Great bike shop run by Great peoples . in 2 years, I bought 2 cargo bikes (R&M Load 60 & 75) from Harry and he never ever let me down, Great customer services, quality, advices, The staff (Rich) is super qualified and helpful. They had a lot of knowledge and made buying a bike easy. Always professional, know what they are doing and how to help (Make sure you have an appointment). the first think I liked is they doesn't ever try to sell you something you don't need. Nothing more to say. Great shop . Don't change your philosophy. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who want to buy a quality bike.

I bought a Riese & Muller e-bike from Flying Dutchman and the whole experience has been great. It was a significant purchase for me so I was keen to get the right model and the right spec - much like cars, many combinations are available for these e-bikes. Harry and Rich were super patient, from test riding various models to frame sizing they really spent the time to ensure I found the right fit. When I eventually decided to place the manufacturing order, they told me a couple of options I did not plan to select were a must - turns out that was right. Luckily I took their lead, and 3 months later I know I got the spec spot on for my commute and riding style. There was true added value in their advice. I took delivery of the e-bike well ahead of the initial estimate. I have since visited a couple of times for a check-up and an inspection and the service was great - Harry fit the visits to my schedule at very short notice. As for the e-bike, not only it is truly outstanding, it changed my experience of London. Even in the coldest days I really look forward to the new commute - bring on them hills!

Bought my first bike with Flying Dutchman Bikes (FDB) in May 2020, a Gazelle Chamonix C7. Have been happy with the bike, comfortable riding position, although a couple of hiccups with the chain system they have on the Gazelle which were promptly resolved by the team at FDB. Second bike recently bought, a R&M Roadster which to me is a bike to be described only with superlatives! This also describes the products offered by FDB which are top of the line quality companies (Gazelle, R&M, Tern, Bosch) choosing to focus on the high end. I have 'tricked out' the R&M with a few bits, which is quite specialist labour intensive work, and they have been kind enough to be reasonable with pricing. Since my initial purchase with FDB my experience has been very personal, being an independent and 'niche' cycling shop. Even though the team is small I have received responses to emails, even on weekends! I've been able to book in slots with them at a moments notice and they always are able to fit me in, for what I believe must be a very busy time for the bike industry. I am based in East London and still choose to go into central for their services rather than the many alternatives in my local area. I would highly recommend Flying Dutchman Bikes.

I needed a bike in a hurry at the start of the summer to commute into work during the pandemic and I found Harry to be incredibly helpful, patient and generous with his advice. I booked an appointment at the shop to try out a few options and left 24 hours later with a Pilen Lyx which I’ve been using daily since. The Flying Dutchman really does give you excellent service (you get the impression that they’re more concerned you find the bike that’s right for you, rather than in simply making a sale) and this week I returned to the shop for a 3 month check up (free of charge). Definitely book an appointment if you’ve seen something you like - I would highly recommend.

If I could give more than five stars I would. Where shall I start with my praise? Wishing to explore the notion of a quality European bike I called and made an appointment. On arrival Kristina asked me what I had in mind and talked me through the options. The experience was of calm, personal and highly competent guidance. Great range and variety of top-quality European bicycles (Dutch (obviously!), German, Belgian, Swedish – and probably more I don’t know about) including cargo and electric. I tried a couple of bikes but stock was low so we agreed I would return three weeks later after replenishment. I returned and felt just like Goldilocks: after trying three bikes I found the one that was perfect for me! A Swedish brand with Japanese hub gears. I ordered with Kristina’s help, configuring my personal choices, and it arrived promptly three weeks later. Harry assembled it for me next day - virtually on the eve of Covid lockdown. Every time I look at my beautiful bike I feel a big love. My previous bike was great – a classic British Pashley which I rode for 20 years. But my Pilen is like a Rolls Royce. Though heavy and more upright, the ride and the gears are so unbelievably smooth that it feels like an effortless glide more than the good workout that it is. Finally, I had a sudden rear wheel puncture last weekend and, as the Flying Dutchman was closed, I went to a local cycle shop for repair. It was fine but the gear adjustment was not right and kind of ‘crunchy’. The best efforts of the mechanic improved but could not correct it. I called Kristina to ask for help first thing on the Monday morning and agreed to pop in at 4.30pm. When I arrived, Harry came out, looked at the gears and with his fingers seemed to twiddle something on the hub and then at the handlebar. It took perhaps 20 seconds or less. He said “try it”… so I took it for a good spin and it was like new. When I returned I asked how he had done it. “Magic” he said with a wry smile, echoing the thought that had been in my mind as I had ridden around testing the bike hard. All in all this shop and its people are brilliant. I cannot believe the negative reviews and admire the patient responses that have been given.

I think it's important when buying an e-bike is to know that you will be in good hands for services and advice afterwards - and that is very much the case here. The Dutch have this down to a tee, so I thought I'd check out Flying Dutchman Bikes as they sounded like specialists in the field of utility biking. The shop in Camden is gorgeous, and the owners were quick to work out what kinds of bike would be suitable for my needs (and my budget). I tested a few, then picked my favourite and placed an order on the spot! It was so nice to ride an upright bike, and because London is so flat these Dutch bikes really make a lot of sense. The bike arrived a few days ago and I am thrilled not to have to rely on public transport any more! FD is a small shop but it should not put you off buying with total confidence, it was Kristina who looked after me and was superb, very knowledgeable on all the bikes. I had the best experience in this bike shop. I have atypical, vintage brakes that needed fixing and the owners very quickly located the needed parts, imported them and fixed the bike. They were consulting me during the process and made sure that I agree with all the changes they made to the bike - and they made some small fixes and adjustments to make the bike better, at no extra charge. I found the prices to be very fair and significantly more attractive than what I was quoted in a high street chain bike shop. Let's face it who wants to be stuck in London gridlock paying a congestion charge (somewhat ironic), when you can cycle through the static car lines? I took my old bike in to get the brakes fixed and discovered that they have so many gorgeous bikes and accessories in the Flying Dutchman shop! They have really practical things as well, things that you just don't see in the UK. While the brakes were getting fixed one of the owners explained all about dynamo lights, and they seem like such a good idea that I took the plunge and bought a set - they're really bright and they are fixed to the bike, so I never have to remember to bring them with me :) The only thing is... my bike is starting to look pretty old and tatty alongside all these shiny new ones! Maybe I will treat it to some recycled Clarijs panniers for Christmas :)
