I used to live very close to this fabulous shop. I now live in Devon and I miss a proper haggis. I ordered a few as a present for my dad for Christmas and an extra cheeky one for me. They were fantastic. The staff couldn't have been any more helpful and lovely. I'm waiting for next special occasion so I have an excuse to buy more.

Big dip in quality since being bought by Crombies or whatever happened. Used to be able to go to the counter and they would get the cut you needed and measure out he amount you asked for. Now it's basically a supermarket with meats in plastic packaging on shelves. The counter seems to only be there for show now. Still decent quality meat I think but it's lost a lot of charm and service that draws me to a butcher instead of a supermarket.

Superb service, ordered the day before coming back to kent. The guy kindly froze my items. I bought a fresh chicken ham and leek pie which we had 2day and it was so tasty only wish i had bought back a few more.

Stopped here to buy Haggis before returning home. Ended up buying haggis,plus various sausages and pies. Really enjoyed everything we've bought so far as were able to freeze some. I have always loved meat from an early age- but I've never really been around or in a situation where my HUNGER and TASTES were appropriately recognised. That leads me to Crombies; an independently wonderful butchers where one can experience only the best of animal and pastry related products. I think they also make other things, I didn't indulge myself in them, but I'm sure they're the mustard. Their pies... good lord... (affably affordable, yet I'd pay through the roof for them. Possibly to the heavens.) All of this is delivered concisely by their kind and wholesome staff. Specifically the Hot Food Counter Man: you're a real fella! Ultimately, a riveting treat from start to finish and a rare instance of heaven on earth- or rather, heaven on Edinburgh! God bless!

Crombies is a favourite butchers of ours. Their meat is always fresh and delicious once cooked. Their filled baguettes are delicious if you need to grab something quick for lunch on the go. Their baguettes are pretty close to a proper french baguette, and always have a good variety of delicious fillings that change throughout the week. Aside from the great variety of meat from their large butcher section, they also sell ready meals, jams and chutneys, potatoes, onions and more. This is all topped of by the lovely lady who serves. I usually have a wee natter with her where we discuss the serious issues in life - such as the pros and cons of face masks. Pros: we don't have to worry about make up so much; Cons: they can leave annoying marks on your face if wearing for prolonged periods of time. 😁 I also worry for her warmth being at the checkout right next to the automatic doors. She assures me, she layers up for warmth. 😆 In all seriousness - great quality of produce, knowledgeable and helpful staff, good value money-wise for the quality of produce and always time for a quick, friendly chat. I absolutely recommend Crombies. 10/10 🤩

I buy mail order from Crombies, as their sausages are simply the best I've ever tasted. I like the way they describe each product. I like my sausages with quite a smooth ground filling. But there's something for all tastes. Favourite must be their pork and Edinburgh ale, with Currywurst coming in a close second. Their bacon's cut on the thin side, but I'm sure if I asked they'd slice to my taste. I can also recommend their pork ribs. Great in a slow cooker then finished in the oven. Delicious Excellent value and service

Any of Edinburgh’s good carnivores will tell you that Crombies is a firm favourite of meat lovers across the city. Occupying sausage heaven on Broughton Street, Crombies meat cabinet is something to behold. First of all there are the sausages. Dozens of different flavour combinations make for an almost impossible choice. Imagine Mediterranean-style sausages with sundried tomatoes and herbs, wild boar, venison and my personal favourite, the Broughton Banger. You will not find better sausages in Edinburgh. And, Crombies even sells baps, so it really is a one-stop-shop to get everything you need to make an incredible sausage roll. Beyond the sausages, Crombies has everything you would expect a good butcher to have. I regularly order in special cuts of meat, and it’s never too much trouble to prepare anything in the manner that a particular recipe demands. There’s also Crombies award-winning steak pie – tasting is believing with this one. Crombies has another string to its bow; it serves hot food. Morning rolls will see you through a long day and hearty lunches – chilli con carne, curries and hog roast rolls – will see you full right through until dinner time. A Broughton hot spot, the next time it’s a sausage you’re after, get yourself along to Crombies. One bite and you’ll be a lifelong fan for sure.

Found a bit of bone in my sausage only to be told sometimes that happens. Took it back,Got offered another,but when I jokingly asked for a freebie i thought he was gonna punch me ha ha. So got money back.Having bought cheap and expensive sausages in the the past I have never found bone. On the upside the one bite I had was tasty enough. Bit overpriced,staff seem bored and hot lunch time meals were bland.

My friendly local butcher store! This is a destination butcher - it's worth a trip just to see the display of sausages! There are at least 20 different ones available - from the usual pork/pork+leek/cumberland etc, to the more experimental (wild boar/whisky/innis and gunn) and seasonal specials (5 nations, world cup, edinburgh festival). Saturdays there is often a tasting station too so go early before they run out! I have it on good authority that their weekday breakfast bar selling sausage and/or bacon sandwiches is a worthy stop for those on the hoof past Broughton St (no seating). Check out the pies too.
