Reviews of Jakes Barbers

I've been going to Jake's for about 2 years now and never left disappointed; I'd recommend for the great atmospher and service. The familiarity of the service is great - they do their best to ensure you see the same barber each visit and the quality of the cut is consistently fantastic, especially so as they get used to your hair.

I've been getting my haircuts at Jake's since 1999 when I discovered the barbershop hidden behind St. Paul's Bar (at the time, now The Rectory) in St Paul's Square on the edge of the Jewellery Quarter. I'll let my hair go to detriment before I'll try another barber! Cool decor, great magazines and two of the best barbers in Brum, Colin and Gary!

Went to Jakes and saw a great gentleman named Colin. I had a great time having a genuine conversation. I went in with a cut I wanted but he made a recommendation that swayed me and I couldn't be happier. He was so efficient I was in chair for what felt like 10 minutes. I'm very happy and plan to return for next cut. It's a little hard to find if you are a first timer, but look for a sign to Jake's Barbers right next to "The Rectory".

So much better than the usual plethora of barbers I've used in the past. Another reviewer got it right: it's not the laddish skin fade type establishment. Settings are superb, decked out with film & music memorabilia ..nice print of Hunky Dory on the main wall...but it's the quality of the haircut (best I've had in years) plus genial and friendly service that is provided by Jake's that now make it my go to barbers...and you'll pay at least £10 less than many of the high street chain type of barbers.

The barber I had my beard trim with was not bad had a quick trim but if this rating was based on cleanliness a star would do 🤷🏻♂️

Went to Jakes for the first time today and I already know that it won't be my last. Was in Birmingham visiting my girlfriend and was in need of a haircut at short notice ahead of a graduation ceremony. Came across Jakes using google and gave them a ring. Was able to get an appointment booked for just a couple of hours later.
Very quirky interior decor, filled with vintage things. Very homely and personal service from Colin and I was made to feel very comfortable from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. Very reasonable price too which is also welcome!
Cut was excellent, exactly what I was looking for and was in keeping with what I get at my usual barber back in Bangor (North Wales. ).
Highly recommended, and I'll definitely be making Jakes my regular barber when I move to Birmingham later in the year.

Having recently moved to Birmingham, I wanted to find a really great barber so I did what most would in my situation and asked the all-knowing Google. The reviews for Jakes Barbers were excellent so it was an easy choice, despite it being a bit of a distance from my flat. I arrived just as the shop was opening and was greeted by Colin who was really welcoming and fit me in straightaway, despite having back-to-back appointments for the rest of the day. Colin was incredibly candid and knowledgeable on a whole range of subjects from art & music to hidden gems around Birmingham and everything in between. Being new to the city you can imagine how invaluable I found this. The shop itself was clearly put together with a whole lot of love and creates a uniquely relaxed atmosphere. I can say with certainty that I found the excellent barber that I was looking for and will definitely be going back - I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

I've been going to Jakes Barbers every month for around 12 years and have always been impressed. Gary and Col are both great top guys and very welcoming. The venue is a great little vintage type barbers with a cool vibe going on.
I've never experienced any issues with these guys and would recommend them to anyone.
