B. H.The Butchers Block is a quality family run butchers that I can’t recommend highly enough. Matt and Jess go out of their way to get me those less common cuts of meat when I’m cooking something different. The quality of the meat is always exceptional. Dan’s farmhouse sausages are perfection too. If you want to help a local business and eat quality meat that’s reasonably priced you need to get yourself there!
S.Could not have asked for better! Fantastic food, only tried a bit so far and it's been delicious. Customer service has been second to none right from the start, I made an unreasonable order late on a Friday afternoon after realising my freezer was empty, great communication and it was ready to collect the next day. Such a warm welcome, we are looking forward to our next visit!

The staff are very knowledgeable about the best cuts of meat for different meals and the quality is above and beyond what you'll find in the supermarket! The Butchers Block stocks lots of local products such as Yorkshire Wolds apple juice and Yorkshire pasta. Two of my favourite meats so far are the minted lamb chops and the range of handmade sausages in various flavours. On top of the great quality of food, the service is very helpful and friendly. A new favourite butchers which you must try!

D. S.A gem of a local business. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, the products on offer are high quality and very tasty. I regularly use TBB now instead of supermarket. It's very competitively priced given the quality. I've had marinated pork and chicken, tried their range of handmade sausages (just got some lamb ones to try out), duck breast, whole local chicken, smoked and unsmoked bacon (wonderful), black pudding, rabbit, burgers, eggs and they have all been great. Just had a local pork pie for lunch and that too was cracking. I'll be back for more. It's a small shop and it's great that they make sure everyone is covid safe while there. Very lucky it's only 5 minutes away from me.

P.The Block is a great and friendly family shop, great selection of meats (beef and chicken mainly for me), one of the few places in York were you can order some old school delicatessen as sweet breads. The homemade sausages and black pudding are especially good and highly recommended. Friendly folks working with care and empathy.

S. W.Very friendly staff. Welsh Dragon sausages (leek & chilli) were amazing tasting and amazing quality meat. Mince beef also very good and all great value for money Can't recommend these guys enough. They are also one of only two stockists of Blueberry Hill Preseves in York whose hot garlic pickle is to die for.
L.Sadly, this establishment has recently decided to start discriminating against disabled people, unable to wear a mask for health reasons. Huge sign outside shop saying even those in visors are not welcome inside - they are forced to stand outside in all weathers and pay through a window.
As the mother of two children with additional needs, I feel a duty to alert others to establishments that are not respecting disability discrimination laws.
Apart from that, the shop has an impressive range of fresh meats, deli items and local chutneys etc, which you will be allowed in to browse if you don’t have a disability rendering you unable to wear a mask. The staff are all super pleasant and friendly. There are gluten-free options, and outdoor bred poultry is often available. Truly saddened that we don’t feel welcome in any more.
