Hi all,
P.S: Roza lag raha hai tou iftaari k baad parhain😬
Wanted to share my experience of trying the Iftaar boxes by Oye - Karachi Street Food at Querky Cafe in Forest Gate. I pre-booked the iftaar box 2 days before our iftaar yesterday. The process of pre-booking is very smooth. You book it through their website and get an option of picking either the vegetarian bun kebab or adding the beef bun kebab, I did 1 veggie and 1 beef. The iftaar platter includes 2 bun kebabs and 2 chicken tikka paratha rolls, 2 masala fries and dates and chutneys. The owner got us some water bottles free of charge for iftaar too. ❤️
Starting off with the venue first, we were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the outdoor space was, it felt so good being able to “dine” again at a restaurant, my girls and I were in complete awe of the ambience. So if you’ve missed dining out in these long and painful lockdown months, book yourself a slot and check them out!
Coming to the food, as a non-Karachiite and being half-Lahori half-Dallas-ite this was my first real experience of trying Karachi food. I gotta say, I was in for a treat. The flavoring of the bun kebab was just too good, the spice definitely has a kick to it, I personally loved the beef bun kebab a lot more (only coz I consider myself a TOTAL carnivore sometimes😬), the chicken tikka rolls were a total treat for me, the paratha itself was light and the chicken tikka seasoning was so divine. Coming down to the masala fries..Pakistan ki yaad aa gaye. By the time I finished my meal, all the flavorings made the foodie in me extremely happy. If you don’t believe me, all 4 of my friends from Karachi vouched for the authenticity of their food!
Coming to the portion, 1 iftaar box is for 2 people and believe me the portions leave you full even after fasting all day long (I thought I was gonna eat my whole box, lucky for my plus 1, she got her fair share😬). Each iftaar box costs £20 (+- some change for the beef bun kebab).
We did order chaye separately and their chaye is too good, it’s not overpoweringly sweet. Ghar ki chaye wali baat hai with the right notes of the masalas. So do get it, it’ll warm you up and be a nice end to a divine meal.
Lastly, the owner was great. She makes everything at home from scratch and was literally there the entire time making sure everyone was being taken care of, I think that sets any business a part from the rest, the level of love and care they show their customers. So give these independent business owners a try this Ramadan who’re serving home cooked meals in a beautiful restaurant type setting.

Really loved having the bun kababs and Paratha roll over there ❤️ something that reminded me of Iftars back home. Really liked the seating arrangement as well.

I ordered 2 things
1) bun kabab
2) rolls
Bun kabab was good but definitely it cant be similar to karachi style
Roll's chicken was good but parathas looked stale. Plus it would be a better role with garlic mayo
However for the price and the distance I've to travel. I dont think its worth the travel for me.

Very kind staff. Had been accommodating to our request. Maryam is an amazingly kind, talented woman who was able to provide such delicious food, was very much reminiscing Pakistan after eating here! Lovely food and lovely staff that took care of us during our time! Thank you so much Maryam! Will be sure to visit again! 😊

Went to Oye Karachi for iftaar dinner with a couple of non-desi friends who wanted to try Pakistani food...great great food and lovely people. A must try for all those missing Karachi’s famous street food. I am seeing myself becoming a regular here, thumbs up!

I was pleasantly surprised to find a place in London that had the authentic taste of Pakistani Street food. The Bun Kebab and Masala Fries at Oye were mouthwatering, and I would recommend everyone to try it atleast once. I was also really happy to find that the Chef/Owner was following the social distancing guidelines and following proper SOPs.

It was an amazing experience. Worth travelling so far from my house. Exactly the same bun kabab as karachi
I tried so many places and couldn't find malai boti as karachi

The food as well as the service was incredible. Great outdoor seating area too, which is perfect given the current restrictions. Highly recommend this place. Will most definitely be visiting again.
