.
Beef 5*, beigel 4* (could be warm not cold) area 2*
Overall 4* and recommended
嘤.
THE famous salted beef bagel! So good
J. N.
Great baking, for so many years! Never a disappointment.
Still as good as ever
T. B.
I tried it and it does taste delicious, try (any bread) salt beef with pickles and mustard.
L. K.
One of London’s top bites to try! The salty beef baigel is a must-try! You’ll most likely encounter a long queue of people but the service is extremely quick so don’t be discouraged. Despite its popularity, prices have remained remarkably low over the years!
E. D.
Best beigel I’ve ever had, not that I’m an expert! Smoked salmon and cream cheese is to die for, especially at £2.30!
Ensure you have cash before you enter and don’t walk your salt beef back to the office as cold it just doesn’t taste the same.
Pastries weren’t as good as I expected but were reasonably priced so who’s complaining?
A.
Had the smoked salmon bagel instead, and it was amazing! Affordable as well :)
J. B.
Loved the bagel with salted beef and pickle. The bagel had a nice texture and not this plain dry taste. The beef was super tender. Don't skip the pickle and mustard! Plus they are open early mornings as well. Totally worth it. Gets crowded on weekends though but still worth the wait!
a. e. n.
The most famous bagel shop in London really cheap and plenty of option
S. C.
Just the best hot salt beef beigels. Must try.
S. A.
Still the go-to salt beef biegel place in London and no one has beaten it yet.
M. M.
Tasty bagels, hot mustard for the salt beef, all round good taste...no where to sit but there's a standing bar where you can eat your bagel. Service polite but rushed but it seems to be the defining ambiance of the joint. Given a choice though, assuming it's open, try next door 😎
O. V.
Team are a little rude, but I didn't go there to visit them I went to buy food, satisfied with my purchase. Will go again definitely.
L. H.
This place is reliable as the Earth spinning!! I've been to Beigel Bake on & off for 22 years .../ It's literally open 24/7 ...so for those crazy unanticipated late night munchies, you'll always have the bagel option! They also do pasties pies and soup. Very very reasonable prices, happy chatty staff and food is always consistent. Easy to find junction of Brick Lane / Bethnal Green Road.
F. H.
Recommend: salt beef with pickled cucumber bagel!
C. C.
Best bagels in town, love that it's open 24/7 and that they're keeping old East London prices. Can not beat £2 for a salmon and cream cheese bagel, or £4 for a salt beef one. They sell lots of other types of bread and pastries too.
S.
Got the salt beef bagel, beef was fantastic but the bagel was average (far too hard)
S. S.
A must any time I am in the area. Tasty and cheap
J. W.
Just a simple review - best bagel I’ve ever had. Every mouthful felt like a punch of flavours just exploding in my mouth. If I stayed in London, I would definitely have this every week!
A. P.
I visited this place recently (after a long time) as I was craving their salt beef beigels! The portions and taste was just as I'd remembered it! Amazing! I definitely won't be leaving it so long next time.
A. O.
What a dream! Salted beef bagel is what you need when you go here. Bit of a dodgy neighborhood so we took ours to go. The beef literally melts in your mouth and the bagel is fresh from the oven. Will be recommending this to all that want a delicious sandwich in London!
C. W.
We went out of our way to get a salt beef bagel, which involved trekking through a pretty big rain storm, and it was definitely worth it! The salt beef bagel with mustard and pickles was just so, SO good - especially for the price! If this place were closer to our hotel I would've returned a few times. The meat was flavorful and tender, while the bagel was soft and seemed freshly baked. I would've given five stars if the people working there were even on iota more friendly, although their attitude does kind of match the whole vibe of the place. Highly recommend this place, even if you have to go out of your way to get here!
V. B.
Had the chance to spontaneously swing by this place at 2200 when a friend came to visit. The bagel itself is pretty good. Not a fan of the salt beef. Overall, cool experience and decent food.
J. Y.
I got a take away salt beef bagel, and it was missing mustard. Good bagel and meat though, but I feel like it definitely needed a mustard to round everything up.
S. M.
The COOLEST, CHEAPEST, TASTIEST place in Bricklane! Must try the Salt Beef bagel 🥯
K. C.
I got the salted beef and it was a bit smaller than expected but tasty nonetheless! I actually prefer the taste of this over my beloved Montreal smoked meat, and that’s saying a lot. The hot mustard added quite the kick, and I asked for 2 pickle slices. Mmmm. Also enjoyed that it was served in a bagel.
J. W.
This is the place if you want a fresh sailt beef Beigel I was there Sunday it's a very busy shop all day long dose not take more than 5 minutes to go in and out with your food
J. A. B. F.
Tempered staff and not a lot of places to eat but the food is just amazing. Worth the waiting.
T. S. T. D.
The legendary Beigel Bake, on Brick Lane. East London. Open 24/7.
Provides a wide range of cakes, pastries, beigels and rolls with all fillings.
Their salt beef is amazing. It melts in the mouth.
I like mine served in a beigel, with pickles, mustard and ketchup. Delicious! Try for yourself.
C. S. N.
Love this place, been coming here for YEARS and it never changes which is so comforting in London, the land of eternal change. The biggest croissants, the best cakes, tea you could stand a spoon in- what more do you want? Lovely.
K. C.
One of the constant in this fast changing area of Brick Lane. I have been coming here for many years now, salt beef bagel still taste as good as ever. Seems to have less beef than before but arguably better balance between beef and bagel! One of the great cheap eats in London.
S. P. N.
I cannot stress this enough, the best salt beef sandwiches on rye with mustard and pickles. Also the bagels and cream cheese and or salmon is so dam delicious. This is the closest thing we have in London to Katz's in NY. Love love love it!
l. s.
Truly elite bakery! With a line out the door that moves quickly as the staff pump out tons of tasty pastries. The peak of the experience however is their salt and beef beigel which is stunningly good for the £4.70 they charge. Get it with both the mustard and the pickles for one of the best bagel sandwiches you will ever have.
A. V.
Good, busy place and a must if you are in this area. The salt beef bagel with gherkins is really nice, the mustard is quite spicy (kind of Dijon).
If you're hungry one bagel is not enough
C. B.
We went for a bagel late in the night. Cheap, fast and nice people. However the bagels are good but not exceptional. Nice to go for a snack during the night if you are in the neighborhood.
N. B.
You would never believe what a salty beef bagel can taste like
D. Q.
Such good beigels (bagels??) And amazing salt beef. Simple but so delicious
C. H.
The salt beef bagel is a must try! But skip the mustard if you are not a fan of wasabi-like heat.
J. H.
Always bustling, opens 24/7, fast service!
Cant go wrong with cheap, delicious bagels!
We had the classic Salt beef bagel, Smoked salmon and cream cheese and nuttella bagel!
Must try their famous Salt beef bagel!
C. B. C.
Been using this beigel shop for last 35 years.
Staff are always polite and service is very quick
Try the cakes as well
A. P.
This is the best fast and very much unique bagel place in London. The prices are twice or triple lower than in a regular lunch sandwich place (less than 2 pounds for a big bagel)but the taste and quality of these bagels is off the charts. If you are not local then watching sales people at the tills and communicating with them is another type of enjoyment - they all have witty tongue (though not rude, only original). You’ll see it if you hesitate at till while they expect the queue to go smooth and quick without any disruption. Try a cheesecake too for just 90p, it is delightful!
D. R. J.
Classified as a 4 as this is one of London's staples and wouldn't want to lower ratings over personal preferences.
Coming from NY, i heard a lot of things about this place but it is NOT a NY bagel. This is a London institution.
The portion is likely large enough to fill most and kudos for mostly everything being made + prepped in-house.
The corned beef (salted beef) if super lean and the texture, for me, is a bit off for the heap of meat they put on.
The bagel tasted more like a pretzel roll, but the softness (spread with a spicy mustard) allowed it to play a good vehicle for the protein; sandwich came served with a bread and butter/sweet pickle.
L. R.
There is a reason why Beigel Bake has been around since 1974. Its the same reason there is a 24 hour demand for there famous Salt Beef Beigel and that is because its very cheap but probably the best salt beef beigel you will ever have.
After a short queue I was served by one of 5 cashiers just to show how busy the establishment was. I went for the classic Salt beef beigel with a big gherkin and a spalsh of mustard. The beef literally melted in my mouth and was delicious with just the right amount of salt. The dough was fantastic and you could tell straight away it was made fresh. In fact it was so good i had to turn around and walk back to buy another.
Literally five minutes after leaving the queue was now outside the shop and again it went really quickly. I decided to buy 2 onion beigels, 1 plain, 2 apple strudel's, 2 coconut slices and of course another Salt beef with everything all for the very reasonable price of £8.10 of which the beigel was £4.50
P.
Beigel Bake's salt beef beigel tastes better.
T. H.
Very close competitor for next door beigel bake. But only difference I have seen in their buns they toast it and the next door one they don’t. But they have some delicious pastries which is worth going for specially at night time when most of the shops or restaurants are closed.
B. S.
For bagels lox and cream cheese lovers, look no further. However this iconic establishment is far more famous for their salt beef.
K. A.
Do you want to know a little trick here, me ol’ china plate?
The salt beef bagel, whilst delicious, is quite expensive (£4.80).
Use your noggin’, and get yourself any one of the other bagels on offer, all of which are less than half price and just as, if not more, delicious.
Plus if it’s quiet and you flirt with the staff, you might get a free donut. But how would I know? I never go outside anymore.
S. A.
One of London food landmarks, superb salt beef and bagels. Long standing 24 hours establishment with heritage and cult following. A must whether you are a foodie or not.
S. T.
Always excellent. Great value for great and yummy filled bagels.
S. H.
East end institution. Must visit. Full of character and friendly staff. Highly recommend the salt beef beigel (obviously) and the cheese cake.
L. H.
The owners are lovely, the staff are great and the bagels are the best I have had anywhere in the world. What more could you possibly want.
A. P.
One of my favourite places. The salt beef bagels with pickle and mustard are incredible . Really good value, open 24/7
A. H. F.
Never had a bad experience here, popular and at times very busy, but worth the wait.
C. S.
If you are craving a Salt Beef Beigel, then it must be from Brick Lane. It is the only place to go.
The fresh beigel and think wedges of Salt beef are only just made better with a little mustard and gherkin.
Prepare to queue, as it always seems busy and is always open.
Definitely one to try, if you haven't already.
A. M.
We went on a road trip to accomplish Brighton to Beigel. Naively going into the first bagel shop we didn’t realise it was the other one that was more famous!! However I actually preferred this place. Staff much friendlier, salt beef amazing. Will definitely go back on our next road trip.
J. W.
One of the best sandwiches I have had in my life.
R. R.
Solid beigel with delicious beef - service is fast and simple. Not sure if it’s worth 4 Pounds but it’s pretty darn good so I’ll give it to them
J. Q.
You should go here. Honestly one of the best things I have tasted in my life anywhere in the world. The salt beef Bagel and pickles is out of this world. The only thing to tempt me to eat meat since I gave it up in August! Seriously you should go here. Fast service and polite staff as well as delicious food. Excellent. Also spare a thought for the homeless who often beg outside this shop, after all it is cash only too.
V. B.
There was quite a long queue during my Sunday afternoon visit, but I was impressed by the efficiency and speed the staff served customers and shuttled them in and out of the place. That said, my tuna bagel was rather oily, which is a shame. The bagel itself, though, was very soft and fluffy. I can definitely see why this place is highly rated for it. I'll visit again, but probably get something plainer.
s. b.
Amazing place,
High quality beigel, very tasty
The beigels are very cheap, you can get one for 40 pens.
Worth a visit, its located in shoreditch.
V. A.
I ordered the salt beef beigel with pickles and mustard and it was great.
They have low prices and they're open 24h.
I took the order and leaved the business, but they have a little bar table that you can use to eat there.
T. C.
Super long queue but they clear it fairly quickly. The salt beef is pretty good, a bit better than the place in selfridges but not that much. Cheaper though.
OK, back in Jan 2020. I've changed my mind, I prefer the one on selfridges but this is still tasty and perhaps the portions are more manageable.
N.
Amazing late night eats, very reasonably priced and delicious. I would highly recommend the Salted Beef. Would definitely come back!
S. K.
been coming here for years. amazing salt beef begals, 24/7
M. B.
Great salt beef beigel. Super hot mustard. Cash only, even during covid.
N. H.
Went early on a week day so had no queues. Went for the original salt beef with hurlings and it was delightful. Would defiantly go again when I’m in the area. The interior is retro, but I didn’t spend too much time in there. They also sell cakes and pastries, among other bakery goods.
J. B.
Good Beigels! Salt beef and mustard beigel takeaway are delicious.
L. L.
A British institution. The salt beef bagel with pickles and mustard is amazing. The other pastries are great too.
F. S. (.
Such a dream. There was a Long queue but the service was very quick. I can recommend the salted beef bagel.
H. C.
The salt beef beigel and the chocolate fudge brownies are the best I’ve ever had !
S. P.
Amazing salmon bagel! Great fast service.
A. A.
Smoked salmon and cream cheese is the best bagel here.....absolutely a must have here, even against their flagship salt beef bagel which is great but not as epic in my opinion. Portion size and ratio to bagel is spot on.
P. V.
Exellent .been there for ever. great salt beef, if you are in to meat.
G. a.
Great place for a salt beef bagel any time of the day or night 😁
S. S.
Probably the best bagels I have ever had, the salt beef bagel with a pickle is the best on the menu, the carrot cake is also great. Really well priced as well, just a shame they dont take card payments.
