I went to look at a Hyundai Bayon with my wife, with a view to leasing once again on the Motability scheme. Having had 4 previous cars from other dealers, that had all been very good to excellent, my standards were set high. We were looked after by Angelo and the whole experience was excellent. A test drive was immediately arranged and the negotiations upon our return were first class. Angelo was knowledgeable and helpful and I ordered a Bayon to the exact specifications that I was seeking. A really first class, established dealer - and the coffees were excellent too! I have a long wait for the car, but sadly that is the norm in post Covid times

Post lockdown I rang to arrange a test drive of a new Hyundai Kona. Salesman Tom was helpful and knowledgeable. Safe Covid procedures were followed throughout and I liked the relaxed helpful attitude of the staff. I didn't feel at all 'pressured' to commit. All in all, a very pleasant post-lockdown experience.

My car was fitted in for the usual MOT and servicing. There was a huge backlog of work for the garage but they fitted me in within a reasonable time frame. They also fixed a nagging problem with the rear seat. Great service.

Sales team are great. Unfortunately the service team are not. We collected our car. It had oily finger marks everywhere on the interior, they had obviously got in with oily boots as the carpets were thick with oil, outside there were more oily finger marks. Oh and a clean is part of the service, which they obviously forgot.

I went in with my car today to book a service, the staff had a lot of patience and was very honest, the lady at the service reception didn't really knew that much about mecanics when i asked her if the water pump is driven by the timing belt or drive belt she didn't knew BUT She went in the back to ask and she told me that they replace it only If it goes bad although she didn't answered with one of the two options i gave her i knew already from the answer she came with that it's driven by the drive belt and i really apreciated her effort and honesty , she saved me from spending money on a new water pump .
The only thing that i didn't really like it's that they said they will put in a thinner oil than the car used before ( most of the time) they reccomended 5w-30 instead of 10w-40 ( the car was on 5w-30 only once or twice in the past and in the rest of the time in 10w-40) and this is good and bad but more bad 5w- more lubrication when you start the car in cold weather , 30 means thinner oil that gets too thin from mentaining high speed for a long time and loses some of it's lubrication properties and as You can see it's a sports car 😂 .
And for those who are confused about the oil codes:
(5w-20= grandma//// 15w-50= nurbering& drag strip)
* So far i'm happy with the experience and i'll come with an update to this rewiev after the service and if i see that all the work has been done and corectly done without the car shaking like mad from being one or two teeth out of timing i would definetly recomend this service
( I booked in a full service + timing belt and drive belts+MOT) they have a very good price on the full service too, almost forgot to mention.
(Edit: 3 weeks later i had my full service+MOT + timing belt and drive belts they had it for only one day and a quarter and they already called me to pick it up, they also gave me 1 year free break down cover , they also solved the sqeek from the power steering which i mentioned after the quotation and since is December they made my MOT for 13 months instead of 12
They also gave me a page with a full report about the car and they charged me 10£ less than they quoted me 😂
BUT i had a bad experience with them : when i started the car there was a noise coming from under the bonnet, a grinding/ plastic flickering noise, i shut down the car, told them , they got it back in the service, 10 min later they came back and said ,, we're sorry IT was a piece of card board creating the noise" problem solved, bad experience gone 😁 , they did a good job and i'm happy!
Would i recomend them? YES - any time of the day and any day of the year

Outstanding all round service from Angela who's a really nice guy into the bargin! Love my new Kona hybrid, so much car for such a reasonable price and to top it off, just short of 50mpg straight out of the box! Over the past 15 years I have bought 3 new cars from Berkeley Vale Motors, a Tucson Zenith and 2 iX35s. I was very happy with all 3 vehicles. I would have stayed with Hyundai except that when I was looking for a new car they did not produce a hybrid car to meet my specification. I went to another brand that did. After 6 years with 2 consecutive cars I wanted to stay with a hybrid but the manufacturer had stopped making a hybrid variant.
I went back to Hyundai and researched the Ionic hybrid. I dealt most of the time discussing it with Aaron Smith. He was a most impressive sales executive. He was confident, well informed and actually listened to what I needed from a new car. He knew that cost was not a prime factor and that it would be a cash purchase. Never-the-less, he looked at several ways of producing a very good value for money quotation. I was pretty convinced this was the car for me. I have always found Hyundai to be leaders in value for money cars. I thought the valuation of my potential trade-in hybrid was a bit on the low side so I went back to the original regional dealership. They produced a much higher trade-in valuation and increased their loyal customer new car discount. It was too good an offer to pass over.
When I told Aaron I was going with the other dealer for a non-hybrid, much higher specification and performance vehicle he admitted that he could not match the other quotation. He did say to keep Berkeley Vale in mind for my next car. I think it would be difficult to find another customer-oriented salesman as good as Aaron. As a former Managing Director I am aware of all the subtle tricks played by sales staff to secure a sale. Aaron did not try any of them. He was up front in his whole approach to advising on and selling me a new car. My 5-star assessment is specific to Aaron but I have been pleased in my dealings with other Berkeley Vale sales staff over the years.
I cannot rate the service side of the business with such enthusiasm though. Based on my personal experience they are not up to the level of the sales staff. It was a minor element in coming to my final decision.
I won’t apologise for this extended review. I believe in giving credit for a good performance at such a high level.
