Reviews of Bread Ahead Bakery Borough Market

We took our followers recommendations and made a bee line for the Bread Ahead stall at Borough Market last weekend. What we sampled was so delicious we decided to write a poem about it.

Have you tried Bread Ahead doughnuts yet?
What are your flavour recommendations?
We had Lemon Curd which was delicious and tangy - a great contrast to the sugary coating. We also tried the Blackcurrant Cheesecake Ripple (because why only have 1 when you can have 2??!) and that was in-cred-ible!! Sooo creamy and the best thing is you get loads and loads of filling 😋 (not like those pesky supermarket doughnuts!! 😉)

Best doughnuts in London! Hands down! Not even questionable! The doughnuts are so light and fluffy and I love the simplicity of them…the flavours are delicious. Last time I visited I got the Valentines Day special. Well worth it!
J. B.
Hands down the best doughnuts in London, most likely the UK, and dare I say the world? Everytime I head to London this is a must 'pit stop'. Every flavour I've had has been delightful, but if it's your first time you have to try the vanilla custard. Their pizza is also killer! 10/10 recommend and always worth the wait.
A. a.
Succulent, flavorful and delicious. It is must to step by and try their donuts and croissant. The honeycomb donut is the winner for me. They generous in the stuffing as well. For my taste is over sweet due they cover them with caster sugar. I definitely coming back for them if I am around.
K. K.
I don’t understand why they ruin the donuts when they pack it. Looks really delicious when I bought them, but when I came back home looks… weird. Also all people who work in here is not gentle and kind at all.
麵.
Not a doughnut lover but would definitely be attracted by these wonderful doughnuts 🍩
It’s a bit pricey but worth to try. Custard cream is so smooth and not too sweet.
I tried the blackcurrant cheesecake ripple with Monmouth oat latte and it was a perfect match.
They close at 17:00 so I went back for two more doughnuts home as a dessert after supper.
Would love to try other doughnut flavours for sure.

The only place I go to buy Doughnuts from these days…
Absolute insane tasting, loads of filling and always so fresh and fluffy!!
Loads of different options, the queues are a bit of a pain sometimes, but hey good things come to those who wait!!
A lovely sweet treat after an afternoon mooching round Borough Market.
C. J.
I took the half day French bread workshop here and it was outstanding!! Loved every moment and learned so much. At £90 I felt like the quality of teaching and ingredients made it value for money. Will definitely be back for more classes :)
K. d.
Very nice environment, and everything is explained stepwise. I will definitely be back for another course. I rarely bake (and when i do it's cupcakes), so the fact that I was able to produce decent looking bread and cinnamon rolls speaks to the quality of the class. Highly recommend.
N. M.
One of the best doughnuts in London. It offers different options. We tried the chocolate, custard vanilla, the cheesecake, all were good. The doughnuts were full of the stuffing I personally prefer it to be less filled.
M. K.
Absolutely amazing donuts- deliciously light and fluffy with amazing fillings. I especially liked how much choice there was. Only downside is they’re £4 per donut which is a ridiculous amount of money just for a donut but at least they’re delicious!
Q. T.
The doughnuts are £4 each - which is ridiculously expensive especially as the doughnuts aren’t consistent - varying from light to dark brown and the band and the proof line isn’t consistent around the doughnuts.
If you’ve had doughnuts in New York (Doughnut Plant or Dough), Bread Ahead doughnuts are comparatively smaller and more expensive.
The above aside, they’re still the best doughnuts around. I’m really pleased that they’re finally selling the doughnuts with lemon curd filling. The doughnut is soft and fluffy. They’re better than Crosstown.

BREAKFAST IN BOROUGH MARKET
On my last day in London I decided to pop down to Borough market for some breakfast. I follow this bakery on Instagram so was delighted to discover it had a bakery at this location. I was a little si when I realised they didn’t have any doughnuts so instead I had an almond croissant. It was the best almond croissant I have ever had, hands down. Very large making it value for money. The filling was delicious and very generous too. Super sticky and flaky, just how I like my pastry!
J. Y. K.
The best doughnut in town! It’s definitely a must when you are in Borough Market.
K. D.
Really great donuts! A tad expensive for the size. The pistachio was my favorite.
J. G.
Yummy doughnuts. So many flavours to choose from that it’s a hard pick. I think these are definitely worth the money is you’re feeling some doughnuts
C. F.
Lovely baked goods, right in the middle of Borough Market 🥐
The doughnuts are of course famous, and there’s a very decent selection of them. I had the chocolate one (and bought a few other flavours for others) and it was delicious.
Also bought a couple of the very pretty cinnamon swirls, which looked particularly enticing.
The stands are really pretty to look at and set up in a nice way.
The service was polite and friendly, even when there was a bit of a queue.
Will definitely go back :)
i. s.
Bread Ahead was suggested by a friend, I am not a fan of doughnuts but they have an amazing variety and taste
The doughnuts just taste so good
M. K.
The perfect doughnut (albeit slightly expensive).
Good selection of doughnuts and breads. I went for the salted caramel and butterscotch one. It was sugary, soft and stuffed full of the creamy filling (which was really pleasant tasting).
I would be keen to try other flavours, however they are slightly expensive at £4 or £4.50 a doughnut. So I think they’re fine for a treat once in a while, but I wouldn’t get them regularly.
P. T.
Doughnuts are worth wait! Carrot cake awesome too!
K. C.
I took my children for the first time when Lockdown lifted and was able to travel out of your own Brough. I followed bread ahead throughout Lockdown and promised my children I would take them there. When we finally got to go I let my children choose what they wanted and they wasn't disappointed. It was delicious, they chose something savory and doughnuts. They were huge and the filling was amazing. They were so happy and excited, we took a walk along the south bank and found a nice spot to dive into out fresh doughnuts, The doughnuts were so big they had trouble biting them, but that was the whole fun of it. We laughed so much.🤣🤣 We had such a fun day that day, just going for a walk and letting the children be free and happy. 😊 Thank you Bread ahead for putting smiles on my children's faces x They really did enjoy their treat and so did I.😋😋😋😋 We hope to visit again some day.
K. S.
Visited Borough market the first time and decided to try this bakery. By the look of it, I found it promising. And, I am so glad tried it.
They only had 2 types of doughnuts at that time and I tried the Chocolate velvet doughnut. I decided to take one first and after the first bite immediately fell in love with it 😍. It was so soft and creamy 😋😋😋😋. The chocolate filling inside just melts in the mouth and the softness of the doughnut just enriches the flavour.
The sweetness was just perfect!
After I finished it, immediately went back and bought another one.
If you are in Borough market, this is a must try.
Would definitely visit again.
S. L.
They sell one of the freshest and fluffiest doughnuts ever, possibly the best in London too (one star deducted because I realise their quality depends on the crowd, the merrier/busier, the better but all sold at the same asking price)! They have a few branches outside of Borough Market (I know one near Sloane Square and doughnut flavours are basic) but exclusive and special flavours seems to be only sold here.
C.
Maybe the best English doughnut I have ever had!!!
So light you could eat quite a few 🤣🤣
£3 each, which I thought was very reasonable at Borough Market. Especially as you can see the bakers at work in there shop. So you know what your getting is freshly made.
The honeycomb tasted homemade and melted in the mouth. The salted caramel tasted adult like but not overpowering, so you can taste all the lovely flavours.
Lots of choice, and if you order two you get them in a fancy box.
Very Impressed - Will be back soon to try the other flavours Nom Nom 😍😋😀
N. F.
Great variety of bread, bakes and cakes! They obviously use good quality ingredients and baked daily in the borough market bakery. Only reason I didn’t give them 5 star is that they are extremely overpriced! Please think of your pricing strategy as it appears that it’s only aimed at tourist when a lit of locals would by more often if prices were more reasonable!
A. A.
The doughnuts taste very good, the price is expensive, but they deserve it.
F. G.
Found this bakery school shop while browsing around London Borough. They have fresh bread baked in the shop itself. Although they seem to be famous with donuts I didn’t go with that. Just ordered a pain of chocolat and cinnamon swirl. The dishes were cold and quite hard, didn’t enjoy it as much as it should be. Might come back in future for other bakery.
M. L. R.
Superstar doughnuts 🍩 Well worth the queue. They are so light and tasty. Love the passionfruit ones. Aiming to try them all. Pistachio and cream is more in the cream side than pistachio, not the best.
A. U.
I had the carrot cake. It was fluffy, not dry, well spiced, with walnuts running through it. Cream cheese frosting was yum.
V. “. L.
How can jelly doughnuts be this DELICIOUS?! I can probably eat an entire box of these Bread Ahead doughnuts. Their cinnamon rolls are also amazing - smells so good and pillowy soft. Just thinking about them makes me hungry!
K. Y.
Waited in line to be served but it took a bit since the lady was having a great time with the couple she was serving. Anyways, the doughnuts are amazing since they’re so soft and the sugar covering adds this slight crunch. Cream is also soft and not too sweet. Paired well with the dough. Tried the chocolate, vanilla, sea salted honeycomb, and hazelnut and almond praline. Enjoyed the last two more than vanilla and chocolate. £3 each but definitely worth it.
R.
Went for the doughnut making course with my girlfriend and it was an incredible experience!
Both of us have no experience within baking but that did not matter at all. The instructor was really helpful and made everything really easy for us to do. The doughnuts were pretty simple to make and we now feel confident that we could recreate them at home (providing we follow the recipe they provided).
The whole course was really fun and a hands on experience which I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves doughnuts!
In the end you get to keep the 6 you made and then you also keep the dough you made which can be used the next day to make another 6 more. Now that's a lot of doughnuts but when they taste as good as they do, no one is complaining 😅
M. L.
During Sunday most of the Boroughs Market stores are closet, but this lovely bakery is open. It’s a Baking School as well, I had a great carrot cake and a cinnamon roll, not cheap but fine. Non has seats around, but easy to reach a nice bench in the Cathedral garden, you can sit down there with a coffee and your cake to rest a little before walk around southern side of Thames.
K. H.
Worth the wait doughnuts! Any of the cream filled will satisfy any sweet tooth you may have. Love the hustle and bustle of visiting on a weekend morning!

I attended the Puff Pastry Workshop taught by Manuel in March of 2019. Class lasted 3 hours and was perfectly structured. It was a combination of lecture and demonstration (performed by Manuel) followed by hands on work at our individual stations. Class size was about 10 people which meant we got a lot of personal attention. There was time to ask questions and the class was very well-paced. We left with a full block of puff pastry dough (to bake later), an Epiphany cake, and cheese straws.
A. A.
I was gifted the Intro to Sourdough Workshop and attended the 3-hour class led by Manuel on the last day before the second lockdown started. What a treat! I had attempted sourdough baking on my on before, but the in-person-class really opened up the topic at another level. Manuel was fabulous - he structured the workshop nicely, combining a bit of lecturing (he's very funny), demonstration and hands-on-work by us. I never thought we could cover so much in 3 hours, yet it felt very unhurried. We left the class with a baby starter and two loaves of bread. Thank you so much! I loved it and have already recommended the class to many people. And I'll be back to learn more as soon as you'll be able to reopen. It's been great to order flour from you as well (through Sous Chef). Attaching a picture of this morning's bake, the starter is still very much alive, as I bake twice a week. I'm hooked.
E. F.
So good! The pastry is soft and the filling is not too much. I'd say their doughnuts are worth the hype. £3 each or £10 for 4.
M.
Attended the Italian baking course and what a delight it was!
I was a sceptic about courses like these, I’ll be honest, however I was absolutely surprised.
What a great course - the baker was very i formative, guided us perfectly and gave us tips and tricks (along with the why’s); giving us hope that bread baking is not at all scary!
Lovely class, looking forward to trying out a few more classes!
a. s.
The doughnuts were really good and quick service!
V. B.
Extremely impressed by my visit to the Bread Ahead school today for a doughnut making class. You get to make your doughnuts from start to finish, try plenty along the way and take a huge bag home of 6 doughnuts you made and other sweet treats. The Japanese Master - Utakr is an excellent woman who cares greatly about her craft and ensures you go away with a smile. Thank you!
M. A.
The pistachio donut is so so so delicious and yummy deserve to come again to try it ... while the one with blueberry jam was OK but not like the pistachio donut
5 stars for the donut which is filled with too much pistachio cream
Highly recommended
D. K.
Delicious filled doughnuts.
Try the vanilla custard and pistachio doughnuts.
Not a fan of the cookies and cream one. The last time I went they didn’t taste very nice. The filling was a different colour, seemed thicker and not very nice tasting. When they’re good they are GOOD though!
H. W.
Exploring Borough Market has been a true gem in the midst of a rubbish year! It's great to see the vendors in full swing and the staff ensure it remains well managed. The Bread Ahead pastries are pricy, but they're definitely worth it. Oh and the chocolate babka (layers of croissant with chocolate ganache) is life changing!
S. S.
Excellent breadmaking course in the heart of Borough Market. I took the sourdough class, where you learn how to make a starter and end up making 2 delicious breads that you can take home with you. All materials are given and you can ask as many questions as you want. Brilliant class with a scrumptious result!
K. C.
Very nice pastry shop in borough market area. Always have a long waiting line, especially for doughnut. It comes in various flavor, which I would recommend to try all if you can. Even it is a little bit pricey, but it worth trying!
J. D.
Had a vanilla custard-filled doughnut at Bread Ahead in Carnaby. It was so mouthwatering that I took an impromptu doughnut making class the day before I flew out of London. Definitely one of the highlights of my vacation! Class teaches you how to make dough (ingredients and kneading skills), custard base, honeycomb, frying method, and assembly methods. I walked out of class with half dozen gourmet doughnuts, an extra batch of fresh dough, an abundance of honeycomb, and inspiration to start baking at home. Class provides refreshments (water, french-pressee coffee, and brownies). Will have to take the full-day baking course when I return to London! 🥐
M. P.
Whenever I am in London have to go to borough market to get the bread.. buy in bulk and we freeze it to maintain freshness abs have it for a week or 2. Focaccia, cheese twist, olive bread, sundries tomato bread, sourdough.. best bread I have ever had. Have been having since few years now.. I wish they could have branch in West Midlands too
T. R.
Bangin' doughnuts! Fresh and light, fantastic. Too be honest a lot of the fillings were too much for us (honeycomb and salted caramel, lemon curd), the dough itself was the winner and will opt for classic jam next time.
M. a. t.
Fresh, delicious doughnuts generously stuffed with a light cream that is just the right level of sweet. Can't go wrong with vanilla but the other flavors are great too. A perfect sweet treat if you're in the area.
D. L.
Stop and get a donut!! They make the BEST DONUTS IN THE WORLD!!!! I have eaten donuts all over the United States and Bread Ahead makes the best in the world!!! I had to make myself stop eating them! GO GET ONE!!!
J. M.
This is a cute, affordable little bread stall in borough market. It is near the outer entrance and really good. The bread and toppings are very fresh. I ordered the tomato and pesto focaccia and it was only 2 pounds. A perfect little snack, especially if you are wanting to sample other places in the market.
C. Y. T.
A bakery centering the Borough Market, with another stall selling the popular reviewed doughnuts, Bread Ahead can have a 10/10 for their presentation, but post-taster session had certainly left their standards questionable. The Cinnamon buns gave off an attractive scent, having prepared fresh early in the morning but the taste was disappointingly not in proportion to the smell. Meanwhile, I bought 4 doughnuts, each of them were a different flavour. They were: Creme Caramel & Salted Honeycomb, Velvet Chocolate, Classic Vanilla and Hazelnut & Almond Praline. The cream/decoration on the top of these doughnuts are really cute and a sweet addition to the cinnamon-tasting doughnut. Nevertheless, consuming the doughnuts as a whole tasted artificially sweet, which was slightly gross particularly for the Caramel & Salted Honeycomb. Overall, I do think it's still worth a go but please do not keep your hopes too high.
E. L.
I did a Patisserie Workshop and it was brilliant!
In just one day we baked croissants and sweet pastry tarts with three different fillings: custard, fruit with frangipane and creme patissiere. There were just 8 people and each of us were making every step in the recipes on your own.
To accomodate 3-day baking process of croissants, school provided each student with a starter dough, prepared in advance.
Teacher Kevan Roberts was very attentive and made sure that every student was following his instructions correctly. He demonstrated each step and we, students, followed along using our own dough mix.
At the end, there were plenty of great pastries to try and to bring home!
Highly recommend this school, as its teachers actually care about teaching. Whole course, lunch and coffee breaks, were all well organised and crew team was very friendly.
M. L.
We tried the pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. It was only £4.50 for all this pizza! Will be sure to come back to try out their legendary donuts too!
J. G.
Vanilla custard is just amazing not too sweet so you won't stop eating.
L. P.
Great day baking bread! Highly recommend!
b. g.
The best doughnut I ever had. Strongly recommend everyone to try the doughnuts from this place. Even focaccia looked delicious will be trying that soon.
My favourite doughnut is velvety Chocolate.
N. H.
Freshly baked reasonably priced bread in the heart of the Borough Market. I would say doughnuts are tad pricey but nice selection.
E. A.
Delicious donuts! The pizza looked amazing too. Definitely worth the wait in the queue!
A. S.
Amazing doughnut course! Emanuel was a great and fun Instrutor his instructions were very accurate and he was very helpful to answer any questions.
I had a lot of fun and learnt a lot of new techniques. The people in the class were so much fun too. I honestly recommend this course for anyone that loves baking
T. D. 1.
Simply delicious doughnuts, generously filled, i tried the vanilla ,chocolate and the cookie flavors they are all good i cant make my mind of which was the best
A.
Did the Italian baking course - cannot recommend enough. Utako made the course so fun and easy plus everyone had so much bread to take home. Really lovely experience.
B. U.
We were in Boroughs Market and brother disappeared for a bit and then brought these goodies for us. The cream-filled doughnuts were really delicious. Different flavours and they were all tasty. You should grab some to try if you do happen across them.
E.
The doughnuts here are so fresh and delicious, I visit here regularly when I'm at Borough Market. The classic vanilla custard, the praline, and the lemon curd are delicious, but my favourite flavour was their limited edition Eton Mess flavour (vanilla custard, fresh strawberries, and meringue) which was indulgent without being too sweet.
G. C.
Excellent doughnuts, though a little bit on the pricey side.
M. W.
Bread Ahead in Borough Market is amazing, anyone looking to do the Baking Courses I would highly recommend it. We did the doughnut cooking course (hosted by Fran, who was the best!) and I've also tried many of the breads which were delicious. The doughnuts taste like fuffly clouds and are full of heavenly vanilla creme pat and other jam fillings <3
A. N.
While known for its variety of breads and pastries, I eagerly come to the market food stall for its donuts. Beautifully prepared and packed in the food bucket, each flavor combination is distinguished by its signature top. A delightful indulgence!
Z. M.
Located outside Borough Market, on the edge, so u have to walk round to find it. U will find a gem called Bread Ahead doughnuts, quite simply.... they are the Best!!! U have to queue up for several minutes as they are so popular and sort after. But once u bite into them u know why. Several flavours available on offer. At £4 a pop each and cashless payment. Highly recommended, once u have one. They will have u coming back for more . Vanilla, chocolate, praline, pistachio, jam, lemon curd, cookies & cream the list goes on. They have new flavours every week as well as the post popular ones .
M. S.
The donuts here are incredible. That is all.
Stuffed to the brim with custard / filling but not too heavy - how they do it, I don’t know! Go try for yourself! £3 for one huge donut or £10 for 4
q. l.
Have been Baker here, Was great and had good times, but we cant compare to french bakery, even if there some realy good stuc here !The bread was good and made with attention and love !(Try the rye sourdough!!)
D. w. D.
Famous for their donuts and famous for their bread. Dang!! This stuff is solid gold. Fantastic overall. So much to try and therefore I must visit many times :)
L.
The custard cream is the top of the top and the best doughnut in London for sure... all the other flavours are not so good but worth to try all of them cause depends on taste
E. P.
Lovely doughnuts but the price has kept rising and they now over £4 for one doughnut. sighs.
J. D.
Nice light doughnuts. I thought the vanilla was better than the chocolate, but all were very tasty. That vanilla cream, just, yum.
A.
The Cinnamon Bun with Cheese Frosting was Yums. Even though it was left out cold but it was still crispy at the sides, soft on the inside and totally worth every single bite !!! 3.50 £ for a piece , a huge one.
H. C.
pistachio doughnut 🍩 filled with a tasty cream.
Don't forget to get a tissue before eating it 🙂
A. Z.
Go here for the most incredible donuts - personal favourites are the vanilla and praline. I once ate 5 of their donuts in one day. Didn't help that I lived down the road.
G. H.
Incredible pizza and get value for money of portion size vs price. Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon for more.
G. B.
Very nice bakery .. the donuts are especially nice. They have bakery classes and sell their products not just here outside their studio lovation but they also have another stall inside main Borough Market. I also quite enjoyed the olive and cheese breadsticks.
A. H.
Doughnuts were delicious. Got the Salted caramel one and also the pistachio one. Definately preferred the pistachio.
Staff were friendly and they take card. Doughnuts came in a box too so they travelled well.
D. A.
They now also serve cheap pizza by the slice, was to me the most authentic NY style slice I had in London - but I'm no expert. Surely worth to give it a go if you're looking for a nice NY slice. Beware, for 4,50 you get TWO large slices. They only had margherita and pepperoni when I tried, but it was killer. Have not tried their doughnut, maybe next time.
A. L.
Incredible donuts cooked fresh. Vanilla Cream was the best I've had (pastry wise).
A. C.
Awesome donuts!! Filling was very smooth and creamy. Chocolate cream was especially good!
V. V.
Nice selection of interesting doughnuts to choose from - good range of flavour and variety, overpriced though. Would pop by for one when passing but not go out of my way.
t. r.
Honey Comb and Jam are delicicous! Chocolate and Almond are so so. Less yummay than expected
S. R.
The margherita pizza 🍕 of Bread Ahead is the best pizza i ever had in UK. Lovely
A. T.
These doughnuts are phenomenal!! Delicious!!! We ordered one of each and quickly ate them!!
The one filled with vanilla was as tasty as the praline one!! There is not hit or miss. They were all so good!! If you’re in the neighborhood, make sure you stop by!!
A. G.
Went to a fantastic doughnut making class here! They gave really helpful advice, were happy to answer all our questions and we went home with some great doughnuts and extra dough.
S. L.
'We are the champions, my friennnnds' Doughnuts, Bread Ahead - so good I'm sure I heard them sing🏆🤩
E. V.
Don't miss their Christmas cake next season...nor Juan's coffee anytime!!
T. B.
Best doughnut I have ever had in my life, go for the praline one, you will not be disappointed
A. G.
These are the best doughnuts ever. I'm not exaggerating. I actually think about these doughnuts every day (following them on social media is also a factor of this). We visited Borough Market the first day we were in London and had the Classic Vanilla doughnut. It was so fluffy like a cloud and wasn't too sweet. Simply amazing. We actually went back the next day and purchased 4 more so we could try every flavour. A must when in London.
M. M.
i came here because of a youtube vlogger who exaugurated on how tasty those donuts are, and i spent quite a bit of time to find it and when i finally arrived it was too expensive like £3 per donut and covered with sugar so unhealthy as well. but it was tasty. why i do it again? No definitely not
m. b.
Popped in this morning for a croissant and a sourdough. Olly was able to direct me on the most suitable sourdough for my needs – a small white. Great service. I will be back for sure. Thanks Olly!
F. A.
The best doughnuts I’ve ever had 😋
H. I.
Not bad . But not worth £4.00 each
t. n.
Preferred the salted caramel over the raspberry doughnut. Nice presentation
A. C.
I attended the croissant workshop a while back and it was amazing. I have been trying myself at home for a long time to make those and have never succeeded. However, the dough was already made prior to the lesson (which I feel is the important part of the whole process) but they teach you the folding and rolling.
The bakery also produces really good doughnuts, and they are usually sold out not long after lunch time. They are a must try and I was told that the vanilla is what won them a prize but the other flavours are also really good too!
M. L.
Beautiful people making great Instagram live videos. They helped me getting through UK's Covid lockdown by baking lots of new things I never considered making. Finally managed to go down to the Borough Market shop to buy one of their famously well-known doughnuts (I had the praline one) and it was delicious! I even get to see Matthew and Erika :) made my day!
A. J.
wow where to start. i acquired the almond croissant and chocolate pistachio croissant for a decent price i must say. 1 panic attack later, 2 fantastic croissants devoured, i felt like i was flying. to whoever baked them, I LOVE YOU
J. F.
Great bread courses held here. I went to an English baking afternoon. The host was Manuel and he was fantastic. The cost was pretty steep at £90 but it was a gift from my family so I didn't have to worry about that. There were 12 people on the course and we made 3 types of bread, a farmhouse loaf, a batch of enriched dough buns, and a lardy cake (a sort of fruity loaf). It was a really enjoyable afternoon and I learned a lot. I actually think I might now know how to knead, which I definitely didn't before. Thank you Bread Ahead.
D. M.
the pizza was really nice, American style but for an extra pound, there should of been more spicy sausage then 3 slivers.
apart from that really nice!
D.
Nice pizzas! Very big, pretty tasty
G. S. A.
If you like doughnuts, this is the place, if you don‘t, you will become into a doughnuts lover.
They bake all kind of tasty cakes and deserts, but doughnuts are awesome. The problem, to choose among vanilla, chocolate, strawberry... filling, better one of each
E. C.
Wonderful doughnuts; delicious filings. I also tried an almond croissant, which one of the best I had outside of Paris. Cinnamon buns looked amazing, but I was full up, so I will have it on my text trip, which will be soon. Thank you for a friendly experience and your dedication to baking.
J. L.
Forget Krispy Kreme; Doughnut Time; or Cross Town.
This is the GOAT
T.
Have never taken a class here (though I hope to soon!), purchased one of their books or eaten any of their namesake breads. However, I have had their doughnuts many times.
Are they expensive? Yes, £3 for a doughnut is crazy. Are they the best doughnuts I've ever had? Yes.
Keep an eye out for the seasonal variants, also! At Easter for a day they'll sell a hot cross spiced doughnut, during Wimbledon an Eton Mess doughnut, during Xmas a mince pie inspired doughnut etc...
100% recommendation!
L. S.
A great, authentic place! The doughnuts were yummy, although a bit pricy, but it is definitely worth a try. The staff was lovely too.
M. T.
If we're in London (and the Market is open) we always pick up one of their sourdough loaves. You get a really strong crust that's not crumbly, a loaf that's easy to cut and slice of bread that is really flavoursome. IMHO best bread in London.
m. k.
I forgot name of this donuts!!
But,it was sweet and soft😚
h.
Bread Ahead's vanilla donut is one of the greatest, if not THE GREATEST, desserts I've ever had. It was absolutely divine. Simple perfection. So airy, soft and fluffy, like eating a cloud. It's also not overly sweet, just the right amount, with the most pefect texture. It's easy the number one thing I ate in London.
s. s.
Best doughnuts in London lots of stuffing
J. F.
I went to one of their baking classes and found the instruction to be clear and friendly. I enjoyed myself and went home with a bag full of bread and the confidence to bake more on my own. The breads from their market stand are good. One star off because I find the famous doughnuts overfilled and too sweet, however everyone else seems to love them.
s. s.
s i am on a hunt to taste best donut london has to offer so i decided to visit this place in borough market. Wasn't really impressed as it was just ordinary donuts with sugar coating and flavoured filling which lack full rich taste of mentioned flavour. It tasted just like an ordinary donut from any super store bakery. Tasteless filling and just hand full of sugar coating. Only good thing was presentation. This review is just for donuts as i didn't try any thing else.
C. H.
Definitely the best doughnut in London!!
T. Y.
Delicious donuts that are LOADED with custard or other fillings. They're definitely smaller than other places but they have more exotic and unique flavors (ie honey comb, salted caramel, etc) and you can taste the smooth goodness. Worth the £3.50 I paid.
M. M.
OMG, if you like doughnuts and food markets, you must come here!!!
I've just picked up a couple of boxes of doughnuts. Bread Ahead has four types of creme filled delights all covered in sugar: plain creme, chocolate, salted caramel, and praline. Boxes for four and for 20 are availabe. I went with two times four ... so sensible.
The filling is just right ... rich yet light. And the dough and sugar coating are done to perfection. The perfect balance of creme and dough and sweet.
I like the praline and the pplain creme ... what about you?
A. S.
Follow you nose and the fantastic aroma of bread and doughnuts.
A. H.
Best donuts in London! Lemon curd especially!
l. B.
Best brownies in London, so good !!
A. M.
It's always a treat to stop by the bread ahead stall to check out a new donut filling flavor every now and then
J. F.
Recently attended a croissant workshop here and it was really well taught. Making a croissant takes three days but they did well to get every step of the process into a three hour course.
We were provided with ready made dough for us to laminate (fold in the butter) and shape into Croissants. While the laminated dough was resting we learned how to make the dough itself. Took home a big bag full of about 15 croissants at the end of it.
V. J.
I spent last Saturday on the Bread Bakery Workshop course learning to make bread from scratch using just 4 ingredients (not an E number in sight) and an oven with these very clever people. It is a brilliant course and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I had the most amazing day, learnt so much and once we've eaten all that I made on Saturday, I will be making more and this will be part of my regular weekly routine. I will never have to buy a massed produced loaf ever again, hooray!
E. s.
This place is amazing. not only are the baked goods that you can buy awesome but the courses are so so good. I learnt so much in just the half day Introduction to French Baking workshop that I haven't stopped waxing lyrical about it since! Can't recommend it enough!
M. S.
We end up buying our weakly bread quota when we visit this place and we end up eating most of it the same day. Amazingly tasty and quite not so good when you are trying to not eat too much carb. The staff is very friendly and I will say doughnut and focaccia are amazing.
M. F.
Died and gone to heaven!! I live in SanFrancisco - home of some of the best sourdough around - but these guys knock the spots off Tartine!! I am embarrassed to say I was in such a trance re-living the salted caramel honeycomb donut i had just eaten (“inhaled” might be a better description - so quickly did it disappear!) that I missed my tube stop!! I do make my own sourdough and other breads but I have made my husband promise to book me on a doughnut course when we are in next in town.
S. C.
Delicious - beautiful donuts that aren't overly sweet.
M. J.
I went to the Italian Bread course hosted by Kevin, in a group of 12 people. He was fantastic, and the quality of his instruction and the bread we made together was astounding! Tempted to try some of the other courses they do, and to try a doughnut next time I am in town.
C.
Best pistachio doughnut ever. 🙏
J. s. T. f.
One of the best sourdough bread course I've attended! I've really enjoyed learning all the tricks to bake the perfect loaf! I even got to taste and take it home!!
M. I.
We’ve tried both the olive breadsticks and almond doughnut. Their products are of high quality. The bread was far from dry and well baked. The doughnut was soft and stuffed with almond cream. All in all fantastic products.
H. B.
Inspirational and life-changing baking courses just a croissant’s throw away from London Bridge Station. Take a course here and it will change your life; inspirational teachers, great breads and a brilliant place to learn, to improve and to make new friends. Thinking of chilling out in the Med?… don’t … just go to Bread Ahead.
O. R.
Simply, the most delicious doughnuts. A must do for me every time I visit the Borough Market.
D. M.
Lovely doughnuts made with sourdough
A. L.
I go to the stall (not the bakery itself) every week in Borough Market to buy my bread for the week. The do it all and donuts, cakes, focaccia and sweet breads. Must haves are the salted caramel creme donuts and the cheese and olive bread sticks on the weekend (more fresh). They need to bring back the large white country loaf (the best)! My staples include the fennel loaf (really yum) and the amaretto (huge and goes great with vin santo). Best to check twitter if you want to know what Donuts are on sale as it changes week to week. I also love the earl grey creme with soaked prune... yummm!
M. H.
Great selection of creative treats/doughnuts which I loved but my partner would have loved just a well done plain doughnut also
A. R.
Going to Bread Ahead for a few years now. Love the doughnuts 🍩 enjoy their bread. Even been to a banking course and enjoyed it
M. M.
Probably the best doughnuts I've ever eaten! So fresh and filled to the brim with delicious flavours, tough to pick one. I had the hazelnut filling.
M. A.
Best doughnut ever eat
I. L.
Learnt to make cinnamon rolls in the bakery school!
V. S.
The doughnut bread is really nice. But I think there is too much cream in them which is way too sweet and rich.
S. B.
I see these are billed as the "greatest donuts in the world". I've never had them or even been to London but I'd buy them even if they are not the best in the world because this is the employer of a terrorism hero.
S. P.
Honeycomb and salted caramel doughnut, need I say more? Tasted like a traditional sugared doughnut with a twist to it! Worth waiting in the line for for sure.
L. S.
Olive sticks were really good!!
l.
I had a delicious chocolate donut. It was great but not outstanding.
Next time I’m gonna try some bread. Maybe it’s worth a fifth star afterwards....!
A.
Best traditional style doughnuts going. Try the raspberry jam!
A. L.

Florin Moririu is a legend! He saves people, then he hits crazy knife weilding terrorists over the head with grocery crates. Move over Spiderman, Florin doesn't need a radioactive spider to be a hero! I'm going here when I come to London this summer for sure!

Absolutely amazing bread. Their brownies are also super rich in the best way (can take a couple hours to finish one!)

I got a doughnut with caramel filling. No regret, except for it makes you eat it like a baby.

Florin Moriaru and his colleague Tassa rushed to help fleeing members of the public, hitting one of the attackers with a large plastic bread basket in an effort to stop their stabbing spree.
That'll do for me.
R. R.
The stall sells amazing doughnuts in a variety of flavours but watch out for the bread which seems to be overcooked to point of having burnt crusts
g. p.
What an amazing Bakery. Delicious and no heavy bread and sweets ..
Well done!!!!

(Translated) High but confident donut shop
Salted caramel custard donut £ 3.5 Delicious. The dough is faggy and looks like Misdo
In addition, there are chocolate and basic, but it seemed to be sold out early. Almost never went past 12 o'clock. Eat one while walking. I wanted to eat it all!
However, the size is normal and ¥ 500 per piece is expensive ... it's flour.
It is not too sweet for children and adults. The woman I was selling was a cute girl.

ただし大きさも普通で1個¥500は高いですね…小麦粉だし。
