This is by far the best barbershop in Oxfordshire. I am pretty picky when it comes to who cuts my hair, but I have no problem with any of the guys here because I know it will be exactly how I want it and exactly the way it should be cut best for my look. Only ever had a good cut from this place. At £15.50, it's not the cheapest place in Oxford but it's perfectly reasonable for an excellent cut and a great atmosphere. All the staff are super friendly, so you'll leave feeling well taken care of. Big props to Emile (hope that's spelt right) for his top class dance moves and for putting my glasses back on when he finished my hair.

Excellent service, really friendly barber and a great haircut, all for just £15. Music was initially quite loud but they turned it down when it was clear people were struggling to talk. The waiting area isn't massive, so you'll want to get in early, but it also means that the queue goes very quickly.

I really loved the warm service I received and the hair cut itself I am particularly happy with. £11 dry cut for a student is much better than some other barbers. If you're looking for somewhere friendly, professional and well priced to get your hair cut then definitely go to Duke's.

Been there thrice. The best barbershop I visited in Oxford. Will come again. Pros: Good customer service (patient, polite, and helpful), nice haircut, free WiFi, 10% student discount on Mon-Thu. Cons (relatively): Sometimes the queue can be quite long. I found it is shorter on Monday than Thursday. But I guess it's quite relative. You may also find slightly cheaper cut in Cowley, but it will be less delicate - only do it for simple cut. For those cuts that matter, such as before a job interview, I concluded that Dukes deliver the most value for money. Cut by Joe once and by Ali twice. They are both helpful, with great hairstyle advice. Dukes won't disappoint.

Pretty special barbers, certainly a cut above what you'd expect (if you'll pardon the pun). The shop is very small, the waiting area is a window seat immediately behind the chairs. The barbers are very friendly and very good at their jobs: in my one visit there I saw 3 or 4 different specialised haircuts being done. There is always fairly loud music playing inside, which is useful as there can be a fairly long wait at busy times. A standard haircut is £14.50, very reasonable considering the quality.

Truly excellent. First, these guys (I've met George and Naz) know what they're doing. Second, they don't rush it, they take care and make sure you are happy with your cut. Third, they are really friendly and interesting. All for a low price. I paid £10.50 (after the 20% student discount, Mon to Thurs) for a short back and sides...I will be back in a month and a half! Edit: I've had another, different haircut (classic, tapered trim on the back, cleanup on the sides and chop on the back of the crown), with the excellent Ghassan, and can doubly recommend Dukes now. £12.50 this time as I had it on a Saturday!

To be honest i have to start by saying that people are very nice and haircut is of good quality. However I was very disappointed last time. The hairdresser was way too brutal and really hurting me with his comb like if my head was his stress relief. The haidresser did not really listen to me thinking I was just randomly complaining ! I have had my hair cut many times in this esteemed establishment. Never, until my visit last week, have I ever been so impressed by the quality or workmanship, style, attention to detail and precision trimming demonstrated by Misha. A beaming smile, positive attitude and what can only be described as outrageous banter, this woman knows how to turn hairdressing into a form of art. Gone were my curls, split ends and my grandad style mop. I was transformed into an example of friseur ecellence. I walked out of Dukes barber shop feeling like a new man, like Oxfordshire's very own Kanye, the covered market wasn't ready for my swagger and new found confidence. She affirmed my receding hairline and grey hair, reassuring me that "the ladies love it", I was ready to take on the world, or at least several mainstream dating apps. The pricing structure was fair, the facilities cosy and checkout service quick and easy. Only as I was walking through the Westgate centre, smiling at every young lady I could see, did I consider maybe my contactless payment choice wasn't a fair reflection on the level of coiffeus-ery I had received. Deep, intellectually stimulating conversation from a cultured and educated professional after all, probably deserved a tip. I would highly recommend a visit to Oxfords best barbershop and if possible an extra special request for the services of Misha who is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face as she invites you to sit down at her bench of craftsmanship, dresses you in the cape of desire and begins to transform your hairdo, transfiguring you into a modern day Friedrich Nietzsche. 5 Stars.
