I'm just gonna start by saying I order regularly from here and the food is always lovely, never once had a bad meal and delivery times are always good. I used to use Just Eat to order but recently have been going directly through their website as it's cheaper. However, last night (28/12/22) I ordered via the website for delivery at 21.19 and was charged just under £40. The order never arrived, we couldn't get through to anyone on the phone. The transaction is not pending in my bank account so the money has fully been taken out. Because I ordered via the website, there's no option to claim the money back like I would have been able to on Just Eat. So now I'm going to have to wait until they open today, phone up and ask for a refund. I just wanted to leave this review to warn anyone else who may order via the website - I will be using just eat going forward when ordering from Yummy Cottage. I am disappointed the food didn't turn up, especially because we are regular customers and I was really looking forward to the food. In the end we had to order from elsewhere meaning I had to spend double the money. I just hope I can get my money refunded asap.

Quick service. Most Chinese takeaways will vary the standard menu if something different requested, but that doesn't seem to apply here. Bamboo shoots and water chestnuts, standard ingredients in Chinese meals were not on the menu and not available. Payment had to be made with cash- cards not acceptable. Food OK. Not a lot of cashew nut in my meal. Will try somewhere else next time.

Went here on a recommendation for all the vegan options and was not disappointed. Think I've found a new favourite takeaway!

Hmm, we tried here after are usual takeaway let us down badly. I'd had some recommendations for this place and so we decided to try it last Friday night. I have to say for what we ordered and what we got it did seem overpriced. The chips were poor but the noodles and sauces were all nice, it arrived early and was warm but I doubt we'll be trying this one again as it's just too expensive for what it is. The delivery driver was very pleasant and friendly however. Since ordering from here we then discovered that it was hygiene inspected back in March of this year and only scored a 2 which is disappointing to hear so maybe give this one a miss as there are definitely better Chinese takeaways out there and cheaper.

Never had a bad meal, my fav takeaway! I dont eat meat and this is the only Chinese food takeaway I know of that offers meat alternatives instead of just veg in different sauces 🤤 …

One of the best takeaways we’ve had in Newcastle. Food was delicious, fast delivery and reasonably priced. The Japanese Katsu Curry was especially delicious and since Yummy Cottage offers both Chinese and Japanese options, it’s a great place when hosting family.

Some great vegan options. My favourites the vegan duck fried rice and the vegan chicken vermicelli. I would also recommend the curry dishes, not too spicy because I can't really handle hot hot and the pepper sauce dishes. Very tasty. Only place I can find that delivers to me that offer vegan meat options.

I never leave reviews but after having quite a few takeaways from Yummy Cottage now I feel compelled to. We have been vegan for 5 years and this is our favourite takeaway from any restaurant, regardless of the cuisine. All of the vegan options are clearly marked so no room for error on out part. It is better than any vegan restaurant we’ve been to - and we’ve tried every speciality vegan / vegetarian vegan restaurant in the area and many of the well known ones in London. It is simply exemplary. Whether you’re a fan of mock meat (try the fake chicken Thai green chilli or the duck pancakes - amazing!) or you prefer a vegetable based dish you won’t be disappointed. Even our carnivore friends and family could not find fault and were impressed both by the price and the quality. I notice the negative reviews complain about the punctuality of their order, it doesn’t surprise me that they aren’t food related and we’re fortunate not to have had a problem with delivery, always under an hour even during peak times. We’re hooked.

Ok so waited a bit longer because they were down a delivery driver due to illness but when it got here it was delicious. The seaweed was to die for as was the szechuan chicken and chilli and garlic pork. Would highly recommend and will certainly order from them again.
