J. M.Found this place on Google maps as a stop off on the way to a self catering holiday. What a gem! A proper butchers shop with a happy friendly butcher. An amazing range. We are giving the chipolatas, streaky bacon and black pudding FIVE stars. Food that tastes as good as it looks and when you cook it doesn't leave a gunky residue in the pan. Oh and the pork pies are great too. It's not too far off the beaten track so make sure that you try FJ Martin butchers
L. F.I came in early Sat just gone to get some big steak fillets for Fathers Day and as always ended up spending more than usual, Steaks were amazing, finished off with their pepper sauce. Best butcher around Colchester, would highly recommend!!
H. G. J.One of the best butchers I’ve been too. Staff are always friendly and smiling and the meats have always been delicious. I’ve had everything from stuff for the BBQ to roasting joints and I’ve always been surprised at how nice they’ve been. They also sell a selection of pies and pastries and I always pop in on my way by to grab a few for home. There can be quite a queue some days, but it goes down quickly and it’s also proof of how good a butchers it really is! 5/5 would recommend!

Unfortunately not the best quality of beef available, especially compared to places like Godfrey's. The cuts were not consistent and there are no dry-aged steaks available.

Great range of meat, as well as bread, pies, cakes etc. And the customer service is the best. Really friendly guys - service with friendly words and a smile and nothing is ever too much trouble. No more supermarket meat for me.

h. c.Always plenty of choice from rib of beef to spatchcocked chicken, plus various flavoured kebabs, sausages etc. Plenty of choices out on display but the friendly staff will always help if you can't see what you want. They also sell eggs, local honey, bread, cakes, cold meats and meat pies.

The staff are fantastic, very knowledgeable and attentive, they know most of their customers by first name. K. K.We have been going to F J Martin Butchers ever since my mum discovered them close to 4 years ago. Service is ALWAYS with a smile. Nothing is ever too much trouble. If you need something special they will do their best to get it for you (game etc). And they have also started recently supplying meat for school dinners at our children's school (which makes us VERY happy). You can't go wrong going their to get your meat, bread, cakes, pies, hams, Christmas meats, game etc.
