I have been going to Marc, and his father Mike before him, for almost 25 years ... Highland Organic Butchers as it was known then, and now Marc Johns Butchers have high quality Soil Association certified organic meat and poultry at about 25% less than you would pay in any of your nearby supermarkets! It is particularly cost effective if you are a larger family and have a freezer - their mixed meat packs are just amazing value ... and if you want more exotic meats Marc stocks a wide range - bison, ostrich, corcodile, kangaroo are all options, though I prefer their fresh sausages and kebabs on my my BBQ. Marc and his team are always helpful and informative and he now even stocks a really good range of organic pantry essentials and deli specialities, like pasta, jams and sauces, olives, oils and nuts ... they’re just the best local organic one stop shop!

Lovely family-run organic butcher. They do amazing value deals for frozen meat and poultry- we worked out it's about 25% less than what you get in the big supermarkets when buying organic. You pay about £50 and fill your freezer with various cuts like chicken wings, lamb shoulder, brisket, minced turkey (all organic things you can't buy at the supermarket). They also make their own biltong in interesting flavours that my husband really likes. This picture was taken 24th of December when the shop was filled with cheerful Xmas spirit while preparing everyone's turkeys.

Meat turned up on time (and 1 days notice) and was reasonably priced. It was definitely defrosted on arrival, and perhaps could have done with more ice in the package but the meat was not spoiled, just wet. I would give this 5 star, except for the online shop. Orders can only be made over phone, with no receipt until delivery. For a first time buyer, giving someone your card info in exchange for no proof of order (and no confirmation of price) is a little nerve-wracking and may put some customers off. I would personally much prefer to be able to order through paypal, where a receipt is instantly given.

I have been getting meat from them for a while now, they are always friendly. The quality of meat is great and fresh, and they tell you the source of meat. I think they are very reaonable priced too, so would recommend them to anyone.

We shop exclusively at this lovely family butcher and always have a great experience there. We are organic eaters and have found this the best butcher by a clear mile. Love the packeges they sell.
