Perfect haircut experience as usual. Jason was super nice, took the time to learn about my hair and understand exactly what I wanted. And the result was perfect! And the rest of the experience is just as fantastic. They're friendly, on time, plan enough time for you so you never feel rushed and the place is nice, tidy and stylish. Great atmosphere, the rest of the staff and the customers were all cool and friendly. And you can see the staff really love their job. Never had a bad experience here so give it a try and thank me later :)

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is pleasant, welcoming and energised. The level of service is immaculate from start to finish, from the way you are greeted, the attention to detail on your hair requirements (which organically evolve into your lifestyle), to the haircut itself. I was fortunate enough to be looked after by Richard, an amazing hairdresser, a truly natural talent that eases you into the experience. It's not just a haircut , it's in invitation to share as much as you feel comfortable with to help shape the best experience for you. In no way is this stuffy or manufactured. Everyone truly working there truly wants to help you and give you the best possible service. It's so rare to find this and everything pales in comparison. I've never had a haircut or any other experience like it. So worth it, and will give you a spring in your step after.

Great to be back this evening for a post lockdown beard tidy after being closed for 3 months due to Covid-19. Richard is truly one of the best in the business when it comes to cutting hair. My beard is looking the best It has all year, thanks bro, I will never go anywhere else. 🙌🏼 Really good to see Tommy and his team have put in such large efforts to make the shop as Covid Secure as possible. Screens between chairs, individual waiting zones for guests, temperature checks for staff/guests on arrival, and all round impeccable hygiene inside the shop. Apart from your barber wearing a face covering, and people keeping their physical distance, there isn’t much of a difference from the normal Ruffians experience you would have expected at the start of the year pre Covid. The shop is buzzing with energy from both guests and staff and you can tell the crew are gassed to be back doing what they do best, which is being a stand out company at the top of their industry! This has become my Go To place for getting my hair and beard sorted. Always get a friendly, smiling welcome, always offered a drink, (beer & whisky chaser, get in), and a chat with whoever's (wo)manning the desk. It's got a cool and breezy vibe without being cliched and desperate. I get looked after by Sam and it feels reductive to just call him my barber. So great to come in, have a chat, catch up on any and every topic, put the world to rights and be on the receiving end of his absolutely top quality skills. The business.

These guys are passionate about giving the best cuts and looking after you whilst you’re in their care and you feel that in the energy of the barbershop every time you go. I was apprehensive of going for my hair cut in a busy central location. I had ZERO need to be, as ever, Ruffians Shoreditch were ahead of the curve and have arguably gone to far to ensure the COVID transmission chance is ZERO. Fair play guys and so much appreciated. I had a re-style haircut yesterday with Cal and Jason, who was shadowing for the duration of the cut. I was extremely impressed with the hospitality that I received from start to finish, Charles greeted me with a smile, offered me a beer and hung up my jacket, which was a very nice touch. I was extremely impressed with Jason’s willingness to learn and pick up new techniques. He was very observant of Cal’s process during the hair cut and was always asking questions which was great to see. When it was his turn to cut he showed great technique and precision, whilst taking his time to ensure quality. I have been using Ruffians for the last 18 months for both mine and my sons haircuts and I wouldn't go anywhere else now Richard Tucker really is one of the best in the business and the reason I'll continue to return The general atmosphere in the shop is always good fun. The product line up seems to have changed over the past few months and the new version of styling paste is far inferior to the old one which was quite simply the best product I've ever used.. Great banter amongst the lads in the shop, which presents a classic barbershop atmosphere (As a transplant from NYC, this is something that I was missing when I first arrived in London). I now come every month to see Tyler, he's been absolutely amazing with both his advice of what suits me/what works with my hair as well as being a really skilled barber. It's been a great process of getting a new look that works for me, as well as getting to know him and the rest of the staff. It's been a real pleasure getting to know him and I always look forward to catching up and getting a fresh cut. After a previous disaster getting a 'small beard trim', Tyler is the only one I trust with my beard and hair! Everyone at Ruffians is really friendly and makes an effort to get to know you, so much so that I brought my groomsmen there to get cuts/shaves and it was one of the highlights of the weekend having beers and rums and having a great evening with the staff. They all remarked on what a great time they had. Can't recommend highly enough, it's great not having to worry about any more bad haircuts from randomly assigned barbers or from people who aren't talented enough to recognise different hair textures and how to get the best out of each. I originally paid him a visit for the first time at the Covent Garden store and then followed him to Shoreditch when that store opened. Separate to Richard being one of the best Barbers London has to offer, his service has always been consistent and always goes the extra mile to make me feel comfortable when I step into the stop! It's been far too long since by last trim by Richard tucker (@tuckercuts) and was so happy when I got the news that I could book in and make the journey up from Basingstoke again. I am always early for my appointments and would normally sit inside and get some work done but the precautions and safety measures put in place meant that for the sake of 10 minutes I sat outside on the bench and until my appointment was due. With all the screens and coverings up the store does look alot different but Richard ( along with all the other staff ) was as on form as always , the only difference being having my temperature taken and being guided through the one way system to my chair. The attitude of the staff was impeccable, i mean everyone had shields and face coverings but the attitude was as if it was another day trimming your bro and all was about making sure you were comfortable and felt happy with what was going on. I couldn't recommend Richard or Ruffians enough, all safety measures in place , clean immaculately tidy and a service that in 4 years has never faulted

Fantastic place to get a cut, shave or a touch up. Sam always cuts my hair and he's absolutely great. Sam's not only a truly wonderful barber, but also a great person/gent. He's always super positive and always willing to go the extra mile. Going for my haircuts were always a chore for me. BUT, that was before I met Sam. I enjoy the experience of coming in, having a catch up, beverage and then having Sam go through what he thinks will be a good cut for me on this particular occasion. Long awaited post-lockdown cut at Ruffians with Rich. A great experience as the team put you right at ease with a temp check and hand sanitiser as you come into the shop as well as social distancing (1way system and plastics guards/barriers between each station in place). Is quite clear how much work/planning/thought has gone in to how to re-open safely and I think they’ve done a brilliant job. Awesome to catch up with Rich who didn’t miss a beat, even with the new uniform of a plastic guard/visor to contend with. It’s fairly remarkable how quickly the team have adapted to an unbelievably strange reality, but they’ve done it really well whilst retaining their USP in the first place - a great (much needed) haircut!

Amazing and very friendly service. Tyler (highly recommended) is an amazing and incredibly professional barber. He will take his time to make sure everything is perfect and won't let you leave before you look your best. In addition, he will take into consideration many various factors that one might not even think of, such as the face of your shape, the thickness of your hair, how thick or sparse your hair grows etc. Based on that, he will make recommendations for you to choose from. I have been a customer at Ruffians since February 2016. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed but professional. The hairdressing crew clearly know their craft and despite the casual appearance I believe recruitment is set and maintained at a high standard. Similarly the support staff and front of house have always been friendly and efficient. It’s interesting for me to note that there is a growing female clientele as well as staff members in case you think the overall atmosphere appears ‘laddish’ from the outside. I’ve been attending stylist Richard Tucker throughout the time I’ve been a customer and moved from Ruffians’ initial London venue (Covent Garden) to another (Shoreditch) when he did. Richard’s always managed to interpret what I want and make the best of my hair. He’s helped me try various new styles over the last three years and helped me feel better about my appearance and imagine other options, which is increasingly important as you get older. Certainly his work is always commented on with admiration by other people after I’ve visited. Richard is extremely friendly and open to any ideas. I’ve never felt pressured into accepting an ill-advised or severe haircut. His attention to detail is formidable and his skill is routinely impressive. He is clearly dedicated to his craft but more than that, he has a good eye for what will work and knows how to bring out the best in his clientele. He is a modest and unassuming man which belies his consistent talent and his ability to deliver 100% satisfaction. I’ve always been impressed in the way he takes a genuine interest in you as a person as well as a client and wanting to make you look and feel good. I have my hair cut short and a big beard that needs to be maintained and Richard has always managed to bring out the best in both. He specialises in fade work and can restyle effectively. If you’re looking for an impressive new haircut that makes you feel like you’re walking down a red carpet or a relaxing 45 minutes with a great haircut at the end of it (together with a choice of freshly brewed coffee, tea or beer) I’d recommend Ruffians and it may be that you’ll be as fortunate as I was to find a brilliant barber. If you want to make an appointment with Richard Tucker be advised that his appointments get booked up quickly.

Sam has been cutting my hair for years. His attention to detail is the same today as it was on Day 1. What I also like is that Sam continues to try different techniques of cutting/shaving including introducing me to various products. The outcome is always great and I never have to worry about my 'difficult' hair. Lastly, it has to be said that the conversations with Sam are always enjoyable. I had the pleasure of getting much needed shape up on both beard and hair last Saturday under the craftsmanship of Maxwell Oxley. Max is a complete pro, top bloke and leaves you with cut you go home buzzing about. I wanted to share my experience with the new guidelines in place. Honestly, what they have done in Ruffians is go the extra mile to ensure social distancing is observed from the moment you arrive and until you depart the shop with a sick haircut. When you arrive you are asked to wait on a bench outside to be called in. You only wait a few mins and you are called in to a number of large branded screens protecting the front of house and all staff members wearing full on plastic visors. You confirm the details with front of house then pop back outside to wait to be collected by your barber. You are given a drink (beer in my case) and presented it with tissues and protection along with plenty of hand sanitiser. You are collected and taken to the chair by the barber who fully protected with a plastic visor, all the barbers have large screens between all the chairs, you have a chat, he/she does a top job and you look a million times better for having been in the chair with them. There is a one way system in the shop so you leave the chair through a specified path and arrive and the fully protected till at the front of house again. Payments are completely contactless and hand sanitiser is available at all times of your visit. Honestly, they have gone the extra mile to make this new world much less daunting and make you feel completely safe. They still provide absolute top class work, highly professional and they still deliver the service with great care, conversation and smiles. That is a big reason why I continue to use Ruffians in Shoreditch. Well there porcupine pale ale, ice cold is also a big draw for me too :-). See you in a month and keep it up Ruffian crew.

Maxwell 'Consistent ' Oakley. Top trims even in this new post covid world. I have been going to Ruffians for nearly a year now, with Maxwell Oakley cutting my hair during this period. Post lockdown, I turned up at Ruffians with merely just a picture of a new hairstyle that I had in mind. I showed the picture to Maxwell and he cut it to absolute perfection. The man is an absolute expert in what he does. Further, the place has ridiculously safe COVID restrictions in place. Including a temperature gun, face visors, restricted use of equipment, high levels of deep cleaning, among other things. It's the highest level of COVID protection methods that I have seen in place! Well done.

Highly recommend Richard who cut my hair and beard on the day; the friendly approachable service is only second to the obvious skill the Barbers here posses. If you get you haircut at a tiny non skilled place (like I usually do) then you could exclaim that it's pretty pricey but for a first rate service from truly skilled people I would be willing to pay more... that's not even including how chilled the locations is and you are offered Beer or a hot drink throughout. This is the longest review I have written but I had to justify it, the client keeps begging me to take him back. Top notch service and my Girlfriend assured me I have never looked better.

I’ve been using Ruffians initially Covent Garden after a recommendation to See Richard Tucker @tuckercuts since December 2015 and 4 months into my beard growth. When Richard moved to the Shorditch branch I moved as well. The venue is extremely welcoming to all. I can rock up early and crack open my laptop and get some work done on there Wifi while hitting a quality complementary coffee . I’ve even taken my then 9 year old to have his hair cut while. All staff were more then happy to talk . Richard however being the key in this review . Aside from looking after my boy has been looking after my beard for 3 years . I’ve never had a poor steer here . Always given the best advise on care and equipment and not letting me leave until I was 150 % content with even the easiest pre meeting tidy up . I have been going here for years now - started off in Covent Garden and moved to Shoreditch to follow my usual barber, Richard (yeah he's that good i'd follow this guy anywhere!) - and the whole customer experience is always on point. Especially now during this pandemic, Ruffians has taken its staff and customer's health and safety extremely seriously which is a comfort to see. No waiting inside, temperature checks when arriving for your appointment, hand sanitiser and a one way system all to ensure social distancing as much as possible. Richard also has a barrier between his and the next chair to provide that extra shielding. All this has not ruined the Ruffians experience. The staff are friendly, attentive and their professionalism is spot on. I couldn't wait to get back in there to get my hairdid. WELCOME BACK GUYS!!!

I cannot fault the haircut I was given; the staff are skilled and friendly (ask for Tommy); and the beer is good (and free). But if you're wondering whether you'll see the full fruits of your £55, the answer is no. What I did find really useful was the consultation, during which Tommy asked me about my grooming habits and gave me advice for styling/ maintaining. I'd never had this before so it was good to get some insight. A good place to go perhaps if you fancy treating yourself, or have a special event coming up, or want something other than a short back and sides. But otherwise you are mainly paying for a trendy brand in the Londond's hipster hotspot. To summarise - a very good haircut, but not one that can justify the price.
