Set up was excellent with 1 phone call, quick booking and text confirmation and reminders,
Car and key drop off was fast and well designed.
Fix for the 2 recall issues was equally efficient. With text confirmation.
Complementary video safety check unexpected and initially resented - felt like drumming up business - but when clicked on was clear and compelling and actually useful.
Booking in for the recommended work (2 new tyres) was also quick and easy with a good quote. But collection was not as good.
Confusion as to where to wait - hard to hear through masks and plexiglass.
Cost higher than tyre quote (around £100+ with no explanation

Nothing terrible but. I used to be a customer (I said as much) for 20 years and then switched to local BMW garage so haven't been to Coupers in a decade. There was no attempt to rebuild any relationship it was all functional and made me feel that as I wasnt a new car customer, a regular customer or in for something major I was just 'passing through' Efficiency but no passion. Where as the cars give me both.

We regularly visit BMW either to have one of our cars MOT’d/serviced or just check out the cars for sale. On this occasion we were having an MOT done for my 2015 X4 and had booked a test drive in the new ix3. (My second.) Whilst waiting for the iX3 to be ready we had a quick look at the cars upstairs, which is where my good intentions all went out the window when I saw a newer version of my X4. We went out on the test drive leaving poor Jake to get the X4 out of its confined corner so I could drive that too.
Jake had been helpful all morning… and patient and once I decided the X4 was for me he handed us over to AJ in sales.
AJ had nearly sold us a beautiful X5 at the same showroom last year, but unfortunately one of her seniors told us we were unable to even drive our pre booked test drive as he had someone else interested. It was extremely embarrassing for both us and AJ and we were so happy she got the chance to sell us another car.
AJ is very personable, efficient and incredibly knowledgeable. We were at the showroom for quite awhile and my husband had to take a couple of meetings whilst we waited but at the end of the day I came away knowing I had a new car. Bonus.
I picked the car up a few days later and AJ was ready with the keys. She explained all the new technology and showed me how to use it. Directed me to all the things I potentially should know and answered all my questions, she even connected my phone for me.
AJ could answer all my husbands questions regarding the switch over and finances. If there was a query she was quick to check that out with a manager.
On this occasion our trip to BMW Reading was a lovely one.
As a side note I would also like to mention Josh, without doubt my favourite member of the BMW team. He has always been extremely helpful to me on the several visits I have had to ask random questions. On the day I picked up the new car we passed on the escalator, obviously wearing masks and he instantly recognised me and also remembered the exact car I was driving AND the registration. To be helpful and polite is a given as a member of staff. To have genuine interest in your customer and their vehicle, that goes above and beyond.

I did not visit the dealership, my car was picked up MOT and service, brake fluid changed and various other issues resolved. However when I went to use the car wouldn’t have been dropped off the battery in the key is now saying that it needs to be changed, it can’t just be a coincidence that when I went out it started to give this indication, the person driving the car before me must’ve seen this, I’d like to know why it wasn’t changed at that time ?

Amazing service from the whole team. My car developed a fault so I had it delivered with very little warning so I wasn’t expecting a quick turn around. However I was called early the next day as the workshop had found availability and started the diagnostic work. Ryan from the service team was fantastic at keeping me updated and the car was fixed in 24hrs.

It was my first time using Inchcape Reading after some horrendous interactions with other BMW dealers. I don't usually leave reviews but was blown away by the absolutely faultless 5star experience I received from Paul Smith, his honest and genuine approach from the second I arrived to the moment I collected my car from the service department was exemplary. Paul kept me informed and made the whole visit painless, the video I received from the mechanic working on my BMW was informative and very much appreciated, I didn't even mind parting with my money for the repairs carried out!! Thank you to Paul and his team for what was genuinely the best customer service experience I have received anywhere.

Sam White was excellent from start to finish. He made the whole experience of car servicing and customer care very special. Kept me informed throughout the day, was engaged and listened to my needs and previous gripes and is a benchmark for the organisation. For once I felt the extra premium I pay to use a BMW dealership was worthwhile. I’m 84 and now care for my husband who has Parkinson’s. I saw the ad in my email for the Winter Service…perfect! I rang Inchcape (Coopers)and in view of my difficulties they agreed to pick up the car. This they did, kept me fully informed of how the car was and subsequently returned it beautifully washed and cleaned. Considering you're the main dealer and I expected to pay a premium for the work, I didn't feel I was necessarily getting a premium service. The car's too smart for its own good and let me know it needed a brake fluid service 3 weeks ago - I booked it in for a service expecting to get the brake fluid and an oil service done and was told that it was 2000 miles too early for the Oil Service and I had to book it in 2 weeks later for the Oil Service and all the other service items that illuminated my dashboard by then. 2 trips to the main dealer, twice I needed to get my wife to pick me up and drop me back - what happened to courtesy cars for crying out loud!!? So - for a premium service, I'd expect someone to call in and pick the car up or leave me a courtesy car. I might as well use my 'backstreet' motor engineer in the futuer and save myslef a couple of hundred quid!?

No problem at all with staff who actually served me, very polite and attentive.
The covid drop off system is nonsense filling out all the details on an envelope, putting in a box then watching them take it out and come talk to you again anyway, no idea what that’s all about, protects nobody.
I was booked in for rear brake pads whilst you wait, estimated timed was 1-1.5 hours, in reality a 20-30 minute job but it took 2.5 hours.
Again, staff absolutely fine but it was a bit of an inconvenience.

The service I receive from BMW is usually of a high standard. This time was not the same. I was kept waiting for more than 20 minutes, no explanation. I thought that I had been forgotten so returned to reception to remind them that no one had been to see me. I had only to collect my car. I waited after been told the salesperson was on the telephone for another 7 or 8 minutes. I was disappointed that when the salesperson arrived there was no apology, nothing, just asked me my name and told me my car was outside…very disappointed to be treated in such a shabby way. I have been a BMW customer for years. I hope this is not a sign of a fall in standards and hope that this was a one off, with this particular person. He was not unpleasant just totally unapologetic given that he had kept me waiting for half an hour…

From my initial enquiry with the used team (Mark Jeffery - who was very patient and helpful!) to going onto the new car sales team and placing an order for my X3 with Steve Champion, the service has been second to none, actually the best I have received from any car dealership- having dealt with a number of them in the past! Although I placed the order for my car in February of this year, there have been delays which were caused either directly or indirectly by the Covid pandemic.

The vehicle itself was serviced as required and cleaned.
However, I didn’t receive a call to say the vehicle was ready and when I called at about 4.30pm I was told it was ready.
Upon collection, the 20% discount was not applied as I had booked online.
I rather embarrassingly had to ask for this to be applied which after a 10 minute wait it was applied.
Then I was only handed 1 of the keys but I had left 2 keys. After a search for the 2nd key it was handed to me.
Your receptionist handled all of this very professionally, however I believe these 3 things should not have occurred.

Everything was great. The loan car arranged and, I asked the representative to also adjust my headlights, as I have retrofitted the Adaptive Xenons for this car. However, I have noticed that they have been adjusted a tad too low, which makes driving at night a little difficult, borderline dangerous. I asked how they were adjusted, as looking through the forums and tech data, it states that a MAHA device is needed to adjust these accurately. However, no one confirmed how the headlights were adjusted. All I was told is that only a little adjustment was required. I may call again to get these adjusted again, so I can see more than 30 metres ahead of me.

The car a BMW520d had its first MOT. I took the option of waiting while they carried out the MOT. The wait was about three hours, one hour longer than I was originally told, but the car came back looking like new.
Overall the level of service was excellent.

Pick up and drop off were good but I told your staff that wanted my rear tyre checked as I kept having tyre pressure alert. Despite all that I was told that the tyre needed to be changed but you didn't have a tyre and told me to leave the car another day. This wasn't possible so you left me to deal with it myself and the tyre was then losing a lot more pressure. Needless to say that this involved me with lot more hassle.

In my opinion, the marker of good service is how you react and respond to issues/mistakes. In short, I had an unforeseen defect with my vehicle after having the car for a fair amount of time. I contacted Andy in the Used Car Sales team who was understanding and very helpful. After some dialogue either way, we agreed on a resolution for the vehicle that was very agreeable to me and went above and beyond, as I believe most of us customers think a main dealer should.
Once the car went into the service department for its repairs, I was handled in a polite, friendly and professional manner by Ryan and kept up to speed as to when I could expect the vehicle back. The vehicle was returned to me in tip-top condition and I am now a very happy customer.
We all know you pay a premium for a main dealer and it is aftersales service and support like this that make it worth while.

Update: I’ve had 2 additional dealings now, whilst their communication is still very poor, they have provided a good actual service. I’d recommend them for servicing as long as you are patient with tardy call backs and slow email (or non existent) responses.
Original: I had my car serviced a couple of days ago. The map update is not at the latest level. I tried to phone their service desk and was told someone would call me back - 25 hours later and no one has. I filled in their web request form to complain and no one has contacted me. Inchape has well trained staff and managed the Mini brand name very well indeed. The sales service I have received is great and have been continously updated about the status. They do not wear a different colour spectacle on Asian unlike Mxrshxll. Ian has been patiently explained everything to us from test drive, model and specifications selection to car collection. Purchased our new X3 and very happy with the whole process. Adnan was a pleasure to deal with and by far the best car sales person we have dealt with during our search to find a replacement for one of our cars.
When I bought my son’s car from Inchcape Basingstoke a few years ago, it wasn’t the best of experiences - so I was pleasantly surprised.
I’d also been a customer of BMW Marshall’s (Hook & Salisbury) for 12 years but they couldn’t be bothered to even respond to my various sales enquiries, so I was pleased to find a proactive BMW dealership in Reading.
Car sales can be a tough game but Adnan knew his stuff and was passionate about the products he sells. He was guaranteed a sale but he sold to us…that’s the secret! He helped us secure a good deal and kept us informed at every stage of the order process.
Based on the experience so far, definitely my favourite BMW dealership in the South - mainly down to a great sales experience so far.

I have now used them to retrofit M Performance parts for my F40 M135i.
It wasn't without few hiccups during the process but all was solved quickly by Arandeep. Whole installation process took 2 days and the job was done to high standards.
Would definitely recommend getting this done as the car looks now absolutely stunning and without a doubt I do recommend this garage for the job even if you leave far away. Just get yourself booked into the hotel next door like I did.

Purchased brand new M135i x-Drive from them and I am glad I did buy from this particular branch.
My first point of contact was Adnan Yasin who went extra mile to accommodate our needs, answered all the questions etc. We actually came in without prior appointment on a way to different dealer but due to his approach decided to purchase my new car then and there. He's indead an asset to the company and if he's still there when I am ready to buy another one I'll definitely be coming back.
Big shout to Francis Reed as well who was dealing with my handover. You can tell he's very knowledgeable and passionate about the cars and the brand.
Both guys got high customer skills and I am glad I've chosen this branch for my new car purchase.
The building itself is quite big, cars are located across three storeys with M performance sub brand on the whole of the second floor. Conivinient location, customer s car park bit small but have just about enough parking spaces.

Disappointed in the lack of flexibility of the dealer. So I paid the asking price. The car's prep was sub standard. Mechanical appeared fine. Exterior prep - partially addressed the scratches, removed a mini dent, did not touch the stone chips which I thought they would during the 'full valet' which was yet to happen when I saw it, car arrived without being polished.
I have improved the car's paintwork condition myself with basic equipment at home, not something I expected to have to do. I appear to have been penalised for not taking the paint protection programme thrust upon me at point of sale.
It's a great car let down by poor preparation.
I had been hoping to discuss this during a follow up call, but this has not come.
I had also been promised an email with a copy of the original V5C....
I still await information and details about the extended warranty & the MOT certificate.
As a lot of my connections in Reading are family or colleagues at 2 of the biggest businesses in your area, I currently would not feel comfortable recommending the dealership, but would recommend the product.

Cooper BMW is a fantastic dealership with a beautiful new facility, a ton of cars to look at and a whole bunch of friendly customer service folks, who are unfortunately let down by a poor service team.
BMW has a multimedia system called ConnectedDrive, and if you purchase this system and have an Android phone good luck getting them to help you with it. ConnectedDrive seems to work almost exclusively with Apple handsets despite what their website reads. I have tried my 65 plate X3 with five different Samsung S series mobile phones and the system doesn't work, despite each phone being on the list of phones that work with the system.
I have been in 5 times now to try to get it working, and each technician gives me the same advice after plugging in their iPhone and the system working flawlessly for them: "if you want it to work, get an iPhone."
That is not acceptable to me, and is very poor service in my opinion. I have raised the issue all the way up to BMW Europe, and they tell me to contact my local service centre. 😐
The other problem with the service team is when you book a hire car to use whilst yours is being serviced. All of the cars on display are M Sport models, and they all have the sport seats. This isn't a problem when you are 5'6" tall, but if you are over 6 feet and weigh more than a twig the sport seats in cars smaller than the 5 series are going to squish your back in the lumbar area, sometimes quite painfully.
Overall I really like the dealership, but I never look forward to having my vehicle serviced.

I bought an almost new BMW 420i Gran Coupe M Sport. Having done a lot of research the price Cooper Reading offered was the most competitive. Had to drive 30 miles but it was worth it. The car I wanted was reserved for 2 hours. Dan was great, he was very friendly and answered all questions we had. He offered the same level of service till we drove off in our new car.
There was no pressure to make a sale. They have a wide range of cars. You get to have a look at as many cars as you want at your leisure and most of them are not locked.Which means you get to see and feel how the car is, features, options etc and the new make a confident choice of what you want. The cars are mainly indoors which means you could go and view them leisurely irrespective of the weather.
Would thoroughly recommend them to anyone.

I took my car for servicing. Key handling was made contact free (during COVID-19 pandemic). Payment was made by card advert the phone. This didn't feel secure and I would prefer a secure web payment.
In terms of coronavirus, they assured me over the phone that they sanitise the car after servicing (didn't specify how). However, the driver who brought me the car was not covering his nose with a facemask inside the car and touched his face with the gloves. As the car is a close space it didn't feel safe at all. Based of the price of servicing I would hope all this to be much better look after.
Secondary, during the servicing they moved the seat, mirrors and wheel, so I had to re-adjust everything after I collected the car. A small but annoying little detail.

A family member of mine use to work there and said that a car would not leave looking like that.
We have since returned back to BMW Cooper Reading to find that the car has not been repaired and its just been put straight back up into the showroom. I do genuinely feel sorry for the person who buys it. From looking around the used cars it looks like they cannot be even bothered to attempt to polish the cars to make the look good. The only good thing about the dealership is that all new vehicles are the ones that get the care and attention.

The first time we went into the BMW Reading on a Sunday afternoon, we were not greeted by anyone and the service was quite poor - perhaps it was a day of being short staffed. However, when we came back to learn more about a used 1 Series and do a test drive, Charles was excellent.
He took time to understand what my needs were, provided me with an understanding of the differences between PCP and HP options, and - most importantly - provided a great test drive experience for the car.
Ultimately, we also visited Audi and Mercedes and ended up opting for the Audi due to the type of car and how it felt in the test drives, but I am left thoroughly impressed by the experience I had a BMW. In April 2019 I had my 2018 car serviced and a few snags sorted out under warranty. Workshop was excellent and Josh was great to deal with. All work completed to a high standard. It is a nice dealership with good facilities and friendly people. Only minor criticism would be the lead time for a service appointment (8 weeks), the online booking system doesn't work (no appointments available) and sometimes it is impossible to reach anyone by phone. I called 8 times during the day and on hold each time for more than 3 minutes and still wasn't able to talk to anyone. Overall I give 5 stars as it is clear everyone is doing their best to provide great service and customer experience and the technicians are great. I recommend.

My Missus needed another keypad/key cut and coded for Her Mini, so went in and did the forms, id etc and a few days later got call and collected. Was given instructions to use 1st time, a yet no joy. Told to bring car and key in and would be sorted. No Joy! Turns out there's a known issue with some key 3's just not working!!?? So "just bring car and key in and we'll sort it" was just a wasted journey. Dropped my Z4 28i M Sport in for a rear brake pads service - thought 4 week lead time for an appointment seemed a bit excessive but appreciate they’re probably busier in the winter months. It meant I ended up going 2,000 miles overdue, but just a lesson for me for next time to get booked in as soon as the warning light comes on rather than procrastinating as I did! Upon arrival, they didn’t have my details logged as the car was listed under the previous owner despite me having owned it for 9 months - also, both her and I put private plates on the car which seemed to complicate matters with finding details in the system. This meant I had to sit and wait longer than I would have liked while they identified the vehicle etc but this wasn’t a problem, I helped myself to a coffee and still managed to get to my 10 o’clock meeting on time.
I was looked after by Josh who was really friendly, professional and efficient and showed me out to my loan car on the forecourt....an ‘18 plate 2 series. Seemed a bit odd to give a big, practical, silver coloured family car to someone that owns a garish orange 2-seater sports car but hey, it got me from A to B (albeit a fair bit slower!) which was all I needed for my 3 mile journey to work. Great that it was auto transmission the same as mine so no inconvenience of having to actually remember to change gear again - and it was nice and clean throughout, although there was a used coffee cup in the cup holder, obviously an oversight!
The technician sent me a vehicle health check video which was really great although difficult to hear what he was saying above the noise of the workshop. These personal touches really set BMW apart from your ‘run of the mill’ garage - and I think, given the price difference, it’s important that you feel well looked after as I did.
Having finished at work and decided I definitely wouldn’t be putting a 2 series on my Christmas list (although it did start to grow on me!) - I dropped by at the end of the day to pick my car up. Josh had phoned to say it would be ready at 4.30 but I arrived just before 4pm accepting that I’d have to hang around for a bit which wasn’t a problem. Josh saw me arrive and my car ended up being ready at 4:10 so this was great and meant I managed to beat the rush hour traffic home. The team had cleaned my car as they often do when you drop it in for a service but they’d done a really amazing job - absolutely spotless inside and out, so much so that my friends and colleagues commented on how shiny the exterior looked for days after.
Overall, really great experience and will definitely continue to get the car BMW serviced despite local garages offering more competitive prices. Only point of feedback would be with regards to the model of loan car being so wildly different to the car I actually own. I’m young, impressionable and a bit of a rash decision maker so if you were clever about it you could have given me a hideously coloured M3 for the day and probably have had me signing on the dotted line by close of business!

Did have to call up 3 times to get booked in and eventually did, booking process was absolutely fine and dropping off my vehicle was a smooth process. Dealt with Jessica who was brilliant and was given prompt updates through out the day. Got a call at the end of the day asking if they could keep the car overnight due to an extra part needing to be ordered which I had no issues with and agreed to have the car ready for midday the Saturday. No updates on the Saturday and called at lunchtime to get one and was told by the very polite and helpful Natalie that someone would give me a ring which I didn't receive and called again a few hours later and was again told someone would call me, again they didn't.
Eventually decided to just turn up at around 16:30 and was sat in the waiting area for about 30 mins until someone came and helped us.
Would have preferred some more communication.

A few months ago, I took my car to Cooper BMW Reading for a possible tyre replacement. After checking it, the Service Dept advised me to save the money as the damage to the tyre was mainly cosmetic (as opposed to what a different dealership had implied prior to that).

It transpires that this fault was not noted on the service notes. I have since enquired by telephone daily since Monday (i.e.3 times) to get a quotation for its replacement and have been told that the person assigned to my service will telephone me. It is now mid afternoon on Wednesday and still no call. Why does it have to be that particular person - I know what the part is. It is unacceptable to be kept waiting for just a quotation and if I proceed this is just delaying my booking every day this continues.

The staff was very professional and helpful. I was seen very quickly by a very nice young lady who provided me with all the required information.
A nice surprise was the fact that I received via e-mail a short video of the under side of my car when it was checked by an engineer. Less than half an hour later a received a call from the young lady telling me that the car was ready.
As usual the car was valleted. Moreover, the coffee provided was first class.

5 series booked in for end of warranty check, change of brake fluid and MOT with a courtesy car. That work was all carried out to a very good standard and the car was given a courtesy wash and clean. They were also pretty quick to find out I had a broken front brake pad sensor which was replaced after I was contacted. I would have given 5 stars however as these jobs were carried out in acertain order meant an advisory went on my MOT for the front brake pad sensors which was rectified the same day at same place but the MOT certificate was not amended.

My experience at Cooper BMW Reading was excellent with the exception of one area. The salesman who dealt with me was very knowledgeable about the BMW X1 that I was buying and gave me all the information that I requested. After a good test drive on Sunday 6th Jan. we decided to buy the car and collect it on Friday 11th Jan. at 11.00am.
I arrived before 1100am and the salesman Mark Jeffrey was busy with another customer, this was not a problem as I could look at the showroom while I waited. While I was waiting every BMW employee who walked past me checked if I was being dealt with and one made me a coffee, great customer service.
Mark then dealt with all the paperwork that was required and then said he would fetch my new car .
I was looking out of the window to see the car being parked and then the valet appeared to continue cleaning it. On inspection of the car there was a small amount of rubbish in the boot so Mark said he would return the car to the workshop to get it cleaned . I said not to bother as I had a fairly long drive home.
On returning home I found a lot of dirt, crumbs etc. behind the seats in both the front and back of the car.
I have purchased many BMW cars over the years, all from main BMW Dealerships and they have always been fully cleaned and immaculate on collection. I cannot fault the actual customer service at Cooper BMW Reading and am very happy with my purchase of a great car, however I am disappointed that I had to wait while the valeting of the car was completed and the sub standard finish of the actual valeting did not meet the high standard of Cooper BMW I had received as a whole, nor my own standard of cleaning!

I would normally go to my local dealership in Farnborough but have changed my thinking. Cooper Reading has great customer service I dealt with Will Jenkins & Jason (sorry can't remember the surname) they both bent over backwards to help me get the car that I wanted at the price I wanted.
I have also dealt with Chris Brown the servicing manager and his team took great car off my car and valeted my car for me as well.
I find the set up of the showroom to be very open and everyone is very approachable.
The communication whilst waiting for my car to be ready for collection has been great and so far we are very pleased.

New show room is nice, staff never approach, reception don't say hi or offer you assistance etc.. By the time you wonder to the top floor for approved cars, the staff up there never come out of their little den of offices.
Range is OK, mostly boring TDi 18s and 20s, very few higher end specs.
Over all OK, but they would benefit from having a better front of house that was proactive and losing the offices for the approved sales guys so they where on the shop floor not hiding on this phones in a cave. If I was the manager, I would be very worries about my conversion kpis.

I was driving from Bristol to London when my water pump and thermostat both went out. I Google mapped out the closest dealership, and luckily I was only 2 miles from this one. First service at 16000mls:
Friendly and on time drop-off, courtesy car and pick-up. Recall work on ERG valve seemed to lead to factory re-set of all computer settings - including trip computer (most annying as I closely monitor mileage).
First drive to the office looks like mpg is 10% down on usual figures.
Specifically asked for tyre pressure check - actually returned with four different (low) pressures - none of which are recommended - now off to garage to do this myself.

Very pleased to have been selected for the post Winter complimentary service. However my experience was marred by being kept waiting nearly 30 minutes to be seen by a Cooper Service Rep. This was despite having previously booked in. No apology either!

I've just returned to BMW after 10+ years of driving other makes of car. The buying process was not just professional (I take that as a given) but also friendly and informative. I had some detailed questions about the car that I was interested in (beyond the usual BMW Genius and website information) that required the sales exec to properly research the topic and come back with options. At no point did I feel pressured to buy a car from them - instead I chose to.
As others have said, the showroom is very nice and there are plenty of cars to explore. If the showroom cars don't have the options you'd like to test, there are many cars on the top floor to check features, colours, seat etc. - so don't feel put off if you can't immediately see what you're after.
All in all, a very pleasant, issue-free experience. I only hope that the actual car is as good.

The buying experience didn't get off to a good start. My wife and I called at the showroom late one afternoon. When I asked to book a test drive all the salespeople were busy so I asked reception to get somebody to call me, and left my contact details. Two days later I had heard nothing so I phoned them. The person I spoke to then agreed a date and time for the test drive and said that somebody would call me back to let me know which salesman would be seeing us. Nobody did call, but we went there at the appointed time anyway, only to find that nobody was expecting us. Fortunately the salesman Adnan Yasin was available and from then on everything went perfectly. He was polite and friendly and his product knowledge was encyclopaedic, and it was difficult to believe that he was, as he told us, quite new to sales. It was, indeed, a pleasure to do business with him from the moment we met right through to the time he handed over our lovely new 520d Touring to us.

In comparison with my previous visit not as good service. Expected service to be 2.5 - 3 Hrs so disappointed to have to wait nearly 3 Hrs 20. Clean not impressive with no evidence footwells of car actually vacuumed & windows needing to be re-chamionzed. So despite Marks attentive service no better than 7/10 I'm afraid.
