Great place, very welcoming and catering for vegans, vegetarians and all sorts. Also, dog friendly. The soup and sandwiches were superb and the cakes simply brilliant. I was particularly taken with the gigantic oat crumble cookies. The coffee was also excellent. Service was great and the place was nice and clean throughout. Go there if you get a chance.

Nice little cafe with wonderful selection of bakes. Simple wooden tables and metal chairs so not the most plush place, but staff are very friendly.
Marked parking on the road right outside. Ramp into cafe with double doors so wheelchair friendly but not a nonslip floor in the disabled toilet.

The food here is absolutely beautiful. I wasn't sure at first as the drinks are quite expensive, but I have to say after leaving here, that was possibly the best breakfast I've had! 😍 …
T. B.
Lovely cafe with very friendly staff, great service & delicious food. Have been twice in the past week, definitely not one to miss when in Pitlochry. The baked goods are next level, can’t wait to come again!

Fantastic café at the edge of Pitlochry town centre. Terrific breakfast options, spectacular cakes and a snug, welcoming atmosphere. Service also superb from lovely staff! Bike and coffee theme adds to the chilled vibe.... definitely one to visit!! Will be back for pizza in the warmer months!🚴🚲🚴♀️🍰🎂🥞☕👍 …

Popped in for a quick bite and coffee on a cold, icy day. Cheery staff, warm restaurant and good food. Rest rooms are good for those of you that test them.
A. S.
Absolutely delicious French toast.... My husband had a full Scottish and it was perfect! Will definitely be back.

A brilliant cafe for breakfast, lunch or cake and coffee. Awesome homemade cakes and hearty cooked breakfast. Very dog friendly, providing water and treats for your dogs. Lovely, accommodating staff. One morning we were a bit late for breakfast and they allowed us to order after 11.30am and even waited for 15min for our friends to join us. We will always come here when in Pitlochry. My favourite in the town by far!! 😁

Good number of vegan options and reasonably priced.
There aren’t many places with vegan options in Pitlochry so it was lucky we stumbled across Escape Route Cafe which had a few items on the menu at a comparatively cheap price. Portion size was good too. Sadly there weren’t any vegan cakes available as would’ve liked to finish off with a sweet treat. Good place for a lunch stop!
K. L.
This place was an absolute joy to visit for something to eat and drink. The food was first class. I had eggs Benedict on toast and it was great!
I then went for one of the breakfast options and it was really tasty. I am a very fussy eater but this place took it in their stride and pulled it out of the bag. If you are in the area and fancy a coffee or something to eat then give them a try and you will see for yourself just how good the food and the service is.

When we decided to go on a day trip to Pitlochry I was looking for a lunch place to step by and decided to visit the Escape Route Cafe due to the lovely reviews. I can confirm it is a wonderful place indeed!! Great menu (vegan friendly also) with affordable prices, very yummy food, friendly staff and lovely coffee! I loved the atmosphere and the unique interior design! Highly recommend!
K. M.
Had lunch here and pizza, no photos as demolished far too quickly. Great selection of burgers, soup, sandwiches for lunch. Be warned about pizza though, tried to get takeaway pizza on the evening here twice. First time successful at 5pm but second time unsuccessful by 530pm as they had ran out. Certainly worth the effort to try and get the pizza though as it is delicious. Dog friendly too.
C. S.
Excellent stop for coffee and a bacon roll. Lovely staff and the best latte I've had in long while. Reasonable prices and toilets clean with quirky wall coverings. Ample parking nearby.
W. D.
Lovely decaf coffee, didn't sample cakes or any other food but looked very tasty.
C. S.
This ain't no greasy spoon (I do love a greasy spoon though). Stopped in for lunch on our way to Nairn. I had a very tasty burger with bacon and cheese, the Mrs has the beef chilli and the kids had mac cheese. All good quality food and nice service. Not necessarily cheap but you get what you pay for.
P. B.
Very nice bikeshop with good selection of clothing and bikes. they have been helping out within hours with a new tubeless tyre setup for a fair price during our biketrip. recommended!
E. F.
Hey guys, just wanted to thank you for the excellent service yesterday. The bike I rented was top notch, in great condition and fun to ride. Your rates were reasonable and I enjoyed being able to explore some of the tracks and trails in the area. Can’t wait to be back.

Good fresh food,great coffee
Lovely staff
Amazing selection of home baking
A. H.
Super friendly staff and the food was good quality. Comfortable setting with great vibe. Small mix up with coffees as cappuccino, latte and flat white all came on the same size vessel 😅 but over all, fantastic service and the cake is brilliant! 👍 …
J. A.
We popped in here having read nice reviews and we sad to see a closed sign ....but as someone came out I popped my head in and checked , well you never know 🙃 We were offered a hot drink and as a bonus there were scones too. Even some to take home as it was the end of the day. The cherry on the cake was the biscuits for the dogs.
The staff couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating despite it being closing time. Our teas were spot on and the scones delicious. We will definitely be back another day and hopefully catch it open properly. Lovely lovely people .
Would highly recommend !!
E. G.
Enjoyed a good quality full vegan breakfast and coffee. Friendly welcoming staff and very helpful bike shop guys too. Thank you! :)

Absolutely divine such a wonderful meal I had I’m only here for a few days but I’ll be back for lunch here again before I leave
D. G.
Absolutely brilliant service. Had a problem with my hope brakes, gave them a call and they sorted them within an hour. I wish bike shops around the Peak District where I live were as good as these guys.
J. T.
The best full English or full Scottish I ever had was here.
Very generous tea portions too. Friendly service.
A. W.
Great little cafe, plenty of space with covered outdoor seating. Service is very friendly, welcoming and speedy.
Coffee is really good but it’s the selection of cakes which wins the 5th star. Oh and the oatmeal cookies, to die for!
E. C.

Great place. Coffee is lovely and food big and tasty. Just what you want after a day on the hills
C. K.
Just one of those excellent bike shops you always hope to find but rarely do. Friendly, helpful, probably a bit too honest for their own good. Excellent cafe as well
D. P.
Great healthy food, huge selection of cakes. Indoor outdoor seating. Strongly recommended
M. B.
Very warm welcome, especially to our Dogo! Very dog friendly (inside the cafe) great Scottish breakfast for £9.95 and the latte and Mocha hit the spot - proper coffee complete latte art! When you know you know! Thank you for a wonderful breakfast!
L. M.
Great cafe, fabulous service, and fresh, tasty food. Plenty parking outside or across the road in carpark. Excellent Cullen Skink.
G. K.
All day breakfast was incredible and the Rocky Road slice to finish it off was nothing short of spectacular.
Quick and efficient service too. Can’t wait to visit again soon.
S. F.
First Scottish breakfast of our trip, high standards to be better than that. Delicious and lively staff too. Toilets cool with the bike theme
H. “. J.
Leaving this post as the food, coffee and cafe are so good.
I had eaten my scrambled egg and toast before I remembered to take a photo. It was a good size portion, reasonably priced and delicious. Very clean cafe and loos. Will be visiting again for sure.

SEPTEMBER 19 - What lovely, lovely people. Got my bike serviced to F1 standards, purchased some lovely and competitively priced texkkie clothes, ssssooo nearly got an ebike, discussed politics and all in all think it’s a wonderful place; arse to the internet. If god cycled, it’s be his favourite bike shop. UPDATE - Went back, GOT an ebike, again delighted with them and amazing customer service. Who needs the internet?!?! Go retail for customer service like this with bikes.
M. B.
Wonderful place. Don't pass it by owhen in Pitlochry.
Breakfast is great.
H.
Absolutely cracking lunch spot! Extremely warm welcome from staff and customers a like.
Solid menu with something for me the vegetarian and my meat loving other half, he had the full breakfast and said it was the best cooked breakfast he's had out. I had a delicious brie and onion chutney toasted baguette that was out of this world. There is also a very wide selection of fantastic looking cakes, tea and coffee.
We only stopped by the Escape route café after an extremely frustrating walk around Pitlochry looking for something tasty and reasonably priced to eat with our dog. There were other "dog friendly" cafés but they were either extremely overpriced or only allowed a couple dogs in at a time.
Really can't rate Escape route café highly enough, it's not pretentious or trying to be something it's not. It's a lovely, welcoming business that seems to be run by extremely lovely people.
We will definitely be taking a trip back.
P. K.
Brilliant full breakfast and flat white coffee
昌.
Amazing chicken burritos 🌯
Fantastic place for a beautiful meal.
Friendly stuff comfortable outdoor sitting space.
Come and enjoy it.
🚴
M. G.
Would have given 5 stars if there were vegan sweet options on display. At least 20 different traits and absolutely none. Also, ordered a full vegan breakfast and the butter they gave me to spread wasn't vegan. It said it on the container, but one would take for granted it was, especially when it comes to such an easily accessible vegan product. The burrito was spectacular though (: and the staff very nice
g. p.
Lovely little café, friendly staff and amazing coffee!
A. C.
A great wee shop, service centre & cafe - everything you woukd ever need, and staff are extremely friendly and helpful 👍 …
G. M.
Great food and great staff. What a really pleasant experience. We have tried most of the cafe's in Pitlochry and because this is a little out of town left it till later in the week. What a mistake. This little gem should be your first call in Pitlochry whether for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea the Escape Route does not disappoint.

Nice little cafe in Pitlochry. Last time I was there I had French toasts with maple syrup and they were quite good. All their food is handmade.
Highly recommended if visiting Pitlochry and a boost of caffeine and foodies.

Great scones. Maybe a little pricey. Have been several times before and will go again. Nice staff. Seam to be dog friendly.
L. G.

Good vegan options, friendly service! Then when someone drove into our car and one of us was outside for ages sorting out the insurance, they took his meal away to keep it warm them ended up cooking it fresh!

K. S.
Great find, the staff gave a nice welcolme especially to our Huskies. This is a dog friendly cafe and the staff were great. For our first visit we had a very delicious mac cheese which was a generous portion. We popped back a few days later for a delicious breakfast, the staff were very happy for a couple of requests on changing some if the items with the breakfast.
The Mocha was very nice and we ended up stuffing some scones down as well. Highly recommended when visiting Pitlochry.
L. R.

Perfect break on a Highland roadtrip. They had a selection of mains, baguettes, toasties, soups and lovely looking bakery. We had the tuna melt which was delicious, shared a soup as well which they kindly split into two bowls. Service was also perfect. The only thing was that they had few vegetarian/vegan options but well worth a visit! :)
N. C.
Me and my partner popped in for a bite to eat on our visit to Pitlochry and what a treat it was! The look of the cafe from the window didn't do the inside justice. It was decorated to a really high standard. We both had a warm drink and a toastie each and it really was one of the best toasties we'd ever had. The staff were lovely, the food was great and it was very reasonably priced. I would definitely reccomend a visit to anyone in the area!
G. B.

Excellent service. Having used Clearaway for many years on a large industrial site I used them for a domestic drain problem. Turned up at the time agreed and cured the problem with a sensible not silly price.
Perfect service. 100,% recommended.

A lovely little cafe that I stopped in often when walking into the village. Although the clear theme of cycling you don't feel like an outsider if you don't have a bike. Good customer service.

Called here for breakfast on our way to ullapool..ordered full Scottish breakfast. Food was ok but we've had better when we've been before. The breakfast was served to us in what looked like large pasta bowls ...it didnt stay warm for very long as all the doors was open and it was freezing inside...i dont think we'll be calling again on our way to our holiday .. shame really as we love this part of our annual trip to the highlands.
P. R.

Top marks and great appreciation for Escape Route. I turned up on a Monday morning when the shop is normally closed (closed Sunday’s and Mondays) needing help on my wheel. Chanced my arm and rang the number on the door for delivery. There was a mechanic on site by chance and he sorted me out within 15 mins using his expertise and imagination and not charging for the parts. Very helpful and allowed me to ride that day. Many thanks ☺️
Oh and the on-site cafe breakfast was top notch as well 😋
S. I.

What amazing service!!!!! Realised I had a back brake failure on decent from Drummocter Pass, phoned ahead from Blair Athol and they squeezed me in and had me going again with a new caliper within the hour. Used the hour to eat at their delicious cafe, fish burger was fabulous. Really reasonable price for the repair and a few pointers for non-urgent work needing done on the bike. Massive thanks to you. Only way I managed back home.

J. M.
Great friendly helpful staff. Good food and super coffee.

This is by far the best customer service I have ever received in a bike shop and the best job done on my bike.
Basically, I had a minor crisis on my way to catch a ferry to the Hebrides with my disc brake not working properly and a broken spoke. Plus I needed a pedal tool. The ferry time was approaching. The guys were brilliant - they did everything they could in the half hour I had, showed me how to remove and reattach the pedals and were generally helpful, understanding my mild stress.
I had the most delicious cake and a cup of tea in the bike shop cafe next door whilst waiting, which is excellent.
I can’t recommend this place enough. If you want a professional job, done with great customer service and at a reasonable price, then go here.
When I next buy a bike, I’ll be coming here as well. I live in Edinburgh but it’s worth the trek. They had some great deals.
C. K.
Hired two eBikes at short notice, both fully charged and worked without fault. Having never ridden an eBike the owner gave us good instructions and a practice run on a quiet street. We enjoyed our day and would hire bikes from Escape Route again. 😀 …

The staff was great in our three visits it was low key + they had wifi available. We were only stopping by but there was plenty of room to sit down with a laptop to work a bit if you needed wifi.
We initially stopped for coffee but came back for lunch after renting bikes from the bike shop. Lunch was delicious + the staff was super accommodating. Would DEFINITELY recommend!
L. R.
Lovely food, friendly staff. Toilets could do with upgrading

Cant fault these guys, during a mountain biking trip up north my bottom bracket was a bit sketchy.
They sorted me a new bottom bracket out within 30mins which meant i could carry on with the trip problem free.
Not only that but the price was very good, if only i had a local bike shop like these guys in leeds

Stopped in around 11 for some tea and treats with my father. Tried an oat brownie shaped treat called a flap jack-- out of this world. Best sweet I have ever tasted. Not exactly sure what was in it, it was sticky, gooey, and perfectly sweet--heavenly. Escape Route also has an incredible atmosphere; it's super cozy, relaxed, spacious, just good vibes all around! Highly recommend!!

This is quite possibly one of the best breakfast experiences I've ever had. My wife and I are vegan, and there weren't any options on the menu aside from beans on toast (which isn't a bad thing!). When the chef saw that we were having a hard time ordering, he popped out from the kitchen and said he could make us a vegan fry-up, complete with housemade veggie sausages.
When the meal came, we were in disbelief! Beans, onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, all cooked and seasoned perfectly. The chef even ran out of the kitchen to tell us that everything was seasoned when he saw us reaching for pepper. He was clearly proud of his food, and with a meal like that, he has every right to be!
Even the lattes and coffees were amazing. I could not recommend this place more.
C. p.
Kev and crew are always friendly and helpful. They also go above and beyond to keep you pedalling.
G. D.

If you want a no nonsense coffee in Pitlochry you can't go far wrong, decent enough for the price with the bike shop next door to boot! Cake selection isn't the best but that's a subjective point.
M. T.
mostly sandwiches, but good. small seating area
A. C.
A little modern cafe next to the cycle shop, I didn't even realise it was connected until we went in and seen all the decor. It's beautiful inside with lots of recycled cycling equipment of the fixture and fittings.
Can highly recommend the toasties, generous fillings and the side of coleslaw and salad was beautiful.
Two polite and chatty ladies on till served us and one the chefs brought out our food, all very welcoming.
If your in Pitlochry and fancy a snack or a beverage I would highly recommend this place.
C. R.

Excellent all day breakfast for me, and my wife loved her french toast with maple syrup. Very friendly service and cool/quirky cafe layout too!
Their locally sourced black pudding was veeeery tasty (came with the all day breakfast) and as it was our dog Islas 4th birthday we were given some to take away with us to share with her!
Will definitely be back! Thank you! :)

KEVIN is our hero!!!!😁 Very helpful and friendly bunch.
My brother's bike was knackered with a snapped derailiure and at short notice they fixed it and found and fixed a few other serious issues with brakes etc... Saved our trip from ending early and gave us some great advice about routes. Helped us achieve our goal of getting to the Falls of Tarf.

I visit Escape Route Cafe every time when I am going through Pitlochry. My choice is very obvious and despite what their sign outside says (Probably the best coffee in Pitlochry), they actually serve the best coffee in Pitlochry! Besides the best coffee in Pitlochry, they also offer a great selection of cakes, sandwiches, and homemade food. Last week on my cycle through Pitlochry I stopped in Escape Route Cafe for some lunch. The today's special was Thai style rice with salmon in honey, soy and ginger with stir fry vegetables. This was the best salmon dish I have ever eaten in my life! The salmon was cooked to perfection! The combination of flavors salmon in honey with ginger is just so innovative and perfect! Plus for those watching their diet - this dish is full of protein and healthy carbs to fuel you up on your next adventure! Also, all food is locally sourced.
Escape Route cafe also benefits from an outside sitting area. When it's nice and sunny, this outside area is just perfect to enjoy a cup of coffee.
The decor of Escape Route Cafe is all around bikes/biking so do not be surprised to see the toilet roll hang from a bike handlebar :) The restaurant has a nice vibrant and energetic feeling. If you get caught by rain, you can enjoy your cup of coffee next a wood burner inside the cafe.
Escape Route is on Facebook too. I have seen just recently on their pages that they will soon start to serve burgers too! I would very much recommend the Escape Route Cafe to anyone who likes to chill over a cup of coffee or just to enjoy a family meal together.
