Clarke Marsh is a great ambassador for this dealership. I purchased my car through distance selling which is never exactly easy for the buyer or seller simply because there is no 'touch and feel' element. Clarke did his upmost to make my purchase as smooth as possible, answering my numerous questions and posting me various personalised videos. I made an enquiry through Autotrader about a used Jaguar XF on Sunday 1st of May 2022 and had prompt reply by sales executive Mr Steven McPherson. Steven was most helpful in answering my questions about the car concerned over the next few days, communicating with me by both email and telephone. As I live 140 miles or so away from the Shiremoor branch, Steven provided me with a personalised video presentation of the car after which I proceeded to make a virtual Microsoft conference call to discuss further the sale of the motor vehicle on Wednesday 4th May. After a satisfactory presentation and sales offer, I duly the bought the vehicle and took delivery this morning at 8.15 am Saturday the 7th May by way of transporter...three days ahead of schedule. Great customer service from Dan Gales at Shiremore branch. Nothing was too much trouble, he personally made a video of a car for me and provided all the additional info I requested. Good communication on the phone and via email throughout the process. Regrettably I did not purchase the car I was interested through no fault of the dealership, I simply changed my mind for reasons I explained to Dan. He understood my reasons and more importantly, respected my decision which, can be a rarity when so many other salesmen would try to convince you otherwise. Such behaviour simply turns customers away however Dan is clearly more of a professional. Bought a great car and the sale was easy with a good salesman up to the point where the extended warrenty was brought up. I told three different people who kept popping to the desk I was at that I didn't want it but they persisted with what can only be described as pressure sales tactics. I kept getting told again and again 'we would prefer you to take it'. In the end I bought the warranty for a discount so it remains to be seen whether it's any good, this really tainted my experience. Also when picking up the car the interior of the car could have been prepped a little better. The seats and carpets were clean but the rest of the car had quite a lot of dirt and dust on the various surfaces. My initial salesman was off sick on pick up day and as everything was running an hour or so late I was just happy to get away, only to realise the £20 I was told to pay for fuel had not been added so I was on empty when I left the forecourt. You also might want to tell customers what the admin fee really is and that customers do not need to pay for this, in my case it was used as a bargening chip and removed against the price of the warrenty. Mixed feelings about this whole experience and I don't think I'd use Evans Halshaw Shiremoor again.

The vehicle itself was absolutely spotless inside and out and drove like a new model despite having over 50k on the clock. It was a credit to the valeters and technicians that worked on it – I was highly impressed to see new tyres, brake pads and disks and lots of fuel in the car. You could hardly hear the engine running – showing the vehicle and running gear had been well looked after. I actually couldn’t fault the vehicle. I understand of course with any used car that there will be imperfections. I brought some of these up and was reassured by Taylor that these would be rectified come pick up time – if I decided I liked the vehicle and again there was zero pressure – 5* to Taylor for his sales style and making me and wife feel so relaxed. Upon returning from the test drive we talked some numbers and got some trade in values for our 2 British classics. We were happy with the values for the most part. Although 1 of the trade-in values was less than we were expecting we were assured by Taylors sales manager Vitaly, that this was correct as they had done a thorough inspection to come to the conclusion that the car had been crash repaired. He even provided me with a copy of the HPI check for my piece of mind. This confirmed that Vitaly and the team we’re the real deal and made sure all cars on their pitch were the best of standards so I understood their valuation. It was at this point I began to see the benefits of buying from Evans Halshaw compared to other “dealerships”. We took a night to consider our options and went back unannounced the next day to re-discuss the purchase of the vehicle. Unfortunately, Taylor was dealing with another customer however we were then greeted by the ever-friendly Vitaly as he recognised us from the day before. This was a nice touch as he remembered our full names and made the experience personal. He offered us drinks and refreshments while we waited for Taylor. During this time Vitaly was very personable and really made us feel at home in the dealership. Although it wasn’t his job, I asked him about the car and he basically made us see why our new car was the right decision for us. He helped us out with a few extra’s such as warranty etc and I cannot thank him enough for this. He held his promises towards us and even came to speak to us when we sat with Taylor. All in all, we were extremely pleased with our experience of buying a car from Taylor and Vitaly and would highly recommend anyone to do the same. They were professional and kept it contact throughout the process. I have never been to a garage which has such a nice atmosphere and good, friendly people that actually want to help you. An absolute 5-star review and that’s only because I cannot choose any higher. Impeccable customer service from start to finish.
