A CUT ABOVE !! Visiting IOW as a last minute getaway break with my wife I realised my hair was pretty much in need of "sorting" !! After a recommendation from my father in law and googling reviews of many other barbers on the island, I decided to put my trust in The Barber Cube. So, I picked up the phone on Thursday and booked my appointment for 11am on the Saturday. This in itself was a nice experience, as I spoke to a lovely woman called Liz. She was very friendly and professional, and I already felt I was in good hands. So, on to my experience at the barbers itself. I arrived promptly at 10:55, and within 3 minutes the previous customer was just leaving. It was then that I met Stuart (the main man himself) for the first time. I was reassured to see him wearing a face mask, and he greeted me with a "Hello sir, welcome. Take a seat young man". I felt flattered already, as I am only 3 months off turning 60 !! Anyway, down to business as they say. Stuart asked me how I would like my hair cut, and without further ado got down to it. During the cut he was very engaging, and we had a lovely conversation about nothing in particular, but both insightful and interesting at the same time. I even discovered that the aforementioned Liz (remember the lovely booking lady?) is his wife ! He was so pleasant, it was as if I had known him for years !! Stuart cut my hair just how I wanted it, and he even tidied up my first time (lockdown) beard and moustache as part of the service. Overall, I felt the whole experience from beginning to end was first class. Next time I'm on the IOW and in need of a haircut, I know I will be heading to The Barber Cube in Newport. Many thanks to both Stuart and Liz for making a simple haircut into a memorable experience and making this 60 year old feel (and look..lol) 20 years younger !! Regards, Dave from Dartford.

Great barber, been my go to for about 12 years now, Stuart has styled my hair for festivals and even for my wedding. a great cut in a traditional walk-in style barbershop, later afternoon is always quieter on a Saturday if your in a hurry, but always good service 👍

I've just had my best haircut EVER !! And at the age of 55, this is quite a claim to make ! And I make it unreservedly ...... I discussed with Stuart what I wanted to have done, and he suggested that I might consider a bit of a change, which would solve a 'problem' area of my hair that I had showed him......I put myself in Stuart's hands, and I'm SO pleased that I did ! The resultant haircut truly is my best ever, I love it !! (and Stuart is a lovely guy to chat with, I could have stayed there all day !) A great little barber shop. I always get a good cut here and some good chat from any of the barbers cutting my hair. Very friendly service and good prices too. The popularity of this barber shop is evidenced when you turn up at busier times and you're almost into double digits in the queue!

The cube is absolutely awesome.. Just got back from an excellent experience. Spotlessly cleaned and disinfected throughout before entry, masks offered and felt 100% safe. Saw some hairdressers in town wearing masks under chins. Totally irresponsible, the cube is the safest place in newport for a professional, friendly, safe haircut, visors and masks worn and can't recommend it enough.. Others please follow this example of how to operate a covid safe business, we nerd to feel safe having our haircuts 😊 Well done indeed, the experience compares nicely with my overseas experience with barbers taking all precautions A1 five star rating.

With regards to the review from jim Cory my first thought was that he was talking about the wrong shop. Since I moved to this area about 11 years ago I have been using this barber first when he was at his previous premises before his move to these premises. I have always found stu to be a very polite and courteous man and I could never imagine him being impolite or rude to any customer. I would never think of using any other premises in the town. Carry on with your good business my friend you give 5 star service all the time
