Reviews of Greenway Bank Country Park
E. J.
We are always walking here. Fab walk with some flat areas and some up hill. The walk goes around the reservoir and can get alittle muddy this time of year so I recommend wellies or boots!
A nice place to feed the ducks or spot some squirrels.
J. L.
Lovely peaceful country park (but is was a Friday in February). Nice walk round the reservoirs. Can't comment on the visitor centre as it was shut, but the loos were open and very clean, with hot water too. Would definitely recommend a visit.
K. C.
Lovely place for a walk when it's not too busy.
t. n.
The bathroom closes at 4 and the caffee does not open late. Check the times before going. The waterfall is way more accessible by the resevoir. It is beautyfull but plan properly. Lacks maps of the place around or on a website. You should go anyway.
M. A. G.
Beautiful, nature, sound of birds, not a motorway.... amazing atmosphere, will come back again!
A. J. P.
Super peaceful place to enjoy with family.
m. g.
One of the hidden gems of the Potteries, a great place to unwind and walk among the trees, chill and listen to the sound of the birds, take in some lovely views of the of Knypersley reservoir, relax and maybe even have a picnic. But saying that, there is a cafe by the carpark if you time it right.
The walk all the way around is approximately 8.75 miles in length and includes some inclines/declines, stiles, steps and uneven terrain, plus some parts may be a bit muddy after rain but you well feel better for it.
If you decide to visit, then I strongly recommend you don't attempt to go all the way around if you are in poor health, wheelchair user, or even have a child's buggy with you, because you will find it very challenging.
This area covers around 114 acres and once was all part of the Knypersley Estate, with a grand Hall that is now demolished and once had the notable Sir William Bowyer MP residing there for part of its history, which is another story.....
This land also includes Serpentine Lake, Knypersley reservoir, some really nice quite woodland walks, a Children's play area and a visitor centre, with toilets.
Lovely place to visit on a nice day, when you've got time to kill 👍
D. B.
Lovely place to visit a little hilly in parts small playing park for children tea and coffee available with snacks toilets open gortens well and two cascades to see no swimming or boating of any sort allowed .
A. F.
Lovely walk through native woodland and around reservoir. Path to waterfall and an old well. Slippery underfoot and some steep parts, so boots recommended. Only have a van for drinks and cakes due to Covid restrictions. Toilets are open until 4pm.
H. M.
Enjoyed a lovely walk here today and will definitely be back.
R. M.
Lovely walk. Definitely going back!
I. P.
Fantastic place for a walk with or without dogs.
Lovely and clean, very picturesque. Plenty of seats along paths. Free parking. 10/10
J. L.
One of the best country parks I have visited. There is good parking, clean restroom facilities , excellent walking trails, and the scenery is stunning.
E. M.
Beautiful place to visit. We regularly walk our dogs around the reservoir but I have never been to the "upper" part, where I found a nice play park for my 2 young children. They had a whale of a time on the lovely apparatus, that is all in good condition, well maintained, and very different from the usual park equipment! There are a handful of picnic benches in the park and a few scattered around the outside too. The park was very tranquil and when we were the only family in there we saw several squirrels and many birds! We walked down to the reservoir after a couple of hours in the park, having never walked that particular route it was nice to see the little woods and a small interesting cave that entertained the children! There were also toilets available by the park as well! Very handy! (I think there is a cafe as I saw signs, but it wasn't open when we went on a Saturday afternoon).

Awesome place!! A great place to spend the day anytime of the year..lush woodlands , lakes and paths to explore.. kids will love it 👌
p. c.
Nice area kids love the play area not far from the lake barbecue area pity coffee shop not open more. Plenty of picnic tables.
H. L.
We parked on the car park and followed the signs for the watch tower and the waterfall, beautiful scenery and wildlife. Great walk for all the family.
P. D.
Beautiful autumn colours alongside the serene waters. It was raining but that added to the atmosphere. Always a pleasure to visit whatever the season.
E. N.
Nice walk to the falls scenery is beautifull the fall is a nice small fall which you can have a paddle and submerge your body in.not good for swimming 🏊♂️. Ideal for kids to explore.
R. R.
Nice park with woodland areas and water features free carpark. Can walk to the reservoir from here.
S. B.
Beautiful place, stunning views and walks
2. t.
Really fantastic walks and a quality guy selling coffee and food. The walks are sign posted so you know where your going and the park is great to finish off for the kids
D. B.
I love this place and have visited for many years. I like to come early morning when it's very quiet. At this time of year autumn it's more beautiful than ever low mists and birds everywhere. Absolute paradise.
D. S.
Beautiful park, a hidden gem.
Free parking, coffee shop and toilets. Beautiful scenery and we'll maintained paths. Lots of nice places to sit and just take it all in.
A. C.
Absolutely lovely place and definitely worth a visit. This was out first time visiting and will definitely returning. There are lots of different trials to follow and they appeared to be well signposted. We went to the waterfall and then walked back to the reservoir
M. A.
Very nice for a family BBQ!
k. f.
Lovely quiet scenic. Beautiful place.
S. H.
Lovely walk through the woods and around the lake. Cafe court yard open Sundays
M. D.
Lovely place to walk beautiful scenery and has toilets
M. L.
Loved it. Plenty of different paths to explore, and find.
N. S.
This is an absolutely beautiful park, well maintained and still holds a beautiful wild feel.
L. M.
Lovely place with great walks.
It could do with some information (maps, overview, etc) at the car parks.
Many paths have steps so visitors with wheelchairs, babies in buggies, etc need a way to plan routes. For this type of visitor the lakeside car park is the best bet for a walk and the upper car park is good for a picnic.
T. W.
I have lost my sentimental cream case with my birthday money in. Please please contact me if it’s found
C. G.
Amazing walks, could easily spend 3-4 hours or just an hour, beautiful scenery and nature. Good for novice and expert walkers. Great cafe and play area at the main visitor area.
R. W.
Wonderful, slight undulation for all the family, beautiful wildlife and scenery.
C. C. L.
Decent place, I can see myself going for a run here.
P. S.
Stunning country park great for a leisurely stroll
H. B.
Beautiful walk from greenway Bank and round Knypsley resesvoir
e. j.
I had heard of Greenway Bank Country Park (Knypersley reservoir) for years but had no idea what a great walk was almost on my doorstep. Lovely walks, great place to get children out in the fresh air. Once Covid restrictions are lifted, refreshments are available. The walks are not too demanding, parking available but get there early.
D. W.
A beautiful place to visit, very peaceful.
M. D.
Really nice place for a walk, also with young ones. There is really two car parks pretty close to each other but at two ends of the walk. The views are really nice and there is a nice play area for the kids. The top car park walk isn't suitable for push chairs/wheelchairs as there are only steps down to the lake, so go to the next car park for that kind of walk! The walk however is really pleasant and very scenic.
N. B. (.
Absolutely beautiful place for a walk with the kids and the dogs.
A. B.
Lovely little hidden gem of a walk. Great arboretum, water fall and watch tower. It Was very busy and there was quite alot of litter but we Will definitely go again.
P. J.
Lovely walk beautiful scenery. Something for everyone young and old. Walked around the lakes plenty of benches and places to just sit and chill and take in the views. We will be back soon.👍
m. h.
Went here today and it was ok. The park needs a bit of work, some fences in places, but I guess the lockdown has had its effect. It needs a few more signs to say where to go etc. Not a place for people with limited mobility, which should be put in its description.
C. M.
Great place for a nice walk 🙂
S. C.
It was a peaceful, scenic walk here today. Not many people around but then it was very cloudy and windy. Be aware that the toilets are closed because of Coronavirus.
R. G.
One of our go to places for a local walk. 2 free car parks and lots of tracks and posts to explore. There are toilets at the top car park but not at the bottom one which is adjacent to the reservoir. The bottom cp gives easier access to the lakes but we generally use the top one for a longer walk
D.
Lovely peaceful place for a relaxing walk with your family and dog lots of wildlife to see
S. P.
Great location for walking, with added bonus of free parking and a small kids play area.
P. H.
My children love this place! Beautiful walks, plenty of chances to see wildlife, public bbq area and a short walk through woods or on road from knypersley reservoir, but car park and walks are much quieter. Lovely wooden play area too :)
A. L.
Favourite place to take a bag of seed and watch birds 👍
M. C.
So peaceful and a lovely walk
A. J.
Great place for a walk. This one of many places our walking goes.
Look up the POG potteries out door group and join us for more walks.
B. M.
Such a lovely place for a family walk.
L. H.
This is such a lovely, peaceful place to walk around and see a beautiful selection of wildlife.
Canadian geese, ducks, moor hens, Robins, bluetits, chaffinches etc. There are many squirrels that will approach you eagerly to be fed if you bring some nuts. Great place to bring children to learn about nature!
C. P.
Green bank country park lovely walks around the serpentine lake and the canal reservoir. You can walk down the 75 steps by the dam to the mill pool and walk along the side of the river Trent. When done you can have a lovely coffee at Mojo's and peek into the visitors center
P. B.
It's nice to take a stroll around knypersley reservoir and the serpentine with the family and dog such awesome scenery and the fishing is very good. But you need the necessary permits Stoke-on-Trent angling club will give you advice and a rod licence is a must
I. P.
Visitor's Centre and cafe are at the top of the bank in the old stables buildings. Cafe only open at weekends. There is a picnic area next to the centre. There is also a smallish car park. Footpaths lead into the woods. At the bottom of the bank is Knypersley Reservoir with its own car park and access to the serpentine pools footpath.
T. H.
Beautiful walks.
Refreshments only available Sundays 10 am to 3pm.
S.
A true hidden gem, open 7 days a week with free parking and refreshments available at the weekend on the top carpark and the ice-cream van comes if the weather is good. Two options for walkers to do a full lap of both pools or cross over the dam and take the shorter route just around the reservoir. Dogs welcome on their leads, ducks, swans & geese will greet you and I believe there's fishing by licence
a. k.
Very nice place to park the car and take advantage of the bench overlooking pool, to chill and relax
K. W.
Good access to the Serpentine & Knypersley Pool, but not suitable for wheelchair users. Used this carpark today as the one by the pool was full.
Play area for small children. Toilets available.
C. H.
Nice walk. Plenty of parking. Gets quite busy though. Nice waterfall area.
l. u.
A nice park with clean picnic tables, a nice little wood for walks, dog friendly. A nice play area for little ones and not so little anymore ones. A nice café. A big car park.
R. P.
Pleasant to strol around. Paths OK for children's wheelchairs, mostly. Gawton's Well and Rock are worth the detour off the reservoir by the path by stone bridge.
P. S.
So many memories, lovely place for an early morning walk.
K. C.
Lovely walk round the reservoir to pass an hour away .. Very quiet so ideal with the dog and other dog walkers I bumped into were very sociable .. Would go again
N. W.
You can see the lake and good places for walking with your children and your dogs.a places to park your car. I,s nice.
C. H.
Lots of benches and picnic tables. Well maintained paths without being too sterile. Rangers do a great job here
B. D.
Nice walk lots of blue bells!
N. D.
Lovely little park for children, only discovered it very recently! Large car park with lovely views and there's even a bench to sit and admire the view!
L. G.
