We often take our dog for a walk there. A beautiful tranquil place. Saw a heron the last time we walked by the river!
C. W.
Brilliant place on a cold sunny winters day. Just go and enjoy the nature and amazing views

A fantastic family-friendly bike trail. We started our 13 mile ride from the beginning of the Plym Valley trail at Coypool Park & Ride. We tracked our way continously uphill until we joined Drake's Trail in the Dartmoor National Park. We rode through woods, over viaducts, inside long, darkened tunnels, and along roads going through Dartmoor. Uphill there - downhil on the way back.

Fantastic Trail that takes in the beauty and bliss of nature between Plymouth and Tavistock. Walking this in sections or riding the entirety are both fantastic, bikes can be hired for the day (Approx. 15 pounds) from Plymouth, Tavistock and Yelverton. The 21-mile trail takes you through the Dartmoor National park, small towns, over bridges and along quiet roads. It is such a peaceful and tranquil walk. We snuck off the track occasionally to take in woodlands or investigate little creeks which provide such magnificent photographs. The trail is brimming with Fauna, we had the opportunity to see native birds, sheep, Squirrels and the famous Dartmoor horses. A squirrel even dropped ½ a bagel and himself onto one of the group, I don’t know who was more shocked!

I cycled here today for some exercise. I was blown away by how beautiful this area is. It's taken my four years of living in Plymouth to discover this incredible park. I will definitely come back here again.

I knew this cycle route was there but had never visited before; I wish I’d been sooner
Amazing route with stunning views and even on a busy July Sat it was not overcrowded. Plenty of space for cyclists and casual walkers

What an outdoor wonderland this area is! Woods, rivers ( with places to swim ), steam engines, level crossings, birds, weirs, tunnels and fantastic bridges built above ravines 150' below. It's all so magical and it's all free. Whether you walk or bike ride, the scenery is fascinating, unique and truly spectacular. You can bike ride 7.5 miles and have a pub lunch at the Skylark pub or 10 miles to Yelverton and 14 miles to Burrator reservoir with all its majesty. Don't forget you have to get back as well!! We are blessed with an old railway track modernised and used by thousands for pleasure and as a shortcut to get to/from work. From Yelverton you can take Drakes trail to Tavistock which also has a spectacular bridge. How lucky the people of Plymouth are. Oh, and just for good measure we have Devonport/Plymouth Leat......built by prisoners, a unique waterway that used to provide fresh water to Plymouth dockyard area from way up in Dartmoor ....and it follows the contours of the land throughout it's length. Joy....in every direction!!. A must for everyone...of all ages.

Great trail and enjoyed the bit we walked on.

Absolutely stunning place , views are exceptional , breathtaking

what an awesome day out with the kids cycling highly recomended. We went from the central carpark in Tavistock all the way to Sutton Harbour. Our youngest was 12 so altough a long way it's mostly downhill and do able for most ages.
M. C.
Such scenery, Dartmoor is beautiful and so easy to explore from Plymouth
J. D.
Rely nice ride however the signage from Bedford bridge carpark was no existent. If a member of the public had not said walk up very steep path and through two gates we would not have done it. Lots of people were also baffled by the no signage too. Great ride into Tavistock once we found it though
R.
I cycled this Trail with friends starting in Tavistock and following it all the way to the Barbican in Plymouth. This is without doubt one of the best trails I've ever experienced with the most marvellous scenery all the way.
B. B.
Absolutely soaked through but drainage keeps it all off the path, fences are solid so dog didn't chase any sheep but pity its still all uphill on the uphill!
R. C.
Traffic free and gentle incline to the moors on way out, back in to Plymouth you feel rocket propelled. A pleasure to use and never too busy. Remember your bell for pedestrians and their dogs.
A. W.
I cycle this route quite often n apart from dog walkers training there puppies n dog walkers thinking it's their back yard!it's a lvly bike ride
R. M.
Drake's trail is one of our favorite trails in Devon. It travels from Plympton to Tavistock mainly along the trackbed of the GWR Plym Valley Railway. As you leave Plympton the trail follows along side the Plym Valley steam railway travels through Plympton woods and over several Viaducts and through the leighbeer tunnel. Shortly after it leaves the trackbed to follow roads into Yelverton
W. M.
This really is a fantastic little cycle track. Suitable for all the family & if you know the area well, there's some amazing places to stop for a break or even a family picnic....
K. M.
started from the carpark in NT Saltram Hs just outside Plymouth and followed National cycle route 27 North out of town up the beautiful Plym valley. Easy cycling and well signposted. Did 12m to Yelverton where there's shops and pub. Easy downhill all the way back, took about 4h altogether with pub stop
T. M.
Lovely scenery, watch out for bike riders though, who don't seem to know that pedestrians might not hear them, they ride so close and you may not be aware that they are passing you.
R. A.
Great well maintained cycle path.
Dog owners have different view.
Stay polite, keep smiling its not a competition.
I'm sure it can be shared
J. F.
