James is an absolute legend. Incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He's not looking to just sell you things you don't need, he just wants to get you comfortable on your bike. Has helped me out with loads of issues on a couple of different bikes and fitted me superbly each time and always happing to help, even squeezing me in last minute and staying late on occasions just to help me out. Best bike shop/fitter I've experienced in Bristol. You won't go wrong with him! Fully recommend

Had a great experience with James for a bit fitting and since then a tinker with my bike before a race and a full service. Each time I've had a really excellent experience. James really takes his time and his depth of knowledge and experience across all bike disciplines is obvious. He manages to impart all this though in a completely genuine and friendly manner. I don't normally wrote such glowing reviews haha but James' shop is a pleasure to visit, I very highly recommend you pop in if you ever have a need.

This is an absolutely brilliant bike shop. I went for a bike fitting and a few new parts and it's like riding a totally different bike now. James clearly loves his cycling and this comes through in the quality of his services and the products he stock. It's all top. He's also a wealth of knowledge and only to happy to help. A really likeable guy so I'll be returning for as long as I'm in Bristol. His team seem great too, again all cyclists and super friendly. I really recommend this bike shop!

A hidden gem! James has transformed my cycling in the space of a couple of months. Extremely knowledgeable about all things bike, down to earth and genuinely cares about his customers. A breath of fresh air after dealing with Halfords, Trek etc. He's fitted me for both road and gravel. Prices are very competitive given the quality of material and labour. Definitely recommend.

I can't believe I didn't go years ago - a few tweaks and a new set of narrower handlebars have made a massive difference to my comfort on the bike. James was professional, honest, and patient. James initially helped me when i had some bad service from another large Bristol bike shop. Since then I have bought 2 bikes and many parts and items of clothing. I have had several bike fits from James and he is exceptionally knowledgeable and corrected severe problems caused by a previous bike fit at another Bristol bike fitting shop. I was finally able to ride without pain and improve times over all of my key strava segments. It is the best upgrade you can get for your bike is a proper fit from cycling position. I just want to say a huge thank you to James and his team for giving me just the best advice in coming up with solutions on how to sort a frame out I was convinced was too big for me. I told him what I wanted out of my bike and he provided a custom build to the budget I was working with. These guys are excellent - I couldn't recommend them enough. Had a bike fit with James who recommended a few changes to position and some upgrades of kit such as shoes and stem length, all of which have made a difference to power output and comfort. In particular, saddles have been a sore point in 20my yrs of road cycling. I've never found a comfortable saddle and have always suffered with numbness despite going through 10's of different models, advice and changes in position etc. This has now been solved, no numbness, no abrasion, no discomfort - which for any cyclist who's experienced and put up with this problem will know is an absolute miracle! On top of all this they don't push expensive kit and they were really good value . Use these guys -you wont be disappointed.

Booked a bike fitting with James and I can't recommend him enough. He is very knowledgeable and goes out of his way to help you get the best out of your bike. I do a lot of multi-day bikepacking so comfort is very important. My bike was a bit too big for me which made things a bit tricky fitting wise, but he managed to improve the bike fit with a different type of seatpost, cleat and handlebar adjustments. Next time I'll go and see James before buying my next bike to make sure I get the right size! 😂

James has rare expertise and patience, and bends over backwards to get you riding as comfortably as possible. Can it recommend Cycling Position highly enough and it's an Aladdin's cave of super nice merch and bike bits and pieces. Having a bike fit has really revolutionised how I ride so if you're pondering if you really need a bike fit or not just go for it!

James has come up with a unique business model for Cycling Position - look after your customers as if they were members of your own family. Sounds a bit old school doesn't it? People going out of their way to make sure you're super happy with servicing, products, bike fitting, new kit, old kit, coffee, whatever... here's an example to chew on. I've wanted a titanium gravel bike for some time, built to my own spec - not easy on low ££ in the middle of a global supply chain crisis is it? In just a couple of weeks (and with innumerable other bikes to put together) James has taken my Waltly custom frame, added his own SRAM force to it, sourced some outstanding wheels from Ffwd, gone backwards and forwards for Whiskey forks, headset etc. Hey presto - brilliant bike! I could go on, but hopefully the picture is emerging. Head to Cycling Position. You won't regret it.

What I can say, James is a stand up bloke who really knows his stuff! I have used James for a few years now and he has fit 3 bikes (Road, TT and Gravel) for me, each time was spot on. I really appreciate the fact that James takes the time to understand your flexibility and intended use of the bike (obv a race fit is very different to 100+ mile set up). Got a pro bike fit done by James and the difference this has made to my cycling is absolutely insane. I had issues in my right knee which have gone away just from getting a proper fit done. James really knows his stuff and will say things how they are (not sugar coat anything) and is also a great laugh. Also, if the fit needs tweaking he is more than happy to have a look and is only satisfied once everything is perfect. I don't know any other place that offers this excellent level of service. He is also only sells stuff he actually uses himself and has tested over the years. I HIGHLY recommend him for a bike fit, service or if you are looking to buy a new bike also check his shop out.
