After phoning several butchers for rose veal for osso buco without luck, McKannas came up trumps. Beautiful meat cut to order, very helpful and friendly. I also bought a smoked ham hock and French chicken while I was there - both delicious and very good value.

I will give them 10 stars if I can. They are the best butcher ever! Whatever product I want, they have it, and they always give me the best quality. They really know the meat very well and they are super kind and nice.

A shining star and a rarity, these days, is a proper butchers, such as McKanna Meats. They are old-established in Theobald's Road (and nowhere else, AFAIK). You can always count on them to have English leg of lamb -- "We never buy New Zealand" -- and old-fashioned goodies such as oxtail. They are also, incidentally, the only place I know where you can obtain my particular favourite merguez sausages. They truly are a treat; service is always with a smile and chat -- highly recommended if you live in London.

The prices are good but they are not friendly at all. I have been there 3 times and every time they were not nice, friendly or helpful. For me, customer service is essential, I would like them to think the same way. I will not come back again.

Fantastic lads! Excellent quality meat with friendly and knowledgeable service at decent prices. Their sausages are some of the best we've ever purchased and even the pickle/mustard products they buy in are top class. A hidden gem in central London.

Support your local business! But first and foremost, McKanna Meats is a gem in the city. Their meat quality is always the best, and the service is better: friendly and helpful. Their prices are reasonable - more so than Waitrose and it's better quality. I always have a good experience with this shop - give it a try for your next food shop.

If you need a butcher in central London.... here you go. No fuss, no pretty business cards, no need of branding. you just need to count the number of trolleys waiting outside to deliver the meat to the local restaurant to feel that you found one of the most exquisite and good value price butcher. those guys know their stuff and they do it well.

an excellent local butcher - endlessly patient and helpful, always willing to find the strangest cuts for you excellent quality meat. wonderful old fashioned service that responds well if you do or don't know what you are buying. a tragedy that there are so few butchers like this still around. queues on a saturday morning.

Sometimes you'll see a queue coming out of the door. That says it all. Fabulous selection of fresh meat, plus eggs, stock, cooked meat, garlic, soups, scratchings, duck confit, burgers, snail shells, French hens and tonnes more, but neatly nicely arranged. Friendly bantering butchers. But most importantly excellent quality. Proper ingredients that inspire you to get cooking. And not over-priced like some London vendors. You can literally see the quality. The cote de boeuf (beef rib) looked amazing. Great looking chickens and ducks too.

We bought a fresh roasting chicken last Sept. while renting an apartment and wish we had discovered McKanna's earlier in our stay. The chicken was of unsurpassed quality and at a fair price. Terrific service by the staff, as well. We miss McKanna's!

What a great butchers this is If all butchers were like this the world would be a better place They serve usual cuts of meat but also more unusual Go there for game birds rabbit oxtail all fresh and served with a smile or advice on best way to cook Buy a full rack of ribs there or some well hung steaks Try this place and forget about supermarket meat for the rest of your life - this is a premiership butcher compared to third division supermarket butchers (morrisons probably only supermarket who has something similar but not as good I am afraid) Prices reasonable for the product available Give it a go you will not regret it

I live overseas and I have been ordering meat from McKanna Meats whenever I am in London. I go in and select the meats, they individually pack & freeze the meat. I them pop along on the day of my departure and pack the meat in my cooler bag and take it on the plane with me (the meat goes into the airplane's hold where it is very cold). 13 hours later I unpack the meat at home and it is still frozen. Meat is always top quality and so is service.
