This is such a wonderful salon in beautiful Primrose Hill. I came here for a deep hair treatment by the owner himself. Nico was incredibly attentive and professional and my hair was saved from a very dry and brittle state! I honestly couldn't stop touching my hair afterwards! The salon is very clean and fresh with a great line of products. You may even catch Nico doing his insta reel/pic/video of the work they've done with colour and styling. Highly recommend!

Really pleased with my hair from Shades today! I’ve been a regular at the Manor House salon for a while but decided to try the Primrose Hill salon as it is nearer to my flat. Nico was very friendly and helpful in terms of explaining what he was doing and how to maintain my hair. All staff were considerate and made me feel comfortable. I wanted a subtle pink shade and am really pleased with the result. Nico made sure to subtly tone it first and check I was happy to re-tone it rather than in some salons that would not be so careful about not overloading the colour. The cut and style is great too. I will definitely be back in future 🙂

Nico has been styling my hair for years and I always follow him wherever he goes so was really pleased when he got his own salon. So many people comment on my hair when he has blow dried it, the curls and bounce lasts for days and days. I had a failed box dye attempt to color my hair and he did a great job not only restoring my dark hair but also making a beautiful balayage. Great service! The salon is very well spaced out and has Perspex screens between customers. Staff wore masks and had several hand sanitiser facilities. Loved my experience! When I arrived I was unsure about what to do with my hair as I am getting married in 6 weeks. I will give a very honest review here. I don’t often leave reviews. I booked an appointment over the phone to get a balayage, haircut and blowdry. I’ve only had balayage once before and the process is quite new to me. I followed the account on Instagram and was sent a message to let me know that I’d receive a 10% discount as a new customer which was very nice. I arrived to my appointment and the manager was very friendly. I had an appointment with Sara and she quickly came over to introduce herself. I showed a few photos to Sara so she has an idea of what I’d like, she offered some pointers and went straight into it. The whole process was advertised as £85 but Sara told Me that it would be an extra £20 if she thinks that I would need to use a toner. No problem. The salon was quite clean and quiet. Sara then washed off the hair dye, put on the toner as she said I would need it and then followed it with a haircut. She didn’t cut a lot as I told her I only wanted a trim and she respected that. Everything seemed fine, no complaints at all. When I went to pay, I completely forgot about the 10% discount and it wasn’t mentioned to me either. It’s not a big deal but maybe they could make a note to remind themselves as well of new customers. When I finally washed and styled my hair myself at home I noticed a few things that weren’t that great. The color wasn’t the best and In some areas it didn’t feel like it blended that well with my hair color. The cut - I part my hair in the middle and I only realized when I styled my hair myself that one side is significantly shorter than the other. It’s not a big issue but you can tell at times - especially when I straighten my hair. To conclude, its a perfectly *ok* salon. You’ll get what you ask for but may not be the absolute best. I may go back for a color but will be more specific. **Edit in response to Salons comment** I did actually tell them what I was getting done via instagram dm and I received a response that I’d still qualify for the 10% discount. Also - its not that theres nothing ‘great’. Just that the cut was uneven in the front Thanks!

Sara is good, everyone was really friendly and they have very good italian coffee, i had a great head massage when my hair was being washed, i could only wish that it lasted a bit longer. I went there to have balayage, it appears that they use natural hair dye and not bleach, which i find really good. I will return a few more times as i want my hair really light and might update my progress here aswell.

SO GREAT!!!! I had a bad hair dyeing mishap at a different salon - my 'blonde' highlights turned out violet, then the other salon tried to fix them and they turned out blue, then green/gray. It was obviously a complete accident- but still really unfortunate!!! I explained all this to Joelle Shades & they made me feel comfortable from the beginning. They all consulted together, then did a test patch on my hair to make sure that it wasn't a chemical imbalance in my hair. They then carefully balayaged the hair over the green/gray- not even using bleach- and also used a special treatment for damaged hair. COMPLETE hair transformation!! Cannot recommend enough - great staff, great results.
