Reviews of Jolene Bakery & Restaurant
T. L.
I was on the way to see my beautician and decided to stop off for a bite to eat at Jolene. I loved the food, it was delicious. I had a ginger cake with frosting on top, a coffee and a vegetarian roll with cheese, lettuce and pickled onions. I loved every mouthful! I sat outside on a bench and people watched. UPDATE: I returned to check out the restaurant and the food is fabulous. We ate outside and shared a selection of small plates and my partner had a fish dish. The food is excellent, loved every mouthful!!! It was so good that I wrote a feature for my London Lifestyle Blog!

The focaccia bread was some of the best I’ve had, along with a superb ragu pasta and mozzarella dish. Would certainly come again for their dinner menu. Staff really went out of their way to be friendly and helpful.
I would warn this is more of a wine bar than it is a brunch venue per se. Can’t wait to try the dinner menu as well.
C. A. W.
Lovely spot with a daily changing menu. Small plates were excellent and the tiramisu cake was amazing as well! But the less satisfactory part - cake for takeaway was included in the bill along with service charge.
A. L.
I have been going to Jolene since they opened and Jolene is my #1 favourite spot in London. It is great for dine-in breakfast, lunch and dinner, and their takeaway coffees and pastries are a no brainer good time. They also just cook fish REALLY well (lemon and brown butter sole or cod cheeks anyone?) I’ve enjoyed many a special occasion here and it has been perfect every single time! I bring everyone visiting London here and they are always impressed. We love Joleeeeeeene!
G. L.
Amazing local coffee shop, best coffees by far in the area. Finally had a sit down meal over the weekend and have to say was thoroughly impressed. Delicious sharing plates and super friendly staff. 10/10 would dine again
E. L.
Incredible restaurant. We ordered 5 small plates to share between 2 people and each plate was so original and delicious. One of the best meals we've ever had. The baked goods and coffee in the morning are also excellent.
C. P.
Nice industrial environment and good food. 3 stars because 1) we had a 1 hour 45 minutes booking and they were eager to send us out 1 hour after we arrived. 2) the portions are tiny and overpriced! The pasta portion was literally 3 bites! 3) very few options in the menu.
I. L.
Hipster-filled local cafe offering freshly baked goods and simple meals highlighting their bread. The food is not worth traveling for but the ambiance is nice if you enjoy effortlessly trendy hangouts.

Fantastic experience, great food and really great service! We went as a group of 6, and immediately it was a great atmosphere. The menu changes daily but we tried almost every dish and there was not one we didn’t like- Focaccia, several pasta and gnocchi options, the seasonal roast pumpkin, salted cod, speck, cured meats and pickles, short rib, we then also ordered some desserts to share- it was all wonderful! Very cool wine selection, by glass and bottle. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Book ahead as it’s booked out for quite a while ahead!

Cozy restaurant with women support💪 All waitress are women and they are very polite, caring of the customers. We've tried panisse -maybe a good example but not our type. Artichoke was amazing, I tasted all the flavours in it. And the pasta... Please try Ragu and Ravioli. The sauce of Ragu is just perfect, and Ravioli is kind of Kinder surprise, it will astonish you :) We will come again for sure.
R. A.
Excellent pastries. Good coffee nice buzz and great workers.

Actually just some of the most amazing food ever! I have been here a handful of times and i can truly say that the food just keeps on getting better and better. The staff are also very wonderful !
K.
Delicious menu that changes daily, and lovely ambience for dinner. Dishes are small sharing plates, which means you can try lots of different items. Everything we had was amazing, especially the pastas!
M.
This place is amazing! Great service and atmosphere, delicious food and lots of treats. There is a blackboard menu on the wall updated everyday (at least this is what I assume because there was a date on it) and the walls are painted in earthy colours which hives it a very natural and raw feeling. The outside area is covered with plants and there a few benches available of you want to have your coffee and party under the sun. I think it’s a great restaurant for dates as well 😏 Definitely recommended and I will be going back again 🤤👌🏼

Great spot for morning coffee and Pastries, lunch for small plates or dinner for wine and Great dishes

4.5 to be exact * We went at Jolene to have brunch. 'Minimalistic' menu of small plates yet good quality ingredients. The menu is probably designed for customers that want to have drinks rather than dining, cause most of the dishes were quite salty. A tad expensive as well.
Friendly service, nice vibes and decor.
*Passing the following as feedback: We asked for 2 pieces of cake and a loaf of bread to take away, which was included in the bill along with service charge.
Q. J.
Great brunch! A bit more vegetarians options would be the dream!
D. R.
Silly in and out system, surely it would make more sense the exit and entry to be the other way round?
Meaning the barista could greet and get someone to seat you. The food was spot on, service a bit patchy. Great decor
S. Z.
Wonderful food and ambience, perfect for sharing, and every dish was excellent!
m.
Went for brunch - highly recommend making a reservation. My eggs were great, only giving it four stars though because while tasty they weren’t much different from something that could be done at home. My friend had the eggs with check peas though that were delicious. We also had a great lemon cake for dessert and a delicious kombucha. Overall strong recommendation and hope to be back if I am in the area.
G. R.
Great atmosphere and delicious food.
Was running 10 mins late, due to public transport dramas, then wanted to edit a dish as I’m a fussy vegetarian - nothing was too much trouble. All handled with genuine warmth and care. A true lesson in exceptional hospitality.
Can’t recommend highly enough.
N. N.
Nice place and very friendly staff. Breakfast was solid, but didn't wow me - the coffee was sour and almost not drinkable. But the pastry and cakes were excellent. I would come back just for these!
I. L.
Nice bakery in Newington green. The pastries are freshly prepared there and are simply delicious! The bread is good - don’t miss their cheese sandwiches too! The brunch menu is short but good. It can get really busy on weekends.
A. M.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent food!
The portions are quite small so make sure you order enough!
M. M.
I loved the atmosphere at this restaurant. Beautiful dried flowers, candles, nice music in the background and pleasant smell. The food and drinks were delicious!
T. C.
Can't fault it...! Delicious food, always friendly and attentive staff, lovely location. Love that they mix up the menu often, and that the menu style is sharing plates.
B. H.
What an amazing night. The food was sensational. Im not a cheese lover but the parmesan Tortelline was frankly amazing... However, it's a hard choice as all the other dishes we had were amazing. But I will say the Salted cod was well 😍. Would recommend to all, staff fantastic and service quick. Definitely going back . Good job team!!! Very happy customers!
K. H.
Lovely dinner here - excellent food and wine selection which is good value, great vibes and fab staff
E. C.
Good food (as a treat, for the price) but the coffees are awful which is surprising because Big Jo's is much better. Why do they make coffee so small? It's like an egg cup.
K. T.
I love this place. I've reviewed them before but I really do love them. I'm lucky today to have a working from home day and it's the first time I've come for lunch. The floor to ceiling windows let in so much light on this early spring day. Quiche Lorraine was divine! Light but delicious.
C.
I love this place, it's so fake, pretentious, white and exclusive. I'm not comfortable with poor people around me so this place is perfect for me 😃 Jolene's is so good I can't express my gratitude for their philosophy and practicality of providing a wonderful white enclave haven where people can avoid having to mingle or sit with the many undesirables in London. It's great being able to breakfast, lunch and dinner amongst upstanding middle-class graduates who are centre Left in their politics and are mostly au fait with the views of the Guardian and Observer. Thank you Jolene for allowing me to feel like I'm number one and a fully paid up member of the metropolitan elite. I don't always have time for breakfast, but I grab a quick latte or Americano (depending on my mood) most mornings. See you tomorrow !
v. b.
Only tried some cake slices to take away - really really good and more "special" than what one can usually find around
V. S.
Service is amazing, the value just isn't there. We love Jolene for sandwiches and baked goods and were looking forward to dinner, but the small plates at large plate prices just didn't do it for us. 70 pounds for two w/ a single glass of wine feels excessive...especially when we had to go get a snack afterwards. Exceptional food, would just recommend going only somewhat hungry unless you are a light eater!
A. R.
Great food, fantastic service and ambience.
A work friend recommended Jolene and because we live close by, we thought we would give it a go. A week before our evening booking, we decided to walk down during the day to grab a pastry and coffee to see what it was like. Firstly, there was a queue down the street, which is always a good sign. Secondly the pastries were INCREDIBLE. We had a mix of sweet and savoury, but make sure you get there early as the favourites sell out quickly. This made us super excited for our booking.
Ok so on to the dinner. From the second you walk in, the ambience is lovely. Dim, warm lighting and candles (very hyggelig). We were looked after by Jamie who talked us through the menu and provided some great recommendations. We were advised to get a couple of small plates and a couple of larger plates - and it was exactly the right amount. Everything we had was delicious and reasonably priced. We had the focaccia, speck and fried polenta small plates and two plates of pasta (Pesto and a venison ragu). The menu changes each night, so there’s plenty of reason to go back.
Will definitely be going back and would absolutely recommend.
E. S.
Coffee is really good (although limited selection of non dairy milks unfortunately). We were somewhat disappointed with our dinner here a week ago - had huge expectations from all the hype but the food wasn’t quite up to expectations!! Hope to go back and try again but the food options weren’t great. Service was good though!
J. E.
Absolutely delicious caramelised apple and custard danish! Also a very pleasant flat white.
N. V.
Had amazing food here for dinner. Also love this place for pastry/cake on the weekend!
D. R.
Great coffee and very cool feel. The sausage rolls are a joy to behold!
D. M.
Objectively the food is very good. But it’s also too expensive and self-regarding. Sadly, several of the dishes did not impress. One was bland, two were far too salty. The rest were delicious. The manager was rude, but the waiting staff were lovely - they are not to blame. It’s on the cusp of excellence but disappoints - maybe try Perilla over the road instead.
M. M.
Fabulous pastries, that change day to day, which you can see via their instagram. If you see a queue, don't bail I can tell you it's definitely worth the wait!
I have dined in for brunches and dinners, all are always amazing the food is fantastic and the interior is beautiful. A couple of us once went in just for a coffee and ended up with brunch and multiple pastries, everything is irresistible you won't want to leave.
D. G.
Amazing ambiance, great food and excellent service. Can’t go wrong
B. S.
I’ve only had the opportunity to try their baked goods and let me just say… wow… i’ve gone for a plain simple treat in life of a ham and cheese croissant and it was by far the best i’ve ever had! The flakiness of the croissant was superb and there is a distinctive butteriness to it. Very different from your cheap margarine or oil based croissants that you will eat in most places in london. Try it ! You will not regret it!
C. M.
Great baked goods, worth the price. Lovely food as well. The wine and other additions to food are over priced, in the opinion of friends and I, but i kewp returning for everything edible. Staff are really friendly as well. The queue is quite long during lockdown though and supply is limited, so go early.
S.
Excellent breakfast pastry selection including sausage rolls, nduja and honey morning bun and cookies! Fresh mint tea and juices also available. Great spot for breakfast
K. M.
Staff were amazing. Knowledgeable about the coffee and generous with their cakes.
S. M.
Absolutely fab bakery and coffee spot serving up a banging selection of pastries, cakes, sandwiches and pizza by the slice. V popular on the weekend so expect to queue a little while. Worth the wait for all the delicious things on offer.
D. K.
They forget to update opening hours. Google says they are open but they are closed. Good croissants generally though.
E. K.
Superb lunch on Saturday 10th July; service was excellent as always. The menu was varied and all dishes we tried were excellent. We will be back.
A. C.
Honestly it was absolutely phenomenal. The first meal out after lockdown and it was everything we could’ve wanted.
The food was incredible, the service lovely, and it was a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend Jolene. Absolutely brilliant.
C. R.
New design and concept, daily menu and delicious pastries. Same chefs as Western Laundry and Primeur.
C. S.
We enjoyed an incredible Saturday lunch at Jolene - delicious. The service, food and atmosphere was excellent. Highly recommend!
N. C.
Great bakery, lovely location, nice fresh food, nice service
c. m.
Jolene is a real good place to have an excellent plate of quality food, cook simple and excellent. I like the decoration so much, simplicity and solid walls. The pastries and breads are spectacular. Coffee real good but too small for breakfast even if I like the style of the cups. I did not enjoy the part that waitress brought me the bill without asking for it. I would appreciate a more honest and direct approach, like: you finish your breakfast get out of here!! Not really.
J. A.
One of my all time favourite restaurants. Great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Or just a coffee and cake. Always good service, always lovely food. Ever changing menu, you can’t get bored. I bring my friends and family here whenever I can. Such a local gem.
L. B.
Had SUCH beautiful dinner here for a friends birthday. The service was friendly, helpful and efficient offering great advice and information about the menu and wine. Cant wait to go back. Ambiance was calm and relaxed, only shame was having to have the front door open due to COVID but understand this is not under their control.
J. B.
I have delivered fresh vegetables to Jolene over recent months and what a total pleasure it has been. The staff are so amicable, smiley and engaging and having visited and delivered to many of London's best haunts Jolene stands out to me. I have had the luxury of tasting the majority of London's best pastries but Jolene's pain au choc / croissant are hands down no questions asked the best in the biz. Pure class. Plus they have the kindness to give me a free coffee and this touch makes my day (when I'm delivering that is - otherwise I'm doing way cooler stuff promise ;). I look forward to taking my future girlfriend (name/identify - tbc) here for supper as the food looks incredible and I can confirm they source the best more authentic ingredients the UK has to offer. Happy Christmas everyone and in the new year do yourselves a favour and go to Jolene. Happy days guaranteed. Peace and love Jack x
L. B.
Amazing food, beautiful space and lovely service. Sadly this place isn’t great for people with hearing problems or deafness. The acoustics are rubbish! Please try something like putting foam under the tables to make it more accessible!
J. E.
The bread is good, but considering the local competition, the prices in general feel very high. E.g. if you're happy with a short walk and can stomach the infamous attitude of the staff, Dusty Knuckle does a decent loaf for less.
The most offensive prices are actually on the sandwiches and cakes/pastries. I tried 3 cakes on different occasions before realising they're just never good enough to justify the £4.
All in all, it's good, but I feel they need a bit of a reality check on what the food is worth
K. C.
The level of service is amazing. Our waitress, Matilda, was extremely kind and knowledgeable, making the overall dining experience top notch.
K. W.
Lovely ambiance and great to see loads of veggie options
Food was a bit inconsistent
G.
Tried some pastries and I like the danish a lot ! One of the best bakery place in London
P. J.
Cafe during the day with great selection of homemade pastries and bread. Wine bar in the evening with delicious seasonal food. Bonus: dogs are always welcome and the coffee is brilliant!
E.
Easily the best pain au chocolat I've ever eaten in my life. Chewy and crispy at the same time. What is this magic?? Gave me literal goosebumps. Great coffee and customer service too.
M. “. A.
Simple food, done beautifully. Friendly staff. Clean & interesting design. We shared 2 small plates, a pasta, and a large plate which with a bottle of wine was the perfect amount. My only quibble is the menu on the wall--it's a bit awkward having to stand next to someone's table to choose from upwards of 12 options! Otherwise, terrific. We'll be back.
B. S.
Good quality and very tasty, but portions are tiny and coffees are minute. Fine if your not hungry and need a snack and a small coffee but maybe not if you're starving. This was lunch - dinner may be different. Staff were nice too.
B. L.
Warning expect long queues. Also all patisseries get sold out by 930 in the morning the server advised. So for you to get morning patisseries you need to be queuing at 850. Coffee was London standard but not worth the waiting the 30 minutes we waited for cake and sandwich. The que was an about an hour when we left. Mental!!
K. J.
Overall experience was OK, but would not return. We had a 9:15pm reservation and were asked to order immediately upon being seated. Everything from the service to the food was rushed and it completely ruined the experience. All of our food came at once and inevitably it all got cold as we were trying to catch up. They are only licensed until a certain time, so they simply shouldn't allow people to make reservations after 8:30pm. Food was fine, pasta very fresh. Service was not up to par for London prices.
A. L.
My fav restaurant in all of London. Ace for dinner - best mood lighting, wine selection and dessert. Excellent for brunch too, homemade pastries and delicious choices, (try the kombucha). A different vibe day and night which keeps me coming back. Between the excellence in food and the stunning interiors - they have just nailed atmosphere.
M. H.
Fantastic bakery even when they just about to close they help out and very helpful. Thank you to the two ladies that helped me out. 👌
L. T.
This place is one of my favourite bakeries in London! They make amazing pastries, and always serve with a smile on their faces. Always worth the queue!!
a. b.
Intimate cosy space and delicious food. Service generally really friendly although we were hassled a little about ensuring we left on time for the following reservation. Other than that zero complaints. The quail is excellent.
A. H.
I've given it a go a few times now and it's a solid 3 stars, for somewhere I was expecting to be a 5.
Lovely fit out and nice staff.
Opens at 9am, an hour too late.
Pastries although good, are too pricey. And not as good as pophams.
The coffee is really not good, and has put me off ever ordering a coffee there again. Dandy used to have some of the best coffee in London.
I struggle to find something I want to order on the brunch menu, that isn't something I could easily make at home.
Dinner options are solid but not great and portions are small.
At the moment it's a restaurant that tries at being a cafe, hopefully that changes.
J. S.
Jolene is the what I dream of for a neighbourhood restaurant. Lovely lunch options, incredible pastries and baked goods, and fantastic hand-made pasta and heartier dishes in the evening. The service is friendly and relaxed, and the atmosphere is a special balance of comforting and refined.
C. R.
Had a tip from a friend for this place and it delivered! We sat up at the bar and kindly asked our server what she would order. We followed her genuine and very helpful recommendations and had a fantastic array of food and some lovely wine. It’s a great place for dinner but also would recommend going for drinks and snacks or a coffee in the day.
D. Q.
I went for a Friday dinner with my boyfriend, it is perfect for a casual but romantic meal. I really enjoyed everything: the range of food, the quality of the dishes (simple-ish dishes executed well), the atmosphere and the service. It was really refreshing to have normal food - pasta ragù, chicken with toasties and aioli - be done to a really high standard.
We each had three courses and drinks for just over £100, so it is not a cheap option.
The only quibble: the salads/leaves were a little over-dressed for my taste, to the point of finding them oily.
P. C.
Great food. Friendly and competent staff. Lovely atmosphere. It’s now one of my favourite places in London.
S. H.
We went for an evening meal on Sunday and were really impressed. The staff were all friendly. We had anchovies and garlic bread to start and the latter was the best garlic bread I’ve tasted in my whole life! It wasn’t so much the bread but just that it was completely soaked in butter with just the right amount of garlic. I don’t drink and had a spiced lemon cordial, which was delicious (I saw some reviews suggesting there was only coffee by way of soft drinks, so maybe this is new). We had ravioli and then onglet for main, which was absolutely cooked to perfection. I don’t write many reviews but felt absolutely compelled to. We thought it was a really good find.
T. L.
Dad says 'Great bespoke bread'. Mum says 'Overhyped fashion sourdough with crust like a tiled roof'. You decide which you agree with!!
R. W.
The staff were very friendly and polite. The rum and raisin cake was genuinely brilliant. But the flat white was disappointing and more like a white americano no silky milk and it was far too hot - for £2.80 I think it’s fair to expect a very good coffee. But this is their first week and the employee making the coffee was obviously getting showed the ropes.
j. p.
Lovely coffee, super friendly staff! Thanks
G. H.
Loved this place! I had been to westerns laundry and Primeur and this might just be my favourite. Great atmosphere and very tasty food. The menu isn't too big so you're not overwhelmed, but even then, it's hard to choose as everything sounds so good.
The pasta is like silk, fill your boots.
W. H.
TL;DR - Love this place, will be back for certain.
Am sat in the restaurant as I'm entering this.
All staff have been polite and attentive, and upon letting them know its my first visit they've explaining how they do things, feel very welcome.
Ordered pork belly with capers and other bits, I asked if it'd be enough on its own. Was suggested that I might want a second plate if I'm very hungry, but instead chose to just order something afterwards if still hungry.
My lord it was awesome. The quality and the intensity of flavour has filled me right up. And I'm a big guy with a big appetite.
Can't wait to come back again, next time with others and hopefully for dinner service.
G. H.
Sincerely kind and attentive service from workers who are genuine and enthusiastic. Jolene serves products that are well thought out and executed perfectly - delicious. A heartwarming visit every time.
L. C.
I would say a work in progress - it has that new sheen to it and the edges are still apparent - the technique for the baking is first rate but care needs to be given to the water to bind with the flour. Other than this, a lovely and exciting place for refreshment
G. &. M. B.
Friendly low key place. We visited with friends. Sharing and small plates The pasta dish we had was wonderful. Some of the other dishes were not absolutely brilliant, but the overall meal was very good. It was a shame that three dishes from the menu were sold out, which seemed to suggest poor management of the menu.
S. L.
Nothing particularly spectacular or particularly shocking. Prices are more or less average. Nice enough.
Decent ham and cheese pastry thing on offer which is nice as most places like this do not do savoury pastries at all.
J. S.
Not a cheap dining experience but went there with this in mind. Ordered all the pasta dishes and the polenta as starters, had the beef with bearnaise for a main and the pumpkin side. Everything was beautifully cooked and the beef in particular was exceptional. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and the apple crumble. The bill for three of us including a bottle and a carafe of wine came to £60 each and we were stuffed. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive. Highly recommend.
C. M.
Great new spot for everything. Fantastic menu at a reasonable price. Amazing bread to take away. Only slight draw back is the cakes are a bit too expensive: small brownie £4 takeaway for example but this is a minor point.
A. K.
You have a lovely breakfast menu. It would be a 5 star review if I wouldn't have to order from it at 2pm though. I'd expect a proper lunch-dinner one at that time. Or at least being able to choose.
A. M.
Delightful service it made the experience 5 stars. Weekend is super busy so I recommend booking. Even though every table was full the service was superb and the food out fast. The quiche was one of the best I have had, the creamy texture and flavour OMG.
E. D.
Bakewell tart + flat white made my day during lockdown 2.0.
L. F.
Have been here twice and whilst I think the food is great there are a couple of reasons I only gave it 3 stars. The cakes are way to expensive, £4.50 for a slice is just over the top. Also all the cakes are out on the shelf where all the customers stand so lots of chance for bugs to find their way to them. They also put salt into a bowl on your table so we said we wanted a grinder as didn't want to put our fingers into the salt that lots of others do but they said no they throw away all the salt after each customer. Now thats a real waste of resources...just saying
D. L.
If you like a fried egg, this is the place to go, if you like an egg of any other variety forget it. I asked for the option of a boiled or scrambled egg for my 5 year old and it was a categorical no. I on the other hand had fried egg on toast, I naively thought it might have been a little more than two eggs on one slice of toast for £6, perhaps it was fried in unicorn tears. The selection of pasties were pretty non existence by lunch time which was disappointing as I left starving and they’d run out of ingredients for a house juice too.
At least the bathroom smelt nice.
N. B.
Very lovely restaurant with good bread and patisserie.
Stuff is always happy and smiling.
Food is changing almost everyday so they will always surprise you with something (like kambucha which I didn't expect to have there).
Remember to book especially at weekends bfast/luchn/dinner cause they can be quite crowdy and you dont want to be disappointed but they will always try to make arrangements to squeeze you in.
The garden is quite funny arranged but they have a lot of sun!
M. R.
Food is great, staff can be a little pretentious which dims the light a little. Maybe it was a bad day last time is visited. Great that it’s on my doorstep
P. R.
Exquisite place. Simple menu with strong "Mediterranean influences", great products and nice cooking touches. Good selection of wines and excellent bakery. Bread and butter to nibble on was delicious, accompanied by a nicely light vermut. My fried eggs with nduja on toast were just to die for! I could have had a dozen! Menu changes on a daily basis, nice to keep coming back. Industrial + povera like interior plays well on their simple yet sophisticated approach to food and ambience... Location, Newbury Gardens, is great. I love their Instagram hand written menu. Great concept.
M. C.
Lovely place and food but a tad expensive for what it is. Breakfast menu could do with a bit more choice.
M. M.
Great neighbourhood place in a cozy location for a lunch, brunch, coffee or a snack - service is great and food is delicious.
The cheese toastie is a delight of cheesy bechamel (with ham for those that like that) and parties/salads are fresh and yummy. And the bread and butter are just right.
R. S.
Great food and service, however I was disappointed because only full cream milk is used.
Many people have difficulty digesting cows milk and gluten.
PLEASE Jolene add a soy milk option to go with your delicious coffee and the odd friand for those who don’t digest gluten.
R. B.
We went for dinner and the place is really cute, the atmosphere is perfect for a quite night. Food is awesome but expensive, and the plates are quite small. Service is really good and I still wanna go back to try the brunch.
G. G.
I absolutely love Primeur and Jolene's carries on the tradition of pricy but excellent food, this time with decent coffee and fab fresh baked bread. A great spot for breakfast or lunch - I'm yet to try the dinner menu.
N. D.
Delicious baked goods, food generally and super staff. Love!

They gave the Mrs a free slice of cake as it was her birthday. Very friendly staff and delicious coffee.
T. F.
The food is delightful and fresh. They also make their own bread/pastries which are amazing. The soups are usually very tasty as well.
F.
The 5 stars are just because your super expensive pastry is also the best pastry I've had. Otherwise it would be a 4. :) Hype, they say.. but the pastry is phenomenal. Judge by yourself if 3.5£ for a pain au chocolat are worthy or not.

It’s an odd one. I really enjoyed Jolene and the food was delicious but it’s unlikely I’ll be returning anytime soon.
Between the 3 if us we polished off most of the starters on the menu but none were remarkable, only the artichokes draped in lardo can be remembered.
The 2 pastas were on the rather small side portion wise, even for 1 person they were
Small. The pappardelle shone over the two, but again.
The main sharing dish of the pork loin was ok and actually was a good size considering what had come before.
Hats off to the desert chef. The choux bun and baked custard were sublime.
Is it sad for a restaurant that the desserts stole the show. Maybe, maybe not.
I’ll be returning to Primeur and hoping to try Western Laundry soon, but Jolene not again for quite awhile.
J. B.
Lovely place and the menu is simple but amazing. Great service and waiters very helpful. Will definitely be back again

I really wanted to like Joelene but after a few visits, it has fallen short of the mark.
Hours: the hours are ridiculous, who opens a coffee shop/bakery at 9am? I find myself forgetting it's not open more often than not and end up buying coffees from Lizzie's on the Green.
Breakfast starts at 10am. The target market might be WFH laptop creatives but surely this is limiting. When "breakfast" IS served, it's good quality, simple food that I can't complain about. There are not many options and despite being tasty, the dishes don't require skill to assemble. This confuses the 10am breakfast start further.
Coffee: The coffee is average at best and lacks consistency. They have all of the equipment but in the 4+ times I've been there, they seem to have a different front of house member make them each time rather than one skilled specialist. It's a roll of the dice if I'll be spending £3+ on a burnt coffee or not and having the more consistent Lizzie's on the Green seconds away, it's hard to make an argument to go to Joelene just for coffee.
Pastry: it's decent but not Pophams.
Once the hype dies down, things might change but until then, it's a'ight but it's gonna be a no from me dawg.
J. M.
Really nice bakery. Love their coffees as well. You should visit if you're around the area.
M. T.
Great food and some really interesting wines. Came back for brunch with the kids on the weekend and they loved it. A great addition to the neighborhood. Will have to try their other restaurants now.
Y. M.
You have to try Jolene's hot chocolate – it's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
P.S. And I love their Flat White with a Rhubarb Danish.
K. B.
Queue can be quite big but the food is amazing, their sausage rolls and lovely and their coffee is great.
C. T.
Beautiful food. Staff are the friendliest I've ever met. Sitting at the bar both times with in minutes of turning up without a booking.
L. S.
There's a long queue and the customers can be quite rude but the food is very fresh and the people here are very nice. It's very clean and comfortable inside and a lovely place to have lunch
A. B.
Had a great salad for breakfast, the space looks beautiful though you can only sit outside right now. The staff was kind and welcoming.
T. Z.
3 stars: 5 stars for the baked goods, -0.5 for the price, -0.5 for how difficult it is to get to them and pay for them and -1 for the fact that they open at 9 am everyday so it's impossible to actually get a pastry in the morning if you have a full time job. Missed opportunity.
T. S.
Was treated to some apple cake its was yummy. Moist and soft. I am now a fan of Jolene.
J. W.
Amazing. Great food, wonderful atmosphere, fantastic service. Hard to sum up a lovely little eatery in a Google review but in short I'd say it was a perfect date night
Y. S.
Beautiful place, chilled yet polished atmosphere, lovely staff and good food. Great for breakfast, lunch as well as dinner. A really welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
R. G.
Lovely food. Spoke to an interesting Austrian chef, very knowledgeable about the food and gave us a great meal. Gave off that BDE.
F. A.
Enjoyed my visit the food service coffee all great. Nice selection of takeaway pastries and bread too. Definitely good place for brunch. The curried spinach egg crumble was unique.
Y. L.
Excellent. The bread, the starters, the mains, the desserts, the wines.
Such a cosy place, with great customer service. I have to come back!
J. W.
Lovely small dishes, with a few larger mains. Just make sure you get a sourdough loaf added to your bill for when you get home!
E. B.
Perfect place to spend the evening.
D. G.
Beautiful place, delicious food and coffee!
j. h.
Being honest the coffee is nothing special. I went there once and have never had any thought of going back. I live locally but would rather go elsewhere for a coffee.
V. A.
Amazing food, really nice ambience and interior design. Cool place for a weekend brunch and dinner. 100% recommended

Such a heartwarming place. There is nothing better than stop at Jolene for a lunch, cup of coffee, buy a bread and some pastry and make yourself a beautiful day.
F. A.
My favorite place for lunch, everything they bake is good. And the coffee is good too.
K. A.
Great place for meeting friends. Good coffee and varied menu. A little noisy (and busy)

I genuinely think if Jolene closed down, the real estate prices would drop. That’s all I gotta say.

Great atmosphere and fried eggs was very good. But the rest of the meal was so so.

Staff was super friendly and service was great! We loved the relaxing vibe inside. It is a bakery before 12 and both a restaurant and bakery after 12. Not sure if the fact that it was a Sunday, but most of their bakes are already gone by 12! Their menu changes everyday so you will always be surprised! They use flour within 18 hours of milling which helps retaining nutrients of the bakes. We ordered focaccia and it was FRESH - soft, warm, chewy, lightly seasoned with seasalt. Would also recommend the mutton chops which were perfectly cooked and almonds were slight toasted served with the sweet and sour mint sauce! You can also order coffee/tea to go! Such a sweet move. Will come back again!
M. N.
They truly understand what makes excellent pastries - in particular the fruit-filled ones. I’d say on par with Belle Époque, just a different style. Highly recommended!

(Translated) Bread made from homemade wheat is wonderful. When you order something other than a sandwich, you should add bread. The sweets on the table are also exquisite, so it's good to eat a little after eating. In fact, it seems to be a shop where you can enjoy wine.
