Ok, here goes...
Just got a Mazda MX5 from Hodgson Mazda, Gateshead Metrocentre and after my experience with the dealers and owning the car for a few days now, clocking up about a hundred and fifty miles in it, I'm ready to write something.
First of all, let me give a big thanks to all of the staff there... from the receptionist who made me a coffee whilst I had to take the lift up to the first floor (I'm limited mobility!). Coffee was waiting for me when I arrived on the first floor to meet Steve Ruffell, the Motabililty guy.
I don't really need to say much... just want to include an email that I sent to Steve which really sums it up in a nutshell about my experience with Mazda, and particularly with Steve who is a no nonsense, down to earth guy, passionate about cars, not pushy at all and wants to give a customer exactly what they want... very refreshing to get as genuine salesman!
Anyway, I will copy the email that I sent to him after a few days of driving the car! Along with a couple of pics.
If anyone viewing this ever wants a testimony or reference before considering buying an MX-5 from Hodgson Mazda in Gateshead, and the level of professionalism and service provided by Steve and his team... feel free to ask me!
Oh btw, order it in red... it is absolutely stunning and the paintwork actually appears to change colour depending upon the angle of the sun and shadows :)

Thanks for calling me this morning and many thanks for the way you have handled this transaction from the first enquiry I made about the car all the way through to picking it up. If you ever need a customer satisfaction survey completed regarding the level of service you have personally provided, then I'm more than happy to fill one in.
Same goes if you have a potential customer who has mobility problems like me and wonders if the car will be practical for them, feel free to give them my details and I will vouch for the car.
It is actually a dream to drive and once I got all of the seat adjustments sorted, I feel comfortable sitting in it for hours.
As you know, I have owned sports cars all my life ranging from the humble to the exotic and I can honestly say this ranks as the best all round car I have had. Performance is good considering it only has a 1.5l engine, probably aided by the fact it has a close ratio 6 speed gearbox, so it's easy to keep it within the optimum power and torque rev band range.
Gear change on it is absolutely perfect and nice and slick. Steering is responsive and overall it handles like a dream if you want to push it hard.
It looks absolutely stunning with the red paint and it certainly attracts a lot of attention wherever I go! Fuel economy is pretty good too, considering most of my driving is on winding hilly country roads, I am still averaging about 38 mpg even though I drive it hard.
I am honestly so happy that I chose the Mazda compared to the other options I considered, such as going for a "hot hatchback", it has brought the fun element back into driving and with a lot more style!

Can highly recommend Stoneacre Mazda at the Metro centre. It still retains a family feel, even though it's now part of a much larger organisation.
I had a problem with a door seal and was advised to book the car in for the day by the call centre, as I also needed a courtesy car.
When I arrived, Stephen in the servicing department very helpfully suggested that he could look at the issue and take photographs while I waited. He then sent them off to the warranty dept. to be assessed. He would then let me know when the part was available. This obviously saved me having to return later in the day to return the courtesy car.
I was delighted to get a call from Stephen the next day to advise that the part had arrived and could be fitted while I waited. As I was in the area I called in straight away and was back on the road before I'd even had time to drink my coffee.
Great that the staff are able to use their initiative to benefit their customers. We've bought several cars from the dealership over the years and have always been delighted by the staff and service you provide. It's also nice to be greeted by name, and made to feel that you're important to them.

Great service from start to finish at Gateshead Mazda. Quick responses and a reasonable approach led me to buy my nearly new Mazda 3 from Stoneacre rather than closer local dealers in Scotland, and to part exchange my existing car. It was certainly worth the trip from Edinburgh for the saving in vehicle price and excellent service. Steve Ruffell gave us a detailed handover when we picked the vehicle up and has followed up since by phone to check everything was OK. I visited Mazda with my husband when getting his car serviced, all staff were polite and helpful, such a pleasant change after having a terrible experience with Audi!! They make you feel welcome and don’t hassle you and on that I decided to go back a week later and buy a car for myself... My husband and I was given the keys to take the car out for a couple of hours without any pressure to buy.... I did decide to buy the car and picked it up 10/03/2020, Hayden who sold us the car was polite and curious at all times and everything was ready on arrival, the handover was brilliant with Ali showing me the controls ect and not rushing us in the slightest, the two reception ladies are easy to talked to and nothing was to much trouble for anybody ,also I would like to mention Stephen Smith who explained everything to my husband when he got his car serviced 2 weeks ago as he was also very friendly and polite. Always drove past here seeing the ‘best dealership’ award banners . Wasn’t until I got a used Mazda and took it in here for a recall I could see why. The staff are really friendly and look after you, very straight forward and keep you up to date with what’s going on. the lady that was looking after customers in the waiting area upstairs was amazing and a credit to the brand. These guys really care for their customers!

Great dealership with excellent service and very, very helpful staff. All staff knew the answers to any questions we asked, and they were always polite and didn’t have the usual pushy sales technique that you see sometimes in some dealers. We were allowed to test drive the cars without any hesitation and weren’t jumped on for a purchase on our return. Every detail was gone over without any confusing jargon, and all costs were itemised so there were no unexpected hidden charges. Manager was very friendly and we purchased the car and have had no problems at all.

This is the first time we've bought a Mazda after years of Toyotas. We bought a CX5 and it is a great car. After an hour's test drive we were sure it was the perfect car for us. After spending months trying to chose my new car I came across a Mazda advert online so thought I’d call into the showroom to have a look.
I care for my Mam full time and because of her issues I often worry about visiting new places. I really didn’t need to worry! From the moment we arrived all of the staff made us feel very welcome and at ease.
I loved the new CX-5 and had a good look around the car with the salesman, Neil. To make things so much easier for me Lesley “entertained” my Mam, making her a cup of tea and sitting chatting with her which made the whole experience so much easier for me. We took the car for a test drive and decided to go ahead.
Neil kept me up to date via email on when the car would be delivered etc.
When we returned to pick up the car the experience was on a whole other level!
You are made to feel so welcome by everyone, no one is “pushy” or trying to get you to buy anything, the atmosphere is very relaxed which helped so much. When they brought the car into the showroom via the tower display it looked amazing! Then everything was explained about my new car, and all of the new gadgets and controls!
The whole experience was 5 star and I couldn’t recommend the dealership and it’s staff enough!

Just got a new CX-5 from here and the whole experience was so easy and pressure free. We test drove one a month ago and were allowed to take it out for over an hour on our own to get a good feel for the car. Got my brand new CX3 couple weeks ago and couldn’t be any more happy with the service I received from Charlie, James and unfortunately I can’t remember the ladies name, who were all very attentive to my needs. Since TYne Mills Hexham closed down I have been getting my new Mazda cars from Hodson Mazda Metro Centre. The first thing I have to say is that I find everyone at this showroom etc. very polkite and helpful , particular Neil and Charlie ,Sales and the product genius Ally who explaines everything to you with regards to a Mazda.
