Thank you so much to all the girls at Ruby Red and especially to Jodie for giving me the most wicked and amazing green hair I could ever have! I had a black virgin hair and it turned out perfect! She even booked me again after a few days just to make sure the colour was still ok and I was happy! I couldn't recommend them more! They make you feel comfortable since the beginning with the colour consultation, booking and in the actual day... And they always check up on you to make sure you are comfortable. If you want the best treatment and coloured hair in Reading go for Jodie! Seriously, I'm in love with my hair 😭🥺🖤🖤 Thank you guys!

Had a hairstyling with Jane and was so happy with the result! My hair looked amazing after, she was really great with all the questions I had as I was considering putting highlights in my hair in the future. She showed me all the shades available, made amazing recommendations on the best tones that would suit my hair, the process, and even did patch tests. It’s a big step and i’m so so so happy and lucky to get Jenny to do my hair!! Ruby Reds has always been a fantastic salon for the full hair pampering experience. Jenny and the team are so warm, friendly and professional. I would not trust my pillar box red hair to anybody else - especially as they've looked after me for at least 20 years! The onset of the pandemic has been tough on Ruby's but they have risen to the challenge of making the salon Covid safe and keeping their clients and themselves protected. I haven't ventured out much since March, and neither do I plan to, but I do look forward to my regular visit to Jenny - in fact I'm counting down the days until the next one!

First visit post lockdown and the team at Ruby Reds were just fantastic. They were incredibly welcoming from the word go, I felt safe at all times on the premises. The picture is my hair all wishy washy post lockdown, with most of the colour gone completely, to completely revamped with varying shades of purple into pink. Had a scalp bleach root touch up for the first time here last night. Always a bit nerve-wracking going to a new salon but immediately I was put at ease by all the lovely staff there. Jane did the colour, she was lovely to chat to and made what usually takes a while (I have a lot of hair and it's quite thick) go so fast! I was then taken to the sink by a lovely girl with pink hair (sadly I didn't catch her name) where she had washed the bleach out and used an olaplex mask. She was so down to earth too! After my hair was dried and styled, I cheekily asked if they could plait my hair in two braids. Trinity kindly agreed and I walked out with my hair so icy and soft, exactly how I wanted it, in two pretty Dutch braids! I absolutely loved the friendly and warm vibe in here! There's definitely a personal touch and you can tell all of the staff have their loyal regulars which is always a very good sign! I highly, highly recommend this salon and I'm looking forward to returning for my 8 week touch up! Thanks again ladies xx

I got my first haircut in over 5 years yesterday by Jenny - the haircut is perfect, exactly what I asked for (very simple trim and some face framing layers, so not overly complicated) but the best part was definitely the service. Not only did Jenny genuinely listen when I told her what I wanted, but the person at the front desk - the other hair dressers - literally everyone smiled and said hello to me when I walked in, and goodbye when I left. I've been to hair salons before where I feel a bit like the ugly duckling because I don't know anything about hair or makeup and have no sense of style, but I felt completely comfortable at Ruby Reds. My favourite thing is going somewhere and feeling like people actually like their job, and this is exactly how I felt. It was 5pm but everyone still seemed to be happy at work. 10/10 will absolutely go again soon.

Great salon! The service was incredibly friendly and very welcoming, even though they were very busy (this is in the first weeks of opening post Covid). John was my hairdresser and he was very accomodating, listened to what I found important and my needs and made sure I was comfortable. A new hairdresser can be a daunting experience, but they secured me as a loyal customer from now on. Only thing I need to remark is that their prices on their website don't match the salon, probably somehow related to Covid but something that they can improve. To me the price paid was still very much worth it but for people that are mindful of spending this is something to enquire about. Other than that, 100% would recommend!

My mum loves having her haircut with John, because he always does it so well, and is a 'lovely person' in her words. So my twin and I thought we would take her up on her recommendation and give it a go! Especially because we now both have long locks... John was genuinely the loveliest person with a myriad of interesting stories about his upbringing and life. But he was also genuinely interested in me. My hair looks brilliant. I left Ruby Reds not only looking like James Dean but with a massive smile on my face too - for the price of £30 I didn't realise I would get a haircut and a therapy session in one. People pay £100's of pounds for a psychologist and can not really achieve much emotionally, let alone a haircut. Forget the psychologist asking you about your 'feelings' and go for a haircut with John. You will walk out the shop with a massive smile looking like me, James Dean. Go and support Ruby Reds, who must have been decimated by Lockdowns and restrictions.

Fabulous! I had to write a review to let everyone know what a fabulous place Ruby Reds is. I’ve been going for a few years as they have expert stylists who actually understand hair, particularly a huge mop like mine. The lovely stylists, John, Richard and Holly and the team are so friendly and professional - I feel special when I’m in the salon and I feel like a million dollars when I leave. I have been let down by unprofessional hairdressers before who clearly didn’t have the level of knowledge and skill shared by the team at Ruby Reds. Holly is an amazing hairdresser! She gave me a the best hair cut and a beautiful balayage! Definitely 5 stars for her :) The only negative thing that I could say is, that Ruby Reds could do with a complete refurbishment. It looks extremely old fashioned and if I hadn't read the good reviews, I probably would have never gone there. The hair wash units are very uncomfortable and don't seem to be very ergonomically for the hairdressers either. If the look of the salon could match the excellent service they provide, it would be perfect in my opinion.

I usually only went to a hairdresser when they had an offer on. This led to years of chopping and changing, little loyalty and usually me feeling self conscious because I wasn't stick thin and able to use eyeliner properly! Then about three and a half years ago, a friend introduced me to Ruby Reds. There was no offer on at the time, but as she'd raved about them, I thought I'd give them a go! I've not looked at any other hairdresser since! The team are so welcoming and make you feel comfortable straight away, the clientele anything from children to the elderly. Most of all though, every single haircut (from any one of the team - I think everyone has cut my hair!) has been amazing and looks good even when it's down to me to manage it (including using travel straighteners!) The only hairdresser in Reading to gain (and keep) my loyalty. I wouldn't go anywhere else! :)

He knew exactly how I wanted my long, wavy hair to look, and cut it so brilliantly. The best cut I've had in years, with long tumbling layers and texture. And the blow-dry! Left my hair beautifully bouncy and oh-so-soft. Couldn't be happier with the whole experience. I will definitely be returning again: feel so lucky to have stumbled across this place.

I decided to try Ruby Reds based on the brilluant reviews on Google and I wasn't disappointed. I went in with blond hair which had ended up as block colour and described what I wanted to Jane. I asked to have different shades through to break up the block, whilst still keeping the lightness of my hair. Jane totally delivered, and I am delighted with the result. Even my husband noticed which is a miracle. I have now got a lovely dark blonde colour with different shade highlights through which looks more natural than the block colour I went in with. I have had a cut and colour done by John. After not having trusted a hairdresser to cut my hair for years, John has done a great job. He cut some great layers into my hair and left the length long, which so many others insist on cutting too short. In addition I had the loveliest dip dye/highlights. I can safely say it is the best colour I have ever had done. Doesn't look brassy at all and the condition of my hair is still good after all the bleaching. My mum had her hair done here after having bad experiences with salons that had stylists that didn't know how to deal with the texture and nature of her West-Indian hair. Shocked, dissapointed, and upset. I had an appointment for a hair colouring and cut today, and I'm upset about the outcome. The hairdresser didn't seem to pay attention to what I came in for, and I really really dislike the outcome. I requested balayage hair, and somehow ended up with an ombre that was ten shades too dark. The ombre is uneven - and so is the fringe she cut. The hairdresser even straightened over bleached hair, so it become extremely frizzy and broken. It's such a dissapointment to sit in the chair for over 2.5 hours and the colour came out bad - it's a feeling of wasting over £160... I was too upset to mention how awful it was during the appointment, and the hairdresser multiple times said "you look better with a darker colour" and continiously seemed to point out how good she made it look during the appointment. I had far higher expectations of the salon given it's reputation I've found online. EDIT: Thanks for reaching out to me (and so quickly too). The face to face meeting was very appreciated and helpful and I’m looking forward to revisiting in a few weeks time.

After having gone through a horrific experience in a boutique salon in London, who promised me complete different results, my hair was messed up and I was tired of searching for genuine hair dressers. I came across Ruby Reds after seeing their incredible reviews, so I walked in to have a chat about what could be done and I knew I was in safe hands right away! Jane spoke to me and gave me nothing but honest and realistic advice about what could be done to my hair. No over promising, just honesty. She had colour corrected my hair using her knowledge and expertise of many years, she went above and beyond my expectations! I actually felt really sad, that I went all the way to London with such excitement and had such a rubbish experience, when I could've gone to Ruby Reds from the start. I met the owner too, who was so so undescribably lovely, really just added the cherry on the top when you know you've been to a salon that's run by genuine kind hearted people, out for nothing but to make their clients happy first and foremost! I have been going to Ruby Reds for years. Richard always cuts my hair. I always get a good service and have never been dissappointed. I have been to other hair stylists over the years (some quite expensive) but after a few cuts/restyles and being charged for every item one might be offered - my hair becomes totally unstyled and I can not do a thing with it. If you want a good hairdresser who will understand your type of hair and will not be intimidating - try Ruby Reds and they will discuss with you what you require, offer advice and then you come out of the shop with a new hair do.
