Alistair saved our cycling tour when a spoke broke in my son’s back bike wheel. It was a pleasure watching him rebuild the entire wheel with such skill and apparent ease as he regaled us with stories and plied us with tea and biscuits. Far from being an interruption to our holiday it became one of it’s highlights. Worth getting your wheel buckled if only to visit Wheelcraft.

Excellent help, the staff are lovely and helped me fix my bike really quickly and showed me what to do :)

Without a doubt the best chat and experts around! Well worth the travel to have a chin wag with Big Al whilst my wheel rebuilt around my igh. I'll happily recommend and revisit the wheelcraft! Makes a good brew too! Ensure you have plenty time spare for a chat as it's not a in and out affair. Superb customer service! Pricing very fair and old school vibes. Thanks guys.

As always it was a delight to enter this wonderland of cycling.
If you need something for your bike you'll get it here. If he hasn't got it (or can't find it) Alastair and his band of helpers will get it for you.
We had been given a bike for our youngest daughter and put it in for a service. With a quick seat height adjustment she was able to cycle home.
And if you are feeling brave you can cut yourself a slice of Alastair's legendary coffee - you will cruise home.

Fantastic service. Big Al fixed my wheel for me while I waited and told me stories of cycling adventures on the roads where I live in Ayrshire and I listened while enjoying a cup of bean to cup coffee. Big Al a true character with character. Also bought a rear wheel which looks great plus looks superbly built. Will put it on a bike tomorrow and take it for a spin. Aso got a couple of tyres and a seat pin. I would encourage all cyclists to visit Wheelcraft.

After having issues with constantly breaking spokes with my rear wheel I was recommended to try big Al at wheelcraft and I'm glad that I did as he gave me alot of his time and alot Of useful advice advising me that I needed a stronger wheel with a higher spoke count. So I got a couple of wheels built and they are fantastic and just what I needed and all for a great price. Also all the mechanics are friendly and very helpful and they managed to get my gears running smoothly and fitted new pedals that I provided at no extra charge. I will be back

Absolutely great shop. Lots of new and old wheels and parts for all, there won't be many bikes that can't be fixed up here. Buckled wheel and broken spokes fixed in 30 mins and on the road again. Staff are excellent.

Al gave me excellent advice and i absolutely love my hand-built wheels. I was fed up with breaking ready made wheelsets. Al's wheels are strong, made with great components and he is very friendly. It was near Christmas when i took delivery and I received a fudge bar with my wheels too- thank you!

I turned up to get a spoke replaced and Big Al noticed that the Stan's rim had a crack in it so I left with a new rim and spokes.
I drank so much coffee I took 3 hours to get to sleep.
Ate many jam doughnuts.
And it only cost just over 30 pounds.
Plus the new wheel was far better than the Stan's rim I had before.

Been coming to Wheelcraft (big Al's) or over 20 years,
They are just fabulous, the mechanics are excentric the weelbuilders are the most friendly bunch you'll ever meet.
The coffee is strong 😄 turn up cold and wet and they will offer to put your wet gear in the tumble dryer and give you a pot noodle...
There are two fantastic Bike mechanics who can takle anything and advise on all aspects of cycling.
Turn up on Saturday from 10, till late afternoon and there are usually a bunch of friendly cyclists who love to chat (loads of advice and stories)
This is a shop from the good old days not many left

Pretty much had all my wheels built here in last 15 years apart from TT carbon wheels, it's well worth a trip as big Al will tell you what you need not what you think you want... Always at a great price. Forget factory built wheels, get some proper ones. It's also an Aladdin's cave for other bike stuff too, you'll find way more useful stuff here than the online shops and get a strong coffee and banter. An institution for Scottish cyclists :)

Amazing place, amazing bloke. Sensible advice and incredible value - he talked me out of buying more expensive hubs that I really didn't need. Built two bikes up now and wheels are fantastic on both of them. He also managed to get my wheels back to me in Fife through his contacts of other customers. The only place to go to in central Scotland for wheels.

Wheelcraft is a legend amongst bike fanatics. Alastair rebuilt the mangled front wheel of my Bianchi racing bike after an altercation on a steep downhill with an angry pot hole. Top notch service at a really great price makes for a go to place every time. No question! And yes, always lovely coffee on offer....

It was my first visit to Al at Wheelcraft after being recommended by another Cycle shop in Glasgow - What an experience! Al is one of a kind. On establishing it was my first visit, Al’s first comment was “Well you’ll be needing a coffee then, help your self. And do you fancy some homemade cake as well”’
I had my Son’s deep section carbon CX wheel to be trued. After an hour or so of fascinating Cycle banter. He advised that the spokes and nipples had corroded too badly, and he ended up completely rebuilding the wheel with new ‘Black’ spokes and nipples - all for £30. An absolute bargain
To top it all, he telephoned the following night to check that I was happy with the job and offered to retention it next time i was in the area
What a service - if I could give more than 5 stars I would ⭐️

What a great place ! Absolutely amazing !
We were welcomed with great fresh coffee, a very nice chat about bike and life and other things and also, I can't stress how talented Big Al is !
Went in with a seriously damaged wheel and came home with what now looks like a new wheel !
Thanks for everything and I will definitely be going back to Wheelcraft !

Best value hand built wheels around. Big Al is a legend around these parts and with good reason. Be aware though that once you step inside it may take you a while to get back out ;-)

Been to Big Al a few times now & can honestly say he's a legend, patters great ,stories are great and staff are great & the quality of workmanship outstanding.
Built me a rear wheel as I'm a big guy and prone to breaking spokes, not had one broken spoke in over 18 months, cheers Big Al,will be up soon for my front wheel.

Big Al's - the ONLY place to get your wheels built, re-built or trued.
Visiting the shop is a unique experience - friendly and sensory overload.
You can taste, as well as smell, the coffee!

Place is amazing, just what I have been looking for, a bike Alladin's cave. The free coffee is also amazing, best tasting cuppa for a long time.

Wheelcraft is the best bike shop in the area. I used to frequent the shop regularly when i was a teenager. I will drag my family in to the glen and sample some of Al's hospitality I cant wait to get back to my old stomping grounds

I've been running past Wheelcraft for many a long year on my way up onto the Campsie Fells....I always got a cheery wave and ultimately decided to go in and see Al and the lads...great fun, always friendly and supportive...and know what they are talking about.
Al's wheels are simply magic; the guys supporting are always there to help. I got a hand built steely built 10 years ago..it's still top notch....quality is never compromised. Use Wheelcraft, take in the fun, enjoy a wee coffee or a snack, get the craic, and the guys will look after you. It's not all about price, and the web...there's more to it than that..enjoy.
Here's to happy and safe riding, spin Al's wheels or some nearly as-good-as...!! Best regards, Denis.

For years myself and my friends have ridden the local trails on our MTB`s, many times we(usually I) have trashed components and wheels only to limp along to Clachan of Campsie for a fix, usually on tick as we tend not to carry much money on supposed 3hr rides!
Not only does Al help fix the bikes but he also does human repairs, usually consisting of iodine spray & uber strength coffee to help you home.
The guy is a legend in these parts.
Respect.
