I live in the USA and found a model kit I fell in love with on their website. I didn't expect them to be willing to ship to the USA, but they were. Nick emailed me back promptly and they had it shipped to me within an hour of my payment going through. I'd expected it to take several weeks to arrive, but I received it a little over a week after ordering. I had never been to this shop before so I didn't know what to expect. I felt the range of stock they had was good & their prices were reasonable. I also found it easy to find a parking space alongside the road.

Been here twice firstly to grab some wheel hexes, wheels and an esc and the gentlemen was very helpful and polite. Popped in again yesterday with my work colleague to grab some bearings for my tamiya, the lady behind the counter was very patient and accommodating and picked out all the sizes indivually to make a full set of 20 bearings! My colleague ended up buying the ftx tracer, which is a great little car by the way! Prices aren't too bad and there is a nice selection of various models. Well worth the visit.

Excellent selection of balsa and all the modelling necessities. Helpful knowledgeable staff there to help. Kits of planed cars trains and boats.... about everything there. So much better than online and without the hassle. Could have spent hours there an Aladins Cave scenario. Highly recommended.

Then I found it at the model shop Northampton website and it was even cheaper than the big places were advertising! So placed my order Friday and received it on Tuesday! a true traditional model shop that sells everything. RC planes boats cars, static vehicle kits, railway, building supplies. its like a sweet shop, but with models. the owner is clearly also a modeller so can help you out with advice. they can also order in almost anything you may need if you cannot see it in their extensive stock.

This place is so cool. It's been on the Welly Rd for EVER. I remember visiting in the mid 80s and spending my pocket money on Airfix aeroplanes and kites. I have just taken my kids in now, and it's just the same! But in a good way! And now they have Motorhead and Kiss Tour Truck sets!! Awesome.

Had mixed feelings before my visit due to some negative reviews about attitude in the shop but found them very helpful and friendly. I only went in to research what's needed in tools for a new hobby and found them quoting me a cheaper price for the actual model kit than anywhere else online, so I ordered from The Model Shop, well worth the visit.

This place is fantastic, selection is great, service is excellent, prices are very competitive, highly recommended. I bought my son a cheap r/c car off ebay for christmas and although it looked good it was a piece of rubbish and broke within a few days. I decided to do it properly and went to the Model shop. Dick offered some excellent advice on what to buy and we're over the moon with the purchase. They charge less than the RRP of the car and I'm amazed with what great quality the product is. I've been shopping here since I was a lad, there's no point going anywhere else. Thanks guys.

One bit of feedback I would give is the website needs to be improved:- Mobile Browsing is very difficult as not configured.

Had ordered an item from a different retailer for a present and was unhappy with their description about the item and what was included. So I needed to compensate on the order with additional items from a local supplier quickly. I was first taken by surprise at a female voice that answered the phone, but she did know her products. My visit resulted in me getting exactly the right present for the person, which was even better and somewhat cheaper than what I had bought from the other online retailer. Both the lady and the owner were extremely helpful, knew the items they had to sell and knew their customers, even the novices, well. If you look at their site, they are very descriptive of their items above other retailers, and their website is seriously undervalued. If you look at the shop from the street, this is also the case, but if they wanted to expand nationally perhaps, and I knew someone with my skills who wasn't in employment, I would be making strong recommendations. If anything is wrong, their marketing, signage Etc, is a little understated and they deliver exceptional service for their product range. Seriously, if you were nervous about going in, you should, you will be very pleasantly surprised. An example of an old school business that severly underestimates it's own potential. Oh, and we gave the gift we bought to the recipient of the present... Beaming from ear to ear, and it was such a pleasure to give. Thank you VERY MUCH The Model Shop Northampton!!

the stock in there is fantastic, I bought a radio-controlled car for my son there 2 years ago and went back to buy another. just a quick note to the guy Behind the Counter .. customers walking in it's normal to say hello and acknowledge .it's not wise to look down your nose at a child for picking something up off the shelf . I didn't buy that car.

Not very helpful staff but ideal for airfix models and train track models but not much else really. The shop itself needs a revamp as its dark and damp and the staff/owner never smiles and some of the items are a tad expensive. They do have a good selection of planes and kites but as i said it needs some tlc

The best place to come for 'proper' model hobbyists. Good range of plastic kits in scales 1/2000 to 1/16 for land, sea, air and even space. All the major kit manufacturers are stocked, plus some kits from lesser known ones. You may well find a gem! They also have a good range of aircraft kits designed to be built and flown, be it RC or tethered. Even rocket kits are available (I believe they are licensed to sell the motors as well). If you're into trains then you won't be disappointed either. There is a plethora of rolling stock, engines, buildings and other scenery. To help you build your models there's a good range of tools, paints, glues etc. There is also an area of 'fun' kits like the Scooby Doo Mystery Mobile and other 'pulp' offerings. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful if you ask for their advice. But be aware that they are definitely not the pushy sales type, so you will need to initiate a dialogue. Don't be afraid to do so though. They are very friendly, helpful, and as I said before knowledgeable. The only downside is parking. Trying to find a place to park on the Wellingborough Road can be, how should I put this...challenging. A great shop well worth a visit.

Superb shop, very knowledgeable staff, friendly and welcoming. Wide range of plastic kit's Airfix, Revell & Tamiya, radio controlled aircraft some ready made and some in kit format. A good range of paints, brushes etc etc, and an exceptional range of locomotives and rolling stock in different gauges and from the main manufacturer's. Such a brilliant shop and the only one of it's kind in the area and well worth travelling to if your passion is modeling of any format. The shop has an online presence and will dispatch orders in the uk. The only negative is that there is very limited parking available.

Had a problem with a non-functioning brand new remote control car, Nick dealt with the issue without any problems when we returned the faulty car and swapped it on the spot. Highly recommended.
