Wow, what a lovely experience I had yesterday at the Horsebox bakery. After an afternoon of kayaking on the river in the baking sun, I arrived just as the gentleman had closed and was clearing up. But he was so wonderfully kind and nothing was too much trouble for him rustling up some delicious ice cold home made lemonade and some leftover cakes. I have to say that the cake was quite possibly the best cake I have ever eaten! And to top it off he gifted the cake so it didn’t go to waste. We will be back, especially as my husband is desperate to try the pie after tasting the cake! Perfect cake and the perfect gent! What a combination!

Delicious cake and the best iced coffee you could ask for. Nigel is incredibly friendly- we love coming here after a paddle down the river!

Have been here a couple of times now after a river walk with our greyhounds . Always a cherry welcome and the cakes are a wonderful way to finish.
A must vist

Delicious coffee, cakes and pastry served by a wonderful, welcoming team in a lovely setting down by the river. Definitely worth a visit rain or shine.

Really luxurious sumptuous pastries pies and cakes. Not a corner cut or ingredient withheld. Lovely friendly safe service. My whole family has been regular customers for several months now and we all really look forward to the treat.

Fabulous little bakery and coffee spot right by the river, perfect refreshment stop!

We moved to Wateringbury around a year ago and have been ‘very’ regular visitors to the Horsebox Bakery since day one.
Super friendly people and always helpful and chatty.
The cakes, and savouries, are awesome. It’s difficult to resist temptation in buying too much.
My morning favourite has to be the Maple and Bacon pastry, then the banoffee cake. However their breakfast rolls are awesome, especially heated up for one minute with a fried egg thrown in for good measure, this combo can’t be beaten.
I like how they change the coffee regular as it’s like a mini ‘coffee club’ and you get to try some great varieties.

A unique and pleasant little snack and beverage stop off. We love our Sunday strolls along the Medway to THB. Thoroughly recommend it 😃

Friendly proprietor and awesome cheesecake. Great stop after a walk. Also nice music.

The cakes, pies, savouries and pastries served up at the Horsebox are amazing. All washed down with good coffee and Nigel and Lauren’s service. There is no better start to the weekend than a coffee, one of Hannah’s croissants and the view of the river.

Great coffee, amazing cakes and a lovely river view. Nigel is always offers a warm welcome and Hannah is such a talented baker. Definitely recommend you give it a try.

An excellent idea that has been delivered in the most perfect way.
Just walking up to the horsebox you get that feeling that something special is about to happen. (The sort of feeling you get at Christmas). It feels special, and you hope that its going to deliver and boy does it deliver.
The selection for such a small horsebox is immense. From savoury to sweet its covered. I dare you to visit and not find what your looking for.
Maple syrup and bacon danish... where have you been all my life?!
To top it off the service is wonderful, the location is picture perfect and the flavours are better than you can imagine.
You can even order via the wonders of technology and collect.
There has been a lot of sadness over the past 2 yrs, but with local businesses like this popping up, the future is a better place.
May the baking continue...

I have been a regular customer now for nearly a year. I discovered this gem during the pandemic, and I have not looked back since. Being French, I was looking for an artisan baker for some time, I stopped looking when I found the Horsebox Bakery. I never cease to be amazed by the variety on offer. Everything they do is delicious. It is clever, fun, Hannah does not hesitate to put her own twist to the classics and it works ! Pistachio infused creme pattisiere in an almond croissant, who would have thought it works ? But it does ! Simply brilliant ... Hannah is super responsive to suggestions, and even added my all time favorite onto their menu: proper chocolate eclair (the French way, i.e. with a chocolate creme pattisiere filling: divine !). Cinnamon buns, cruffins ... And she combines it all with a very tasty savory menu (her pies are just superb !) ... All of it, sold in Nigel's brilliantly converted horsebox, by the river .... What more do you want? You order via email during the week, pick it up at the weekend - often I get extras (simply because I cannot resist the range of coffees on offer, so what better way than with a croissant on the go ?) ... In a word, the Horsebox Bakery is what every bakery should be like !

Nigel and Hannah's cakes are simply DELICIOUS! Always a different special on offer or something new to try. Super spot by the river too with a seat to enjoy a freshly made latte, cooler or cup of tea to wash it all down 😍
Wonderful service I would highly recommend popping here on a walk along the river!

Pros: Lovely staff, good prices and food tastes great
But
Cons: Twice on two different occasions we found hair in the food. So it’s really put us off now, which honestly is a real shame! Did mention it on a visit and just got a “oh okay”

Have just had the most gorgeous bakewell tart. Never had a better one. The quiche was lovely and the custard tart and blueberry and lemon muffin we had yesterday were fabulous. What amazing baking. Well done x

Absolutely delicious bakes!
Its become somewhat a Saturday tradition to visit Hannah and Nigel and their lovely converted horsebox. Always happy and smiling despite the weather occasionally being less than favourable!! Our orders are getting larger and larger with so much to choose from! I was immediately transported back to my childhood with brilliant flavour combinations (Belgian Bun a personal favourite)
Jammy dodgers and donuts are sure to be a big hit this Saturday...
Just leaves one question... when are you opening a shop so I can get baked goods all week ;)

Have been going here since it started it just gets better and better. It is so good to promote local business, local people who care about the food they produce. Too many favourites to mention really, my personal the sausage roll, looking forward to the mince pies 🥧

Gill and I have just had the pleasure of tasting this weeks 'Special' from the Horsebox Bakery, the Mississippi Mud Pie. My word it was yummy! Lovely rich chocolate taste, perfect texture and topped of with chocolate custard and whipped cream. Another winner from Hannah and Nigel, we'll be back at the weekend for more!

Great food, I love the scotch eggs and pies, the cakes are delicious too, we always buy extra pies to take home to put in the freezer for a quick dinner later in the week, Hannah and Nigel are delightful always welcoming at their little spot buy the river.

Have had the absolute pleasure in being there from creation into fruition of this wonderful new business, from taste tests to regular customer, highly recommend whether you have a sweet, savoury (or like me, both) tooth.
Lucky enough to try the newest creation this week, Raspberry and chocolate cheesecake is stunning, lovely flavours that work so well together, sweet, bitter, fresh and the crunchy base, thank you for the early taste test 😊

Literally the best cakes I've ever had! Hannah and Nigel are absolutely brilliant and their baked treats are the highlight of our week!!
Thrilled to support this amazing local business and we wish you every success, you deserve it!!

We love the Horsebox Bakery! Hannah is a fabulous baker and produces such delicious savoury and sweet delights!
We have recently tried the new (and huge) Horsebox Bakery version of a Wagon Wheel and a Jaffa Cake which were both typically mouthwateringly awesome. We visit every week and are never disappointed. Highly recommended.

We've been customers of The Horsebox Bakery for a good couple of months now, and we've been impressed every week!
There's something very special about homemade local treats like those at the HBB, and with lockdown it has been a particular highlight of our week to be able to go and collect our goodies and have a chill weekend.
Comfort food at it's finest. Fresh, made with love and very reasonably priced.
I recommend getting your pre-orders in though, they've become very popular as of late and trust me, you don't want to miss out!

Have recently moved to the area and discovered this hidden gem! Both the savoury and sweet treats are an absolute delight. Big shout out to the Sausage roll with Chilli Jam and Scotch Eggs which have cemented me as a regular from now on! Was also lucky enough to test this week's Bourbons and was blown away by the white chocolate ganache. 5 stars!!

You know when you're onto a winner when you hear about how awesome something is by word of mouth. That's how we were lucky too come across this diamond in the rough, and trust me, this diamond shines very very brightly. It's one of those takeaway bakery dining experiences where you could say less is much much more, for instance all their takeaway pies, pastries, savouries, tray bakes and cakes are pure signature and big on flavors. You could blindfold me and do the pepsi challenge on me and i could tell the difference between a Horsebox Bakery made item and anything else because Horsebox is genuinely is a cut, miles and miles above the rest and in a distinctive class all of its very own. From their veggie and non veggie sausage rolls, Quiches, veggie pies and salmon and leak pies to their chocolate caramel toffee shortcake bars, chocolate brownies and chiabatta breads, even their scotch eggs and veggie scotch eggs everything was 1000% top draw, and i could tell that because every bite, every mouthful was a taste bud awakening discovery litrally leaving us wanting more and more. Yesterday we ate deep deep filled veggie pie and salmon and leak pie and it was delicious and all gone in minutes. Each mouthful, like everything that comes out of the Horsebox kitchen was flavorsome and incredibly tasty. Today we were lucky enough too sample Hannah and Nigel's take on the good old wagon wheel and jaffa cake and what an honour and a delight it was to sample them. Like everything produced by the team at Horsebox, they take an idea and a recipe, give it a Horsebox bakery twist and make it their very own. All i can say is, like everything they make, the samples of their take on these old favorites were not only miles and miles better than the originals, they were so delicious and tasty, again we were left wanting more and more and more. At Horsebox you can tell everything cooked and baked by them has been lovingly homemade, hand crafted, refined and perfected and they really take genuine pride in their work. You can tell this by the genuine looks and smiles of joy from their loyal patrons of which we are now a grateful part of. Food and the blending of flavors with this crew is a work of pure art. Trust me when I say, i have never tasted anything, anywhere as amazing as the Horsebox Bakery menu. We would literally boycott everywhere else and only buy from them if we could. You have too try them, I promise you'll be incredibly glad you did and I also promise you won't be disappointed, because you'll be going back for more again and again and again.

Highlight of my week is to pick up a bag (or two) of goodies from the Horsebox. The croissants are delicious, the muffins are moist and full of flavour and the meat pies are the best I ever tasted. Please don’t try them - as that makes less for me ... :). A little box of joy as far as I’m concerned !!

Hannah and Nigel are the nicest people and everything from their bakery is amazing! They even do vegan brownies, and you'd never be able to tell they were vegan. Lovely local business.
