I’ve had two great experiences here. The most recent time was a cut and balayage by Keith. He had to reschedule, but did everything he could to free up an appointment for me at the weekend. Went to Urban Edinburgh to see if they could repair a car crash of a haircut I got at a barbers. Greg squeezed me in at short notice and was simply fantastic. Patient, friendly and professional, he spent over 40mins blending in my hair and repairing the hatchet job that was done on me before. I was convinced beforehand that the only way to rectify the mess my hair was left in, was to shave it all off…but Greg carefully styled my hair and saved the day (and most of my hair). I can’t recommend Greg enough. I can at last show my face in public again. Thank you.

These guys are awesome. Friendly, professional and personal. I asked for a voucher for my cousin who had been talking about her hair colour for months so I thought let me get hair done! Gregg was super responsive, interested and went above and beyond for my cousin to be happy with her hair. I absolutely love this place! No frills, down to earth vibe, professional service and covid safe. I was meant to have my first appointment with Stephen ( who cut my partner's hair and she was really happy with it) but he fell ill and had to cancel the appointment. They were kind enough to book me in for the same day with Greg ( the owner) , who not only added 4+ hours to his working day, but he also insisted on charging me Stephen s rate so I wouldn't go above my budget. I wanted to bleach my hair from very dark brown to white and he managed to get it exactly as I hoped! Plus my scalp is very healthy and I had zero hair loss which it was very unexpected as any other salon I tried would leave me with a sore scalp and fewer hair. He has 20+ years experience and it shows! I thank him for his kindness and incredible service and would definitely recommend to all my friends! Keep up the great work!

Greg cut my hair on Saturday so that I could donate it to the Little Princess Trust. I was quite nervous as I’ve always had really long hair. I've been going to Greg for nearly 2 years now and I can't recommend him enough. He's very skilled and friendly, and always provides a really relaxed and nice atmosphere. My hair is fine but quite wavy/curly so it took a long time for me to find a hairdresser who could enhance my curls - Greg gets it right every time. Definitely the best hairdresser I've had!

Overall a great experience, had my hair dyed for the first time and the process was so friendly and relaxing. Just had my hair done by Greg and I absolutely love it. My hair had been bleached all over and then severe roots had grown in. I wanted a change so he worked with me to achieve something more natural by adding some low lights and graduating them in rather than your usual highlight or lowlight strips from the root. My hair also feels in great condition and I couldn’t be happier. Greg was friendly with a lovely, chilled attitude and went above and beyond in his approach of professional and friendly customer service. I turned up today with a standard appointment for roots and balayage knowing it was a mammoth task which would take all day. My stylist was Steve (the specky one as he called himself) and I couldn't before grateful of the job he did. We discussed the style I wanted and reached a compromise (only because my hair was a HUGE job which I had made more difficult by adding a box dye to cover a years worth of regrowth). Greg cut and coloured my hair and it's far and away the best it's ever looked! I'm here in Edinburgh on holiday and haven't had my hair cut in over a year. I Googled to find the best salon in Edinburgh and I'm so pleased that I picked this one. I find having my hair cut a weird and awkward experience usually, but Greg is a good guy and the two other stylists who were there were lovely too. The atmosphere in the salon is very relaxed and this, coupled with Greg's professionalism and expertise puts you at ease. My hair has a touch of redness at the roots, which I didn't expect and will take a bit of getting used to, but overall I'm really happy and love my new hair. See you in a year or so for round two!

Absolutely love my hair, Keith is a great hairdresser. Everyone there was nice. But I liked that Keith was honest about how many visits it would take to get the outcome I was looking for (I needed a full head of highlights and toner on he first trip and a tint and toner on the second trip), and a haircut too. The prices where really reasonable considering it is so central and I needed 2 trips. Keith gave me an inclusive price for both trips. I have been having my hair styled by Greg at Urban for quite a few years now. The staff are always welcoming, pleasant and fun! The salon is classy and has a boutique feel to it, without being too big or noisy. Im always pretty nervous trying a new hairdresser particularly regarding colour, but Greg is great, got the colour spot on. I noticed how much effort he made with the cut and colour particularly vs some of the chains in Edinburgh where it can feel a bit rushed and like the hairdressers are up against it. I walked in with unhealthy and frizzy hair with split ends all throughout, I walked out with a healthy and fresh haircut. Should've written this review a long time ago! I've been getting my hair done at Urban for two years and won't go anywhere else. I tried so many other hairdressers including all the big chains but they all either did my colour well, or the cut - was so relieved to finally find someone who could get both right! Greg does exactly what I ask for, but also happy to offer his own advice if I want to do something new. Always have a great conversation and nice to get a good cuppa during the appointment. Absoloutey brilliant hairdressers. Ignore the profile picture because the long hair is gone! Chopped of a few months ago by Stephen. Now sporting an undercut with hair barley grazing my ears. Really like Urban - went a couple of years ago with a voucher and really enjoyed my experience. After spending the last year trying other hairdressers more local to me, I went back to Stephen at Urban and so glad I did! Not really sure why I didn't go back sooner. I am absolutely in love with this salon, especially the fantastic hair designer Stephen. I have been a faithful client of his for around 8 years now and I am yet to be disappointed. I never feel the need to tell him what I would like because the second I sit in that chair he knows whats best better than I know myself, quite a challenge considering my hair is not only flamboyant but also difficult to work with. The salon itself is located in a gorgeous part of the old town and they will never fail to greet you with the warmest of welcomes. Tea, coffee, a nice cold glass of wine? Not a problem! No matter the price there is certainly no place I would recommend more.

I've found my new hair haven, I went in with an idea, with photos, and Keith was able to instantly direct me towards whether it would work for my hair regards the colour I already had in it (lots of crappy home dye jobs), how long it would take and was really accommodating. I ended up going blonde for the first stage of my idea but loved the blonde so much I've just returned for my roots and I scrapped my previous idea. I ended up with an ashy blonde delight and my hair was in amazing condition considering bleach was used. My hair is fine but a conditioning treatment was used which really aided its recovery and worked a treat. I think I'm going to be blond forever, thanks Keith!
