Reviews of Cable Bakery and Coffee Roasters

Hidden gem in Oval/Kennington, been a few times, mostly at night and the ambience sets it apart. Not so many places open late just for coffee and a pastry (or Pizza!) - Perfect place for a date! Not many places like this left in London.
E. M.
Good and tasty sourdough pizza and other bakery items. During the summer also some outdoors tables on a relatively quiet side street. Very close to Kennington Park so lots of running people.
S. S.
What wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. The pizza was good value for money and sourdough is definitely the way forward. Keen to try their bread next time. Thank you x

Hidden gem in Oval. Great coffee and bread on sale, as well as good pastries. Really cool decor too. A much needed coffee shop for the area!

I had a croassiant and caffuccino yesterday. But I didn’t bring my wallet😖 they said give later when I come here. I felt very thanksful for their kindness. I came here today and paid that then I ordered coffee and croassiant again though they are not working now. I wanna say thanks to them. Great coffee, bread, people💛

Great spot, wish I'd discovered it earlier when I was working in the area! The bacon sandwich and coffee deal can't be beat, they fry up the bacon on the spot and pile it on some nice fresh bread. Staff was always friendly and the other food looked good too.

Top toasties and amazing coffee. Lovely atmosphere with friendly staff

Beautiful spot: crusty organic bread, pastries, home-roasted coffee and local beer in slightly shabby but perfectly cosy décor. The sausage rolls are nice and spicy with flaky pastry, the coffee was strong and the bread has a good heft to it.
Update: I've just tried the pizza and it is amazing, quite easily the best that I've had in London. The staff were really friendly and helpful with managing to accommodate quite a large group of six.

Pretty solid coffee, the hot chocolate though thick and creamy was a bit flavourless. HOWEVER as would be expected the bread is what’s great about this place. Love their sourdough and if you’re out for a walk and want a quick lunch the toasties are next level.

The han and cheese toastie is fantastic. Pastries are delicious (es the cardamom and almond twist) and the coffee is great.
Pizzas are also delicious. A gem in oval!

Nice setting, tasty cinnamon buns and sandwiches, decent coffee. Monosyllabic, borderline rude staff who treat us like a stupid inconvenience. I don't go often, because of the interaction.

I miss cable bakery with a bruise in the knowledge that I will never find a replacement like this one. Things need not be complicated, a coffee and pastry was all it took. But somehow, the flat white and oat milk were made to perfection, never too milky, perfect consistency throughout. And the pain au raisin elevated me to places I had never dreamed of. It took me a little while to learn that I couldn't find respite here on a Monday, but alas, I was not sad, since angels too need rest.

Haven't sat in yet , but usually stop for a coffee and get my bread from here.

This is the best pizza place in the area. Delicious with a perfect slightly crispy base and fresh fresh toppings. I get the Greek pizza - 5 stars
S. h.
Good service, and they have the best ham and cheese toast:)
E. W.
Absolutely awesome place. Amazing pizza, great music, great vibe and really lovely staff. Don’t know why this place isn’t packed, but glad it isn’t so we can keep coming back! Brilliant place for a date night.

Woow!
I was recommended. The cinnamon buns and they were so perky.
A. P.
Amazing little place, good, strong coffee and delicious pastries. Recommended!

Great pizza and cocktails, reasonably priced and very friendly service. Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic salad and vegan pizza. My Friday night treat.

There used to be a good baker here- sadly gone in the last few weeks- and the bread now supplied by a north london bakery is just out of the price range for the neighbourhood. One can still find same quality bread at affordable prices up the road at Borough Market.

Now open longer and intro they evening. This compact, but delightful, coffee house is both bohemian and populist, especially with locals. Tends to be a bit pricey but their bacon or sausage sandwich could easily feed 2.
The staff are competent but unhurried and can occasionally cone across as a little aloof.

We arrived at this spot for a meeting. This place was recommended to us by a friend. Well, we were not disappointed. The staff members welcomed us with a smile and we had an excellent feeling. The meal was delicious. We loved this restaurant a lot and we will visit this place again. Recommended.

Lovely friendly, neighbourhood place, exquisite wine and baked goods and they even gave us a free chai latte 😍

Lovely bread and coffee. Don’t expect quick service (they’re in no hurry). Sometimes they take card payments, other times not (still getting a grip with this digital world we live in). The “business” phone number connects you to what seems to be the owner’s mobile number, so you can’t get answers to current food inventory. Lots of potential to be great if they put themselves in the customers’ shoes.

Best toasties in town! Decent prices.
L. H.
Lovely little cafe with delicious pastries!
S. B.
Wonderful little gem of a cafe in a fairly remote bit of Oval. Very laid back, so be patient, but the coffee is first class and their freshly baked bread is heaven.
F. S.
Tried a focaccia and it was very good.
D. S.
Wow! Great bread, great sandwiches, great drinks. Really nice staff. They're careful with COVID mitigation, too.
k. b.
Friendly staff and lovely focaccia and cake. Will come back to try the Pizza next!
O. B.
Friendly staff and very nicely decorated.
Both toasties and hot drinks were very tasty but overpriced considering the small size.
M. M.
Lovely décor and all the rest. The Cable Café near by and Scooter Bar on Lower Marsh - three of London's most precious gems
T. B.
Pretty slow service, the poor staff seemed really stressed and appeared to have forgotten someones order for a while. Nevertheless, friendly and cute cafe inside.

Friendly and relaxed atmosphere, great food at good prices. Would highly recommend the calzone. Best pizza in the south IMO.
A. R.
Best croissants in town! Also do very nice bread but that's a bit on the pricey side.
F. R.
Somebody said the service is grumpy and curt. Disagree. I think it's gruff and friendly. That should be enough. It used to be before people started to expect every transaction to include being love-bombed .
F. M.
Brilliant coffee, lovely pastries. Pizzas are great too but only available in the evening.
A. A.
One of the best pizzas i've ever had. Great staff, crazy cozy, and not expensive.
Awesome.

The cinnamon bun is genuinely world class (and I've travelled a lot)
P. J.
I love this bakery but jeez, they do need to get their bread names right. I always ask for the same type but I get different one every time.
