The best bicycle hire shop in all of Glasgow. The owner wasn't available when we came through to pick up the bikes, however everyone was amazing, helped us with parking, installing our pedals, installing the car rack, and overall just great advice. The price was perfect, and the bikes were fantastic. Can't wait to come back!

Cannot recommend Gear Bike's hire service enough - Joe managed to find a last-minute solution for me to cycle the Hebridean Way, all the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, the bike was an absolute joy to ride and in perfect condition (all bikes are serviced before they are rented out) and the price is among the best I could find. Thanks again and 10/10 for customer experience 💚

Had a specialised issue with hub gears and belt drive slipping on cube bike. Joe was able to quickly diagnose issue. Parts were tricky to source but Joe sorted it out personally and bike fixed on day of dropping off. Always personal knowledgeable and friendly service from Joe and all the team at Gear bikes

We had a great experience renting bikes here for a one week bike packing trip through the Highlands. Bikes worked perfectly and Ian and Joe are just really nice. Highly recommended!

I hired a bike for the day in August and the experience was great. Joe was extremely helpful in the lead up to the day when I kept chopping and changing my plans. Everyone at the store were helpful and knowledgable. I was in Glasgow for a less than 24 hours (ColdPlay concert!) but cycling to Loch Lomond was an experience to remember. I even received a unexpected gift from Joe at the end of the day!

Purely by reading other reviews I bravely decided to send my ebike all the way from Orkney to Gear Bikes for a service. Having now picked up my bike ourselves and seen how busy the place is its amazing that Joe managed to respond so quickly to all my message queries and sort my bike in super quick time. Such a friendly shop with Joe even taking to time to tell me all that had been done on the bike. Now he's jokingly said he'll come up to Orkney and mend bikes but if he ever does venture up we'll see that he's well fed and watered! My bike means the world to me and knowing its been so carefully serviced means that I can continue to rack up the big milage.
This is now my go to place for 'Scirrocco' my Raleigh Motus GT ebike.

Had an issue with the wheel on the buggy. Took it in in the morning, fixed within a few hours later. Fantastic work, fantastic and friendly service and saved me a ton of hassle! Would highly recommend!

Couldn't recommend a better place for all your bike needs, the most lovely and helpful team. Trust them wholeheartedly, this is the place to go! Thank you!

Great service, Joe kept me updated with pictures and a video helping me see what he was seeing. Bike all sorted on time for the weekend. Will be back.

Can't rave about this place enough. Why?
1. When I arrived and asked for help with a touring bike for a two week trip through Greece and turkey - they helped me with heaps of advice and didn't put the pressure on to make it feel like I had to buy.
2. Sold me one of their ex rentals. Super reasonably priced. I know this because I scoured gumtree for 2 weeks and couldn't find a better deal. They serviced the bike and changed everything that needed to be changed (chain, one tyre and casette)
3. Gave me a great deal to fit a mudguard that I bought and helped me pack it into a box they provided. It was so awesome. Really so much effort they put in!
4. Helped me go through how I have to assemble the bike when I got to Greece which really helped, as I would have probably stuffed it up!
5. Including the weight of the bike, I had 40kg loaded + however much food and water I would carry - +5-8kg. Only issues I had was two popped tires, and the rack came off one side at one point but just needed to be screwed back in (I was on some buuuumpyy roads!)
6. Was going to sell the bike when I got to Istanbul but I had fallen in love with it so kept it so kept it. A big part of that love is the great experience I had with all the staff at Gear Bikes!
Thanks so so so much :)

My gear cable snapped during a charity ride, called up the guys and they sorted me within a couple hours! Bike has never been so smooth and excellent customer service, definitely my new and only bike store! Thanks to Joe for his efficiency and caring work!!
S. K.
Amazing service. I've left my bike in twice now and have been delighted both times. Staff are knowledgeable and great at communicating their diagnosis and solution. They are friendly and polite. I like that they diagnose the issue and send you a quote before starting on any work. The turnaround is quick too. I left my bike in Wednesday just before close and they had it ready before lunchtime the following day. Highly recommended!

Was riding locally from out of town and got a puncture, these guys fixed it for me sharpish and were very accommodating. Great service!
J. E.
Very helpful people at Gear Bikes. I took my vintage bike to just about every bike shop I could think off in Glasgow with each one telling me my bike is too old to repair etc. I finally went to Gear Bikes and not only were they extremely helpful and understanding, they were very FAST and REASONABLY PRICED.
They replaced by bottom bracket (tough job, one of the caps was completely seized), mounted a used fixed gear crankset, mounted a small device to ensure my chain doesn't come off, attached pedals, trued my front wheel ,and adjusted my brakes for only £119.
Very happy with these guys, will be my glasgow bike shop of choice from now on.
S. L.
I had a great experience here! I just came in to get my seat heightened and Joe was so helpful! He was able to tell me more about my new secondhand bike and give me some coordination tips. 😄 Really recommend if you want honest and fun expertise.
M. T.
It's pretty rare for me to give a great review to a shop I've not been in. I was hoping to be walking into the shop and pick up the hire bike and head out for a couple of weeks of touring, but knee surgery forced me to cancel the trip.
What is certain is that Gear Bikes is run by bicycle enthusiasts who also love the business of bikes. Their communication and professionalism was top notch. When I have the opportunity to return, Gear Bikes will be my first stop!

Very friendly local bike shop. Joe sorted out an incredible custom build for ny cycle to work scheme.
Super knowledgeable and very helpful, would always go to them for advice. Have had all my bikes serviced here, very good service and value
Cheers guys!

Awesome service from Joe and the team when choosing my 8 year old his first new bike. Great advice on which model to choose, excellent communication throughout, bike built to the exact spec we wanted, nothing too much trouble. My boy over the moon. Long live our local bike shop!

Great service. I've got a big clunky e-cargo bike where every part of the drivetrain and rear wheel is difficult to access, and they were still able to give me a less than 12+hour turn around.
I have hydraulic disc brakes, and they are a pain to get to as they are hidden behind riveted wheel guards. They swapped out the bad rear ones, checked the front, and cleaned both rotors. I'm impressed with their work and speed as the majority of shops in the area require you to leave your bike a few days before they even look at it. Also, most don't want to have anything to do with my giant e-bike, but they were very accommodating.
C. C.
Rented two hybrid touring bikes with racks, side bags, helmets and lock. I got a medium size (I am 5’6”) my fiancée got 2XL (He is 6’3”). We rented them for a week. They were just right, new and well equipped for emergency repairs. Friendly and helpful staff. Conveniently located near Kelvingrove Park. We biked all over Glasgow and beyond using the Komoot app. So fun! Highly recommend Gear Bikes! And Komoot app. Happy biking!
B. N.
Thanks sooooo much guys for helping me put my bike back together again after I got stuck fixing a puncture - with good grace and patience too! 🙏💚😊
I. M.
Joe did a service of a used bike I bought and the service was above and beyond… replaced parts, took the time to get it right and now have a bike that runs like butter. Would highly recommend!
T. K.
Joe kept me in the loop throughout, explained everything clearly, gave a realistic turnaround time then got the job done ahead of schedule. Can’t fault the service. Great place.
G. L.
Very friendly and always great service. I was hit by a car and the guys were really quick to help resolve the bike issues for my insurance.

Joe seems very knowledgeable and full of good advice. They took excellent care of the bike I put in for a service. They seem to have a great range of balance bikes, kid's bikes, mountain bikes, hybrids and road bikes. Plenty of the usual accessories. They also hire out hybrid bikes for a good daily or weekly rate. They have several of these bikes available, and they do not seem anywhere near as heavy and awful as the typical "nextbike" scheme bikes.

The best bikeshop to rent a bike in Glasgow. I am from Brazil, and planned a bike trip to Inverness. I did everything in advance contacting Joe by internet. The prices are low, mostly, the bikes are the very good with great maintenance. We also rented the panniers. highly recommend!!!!
S. B.
As always, a really great service. I took my bike in on Thursday and it was ready the next day. The staff are super helpful and knowledgeable. This time they fixed my gear shifting and fixed a loose spoke. Great!
B. S.
So glad I brought my bike to Gear Bikes the staff are so friendly and did amazing job sorting my bike making it road safe really appreciate them doing it the same day as well. Thank you again 😊 definitely recommend people going to this shop😊
J. R.
Joe and his team at Gear bikes on Gibson street in Glasgow are fantastic. They offer a friendly, fast, high quality service at very reasonable prices. I've used them for years and they've always been so helpful. Great wee bike shop!
B. H.
What a great service. Rented a bike online with minimal fuss. Bike was waiting for me on the day. Pedals changed to shimano sl after I had mistakenly requested the wrong ones. The Ridgeback bike coped admirably with The Tour de Forth event - passing lots of high end road bikes in the process!
A. B.
Used this business to hire bikes for a group of young people cycling together. We hired 8 bikes along with helmets and the spares.
The bikes were perfect for the canal path we used and were a good mix of sizes for the age group we had.
Customer service was excellent and our experience was very positive. We are already looking to hire again.
D. H.
The team at Gear genuinely care about your bike, your safety and your enjoyment of the cycling experience. My bikes always feel better than new when they've been serviced here. Friendly, expert service from real cycling enthusiasts.
L. M.
Gearbikes provided an excellent service when I bought my bike. The attention to detail and follow up to ensure I had everything I needed was superb. Helped me out with some tricky logistics too. Can’t recommend them highly enough.
y. a.
Fantastic and friendly service at gear bikes. Joe fully serviced my bike on the same day I dropped it off and I am so happy with the quality of the work. Will definitely be back - can’t recommend this business enough!
M. A.
Best bike shop in Glasgow. The guys at Gear Bikes have sorted me out twice over the last few years when I've urgently needed something done and also most recently had a full service on my bike. They are very quick to respond to questions via WhatsApp and provide an excellent service for your bike. Staff have all been friendly and advice given is honest. They will repair parts or clean parts where possible rather than just replacing them (thanks Sandy). My bike comes back feeling brand new each time!
Drop your bike off on a Wed morning and it'll get sorted before the following Wed. If you need something urgent it's worth an ask they've always managed to help me out when I've needed stuff back quicker.
I'll say it again. Best bike shop in Glasgow.
G. W.
We’ve been getting Frog bikes for our kids from Gear Bikes for years now and they’ve always been great. Joe is always helpful and patient in getting the kids the right bike.
Recently we had a problem with our Frog MTB. Joe was great, fixing the bike under warranty in less than 24 hours so we had it ready for our holiday.
I can’t recommend Gear Bikes enough, they’ve been great for us.
D. S.
Great bike shop. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Repairs or service work is text to you first for approval and turnaround time is very fast. Had tubeless tyres and set up fitted 4 months ago and recently a service, gear work and brake work. All done at a fair price and professionally carried out. 👌
G. C. M.
The best bike shop in Glasgow. I rented a bike for a trip to Inverness and everything was perfect, bikes, panniers. Joe is an easy guy to do business with. By the way, i'm from Brasil.
L. M.
Cannot believe how wonderful this shop is. Have never experienced customer service like it. Super fantastic. +++
Yesterday I was distraught. One of the brakes on my Pashley bicycle had failed. Not really confident that local bicycle shops would be helpful, I phoned the shop in Glasgow, as this was where my bicycle had been purchased originally.
Via video link Joe was able to ascertain what the problem was in SECONDS and guided me through steps to take which magically worked to solve the problem.
So knowledgable, so helpful and kind. Made my day.
Don’t know how I will get my bike to them in the future, but I will and
this is the ONLY place I will be putting my trust in.
What a difference it makes to have such helpful people around.
THANK YOU Joe so so much.
FIRST CLASS SERVICE
THANK YOU.

I can't say I have ever been in a bike shop like this one. Good vibes from the minute you walk in the door. Well stocked with cycling accessories and essentials. Gear bikes servicing is prompt and the staff are friendly, always keeping in contact with the customer during a repair helps people understand what is actually going on with the bike and makes spending those pennies easier. Great work guys.
J. B.
Can't fault the service from Joe, Iain and the team at gear bikes. My bike was turned around in 5 days after being handed over in a pretty poor state. It now rides like new and Joe was super accomodating in fixing a problem not ordinarily covered in the service. Really pleased and strongly recommend. I'll definitely be back!
A. L. M.
Amazing service! Really care about you and your bike. Always around to give advice and keep you updated on the repair process. Will always go back!
C. B.
Excellent Local Bike Shop with expert staff and wide range of bikes, incl. hire.
Good system for booking in service slots too.

Despite a little bit of a miscommunication at the start (which btw was handled very professionally), Joe at Gear Bikes has been terrific all around. My 6-year old bike now rides like a dream - thanks Joe! He even found me a basket for a fixture on my bike and gave it to me at no charge...and has readjusted my brakes as and when needed with a big smile on his face. Overall a terrific experience - I highly recommend Gear Bikes for all bike related things in Glasgow. A big 👍 to them!
C. H.
Gear done a fantastic job of servicing my road bike. I collected it yesterday - it was well taken care of, thoroughly cleaned, and back to running as perfectly as the day I got it. Much appreciated. Fast and friendly service from Joe and staff, and fairly priced as well. If you're down the west end, don't go anywhere else. A+
G. M.
Put my 15 year old Ridgeback hybrid in for a service/gear adjustment last week. Bike running like new now, first time in ages.
N. B.
We bought a Pashley bike for our Dad as a special present, and Joe and his Team couldn’t have been more helpful. The bike is amazing and something my Dad has always wanted but when we got it home we couldn’t quite figure out how to make a few adjustments to the saddle and Joe was quick to talk us through everything. Would highly recommend. Thank you again!
l. a.
What a brilliant bike shop, the staff are amazing at making you feel at ease, they took there time to help me pick a bike and accessories that I needed with no pushing on sales. After care has been top notch and never a problem.
I have always found all the staff very knowledgeable and attentive to customer😊
I. M.
Friendly, helpful, only took a minute to sort me out with a reasonably priced second hand seat, I can see why they are popular! Will 100% be back
K. G.
As a novice cyclist, I was very impressed, with the courteousness and the professionalism, of the staff of Gear Bikes, where my bike received a first class health check: the shop has a welcoming atmosphere, is easily accessed, in the very heart of the West End, and offers a wide range of bespoke accessories; my only regret is, I did not discover Gear Bikes, before purchasing my bike, from another retailer, a year ago.
G. T. M.
Great choice of bikes, customer service superb. Joe couldn't have been more helpful. Second purchase at Gear Bikes and wouldn't go anywhere else to buy a bike.
S. S.
I can’t thank Gear bikes enough for getting me back on the road after a fall. Not only did Joe go over and above to fit my bike into their already packed repair/service schedule, but identified an unfortunate manufacturer’s fault in my bike (bike not purchased from Gear). As a complete novice, I could’ve been totally bamboozled with technical chat but Joe really explained it all so well. I’ve found some bike shops these days are (understandably) stressed out and too busy to take time to chat. Not the case with Gear. Joe was super friendly and really took time to explain how to go about getting my part replaced under warranty. Very thankful to him for that.
Got my bike back in super quick time. Communication was top notch!
F. H.
Dropped my bike in here for bits of work to be done twice now and had great service both times. Quick, friendly and helpful. Bike is running like a dream. I’m sure I’ll be back.
E. H.
Gear bikes really helped me out during my visit to Glasgow, Scotland. The bikes were in good condition and came with carry packs a helmet and a lock. Very helpful service. Wish they were open on Sundays.
N. C.
At Gear Bikes the service is fast and the team are super helpful and friendly- they have helped me out when I’ve urgently needed my bike fixed on more than one occasion. The only shop I take my bike to, would highly recommend!
J. S.
A brilliant bike shop. The staff are very friendly and do excellent work. They've helped me out with a couple of emergencies over the years. Definitely recommended!
R. D.
Been a long time customer of this place over the years and they’ve always been great. Joe is a really nice guy and a pleasure to deal with.
Managed to move it on to the next generation now with the purchase of a new bike for my daughter. Easy to deal with throughout and good communication. Kept updated throughout given the Covid uncertainties.
A pleasure as always Joe!
A. T.
Was served by Joe, he was so helpful and really friendly. Bike was fixed the same day (within a couple hours) and was super cheap compared to Halfords (where I’ve had it fixed before and the staff complained about it being a tricky issue). Would definitely recommend :)
s. b.
Put my GT Avalanche in for service. Bike I think is about 17 years old, works like it was brand new it's great, Thanks to the team, very fast turnaround, reasonable prices.(This bike was serviced before somewhere else, it never felt as good as it does now). Commuting and a few red trails have been a joy. I rarely leave reviews, I will go here for all my biking needs from now on.
N. I.
Very helpful nice guys when I popped in for a tyre today. Decent prices and saved my day. Thanks guys, I'll be making this my go to bike shop from now on.
P.
I adore this bike shop. Joe and his team are incredibly helpful, friendly, and efficient. The prices are very reasonable and you never, ever get the sense you are being ripped off. I have used Gears to help me identify odd rattles (for which they didn't charge), fitting of tubeless tyres (Evans wanted to charge over 4x the price), bike servicing, cable replacements, brake adjustments, and to purchase mudguards, lube, and other accessories, which are again very competitively priced.
M. B.
Great experience at Gear Bikes! I rented a very good bike, in perfect conditions. All the staff were friendly and kind and they always know how to satisfy the client’s needs. Always choose independent shops, where you know that the people working there do what they do with passion and Gear Bikes is definitely one of those!
T. R.
Gear is the best in the west, no competition. Great turn around, friendly helpful staff with Joe, Iain, Sandy and Callum. Done some great work on my bike recently and i'm so grateful, thank you !! Highly recommended. ( once again Gear to the rescue, handling a demanding customer very well lol cheers guys :)
C. C.
Easily the best bike shop in the city, with the personal touch and from people who know their stuff and really seem interested in you and not just your money.
Very happy with my dealings with Gear Bikes and would always buy from them.
If only everything in life went so smoothly . . .
Don’t go anywhere else.
S. M.
After an initially poor customer service experience in having my 2 bikes serviced/repaired, due to largely inexperienced holiday cover staff, the owner Joe got on the case immediately and did everything in his power to make things right and apologise for the upset caused.
Joe personally delivered my bikes back to me at my home and even offered to give me some money back which I declined as the work done was to the standard I expected and was willing to pay the money for.
He even offered to take my sons old bike and sell it on through his shop, so given the turnaround and exemplary service from Joe I have no hesitation in giving my recommendation and 5 star review.
M. J.
Joe & his team are excellent! This is my local bike shop. Quick, friendly and efficient service. They helped build my “one bike to rule them all” project in February. I love my bike.
A. R.
Knowledgeable staff who obviously have a genuine interest in bikes and helping you get the best experience out of them possible. Great, honest prices with no upselling to things you don't need. Couldn't recommend this place more.
N. C.
I have used gear bikes on many occasions and appreciate their excellent communication and speedy turnaround. I highly recommend them.
M. L.
Very quick service and the people here were very helpful and friendly !
J. R.
The staff in gear bikes could not have been more helpful, when helping us to select abike for my son's 21st birthday gift. Bikes are hard to come by in lockdown but Joe went the extra mile and got a bike that is just right, giving appropriate and insightful advice along the way! Highly recommend this family run business. Thanks again
A. K.
Best shop ever, friendly and knowledgeable staff.....highly recommend.....Pawel
N. G.
Gear bikes went over and above to sort my bike, last minute as well. It feels like a brand new bike, and there was lots that need done after years of wear and tear! Very reasonable price and great communication throughout the day
P. M.
Dropped my bike in as had a problem with disc brakes. Few other issues identified, quickly fixed and back on the road again. Thanks for the quick turnaround, very pleased.
S.
So many positive things to say! I have been a client for around 7 years and I have an old mountain bike. The guys in the shop has always fixed my bike. Recently the bike went a repair - many changes - cassette, chain, seat, break cables changed, a bit of paint on the handle bar and many other. The guys work really fast and they don't price you a lot! It is reasonable and they will give you good advice - e.g. they suggested to change my seat with a second hand one, which was great for me, I didn't need a new seat, just one that doesn't get wet even with a cover. :) Huge thumbs up, guys! Keep up the good job and don't change your behaviour towards clients! That matters so much!
K. G.
Absolutely brilliant service from the team at Gear Bikes. I needed a part for an older Specialized gents. bike and the guys went above and beyond to help source it. I cannot recommend this bike shop highly enough.
H. B.
Within about 3 hours of my first phone call to them I had my bike in, serviced and back out. Highly recommend as it was a brilliant job. Great customer service also.
M.
A really nice and friendly place to get your bike fixed. The stuff is very friendly and will help you at all times, even though it is busy. And they are very quick in getting your bike back on the road and are very interested in you, as they are always up for a chat. I would always get my bike fixed there!! :)
C. M.
Fantastic service today, phoned up to inquire about a bike, and just over an hour later I left with a brand new GT Agressor Expert MTB, and i am over the moon with it. Top notch service and highly recommended to anyone, these guys know their stuff and made the transaction so much easier for me. Great bike, great service, I will be back 👌🏼
D. M.
Best bike shop in Glasgow hands down.
Lovely guys, always cheerful, always really helpful, always happy to offer advice and lend out tools etc. I've often popped in with an annoying problem and they've made a real effort to help me out on the spot, even if the shop's really busy. They've got a fine respect for classic road bikes (like mine) but they're not snobs and would never make anyone feel stupid for not knowing techno speak etc.
Excellent collection of vintage Flying Scots. Excellent dog who hangs out in the shop. Excellent coffee next door (Artisan Roast).
Altogether a top place.
M. W.
Couldn’t recommend Gear Bikes more! I recently committed to cycling the John Muir Way for charity, 134 miles spanning across Scotland from coast to coast and Gear Bikes supported me perfectly.
Despite having not been on a bike in over 2 years and having nothing but a helmet, the team at Gear Bikes made sure I had no concerns and was fully equipped with one of their hire packages to tackle the challenge.
The Ridgeback bike supplied included all the extras I needed; panniers, bottle cages, spare tube, tyre levers, puncture repair kit, a pump and even a bike lock! Almost everything I could have needed to cover every eventuality. Not that I needed it...
The John Muir way covers all sorts of terrain from smooth tarred roads through to rough eroded, downhill track like, woodland paths. The Ridgeback didn’t skip a beat! Although riding with experienced cyclists with top of the line bikes, I never once felt at a disadvantage. Several times being delighted with the bike and how it performed - excellent components and a lightweight frame - absolutely ideal. I even joked at the idea of buying my ‘trusty steed’ at the end of our 134 mile journey together.
Again, I couldn’t recommend Gear Bikes any more and will certainly be back! Maybe not with John Muir Way plans but I’ll be back! If you need a good value, reliable hire, look no further! Have already and will continue to recommend to friends!

This shop is great! I don't know much about bikes, but when mine needed a few minor fixes I went in and they explained everything to me, and advised me as to the best options safety and price wise. I ended up staying a few minutes and watched as they took care of the few nuts that needed tightening with special tools.
Another plus are the pumps which are always outside for anyone to use!
In general, I'd recommend this shop - the staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and most of all honest! They clearly care about the customer and the product and services they deliver.
Thanks again Gear Bikes!
J. M.
I was involved in a minor collision with a car recently and although there were no injuries, there was significant damage to my bike. I showed up at Gear Bikes and explained my predicament to Joe, who was very understanding and I think could see the desperation on my face for a quick repair! Joe very kindly identified the problem, provided a price for the parts and labour and assured me it would be fixed by the end of the day. This was music to my ears! Up until then I had never used Gear Bikes, but from now on I will. High standard of repair, fair and competitive price and excellent customer service including a very handy text message service, keeping the customer updated with the progress of repair. Joe even texted me later that evening to make sure my ride home was trouble free! All in all, it's a big thumbs up from me.
J. F.
If not the best, one of the best bike shops in Glasgow. I have tried different shops in Glasgow for the past 3 years and this is the best in terms of customer service, knowledge and behaviour towards the customer and the bike. Sometimes the materials tend to be a bit pricey when new but, the guys are always there to help you make ammendments with any available refurbished parts if you are thinking on a budget and they will never charge you before notifying you about the whole cost and how it is broken down in the different parts that they are going to use. Overall friendly and helpful in giving advice for cycling and maintenance. I would strongly recommend it for anyone that genuinely love their bike. Personally I have no words for thanking the guys in Gear Bikes after the job that they did on my bike after a car crush and the very reasonable price I paid for it. And as an extra while other shops will most likely guide you to buy another bike when it is severely damaged, I hereby quote Joe's words when he saw my bike: "This is a bike worth fixing for". Thanks a lot guys keep up the good work!!
F. M.
Helped me out with an emergency repair, despite the shops being plastered with signs saying that the workshop was fully booked. Excellent customer service, and very glad I noticed the problem when just a two minute walk away from this shop!
J.
Having been heavily involved in the bike community in Glasgow & West of Scotland for the last 25 years, I have spent a fair amount of time dealing with bike shops.
I can honestly say that Gear Bikes are by far the most professional and helpful shop I have ever dealt with. Their 'can do' attitude is unrivaled in the city, and the level of technical knowledge shown by all the staff is a credit to the owner!
I have referred many many friends and colleagues to the shop, and was even lucky enough to meet Grant Ferguson in store a few years ago!
S. C.
Hired bikes for the day. Staff were really helpful making sure we had the right size of bikes, adjusting the seats etc.
Supplied with cycle helmets, padlocks all part of the hire price.
Would definitely recommend 👍🏻
F. W.
Excellent. Very helpful staff, who kindly gave me a few (essential) nuts and bolts to fix my pedal with. Great location, right beside Glasgow Uni. Also bought a neat set of lights there 3 years ago and the batteries haven't shown any signs of running out! (Great lights too). Thoroughly recommend the place.
E. J.
The staff at Gear were great, and they have a really nice attitude towards customers. I went in looking for a new bike, but not too sure of anything except what I wanted to spend. The guy who walked me around was knowledgeable and didn’t try ‘hard sell’ tactics on me, just let me look around and was on hand to help. I’d definitely recommend Gear Bikes to anyone in the Glasgow area.
J. D. J.
Very kind owner, great bikes!
D. S.
Speedy service, John very helpful as always. Cheers!
J. J.
Thank you to Gear Bikes for the excellent service I received recently.
I was given fantastic 'no-hard-sell' advice and I’m now the proud owner of a very nice touring bike!
Joe (the owner) and his team are very knowledgeable and friendly.
Thanks again Gear!
C. H.
Been my bike shop of choice for a good few years now. Always friendly, helpful and not the least bit pushy when it comes to selling. Great at repairs and maintenance and never really seem to take the p*** when it comes to charging for the work they do.
Handy having a pump outside too. And you've also get plenty of decent coffee shops and hostelries around it to pass the time too.
D. G.
These guys are great, not only do they most likely stock what you need, but they are happy to fit the parts to your bike too. Great experience.
D. S.
Best bike shop in Glasgow bar none. Joe and the team are fantastic. Quick turnaround for repairs, reasonably priced and honest advice. Will return as often as required!

Went to Gear Bikes to fix the breaks on my bike. Joe who helped me was very knowledgeable and friendly. When collecting he also helped me pump my tires free of charge. Warm and friendly atmosphere, would recommend!
J.
Just had my son’s bike fixed here. Got the gears fixed, brakes replaced, service and tune up. The bike was also cleaned. The service was excellent. I was kept updated by text on costs and pick up time. Would highly recommend.

I popped into Gear last weekend needing a new part for my back wheel. After having a bit of trouble fitting it before, I was told if I was having trouble this time to just bring the bike round. I duly returned half an hour later, bike in hand!
Not only did Joe fit the part for me free of charge (in two seconds flat), but he game me some great advice on what to look for when getting a new bike. Once I scrape some money together to make that happen, I know exactly where I'll be going to get it!
Really friendly and honest advice and service from guys with a genuine passion for what they do. Couldn't recommend them highly enough! Thanks guys!

Two successive nights of issues with the bike on the way home. 1st night a puncture. I was just getting ready to walk home when I stumbled on this gem, walked in and I was told that they could get it repaired in 5 mins.
A very different experience from the bike shops in town, one of which tried to tell me my new bike needed a full service and new chain, and that as I didn’t buy the bike from the shop I would have to wait for the whole day for it to be fixed.
Gear Bikes talked to me about different things that I could try to avoid punctures without any hard sale tactics.
The second night my chain had come off and was slipping on the gears whilst I was cycling. Again they offered to take a look and fixed the problem in 5 mins, and they didn’t even charge me.
There is now no other bike shop that I am going to for servicing and advice on bikes. Great shop with staff who seem to really enjoy what they do

If you ever need help with your bike in Glasgow, these guys are the place to go. The staff were very extremely helpful and kind. While working on my university project i used one of the hire bikes, to film and document my findings. Every time i went there was always someone to help. The guys working there are extremely down to earth and friendly, excellent Service and i heavily recommend this place.

I walked into gear bikes an hour before they closed. I had wanted to hire a bike to take around the park.
I figured my plan was going to be shut down, I asked Joe how much it would be to hire the bike for an hour instead of the day.
Joe let me take the bike for an hour ride around the park with no charge.
Seriously great customer service. Understanding and generous. Also the bike was an awesome ride.
Thanks again Joe :)
Y. B.
Callum is such a lovely human being. Had to rent some bikes to explore Glasgow and its suburbs. We had a great conversation on bikes and mechanics, you can tell that the man is passionate.
Top lad and top bike shop, would recommend!
E. W.
Fabulous service. Rang up and made my order and 3 weeks later Joe delivered the beautiful Pashley bike to my door, complete with a bunch of flowers for the basket! At least a 5 hour round trip so many thanks Joe for literally going the extra mile (& more!).
C. M.
I have been a loyal customer for ten years after experiencing crap service at Dales and Alpine Bikes (the other big shops in the area). Great, personalised service. Good stock of bikes and bits and generally just a nice experience dropping in to have a browse and buying the usual odds and ends.
N. N.
Excellent hire bike provided for a cycle along the length of the Hebrides. Joe was very easy to deal with, the whole trnsaction was smooth and customer service second to none. Would highly recommend.
E. C.
Well, what an experience. The passion for Bikes can be seen as soon as you step in to this small yet fully equip bike shop. My personal experience was one of struggle as I could not fit my new inner tube but due to the caring passionate staff they , without asking , saw the pain I was in and assisted the help my bike needed. This sort of experience is clearly the norm as everyone going in the shop came out with large smiles and a greater knowledge of bikes.
J. O.
Joe is a customer-focused bike-shop owner with great service. Built a bike up for me, sourced a replacement part and fitted - all the while keeping me updated. Will be back!
A. A.
How many bike stores do you know that would go out of their way to get your old (several years, seven or eight years old) bike replaced FREE OF CHARGE? I was amazed at the news that my old Ridgeback Neutron (RIP) was being replaced to a Flight 4.0, it was like an unexpected Christmas gift totally out of the blue.
The staff namely Joe and Ian were instrumental in getting me this top of the line bike.
There was a lot of negotiation between Gear Bikes and Ridgeback/Madison bikes in order to fulfill a frame warranty on a bike that I had purchased several years ago.
Gear Bikes on Gibson Street arguably the best bike shop I have had the pleasure of doing business with, keep up the excellent work gentlemen.
Many Thanks go to Joe and Ian. As I am so chuffed with my new FREE bike.
The bike is gorgeous to look at and even better to ride. Will need to get plastic surgery as the bike is too good looking.
p.s. for all the haters out there complaining about punctures and flat tyres, try Schwalbe Marathon Pluses. They are somewhat dearer but take into account the time or money you normally would spend fixing a puncture or replacing an inner tube they are well worth the extra expense.
Thanks again to the wonderful staff at Gear Bikes, Joe, Ian, Big Rob, Marty, Ali et al.
Peace.

Great shop, these guys know their stuff.
My derailleur was badly damage and they fixed it in just few hours. They also serviced the breaks. My bike was better than when I bought it.
Great deal.
A. I.
Great in-shop experience with Callum, had to get m'y bike fixes Asap and couldn't do it myself.
Callum took the Time to repair it there and then, and explained every step to me while he did the maintenance.
Cost was ok too

I couldn’t recommend the guys at Gear enough... I handed in Joe my bike for a service and check. They provided a very quick and informative service for a reasonable price.
D. P.
I came in at the very beginning of a 3 week tour of Scotland for a helmet and to have my derailleur looked at, which was getting stuck in one gear. I had examined it for a while to no avail, but the guys at Gear Bikes spotted the problem and fixed it in minutes, setting me off properly on my journey.
D. M.
Fantastic shop and service. Put an old bike in because I thought I had two punctures. The owner blew up the tyres, adjusted and tightened everything up and didn’t charge a thing. Faith in humanity is restored when you’re presented with such decency. Wouldn’t go anywhere else from now on.
S. B.
At Gear bikes we always get excellent customer service and great value for money.
They are experts when it comes to bikes and I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for help and honest advice or a new bike. Their knowledge is second to none and the shop is only a few mins of the M8 motorway.
The best bike shop in glasgow.
M. F.
Quality service as always. Great communication. A local bike shop that you can rely on!
j. d.
I have to say i am delighted with the service and price from this shop. I got my bike fixed on the speedy service and was updated on its progress. If i am to buy a new bike i know where i would go . Thank you so much gear bikes I wont go anywhere else for a bike service . Thank you

Got bike serviced at a different shop; felt like something was rubbing. Took along to gear; they removed a wrong-sized washer on my back wheel, replaced, let me borrow their pump and charged me nothing. Great guys - much appreciated and helpful
L. A.
Really helpful and clearly know their stuff! I am grateful for the advice & delighted with my purchase. I would highly recommend, especially to those with limited knowledge of bikes and cycling (like me) - friendly and good value. Thank you!
B. M.
Super friendly and helpful staff! I came in with questions about a helmet and lock, and I got lots of recommendations and help. I'm not sure the name of who helped me (tattoos, spacers) but he was awesome and attentive. I'll be back for any other gear I need. Thank you! :)
Z. J.

The people from Gear Bikes and especially Joe Allen could not have been more helpful and accomodating to us. I messed up the train times and we would have not been able to pick up the bikes and they opened the shop a little earlier to help us out. Couldn't be more grateful!
R. W.
Got my puncture fixed here on Easter Sunday - not only was I grateful the shop was even open but the shop owner was so lovely and did such a great job I felt I had to leave a review. Would definitely recommend.

My very neglected 14 year old bike was rescued by a Gear service last year. Yet again after this year’s service it feels like a new bike!

Cyling experience around Glasgow.
At the begin of June 2015 I had a meeting in the SECC and decided to combine it with some cycling exploration of the surroundings. I rented a fine bike (24 gears almost new) at Gearbikes. They were very helpful: adjusted the bike to my size, and off I went.
There are many cyclists in Glasgow, and often there are separate cycle lanes, so it is pretty safe. Which meant that I had an excellent mens of transportation between my hotel and the SECC.
I used the Sustrans cycling booklet for Glasgow and surroundings, which was very clear and informative. It presents itineraires that follow canals and old railway tracks and therefore are often traffic free. Went to Loch Lomond (up to Luss, where I took the Waterbus), along the Clyde and Forth canal all the way to the Falkirk Wheel, and finally upstream alomg the Clyde to Uddingston. Perfect cycling, very little climbing and beautiful views.

K. S.
Brilliant place, tyres were fixed within a flash. Couldn't have asked for better service
D. S.
These are great guys at a good location for quick access to the University of Glasgow, the Kelvin River and the Clyde and Forth Canal. For just 35 pounds, they set me up for two unforgettable days of mainly flat biking north to Milngavie and the start of the West Highland Way, and also along the Clyde and Forth Canal to Edinburgh. The variety and splendor of the scenery along the canal is amazing given that it runs through the industrial heartland of Scotland--in surprisingly little of it are you aware of motorways, subdivisions, etc. The ease of the train connection back to Glasgow will impress any American. You can make it all the way in one long day or two leisurely ones.
P. T.
Been going to Gear for 15 years. Top shop, top staff, always good friendly banter and fab service. Nowhere better. Professor Denim, Glasgow
