I've been to so many "afro specialist" barbers and the experience has always been the same. Comb your hair once and trim. Then once you get home and comb your own hair, it's uneven. This was not the case at Sampson's. I went there to get my hair fixed and he knew exactly what he was doing. Comb, trim a little and repeat until it was level. Excellent service and good price. You'll find it very hard to find a barber with the care, attention and patience of Sampson's.

I have been coming here for the last 3 years. Having lived in many parts of the UK including Manchester, Yorkshire and now London; this is hands down the best barbers I have been to. I’ve had my haircut here for 4 years now, and have never been left disappointed. It’s a walk in service so no appointments are required, and best of all, it’s affordable! The owner, Sampson, is very friendly as are the other two staff, greeting you as you enter, so you’re always felt welcomed. Will keep coming back to this place.

The owner was an absolute gentleman, as were the rest of the staff in the shop, they could not have been nicer! Businesses usually turn us journalism students away, but Sampson's was very kind and helpful!

Extremely clean skin fade using sharp sheers and a single blade to finish. Sampson is an artist and skilled hair technician. He skillfully made do with my bumpy egg head and cleaned me up properly. Now that I’ve moved to London Sampson’s is the only place I’ll go. Tidbits: Cash only, walk-ins likely, Sampson is your man (older dude that gives amazing skin fades).

Made an emergency visit to Sampson’s barbers after receiving the worst low skin fade I’ve ever had in my life from another shop. Within about 10 minutes the barber (who’s name I can’t remember unfortunately) completely fixed and sorted the dodgy work and made it look great. Would recommend!

I had to change my barbers recently as my old barbers was near my previous workplace and was now a 18 mile journey away. So i came across sampsons on holloway road and i have been there once a month since i have found it. I had tried others along holloway before i found sampsons. One was too slap dash and it seamed like they just wanted the money and didnt care about their work or what the hair looked like afterwards and the other was compleatly opposite and it felt more like a day spar and was way to intimate for my liking( i didnt want sensual head caressing and scented candles i just wanted a quick trim and tidy up) everyone to themselfs i guess. Sampsons on the other hand has a nice frendly atmosphere and i can speak to them and ask advice on hair styles and up keep of my hair and beard and what kind of products would benifit my certain type of hair style. They have a walk in policy of first come first served and this suits me fine as i live 3 roads away and can make it easily for opening or colsing times. Their prices are about average for a london barbers and they only accept cash not cards so pull some out if you can. I usually spend twenty to forty minutes there depending on what i want done and i would definitely recommend.

What's not to love! The guys at Sampson's Cuts have been a fixture on Hollway road for years, and they do a great job for a very good price. Why should you bother going down to Upper St. for a haircut just to pay double the price?!?
