Going to born i felt so nervous but I was soon made at ease by Paul and his skills are truly amazing. My makeup skills are very limited and what Paul produced was outstanding and his wonderful manner had such a calming affect. The whole experience was wonderful and has had an impact on me of giving me so much more self confidence and I will definitely be going back in the future for makeup lessons. I cant recommend born any higher to anyone as on showing my friends the photographs they enthused how lovely I looked in a way I never thought possible.This new experience has been so positive on me and my trans future going foward. Paul has been my go-to make-up artist for some time now. It's a relaxed, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere and the results are always excellent and surprisingly durable. This particular visit was a whole new experience for me - for the first time, under close supervision, I was myself actually wielding the weapons of feminisation and learning some of the (frankly mind-bogglingly complex) mystical art of make-up. As a scientist by training, it felt like a combination of chemistry, biology, fluid mechanics, and all wrapped up in a (to me unfamiliar) world of art and colour and design. An extremely enjoyable first experience of this, and I'm already booked in for another session at which, hopefully, I'll be less timid & more confident. I highly recommend Paul, especially for those who want to try this but feel shy or nervous.

This was my second visit to see Paul at Born, the first time was to have my makeup done for a night out in Manchester. From this I decided to have a lesson and I learned so much from application to which brush to use . Paul’s knowledge and professionalism comes across so clearly and I came away with plenty of tips and a new found confidence in makeup. Afterwards Paul sends through a guide of what we had done , makeup used etc, just in case you forget. It was a super afternoon. Amelia x

I’m inexperienced with cosmetics and having seen Paul’s work elsewhere I was keen to make an enquiry. His communication was first class and the explanation of the lesson content and after lesson notes (personalised to my lesson and listing the exact products used, along with notes about the techniques used) was exactly what I needed. The lesson itself was relaxed, his description of techniques were very clear and gave me an opportunity to follow Paul’s application of the product(s) and techniques. The explanation around brushes, products and techniques was very helpful indeed and his recommendations around the order of application has changed how I approach getting ready the very next day. I booked Paul’s 3 hour session, which was in my opinion an excellent investment in terms of both time and value for money. Don’t take my word for it though, book a session and thank me later!

I visited Paul with my partner for a full trans makeup lesson. We had a great afternoon and picked up lots of tips. The most important aspect for me was getting advice on the right colours to use of Pauls recomended brands. This has already saved me loads of money which I would have spent while "buying and trying"!

Had a really interesting afternoon with Paul for one of his lessons. Despite me being a total beginner, by the end of our session, he had me feeling 100% more confident and looking great (if I do say so, myself)! There was a lot to take on board, but the process of being shown something on one half of your face before trying it yourself on the other definitely helps; I couldn't believe some of it was my work. Paul is dead nice and his studio is really cool. Hopefully, with some more practice and experience, I can book in with him again in the near future to learn something new.

I love having my makeup done by Paul at Born. He knows just how to take my ideas or to do my makeup for the event I am attending. His studio is light and spacey and Paul always does a good job of making you feel at ease. His makeup tutorials have also helped me lots as well.
